german keyboard, french os - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi everyone
First of all, great forum here, I know it since some time and I'm also using a custom ROM for my Kaiser, but I think this is actually the first time I'm posting.
Let me explain my situation I am from Switzerland (and so is my company, where I am the Cell Phone Fleet Manager). Believe it or not, but in Switzerland, there are four official languages (German, French, Italian, and something called Romantsch which noone speaks).
Problem is that we're going to open an office in the French part of Switzerland (me and the rest of the company are located in the German part). And the employees there obviously would like to have phones.
Now, although they do speak French, they're not using a French AZERTY-Keyboard but a German QWERTZ-Keyboard. However, they want a French OS, and even worse, they want to be able to type all their freaky accents (é, à, è, ç, ...).
Now I checked back with HTC and they do not offer such a phone combinations. I also checked with our cell phone network providers, and they only offer the English phones in the French part... which leads me into trouble. What kinds of phones should i get them?
My idea is to buy German phones (that way I have the QUERTZ-Keyboad layout printed on the phone). Then load the French ROM and then load the German Keyboard driver back onto the French ROM. Question is: Is that possible?
Or do you have any better ideas?
Thanks
final

anyone ... ?

Any ideas how you can get accents to work on a FUZE keyboard? Someone developed an application that would do what i need, however I don't know how to re-map the SYM key to another one... I don't have it in my keyboard as a standalone key...

not quite sure if it will help.
I just overread the whole thread, but maybe you'll find somthing in there.

QTEK 8300 aku2 ROM found!

Here it is...
http://www.smartmobil.no/index.php?name=UpDownload&req=getit&lid=84
The thing is, I am afraid to try it because I'm not sure if it will install with English, and I don't read any other languages. Supposedly, the 8310 rom from the same site has a number of languages, including English, but I don't even have confirmation of that. Anyone willing to try and let us know?
ok, it works
well, I went ahead and tried it, and fortunately it works. default install is UK english, which I switched to US English so date/time/etc...are displayed in the manner to which I am accustomed.
The rom works beautifully. Reception blows away the SP5M rom, and something that I have never seen before...the EDGE icon works!
Re: ok, it works
I am about to install this ROM in my Qtek 8300, but first I want to know if it will give the choice of the SPANISH language. Can you check if this version has that option ?
Thank you.

spanish...
This ROM does have Spanish, but it is not listed as a 'language'. You have to select US English for language, and then under 'Locale', select spanish, Spanish, and whatever country you want (Argentina, Bolivia, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Equador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puero Rico, Uruguay, or Venezuela). Because it is not listed as a language, I am not sure if anything besides the date will come up in Spanish. Hope this helps.
Does this ROM have any advantages over the imate SP5m AKU2 rom? I'm currently using that rom but its still not quite "perfect"!

comparison w/ sp5m ROM
I tried the sp5m ROM on my qtek 8300. I didn't like it. I think that it has poor phone reception in weak areas, and the EDGE icon didn't work (not sure about connectivity because I don't actually use it yet). So, I think the qtek aku2 is better. It probably takes up more space because of all of the different languages, though.
I tried running the rom update but it always says "windows has encountered a problem..." and then closes quite quickly after it starts... is this because i have a non-brightpoint device? What should i do?
Aaagggh this is so annoying... can someone help please?
windows encountered problem...
This is not a brightpoint issue, if you used the ROM specified in the link. I installed on a unit purchased from MadMonkeyboys gadgets. Is your device app-unlocked and CID-unlocked?

dm251x, thanks for the ROM upgrade; it is much faster than the original and the SP5m ROM upgrade that I had installed previous to this one. The "E" works also.

I've updated my I-mate SP5m with Qtek 8300 and the phone is better than ever. I bought my phone second hand and the joystick has always been kinda fuc*ed up. The guy I bought it from did mention it, but it was getting more and more annoying. I had to push it hard especially downwards to get any reaction. And ofcourse I tought this was a hardware problem, I was even planning to have it repaired. But after changing to the Qtek firmware the joystick works just like it's supposed to. So if anyone else has problems with their I-mates, try changing the firmware.

I had the same problem on my QTEK 8300 with the Imate SP5M ROM update (from this site); joystick would "stick" on down push, had to push several times to get it to finally work; the latest QTEK ROM seems to fix that problem; it is faster overall; radio reception is better; and WiFi seems to connect faster also.
aku2 rom swedish
does anyone know of an aku2 rom in swedish?
mraxe, I installed this Qtek AKU2 ROM, and under Regional Settings, it has an option for Svenska (That is Swedish, isn't it?).
aku swedish
yes thats swedish
i wonder if just changing regional will make T9 work.
anyone know?
I changed the regional to Swedish, but T9 is still in English.
I upgrade for 8310. It works quite well but the shortcut hard button for contact and message change to IE and WM player. Any one help me to change to orignal. Thanks

T*Omnia English Translation of menus and Dialogs from Korean..How??

Hello all
A friend of mine is living in Korea will bring me his new T-Omnia next week. The ROM that comes with it is in Korean and he has some trouble navigating though it as everything is in Korean. I tried to find a WWE ROM for the T*Omnia but got nothing.
Question: is there an easy way to translate the menus and dialogs to English.
It won't be that easy. The T*Omnia is sold only in Korea, so no WWE ROM's exist for it. There are software solutions that can translate the menus in russian or bulgarian but I don't think something similar exists for english as it is the default language if WinMobile If course you can try to hack some other translation of WinMobile (bulgarian for example) and apply it to the T*Omnia but there are still 2 issues:
1. No guarantee that such a solution will work with korean ROM. It's intendet to localize WWE ROM's. On the other hand a friend of mine localized a NL Diamond ROM successfully, so it may be worth a shot
2. The T*Omnia has a (still) non-standart resolution. Just look at the HD compatibility list for problematic apps So this is also a possible issue.
Anyway. Here is the link to such a localization program. It supports a number of languages, so it may be of some help to you.

you could always cook us an english rom- i would love a T*Omnia running english!!!
none of the software in the link seem to have the ability to localize to english
i guess having the ability to simply have the main menus in english is "good enough" untill Samsung releases a WWE version of the rom. if someone can help with that, that would be great.
anybody can help with this?
I second this - I have a sch-m490 could anyone cook an english rom.
Same here, need that rom badly. Anyone please?
BUMP please help with this. Im in korea and i really cant use my phone right now. I couldnt enjoy my omnia. Please please help.
Please guys im so desperate here. Anyone please.

Original Dutch Vodafone ROM?

Hi there,
I have been stupid enough to start messing around with my Dutch HTC Magic, from Vodafone, without making a backup first. I bricked it but was able to get it going again, thanks to a link on this forum. I have loaded an original English HTC ROM.
Though both the camera app and the keyboard app are way better than those originally loaded on the phone, I am beginning to be really p.... off with having the dutch words I type be changed into english words and missing the speed benefit of the previous dutch predictive spell check.
Therefore I'd like to install the original Dutch ROM again.
Can anybody here direct me to somewhere where I can get my hands on the original Dutch Vodafone ROM?
Thanks in advance
Jan

How to add native language support?

Hi guys, this is my first thread in XDA!
Been lurking around a bit though the past couple of weeks and let me point out how amazing this community is!
OK so here is my query (sorry if this has been posted here before):
I'm a Swede, living in Sweden. I've ordered the SNS (my first android device so bare with me) from the USA and it should arrive sometime next week.
I know that the phone doesn't come with any support for the Swedish language. My guess is that they just want to make it harder for retailers to grey import the phone to a region where it shouldn't be sold (even though it will be sold in Sweden soon...).
So, is it possible to add support for the Swedish language somehow? (Keyboard, dictionary, system language...etc).
If so, how do I do it? I've seen some keyboard apps (pre-Gingerbread keyboard) for the Swedish language on the market but some of them don't work with Gingerbread and most of them seem to come with a lot of bugs (except for Swype). Also, I would need a dictionary, and the system language is nice but not crucial.
Isn't there a better way?
Thanks in advance guys!
/matteb2
Hi, a swede with the NSN here as well
To my knowledge, there are no way to get native swedish language support on the stock rom. The "nödlösning", that actualy works quite well is to use a third party keybord. I'm using Swiftkey, that has a swedish dictionary and swedish text prediction.
But if someone know about a way to get a swedish stock gingerbread keyboard, I would be delighted to hear.
Thanks for the reply
I guess I'll have to use either Swiftkey or Swype. If anyone knows another solution I would be happy to hear it

Change System Language

Hello,
I've purchased an HOS from a retailer in Romania. I've received a device which was intended for France.
No biggie, but I'm not able to change the system language - I have only English (France) as a viable option.
Is there a way to change the "country" of the device ? I'm not interested on the Google Play market, but rather the device "ID".
I really need you help to point me in the right direction...
So when you started the device first time and the guide came on. You couldnt choose anything but english?
I could choose from Deutch, English, Espanol, Francais, Italiano, Netherlands and Portuges.
No Romanian whatsoever.
If I go to Language and keyboard, the language is reported as English (France).
I got same, my phone is also from France...
I think it should be possible to do so somehow, as the soft should be same for all devices.
Please see my post HERE it'll get you fixed up.
Man, it worked like a charm.
Don't really understand why wasn't available from the initial selection.
Greetings and recognition upon you.
Glad to help.
