extract the file nk.nbf, how are inside the rar to a folder... copy NBF转NB_NBA.exe and typho5.exe (this files is in attachments) to the same folder you have extract...and run NBF转NB_NBA.exe ... they will convert, the file nk.nbf to this 80040000-OS.nb ... copy the file you have converted to another past... and copy this file :Rom_Upgrade.exe and the folder: rapi, to the folder you have put the converted file! and execute Rom_Upgrade.exe !!

I want to thank you for posting the instructions above.
I went through hell locating, downloading and trying so many different w6 roms.
I usually ended up at the 3 color screen or a failed install.
Although the first release of the chinese version for prophet installed easily I was unable to install the orwell file.
The chinese RC7 file was successfuly installed this morning through trial and error.
I tried the Qtek rom but it would not install on my device, so I had to use the RUU version.
The RC7 .nb and .nbf files refused to install with all known means.
I eventually renamed the files and started to make progress
Even then the install was full of error messages.
The worst thing is that very few posters on this forum have been of much help to those of us who are struggling with WM6 on the Prophet.
Those who had the files and the experience decided to be selfish!
I can understand the need for caution on the forum after Microsoft's warning , but if you go to the wizard or universal or magician threads they discuss WM6 freely, and links to downloads are flying all over.
So why are Prophet users treated like 2nd class citizens?
Ps. Now we need step by step instructions on adding the wwe .mui to convert RC7 into English.

You need to check your PC for viruses.

So it means either the original rar archive was infected, or your computer infected them

well i had read the forum instructions and for change boot and welcom screen.
but something is wrong with the typho5. its suppose to extract nb 9200000 files but the application starts without extracting nobthing.
i would like to change the welcome screen from the PDAMobiz to some thing personal. i follow instruction but they dont fit the results i get.

well to make it easy to understand where we stand this is the only file we must change. but there is a problem. the original file is read only and can not be replaced nor rename or moved. not with total comander , not even unlock extended rom. after a small research i found that the file is integrated with in the original ROM not the extended.
so i am looking for a tool to delete/install files into the ROM when present on the device.
it sims that that cannot be done. we must dump the present rom, sort of cook it on our PC than re- install it with changes done.
at the same time since most of us are very happy with the ROM as is , but want to personal it littel bit, its worth a dedicated tool.
i will look into it. if i find a way i will post it here.

Read the previous two posts and look at the pdf manual in the download - it describes the tools you need to change you images (without cooking a complete rom)
And it doesnt need a hard reset either!

If you have created your nk.nbf file, you can replace the one in this file (rename it to zip)
rename it back to exe and execute, it worked on my prophetG4 with WM6 on it
Hi ppl,
I've collected all the tools I use to translate roms from our chefs (God bless them). I don't want to steal anyone's work so the most of the credit should go to the creator of the tools I've packed, so all but Muiver, 2bytecut, Go.bat that were made by me.
It should be easy for everyone to make a translation following these steps (it's easier to do than to read ...):
1) Download and install windows PROFESSIONAL image in your language (source language) from here
2) Download your preferred foreign language (destination language) ROM (i.e. TNT or OCATIVOI or whatever ... )
3) copy the images over microwave dir, go to the command prompt and run GO "your language image file" "foreign language nbf file":
4) Let it run ... When Muiver opens up, set the right languages, pick your preferred options and hit GO.
MuiVer automatically looks for the right directories in the MS dump and copies it over the image that needs to be translated, modifying some files and making things you don't have to care about. At this stage you only have to choose, based on your (future) experience, what you want to copy and what not. The options are : Mui directories (OS), Other Mui files (OEMapplications), Other non MUI files (other language related files like staticdict); The more you copy, the most will be translated, more problem you may experience (missing texts, or applications that goes blank screen).
I suggest to always copy the MUI directories and experiment with other options.
5) You're nearly done only have to edit initflashfiles.dat according to your language. This file contains the localized name of some system directories and especially the start menu and start menu items names.
When wincmp opens up you will see two child windows: the left one is the file you have to edit, The right pane c0ntains the initflashfiles localized for your language. Edit the left one, according to what you can see in the right one and then "save source" from File menu. Take big care to the name of the "startup" dir (i.e. in italian it must be changed in "Esecuzione automatica") otherwise your rom won't start the customization (no screen alignment, no initial settings .. etc etc..). I suggest not to change the name of the links in the appbutton section however.
6) When nb2nbf opens up, set everything like always (look at the picture) and hit "translate" button
Flash your new translated rom (tools included)
It's a beta, just test .. I am quite happy with it. I'll update the script to run with other devices.

New tests shows that a very little number of .mui files (out of .mui dirs) are compatible with our WM6 releases ... for safe translations, do not copy them at all (MuiVer->File->options->Other Mui Files -> ignore all)
Hint: Take a look to the initFlashfiles.dat in the dump.src dir before editing the new one.

it doesnt work with me i have downloaded all image file's from microsoft and when i instald it i get a pocket pc dir a tools dir a Images License txt file and a Images Readme file so i placed it all including the nbf file in the microwave dir and pressed go and a msdos screen flashes for about i mili second and then it does nothing did i do somthing wrong??

Downloaded from MS my localized image and installed it (I don't have the emulator installed, just the image).
Already downloaded my english ROM (in my case, TNT 5.0)
Did the GO stuff in this way "GO <localized-Image> <TNT5-ROM>
Then flashed the resultant ROM and it is still in English...
... What I did wrong?
Could you please post a detailed explanation (if it is possible with printscreens) about this process?

It basically translate the OS and some HTC applications, but due to the high number of versions around, it is safe to only transalte the OS part. I've experienced problems with some HTC applications not displaying properly after translations. So you better make some tests excluding or not some files / dir from Muiver. I'll try to release a more flexible Muiver soon

Did you move your old nk.nbf in a different place ? The script renames it in nk-old.nbf but this is sometimes not enough: the update utility will still pick the old one in place of the new one. The easiest solution is to move the nk-old.nbf away from the microwave dir.

I am at work right now and can't take pictures, I will do a better explanation with images when I'll be at home later. By now I can try to explaint it better by words:

- The second application is a notepad instance, opened on your initFlashfiles.dat. This file contains the localized name of some system directories and especially the start menu. I suggest you to take a look to the initflashfiles present in the microwave\dump.src dir that is the localized version for your language and change the one in the notepad accordingly. The only part that REALLY NEED to be changed is the name of the "startup" dir (i.e. in italian it must be changed in "Esecuzione automatica") otherwise your rom won't start the customization (no screen alignment, no initial settings .. etc etc..)
- At this point the script will have built the nk.nb file that must be translated in a nk.nbf file in order to be flashed. This is done with the last program that opens up : nb2nbf. You will find a set of row in the middle of the screen, check the first checkbox in the first line and in the box on the right pick the nk.nb file from the microwave dir. On the same line choose OS in the combobox on the right and then just click on the text box on the left. A number will appear, it is all ok. Now click on translate and you're done.

As for the error, I've never seen that But I can see on the command prompt that you had a previous error "acces is denied". I would try to start clean, deleting dump and dump.src directories. Ah, be sure to have administration rights. Let me know

I flashed the resultant rom to my Wizard and it is working fine but some issues arised with built-in apps. By example, the phone app doesn't start and built in software keyboard doesn't show up...
I was wondering if it is possible to extract the OS part from the MS image and pack it into a nk.nbf file and flash it (I mean, do not transkate a existing rom but using the OS inside the .bin file and flash it to the device)...

I love this forum. I have learn't so much so far, but still have a lot to learn. Epecially programming for WM. Anyway, on to the reason for posting this thread.
Since learning that I could flash from my microSD card thanks to the tutorial by renaming the *.nbh to KAISIMG.nbh and placing it in the root folder. I have been making custom 1st splash screens to flash remotely as well as making a directory on my microSd ("Flashing from MicroSD") and creating directories for original roms such as (\WM6 Originals\Alex\KAISIMG.nbh) or (\WM6.1\SleuthV3\KAISIMG.nbh), (I also have KAISIMG for just Radios under a different folder) so when I want to try a new rom, flash a different radio or splash, I can at anytime.
Here's the thing I love using the splash tools (maker and converter) and Rom Builder. But obviously you need a PC. Would anyone by able to recreate a mobile version of these tools so we could do most things (customisation wise) whilst we are mobile.
I.E. I want to make and flash a new splash whilst mobile from a *.jpg. I could use this program to convert to .bmp format needed, then convert to *.nb thsn to *.nbh. I could then use a file manager to rename to KAISIMG.nbh then place in microSD root folder and flash.
What you think? Would this be too hard to do? Anyone want more mobile control of your mobile customisation?
Other tools that could be ported would also help. I make the welcome.96.png with my mobile graphics problems.
Well for the moment I'll stick to making several themed splash into the KAISIMG.nbh to flash remotely (making sure you have enough battery mind/dont flash on 10% or something/I recommend over 10% for mobile flashing your splashes and over 50% for you WM Roms)
Got a collection of around 19 Slide out Keyboard sounds inc Knightrider, Thundercats, Xbox 360 boot sound and others. When I have a couple more made I'll post my Sliding keyboard Sounds.cab if anybody wants it over the next Couple of days. (Some sounds gathered from other users share i.e. Mario etc)

the files consist of 2 part. the 1st part is around 48MB and the 2nd part is around 14MB, but after i extract it, both files contain the same files and at the same size, which is Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater in both .rar files. thts really make me confuse

I got my treo 750v one week ago from Palm after several monhs in their reparation center and it come back wih WM5 and now WM6 is not available in any official site.
Searching on web I got upgrade but for Spanish version.

the updater.exe file is dated 16/10/07 is this recent enough to be WM6.1?

I found this on a page in some Asian Language, but I downloaded it, unpacked it, and used an SD card to install it and it works great! It is a very slow download however!

There has never been an official WM6.1 update for the Treo 750, so the short answer is no. That file will get you WM6.0.

How does it not install for you??? Did you try the SDversion instead of the Desktop version?
Any updates on this file? Can't seem to find it anywhere is Palm actively eliminating this from the internet?
