Every VOX has an expert menu. U can see it in main menu. for that first goto 2D-3D menu. select and apply 'windows default menu', restart the phone and then open main menu there. this time u will find an expert menu folder.
There is nothing special to configure.
You can switch SAP on or off. That's all. You have to search the phone with your bluetooth carkit and not vice versa for SAP. The phone has to visible while you search for it. After you've connected once, you can swith to invisible again.
If you have no shorcut in your menu for SAP: Browse your windows folder an search for 'SAPsettings.exe'.
I use Nokia 616 with my HTC Vox. Works without any problems except for accessing the Outlook contacts. The Nokia 616 is only able to download the SIM-card contacts.
BOOTING UP
inserted my sim and turned it on(for the 1st time), it displayed a message "configuring network settings, you can continue your work".
and after sometime is said "restart device?"
this happened each time i canged the sim card. i dont know what all configurations it did, but 1 of them was to set the gprs edge and mms profiles. i found this very handy and usefull.
please include this feature in WM 6.1. im badly missing it.
p.s. im using WM6.1 by Dr. G v1.1
hi,
i use the 19700 version from Dr G.
the network config is available there as I boot / setup my phone first time after flashing. I only use one SIM, so don't now what's going on this case.
After using EDGE (e.g. to send mms or using google maps) the "E" icon on the right of the screen doesn't disappear. Does it mean, that the phone is still sending/receiving data?
There are no programs runnig when I check in my Task Manager.
The only way I found is to turn phone off and on in the ConnManager.
I'm using Dr. Martin's Windows Mobile 6.1 v1.1, XIP 20202 and only additional apps i have installed are Google Maps, and CHomeConfig
also, is there a way to see the actuall state of the net connection i.e. the amount of bytes sent and received?
You could also check your phone credit.
BTW if I'm not wrong the E simply indicates that your are connected throu EDGE like G indicates my network has only GPRS available...but as i have not congifured it i have no data transfer but the G letter is STILL always on.
once you have connected to the EDGE you will still be connected. No data is transferred unless some application is using connection.
There is a trick how to automatically disconnect everytime when application ends. Use your favorite registry editor and navigate to:
HKCU - ControlPanel - Comm - ConnMgr - Settings - Planner and edit value "SuspendResume". Delete ~GPRS! (practically leave the value empty). that's it.
The E on top of the screen only stands for the availability of EDGE. You can check if it is still connected. Go to CommManager Dr. G's CommManager) and there you should see if it is active or not. In WinMo's CommManager you have to push the right soft button and if the first line is grayed out it is also disconnected.
For the amount of bytes sent over the internet, you can use GPRS traffic monitor from efficasoft.
Using this program you can also see if you are still connected or not.
I am not talking about the big E in the middle of the top of the screen, but the small on right (above the signal strength indicator). This onecertainly means "EDGE in use".
@trizzo - so once the EDGE is connected it stays idle, and doesn't send or recive anything?
There's no such registry location you're talking about. The only one with "SuspendResume" value is HKLM - Comm - ConnMgr - Planner - Settings, but changing it doesn't seem to have any effect.
Does EDGE use more battery power while it's connected and idle?
@frauhottelmann - i only have the default commManager , and it seems that, the "data Connections" stands for the EDGE and GPRS, turning it off disables the "EDGE in use" icon
@georgetarbuc - i'll try the program you're talking about

Once the connection is idle - no data is transfered in/out form device.
Sorry I made a mistake. You a right. You have edited the right value. I do not know why it is not working on your device. I am using it almost two years and no problem with that. Also I am using the latest Gonzo ROM (Rose 1.0a) and it is still working. Maybe - restart your device. This could help.
Not sure. I have never checked that.
sorry, my mistake - i was too impatient
after a few seconds the EDGE indeed turns off
thanks a lot
...still i will try efficasoft traffic monitor

try it. you will see your consumption and data transfer
one more thing you have to do s change the cache time to your desired value in seconds.if you cant find this go to settings-connection-press right key select advanced then select option there you can c idle disconnect after.set a value and then repeat the registry edit
I have a similar problem with a stock rom (VDA V, latest). I am using the GRPS Monitor and it works very well. However, after disconnecting the GPRS connection (in VDA V ROM is is done with a long press of the HangUp button) it looks ok (the "E" topright is gone and GPRS Monitor does not show an IP assigned), but after "some time" the "E" comes back. Strange is that no data are exchanged and GPRS Monitor is still showing no IP assigned. No programs are active in the BG as well which could activate a connection. I have not yet found the reason for this, but as I am pretty sure that no data are transferred it is not bothering me much (except the optical annoyance).
BTW good (and free) programs to handle GPRS connections are:
- Modaco Nodata
- ToLuSe ConnTweak

How is this different than changing the value to "GPRS_bye_if_device_off", which is what ConnTweaker does?
I have a bothersome issue, the sim card "refreshes" at irregular intervals when the phone is in standby, making me have to choose a new operator each time using a "operator config" program also accessible under settings. My operator (Network of Norway) isn't even listed, and If I select one of the others all my GPRS and MMS settings are replaced.
Any way to stop the phone form doing this? (Samsung i780, cooked wm 6.1). I had a similar problem with my TYTN, but then I didn't have to change the operator, It just gave me some cryptic setting that I could abort when I started the phone..
Cheers,
Johan
I bought an HTC Touch2 (unbranded) and for whatever reason I can not change the "Network selection" to "Manual".
The "Phone -> Menu -> Options... -> Network" screen didn't even contain any settings besides "Find Network".
A quick google found the policy setting reliable for it and changing "HKLM\Security\phone\ManualDisable = 0" does bring the desired setting temporarily back.
However, after a reboot the key changes back to 0. (Could fix that with a program in autostart.)
However even with the setting enabled I can not change it to manual selection. The moment I try to select a network from the list I get the following error message: "Cannot register on selected network. Choose another network, or disconnect you data connection." (I have not data connection open.)
Any ideas?
Help would be appreciated!
Christian
I thought it might be a TouchFlo issue, as the Band selection is gone as well but accessable through TouchFlo.
But the settings are available on the HTC Touch pro2. I am really annoyed about this issue, as I deliberatly bought an unbranded device to avoid having to hack it -> if I wanted that pleasure I would have bought an i-thing.
I was able to identify the registry keys changed by the setting:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneNetSelMode]
"ManualNet"="11122"
"Option"=dword:00000001
111 = the desired networks MCC
22 = the desired networks MNC
I will try out if setting the keys manually will have the desired effect or if they will get set back automatically after reboot. Should that work I might just write an app to set them. (Somehow I doubt it though.)
Is there a contact for HTC one can contact for this kind of enquires?
Just in case anybody else has the same issue.
it turned out that the SIM card sent an ADPU command to the ME on initialization that told the OS to disable the functions.
So running my batch was overwritten every time the phone reconnected to the network.
Getting a different SIM card solved that issue.
i have this same exact problem. i don't mind buying a new simcard, but before i do how can i be sure i'm buying one that doesn't send the adpu command to reset the registry? i doubt the guys at the store i buy the simcard from will have a clue what i'm talking about. i have a really old sim from cingular before they were bought by att, which is my current provider.
do you have a script or batch that i can run on my phone manually to set the registry? i'm using ceregeditor now but if i don't have a computer then i need to be able to set this key using just the phone.
thanks!
