i have a backupfile of pimbackup, can i open it from windows?i must recover some phone numers but my wm pda is broken!!!
change the extension of the backup file to zip, Extract with winrar and you'll find a file called contacts_date.pbc, use notepad or excel to open this file and you will be able to see your contacts.
I prefer excel cause you will have a lot of strange looking characters to deal with...
Easier alternative, if you have the windows mobile emulator installed on your PC, just do a restore from PIM backup and you can see all your contacts...

Is this possible? I'd like to back everything up including software installed so if anything goes tits up i can just revert to my backup.
Also, how do you flash a rom?
Thankyou
anyone? please help
forget it, i just flashed the rom..
fortunately everything worked ok.
This is the way i backup my phone
Your phone should be Registry and App unlocked..
Sync your phone, copy folders /Application Data - /Program Files - /Windows/Start Menu - /Windows/Start Up - to your Desktop (PC)
Install Registry Explorer with Resco Registry
Export HKCR,HKCU, HKLM then copy the .reg files on PC
Backup Contact, SMS, Call History with Jeyo Mobile Companion
--NOW DO YOUR HARD RESET OR REFLASHING THE SAME ROM--
Now, restoration...
App Unlock your device
Copy folders /Application Data - /Program Files - /Windows/Start Menu - /Windows/Start Up - to your Phone thru Active Sync. (Overwrite all)
Copy the .reg files from your PC to phone..
Install Resco Explorer with Resco Registry and Import the .reg files
Restore your Contacts thru Jeyo Mobile Companion
Restart device
there you go, you got now a clean setup of your device with all your apps and customizations. One thing, some apps wont work/launch with this procedure, you may need to reinstall them and if you try to, it will prompt that it couldn't be removed and if you wanna still continue installing, just hit Yes and install it on the same directory where it was on your previous setup.
Hello!
Is there a way to read content od PIM backup file and .pwi note files made on HTC smart phone on PC with windows?
I lost my phone and all i have i those backup files on my pc, how can i read them without the device?
I would like to be able to open pimbackup files on pc as well.
I think it should be possible to start a windows mobile simulator on your pc, install pimbackup inside this simulator and then restore your config to be able to access your data...not really the easiets way, but it should be possible.
I have PIM backups from recently...is there anyway i could open those on my pc and view my contacts? allll my numbers are gone :\\\\
Copy the backup file to your PC, then change the extension to .zip and open the file with winzip or 7-zip. Open the sub-files with excel-they're just comma-separated (or colon or semi-colon, can't remember) files. This only works if you unchecked the binary backup box.
As I flash my HD2 weekly (sometimes more frequently ) I try to adapt my program cabs with my settings and my registration info. This way I don't have to adjust my program settings and registrationinfo manualy. This saves a lot of time when flashing a new rom.
For most programs this is working perfect but for the resco program's I can't find the registration info in the register. Does anyone know where Resco File Explorer stores its serial/license number?
you could try kheb, maybe it'll help

Thanks, I will try it.
Hi. Just have a look into your registry (use CeRegEditor or sth.). Have a look there for HKCU/Software/Resco, or HKLM/Software/Resco - somewhere you'll find the entry that saves your reg-info. I found it for every program that I bought and use (and these are quite a lot). If you won't find it within the registry, then you will have to backup your whole program-folder as it can also contain registration-info.
Hi.
Resco Serials are stored in a file. Go in Windows Dir and copy the File wmtrigger.dat. After you flash new Rom you must install Resco Programs and then copy the file into the Windows dir. Now your Programs are registered. Make it all the time with Sashimi and everything works fine

most keys are stored in the registry dude... what i do to avoid re-registering all my apps and games... i use the registry editor plugin by resco, search the registry for all the serials after i entered them, then copy the key to the storage card.... transfer the key to my desktop, then import the key to the cab using WinCE cab manager... this way you wont have to manually restore the keys all over again... i save myself this trouble bcos i have over 30 apps and games
i also did this with resco file man...

Hi,
Thanks this is working. It works for all the resco programs which are using the owner info of the device. Essential is also to put the owners name in your device. I've made a cab with the wmtrigger.dat + the owner info and this is working perfect now.
Thanks again for the info.
Let me know if you can extract the contents of a file. pib (Pim backup) so you can synchronize with Microsoft Outlook.
I switched from WM 6.5 to Android 2.1, but before doing this I made the backup with PIM Backup, they can not now open the same with your handheld like to know if there is a program for Android that opens files with this extension, or alternatively one for PC.
