I think i just bricked my kaiser...and idk how...help... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

i have been having trouble with my phone for the last few weeks, where it would not boot all the way to my whole contact list disappearing. i tried searching for an answer to no avail. until i found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154
i followed it to the letter and it worked! so i then tried flashing hyperdragon spt15 went through all the way until it says "Completed!" or something to that order. Pressed reset button and my phone has not powered on since...I think its bricked bc usb & power cable show no response.
Does anyone have any idea? Is my phone truly dead?

Can you get the bootloader?
What SPL do you have?

no phone is completly unresponsive what so ever. I have(or had) hardspl 3. something(the newest one)

no because u should be able to start the phone even without a battery if its plunged into a power source.

So you tried turning it on without the battery and plugged in?

no never...i would know lol, but just incase i checked the white rectangle and its still white. I honestly dont know what happened, if it was mtty u would think it would happen while i was using it. But was able to hardreset/ install a rom and install a new rom off my sd card after using mtty.
Im convinced its bricked... but i have one more question is there any risk in sending it in to warrenty? i mean it has a nonstock rom + hardspl but it doesn't start what so ever.
Warranty is through ATT 1 year factory warranty.

Have you tried flash HSPL of TP2 on top of it?

Agreed - i've 'bricked' my tp1 several times, and forced the reflash from hardspl on, successfully from the bootloader screen, instructions to get there are all over.... Thinking positive here

I dont think so, I think you have to have a bootloader waiting for the rom.
other option would be JTAG it, i dont think anybody has done it so far, you need a hardware guy to figure out where the jtag points are on the phone board for that.

heh i literally described it.
I just took the battery out, to make sure it was powered down. did the keys for boot loader, and just trusted it would make the connection.
had to try a few times, and its been a while since i did it - but as i recall i told the bastard flash on the computer and walked away, and the next time i got bootloader, so i turned it off and let it charge, then back to bootloader and flash and i was fine.
now for me i had flashed a gsm on cdma iirc and ive no idea why the above worked at all. Likely the flash was corrupted on the way in or something, but its been so long there's no way to remember enough details to see if its even something that's been observed in that state and sequence of events.

Had an issue today similar to yours, unlocked the bootloader today and kept the stock rom. Tonight I started deleting the bloatware, mainly using root explorer, no issues really. Used titanium backup to "force remove by exploit" I think its called. Did that and phone went black, tried powering back on, pulled battery etc, nada.
Ended up plugging device to usb charger and booted into bootloader, rebooted from there and its fine.
I ran into this tonight. See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198585
Short story -- Clockwork Recovery is bugged and won't charge the phone. Your battery level is too low to power on, so you need to use another method to get some power into it.
I did this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15034469/tmp/recovery_fail.jpg
And yeah it's a lame problem.
Ahh, so this is not really a bricked phone, but a case of CWM dead battery! Good to know, as its an "easy" fix then. I was afraid that the phone, simply S-off and perm rooted, had somehow crashed permanently.
Matt
Straight Bricked
For me its not the battery, when tmobile sent me a new sensation i used my old battery, sdcard and sim and the battery still had around a 75% charge. I cant boot from usb i cant do anything. Its completely dead.
As for what i did?
I had been flashing multiple roms and kernels for 2 weeks. Overclocking, undervloting bla bla. No issues a wipe and flash couldnt take care of. I think i did a wipe and flash of a new rom and thats it. Dead. Wish i could remember exactly what it was. I guess im gonna mail it back since i have a new one and probably get charged full retail if they see its s-off and root.

Ahh..So it wasnt the silly CWM ordeal then. That sucks!
Try to pinpoint what you were doing right before this happened. Were you wiping something? (what were you wiping) Were you flashing a ROM? (What were to flashing)
Try to provide more details, as I am sure some of the devs here will be looking to jump all over it shortly.
EDIT: Were to making sure to check that the ROM you were flashing was meant for your version of the phone as well as the files not corrupted? I know it sounds silly, but its something to rule out.
Matt
happened to me too on two batteries. I believe that it is due to overclocking the cpu. because the battery stats are calibrated for a slower CPU speed, it drains it past the failsafe point to pure failure. CWM will recognize CPU for the given ROM. i flashed back to S-ON and regular RUU 1.29 and charging my batteries again for the correct CPU + battery stats. wish me best of luck
Wow, am i that stupid
Not positive but i think i figured out what i did. Something really stupid.
I think i flashed: [Desire] InsertCoin CM7/STOCK 1.1.0
So am i fully bricked?
Gotta put the phone in the mail tomorrow.
Do you think they will see that its s-off or if its (truly) bricked can they not?

They'll know....
actually... having worked in a few cell phone repair / refurbish facilities... i can tell you that they won't even look. they just plug the phone up to their bench and it overides everything and does a fresh flash. from there they just replace plastics to make it look like a brand new phone. if they are unable to flash it at the bench, they replace internals. so relax... no one will know or care what you did to it. these places get thousands of phones a day. and each tech at the bench has a quota to get through.
Thanks for your feedback guys. Shipping it off now...

....i think? Running bamf ginger remix and the latest OTA radio not the leaks. I fixed my permissions and noticed my 4g kept going in and out. Should i be worried? What could cause this?

Sounds like the radio to me. That's the thing that will suck up power the worst if it can't get it's crap together finding a signal, even to the point of heating that thing up. Mine starts cooking if I tether it and watch movies on it. Never had boot loops though, and I use the 1.70 radio for weeks.

I don't really know what to describe the "brick situation" we were having back in the day with the first leaked gingerbread as. Technically, it's not REALLY a brick because many of them could be fixed. It was more of a boot-loop issue. That whole situation muddied the waters of what defines a brick, but before that I always understood a brick to be a completely useless device beyond any help. Whether it could be powered on to view the hboot S-on or S-off state, I don't know because thankfully I've never had that problem.
There's always the option of electrocuting it until it won't power on though. Take an electronic lighter, remover the piezo igniter, and use that to zap sensitive parts of it's guts until it never worked again. That's like a few thousand volts. Not much inside there will survive that for long. (Yes, I really do sit around thinking about how to destroying things in undetectable ways.)
it's funny because everytime i hear about someone getting insurance for their cell phone i think "lol.. sucker!" but broke 2 phones so far and had to "craigslist" like crazy to find replacements at decent prices.

When the boot loop of death thing happened people were still able to get into hboot. So from there you would just flash an RUU and get back to s-on. If it truly is the same issue people were having the phone will be s-on after the RUU, but it will still just bootloop. If you are using the patched hboot I don't know if you would be able go get back because I don't know if fastboot was functioning.

HI Guys,
So I just tried to flash the Supercharged v7 rom from the ICS leak and now my phone wont turn on. When I have the battery in it heats up a lot, so I think it's trying to turn on.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks
Little more info please.
Were you on the ICS leak before you tried to flash it? Or GB?
Also any LED lights on?
Have you tried a different battery? Will it boot into fastboot? Hold both voume buttons down while it's off and then press and hold the power button.
And for future reference you should have posted this on SC7's thread as it involves the ROM. Keeps the forum a little tidier.

Ok, sounds like a hardbrick, however, the only thing I would try is to get your hands on another battery and see if it boots that way. Possibly borrow one from an AT&T store?
If it doesn't boot with a new battery it's probably an expensive paperweight now.
How did you flash it? With our new recovery? You didn't use the bootstrapper APK did you?

I used the new recovery. I will bring it to an AT&T store and try a new battery.
You sure you used boot menu? AND did you try to "flash" it? Or did you do a system restore....
Also did the phone die in the middle of the flash? Or would it not reboot?
also just hard bricked.......

Yeah this is the same brick many of us got. the battery will get hot, don't know why, but take it out or it is toast along with the phone, many people had that so you may need a new one. your best bet to fix is to buy a cheap broken phone on ebay with a working main board, so basically you are buying a main board but cheaper because people don't realize the phone i worth anything when the screen is shattered and the camera is shot. then you can pop the new board in your old phone and you are good to go.

Hard Bricked My US Cellular S3, I think, please help!

I haven't tried the jig, but all the other symptoms such as dead screen, functionless buttons and all are there, so I think it is Hard Bricked. It's really weird what happened, I rooted my S3, it was working perfectly, then I unlocked the bootloader, it was perfectly fine even after that, then using ROM Manager I installed clockwork recovery mod, it was was working great. Then, I deleted my android market using ES File Explorer, and the guide for replacing the market told me to look for Vending.apk and then delete it, I looked but couldn't find it, so I 100% remember I tapped the search button in ES File Explorer and searched for Vending.apk, then suddenly a window popped up with names of files flashing but it didn't say searching or anything just three dots (...) and under there were two options YES and NO. I pressed No, it closed and then popped up again so this time I pressed Yes. then the names of files kept flashing and then it finished but didn't give me any search result, But my Phone memory was showing Empty, only the sd card folder was there and nothing else so I closed the app and opened it again, still the phone memory was empty, I was freaked out, so I restarted the phone and then, it never started :crying: I don't know what happened. Please help?
odin back to stock and start over....your device is far from hardbricked.
Really?? Can you please tell me step by step what to do?? I'm a complete noob at this!

My device does not go into download mode, nor in recovery, it's buttons are useless and there's a completely dead screen.

have you tried a different battery?
I forgot to mention, it's brand new, this happened the second day I bought it. So, the battery is flawless and perfect.

No its dead for sure. He tried to unlock the us cellualr S3 which would result in a perma brick.
You don't need to unlock the bootloader of the us cellular S3. That is why everything is labeled "verizon unlock" and stuff.

ahh i missed that detail...yes i agree its dead for sure! jtag or new replacement time.
Since it's only a couple days, take it back into USCC store. You're in your 15 day Window, they should swap it for a new one. Act dumb, don't tell them you rooted it. Just say you heard it buzz and it died. They'll mark it down as defective and give you a new one
How the hell was I supposed to know that? The US Cellular S3 is completely identical to the Verizon one, the only difference is the carrier logo, I rooted it with the Verizon S3's guide everything went perfectly fine, so I continued to do all the other stuff. I just got it 2 days ago :crying: . Huff, I've sent it for JTAG to a friend.

Great idea, but, I'm not in the US. I bought this phone from a guy who brought it from the US, I got it for half the price of an S3 here. So now, I don't know what to do, I gave it to friend, I hope he'll fix it, but if he's unable to can I give it to Samsung?
True, well said :'( I messed up big time.

Hi everyone,
I think my fiance might have hard-bricked his (new! Less than 24 hrs old!) Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. He researched, rooted, set up bit-defender and it was working fine but when he tried to copy music files onto the micro-SD, they appeared to have gone onto the hard-drive instead and made his phone uber sluggish. We had some friends over, so he dropped the issue for a while and then went back to try to fix it only to make things worse. I know there isn't enough detail there about what *else* he tried to do, but when he came to bed last night he was kicking himself for not researching it enough and mentioned that he tried taking the batter out, resetting it, taking the sim card out, resetting it, telling bit defending to wipe the phone, etc. but all it would do last night was just display the 'samsung' logo then go to black.
This morning, I found your threads and tried to do the power+down+home advice that I've seen on a few threads here but it didn't work (obviously).
I suggested using the micro-SD adapter to try to explore the files on a PC, so we might look into that later.
Is there anything else you guys would recommend? I'm thinking the only thing to fix it now is the dopey route. :silly:

Your phone is Soft Bricked not hard bricked, otherwise it wouldn't even turn on, Use A USB JIG to force it into download mode, then reflash with Odin.

If you're such a noob and unprepared for a brick, maybe you shouldn't have ventured down custom ROM/unlock avenue?
Just a thought.

Pull the battery, put it in and let it charge for a while couple hours. Then hold vol - , home and power. If it week go into download/Odin mode you're fine. If so then go to the development thread stickies and follow droid style guide section 6

Great thought, but let me tell you before my Galaxy S3 I owned a Wildfire S, tinkered with it every bit, OC,Rom,bootloader and everything, before that I owned a Huawei U8150, my first android, I literally went bezerk modding that thing. So, I'm not a noob at this,I was a noob at this different Carrier different software kinda thing, I thought the phone was the same and indeed it is, but the difference is that the Verizon's Bootloader is locked. I'm well familiar with everything, I just messed up by not researching that if the bootloader was unlocked already, mainly because I was a bit too excited about getting my S3.
