Hi,
Does anybody know how to change the softkeys of the landscape page of TF3D? I know about the registry keys but they only change the softkey on the (portrait) homescreen of TF3D.
I want to put Second Today screen on a softkey since the landscape page isn't really what I need.
Thanks, cheers,
Cacti
Ciao, do you have any news about this?

I dont think we would be able to change the landscape keys with advance config,,,,,
I think somebody from our intelligent community should really give a hand to help us out in changing the landscape keys. Or may be ability to change the prorams on landscape TF3D screen.

So yes, we would like to have SSMaPa to be extended to change the links for TF3D-Landscape. And we would like to see people who come up with Manila Themes to take care of the landscape graphics as well...

Most of the themes support landscape. Just don't use TF3D Config to install them. After you have restore the original theme with the Config tool, rename the .theme file to .zip, and copy it's contents to \Windows folder.
You see, most themers use a Diamond, which doesn't have Manila Landscape files, thus they don't include them in their themes. TF3D deletes all manila files in \window directory and then replaces the Theme files. So your Manila Landscape files are gone...
Still no solution?
I would love to change my landscape softkeys. Just dont know where to look in registry

1. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila key in your registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuLSKPath, add it.
3. Edit LandscapeMenuLSKPath to the program you want the left soft key to run (e.g. \windows\operal.exe)
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuLSKText, add it.
5. Edit LandscapeMenuLSKText to the label you want to use for the left soft key (e.g. Internet)
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the right soft key (LandscapeMenuRSKPath and LandscapeMenuRSKText)
Works like a charm, thank you. I suggest adding it to Advanced Config
hello!
i changed the right one to Messenger (\Windows\WLMMessenger.exe), but I can't change the left one.
The softkey is the Phone, and it doesnt appear on registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila), even when I try to create one new LandscapeMenuLSKPath and Text it says it already exists.
The Phone softkey is so useless for me, when I want to call I simply have the call button (green)...
please help me!
deiota
Sorry Deiota, can't help, ITNV's instructions worked perfectly for me. Try again?
I wanted to add a little extra functionality by having my right soft key open a new SMS. With some messing around, based on ITNV's instructions I added three new strings as follows:-
1. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila key in your registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKPath, add it.
3. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKPath to read: \windows\tmail.exe
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKText, add it.
5. Edit the LandscapeMenuRSKText value to read: New SMS
6. If you don't have a string called LandscapeMenuRSKArguments, add it.
7. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKArguments to read: -service "SMS" -to ""
Hope I've explained this properly, works for me : )
when you say add a string is that adding a "key" or a "value"?
im using regeditor
landscape softkeys
Will this work for the Fuze?
If so, can someone tell me where to find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila in my registry? I couldn't find it.
Thanks.
Never mind previous drjim posts
I just figured out that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE = HKLM. Doooh...
tried and failed
I want to change my landscape softkeys to Google Maps and Dictionary. I followed both ITNV's and Ouzo's instructions exactly. The only difference was that I created the Arguments that Ouzo suggested, though they don't appear to be necessary because Home RSK doesn't have an argument.
I was unclear on what precisely to put in the Arguments. The HomeLSKArguments just had Contacts (my designated softkey) without any punctuation.Ouzo, when you put -service "SMS" -to "", did you mean all of the dashes and quotes?
I made sure the both GM and D exe files were in Windows.
I also compared the Landscape RSK and LSK strings to the Home RSK and LSK that denote the standard softkeys and everything was consistent.
Still didn't work.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

what?
Most complex editor is well known to every one, Its called "NotePad"
open ur home.xml file and start playing
I am too lazy to do this :/ actually I have modified alot of home screens (with custom plugins) this way
plugins are:
Sli Clock
Smart Monitor
RJHTML
RJTime
RJShortcut
LCDPlug
Battplug
commercial ones:
Facade and Fizz traveller
they come with some embedded elements like code which u paste in ur xml file, specify coordinates (from top left corner of screen as origin) and then finally size. Format state is actually for selectable plugins. Trust me, it jsut requires a bit of HTML knowledge and some hit and trial.
But I bet its alot complex.
If u want to edit homescreen real time on ur smartphone, I would recommend using Vieka's Free WordPad (totally compatible with any text document)
I was messing with the registry and could not figure this out. I got as far as finding where the settings program launcher is....
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
Here we can add programs to the launcher and I beleive if I can add the .exe to WM All Settings page it would be great. I can't find such a file though. This is where I need help unless I'm completely wrong here. This would allow to add an All settings Tab to be added in the Launcher.
Or
If you go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\3 Changing things there should work. Would ony changing the path work? I just need to know where the .exe for the Settings page is.
It just frustrates me that I have to go to the Settings tab then All settings.
Thanks for any and all help. I am trying to learn here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: This maybe more difficult than I think. But I did figure out how to unloch the locked items and also to move them so they are at the bottom.
To Unlock go to
- HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
-Select one of the keys numbered 0-23 (a number for each of the slots. The locked items are numbers 0-3 and are ordered on the list going left to right/top to bottom)
- Just change the DWord value from 1 to 0 and you can now remove these if you wish.
- You can do the reverse to lock any other program in place. Click on it an set the value from 0 to 1.
--Now Soft Reset or go to today settings, turn off touchflo 3d and hit ok. Go back and turn TF3D back on. All set.
To Move the items go to
- HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
-The locked items are numered 0-3
-Say if you want to move settings to the bottom left you would select key '3'.
-Rename it from 3 to anything you wish for instance 'n' (or any number starting from 24) make it short because you will change it again.
-Now go to key '23' and rename that to '3'
-Go back to 'n' or whatever you named the old 3 and rename it to '23'
-Now Soft Reset or go to today settings, turn off touchflo 3d and hit ok. Go back and turn TF3D back on. All set.

There is a way to directly link to specific Settings items, see http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/windows-mobile-faq/12666-applet-shortcuts.html Just save the text string after the "=" as a plain text file with extension ".lnk" and put it in the "/windows/start menu/programs" folder, as I'm sure you know.
I've used some of these and they can save a lot of stylus work. I don't see a way to link to the general Settings page itself though.

You have to get a registry editor. I use PHM but have heargood things for Resco registry editor. Just google search for a cab.
HKLM=HKeyLocalMachine
EASIER WAY to unlock the first 4 shoutcut in start menu.....
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\0
change the "IsReadOnly" dWord value to "0"
restart your TouchFlo3D
Do the same for 1, 2, 3....
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\1
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\2
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\3

Provided you have your shortcut in one of the initial 23 positions of the Program Launcher, you could try setting the icon path from the registry, in the location as described by HTC Touch Freak in the first post

There's also an "IconPath" parameter under the 0-23 keys which you might have more success with.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that after posting the above. Managed to find out the icon is no 398 in shellres.192.dll, and inserted that into the IconPath line. Now, when I click on the shortcut, I get a message saying
"The file 'ctlpnl cplmain' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found."
I wonder if it's possible to make up your own icon, as you can in desktop windows - a bitmap of the appropriate size with ".ico" extension?
Thanks for the link Fisha21. I made a link for remove programs, put it in the programs list and also saw there was no icon. Well i thought, maybe i can easily approach the link differently.
I downloaded Link Creator 1.4 - Shortcut Creator (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494613) and just assigned the link to the right softkey.
For those who don't like that, there are many different options that it can be linked to (keymappings etc.)
Hope that helps a few peeps

Soft Reset
Is there a way yet to change the right softkey in tf3d / sense ui to the programs screen? HD Tweak can change the right softkey, to anything in its right softkey list except to Programs (Default). That's what I want to change it to though. When I choose Programs (Default) and do a soft reset, it changes to camera instead.
I've tried HD Tweak and softkeymanager and neither will do what I'm trying to do here.
it's just a registry change. i changed mine to contacts. i did mine a while ago so i forget the details. i'll try to find the link.
Yeah, I've read around and some say it's just a registry change. Usually you need a name for the softkey and a path to an exe or shortcut right?
What's the path for or the location of an exe for that programs screen (the one with the rows and columns of icons with "+" signs on them) in TF3D / Sense UI?
found some info on it at here.

So RSKPath points to left... that's really annoying. I remember reading this somewhere, but it was so ridiculous that I never tried it. LSKPath doesn't do anything though. =( Definitely a bug somewhere

That'll work if the thing you want for the softkey has an actual shortcut or exe file. I want the right softkey to be the programs screen in TF3D / Sense UI (the screen with the columns and rows of boxes with "+" signs on them).
(Updated with a version that shows a little horizontal line on the taskbar. One can now easily move the "activation area". See attached image titled "v2".
This will work on all WM versions:
Note for WM 6.5.x users: the activation area can not be placed on the clock!
Note for WM 6.5 users: setting the offset of the first setting on the option/view tab to 393 will place the horizontal line above the battery)
Note: after installation you have to start Quickmenu manually (/Program Files/QMenu/Quickmenu.exe). Another option is to do a softreset (Quickmenu is set up to start automatically after a softreset.
-----
For users familiar with Nanlings Quickmenu (QM):
I've substituted the icons in quickmenu with transparant icons so you can place the "Q button" on the taskbar where ever you like. I've made a cab installation file that will also modify the registry entry for quickmenu in such a way that
a) the transparant Q-button is placed exactly on the battery icon of the WM 6.5.3 taskbar (setted the offset of the Q pic to 371). Very nice for one-handed operation with your right hand.
b) the running tasks are placed by default in the root of the QM-menu. This transforms QM basically in a sophisticated taskmanager. I like that more.
I thought is was wortwhile to share these modifications. Just check it out, maybe you like it.
For users not familiar with Quickmenu I like to refer to this thread There you can grab the unmodified program that will work on all WM version (including WM 6.5.3 and 6.5.5)
And...
Instructions about how you can make this work on a rom with a different language can be found here. (Problem is that when you run the program on a rom with a different language code you then 0409, which is the code for WWE-roms, you get unreadable characters)
finally! can't express how thankfull I am!

Don't know yet.
Works great on artemis-FR (just need to rename mui in programfiles and we have it in english)
BTW, is there more mui with Quickmenu to have it in our own language ?
Thanks a lot
thanks for the adjustments have not tried them yet but will. question though:
I've been using QM since I saw it in one of nrg28 ROMs. the version I downloaded (no clue where from) behaves differently:
- no action if I tap the battery button, other than notification bar showing
- QM is activated by pressing left-top on taskbar (where previous Start was, now typically black area)
- and, and this is the best part imho, it is activated by a short press on the Windows HW button no need to reprogram long press of Send or End button. brilliant!
to be honest, and definitely not want deminish your hard work, these are 3 pretty nice advantages. or am I missing something?
I don't use the Q icon (default disabled) because I couldn't see the point since the Start button/text disapeared. Battery drain is not noticable.
because of default short press on Windows hardware button feature, it is perfect for task SWITCHING. task manager is of course also directly accessible.
no complaints, great find and great mod.
Really coooool man thanx a lot

You're right, without any modifications it is as beautiful as it is !
The only thing I did was to modify it for one-handed operation. I discoverd that almost everything I do is with the right tumb while holding my device in my hand. Because of this everything what is on left side of the screen is almost out of reach. (even the bottom startbutton. I have small hands, you see). That's why I created an activation field on the battery-meter by using a transparant Q-icon. Transparant, so you see the battery-icon.
Try it, you love it.

Yes, someone has made a finger-friendly setup for the HD2 along with some instructions of how to change the language. Look for it here
But you can try this version as well. It should give you an "activation field" somewhere around the battery icon. (don't know exactly where, but you can play with it, see first post). Very nice for one-handed operation.
by changing the mui files you wont change the language interface itself, simply only making it usable in non-wwe roms (all text will turn out as squares if you dont do this)

Ai, my fault. Thanks for correcting me.
For those who want to get it working in their own language: you can edit
Code:
Program Files\Qmenu\QMenuCfg.dll.0409.mui
Program Files\Qmenu\QuickMenu.exe.0409.mui
with the tools from this thread.
(don't forget to change the language code afterwards)
Maybe it's a good idea to share these translated mui files. Post them in this thread and I will point to them in the first post.

You were right: tried it, LOVE it
TIP1: to make QuickMenu window pop-up by a single press of the Windows key (the part I think is great to use it as a Task switcher): open QuickMenu window / select Quickmenu / select Option... / select 4th checkbox Register win key of device
TIP2: if you, like me, prefer to activate Quickmenu from the left side of the screen (I have a hard time hitting the battery icon ): open QuickMenu window / select Quickmenu / select Option... / select second TAB on the bottom called View / deselect 1st checkbox open QuickMenu / (you can of course also change the offset value to something you like. default is 192, but then you get an invisible icon in the middle of the taskbar - also kind of hard to find )
tnx to Appelflap for a great mod!
i just made a shortcut, add a nice icon and add it to the first row of program shortcuts. no need to sharpen my finger, no useless complications with the top icons... and it works in all ROMs.! Simple! so, this not only for the "bottom buttons" ROMs
see pic
Great program
thanks bro
After searching a while, and partly thanks to poyensa who pointed me to maxtf3d tool, I compared the whole HKCU and HKLM reg trees before and after using that to change the softkey colours, and here's the summary:
Go into the following reg folder
Code:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today
and create (if not already present) a string key named
Code:
Skin
in which you insert any name (example "myskin") and then create a folder in the same path with the same name of the skin and go in there.
In case the key "skin" already exists you have to go into the folder which goes by that name.
The key
Code:
Color_CommandBarText
is the one you want, if already present in the preset theme you need to change it, if instead you created the skin reference, or the key was not present in the preset theme, create a BINARY key by that name, and insert a 4bytes value inside.
For the black value it would be
Code:
00 00 00 00
Restart, the softkeys text colour will have changed.
To change the application name in the taskbar, you have to go into
Code:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Color\
and add a BINARY key (if not already present) named
Code:
9
in which you set the text colour in the same manner you did for the softkeys. Restart, served.
The colour for the start menu icons text should be situated in that same folder, in the BINARY key named 39, yet adding that key and restarting doesn't work.
Absolutely noone knows?
Yes, this is a bump
Hellooww
I know as a fact that it's possible, as GTX sports black text softkeys... noone actually cares to share the info?
Have a look HERE my friend...I suppose it could help you !
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493011
for me HD2 it works but only the tab for color>commandbar text, active enable box and once you have choose your favourite color in RGBA code press activate, TRefresh and softeresset afterwards
Method posted by poyensa worked, I could finally change the text colour of the softkeys using his instructions... thank you
Yet I am prone to tin2404 approach, as I need to know *how* to change that, I mean registry wise or manila wise, which are the things that I manually need to change, otherwise after each flash I will need to use max tf3d utility
Updated thread with working method.
Thankyou ephestione, i have changed the color blue (08 08 8A) using your instructions and it works!
Hi, in your first part of changing the softkey bar text you don't need to add a new skin you only have to go into HTC Black.tsk or whichever theme you're using, then edit the Color_CommandBarText with the colour code you wish to use (default is white FF FF FF 00). In here you can also edit the highlight colour of the text (Color_CommandBarText_Highlight). Hope this helps.

Yes, I have read about that also in MS KB, yet I had no entry whatsoever for any skin under that registry folder, I had to create one specifically for that purpose...
@poyensa, karma going back and forth, you pointed me to max tf3d utility, and only then I could "reverse engineer" it to devise a method
Hi all,
newbie questions,
how to add a new binary key using the PHM registry editor?
How to change the color of the taskbar clock's number?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry I don't use PHM regeditor, but for that purpose I use totalcommander, go into \\plugins folder in root, then registry, then continue from there. pressing the +Add Value+ item
Also DotFred's advanced taskmanager has a registry editor which is not bad at all

Hi ephestione,
You made my day! Thank u very much!
I installed totalcommander and followed all your instructions and I did it successfully.
Any idea on how to change the color of the taskbar clock?
Thanks in advance.
ehm, no idea about that one
Anyway happy you found a functional registry editor, also, totalcommander is a great tool in general
Anyway, if skinning the taskbar clock is what you're after, then you gotta get BattClock, search in XDA forums for that

Hi Ephestione,
Yeah, you're right, totalcommander is a great one, I'm playing with it now and it's really good, btw do u know how to go back to a previous step?
Also, I appreciate your suggestion about BattClock which is very good app, but personally I like the simplicity and nice look of the Battline one and unfortunately there is a kind of conflict between those programs.
Thank you very much.

What conflict is there? Do the Stripes occupy the same space? If yes, just make them empty in BattClock or put them in another place or show other information.
