Everything seems to be working very well. Now to test battery life.
Thanks MickyMax for extracting the radio and sharing the find.

Work well here using HyperDragon III (5/9).
Seem something change but can't tell what...maybe later
Just one thing the GPS lock is normal (20/30 sec without assistance [AGPS,...])

Thanks for sharing!
Well i've been using it for 3 hours w/ email push every 15 minutes on two accounts, a few sms and some light browsing. So far i'm still at 98%, will keep updating as the day goes along.

My review
Pros: After some use i must say the reception is great phone was either on 3g or H immediately after flash.... opera was quick as well as gps lock.
Now for the cons maybe i can try diff. rom and spl combo but using natf v2 3.56spl i had to get off the phone during the middle of a convo b4 my phone melted and immediately flash another radio. thats right another heater. My tilt got so hot and battery drain was terrible from 100% to 67% after 17 mins on the phone. I also had 4 random call drops...

I don't see this issue. I'm running the same rom but my spl is 3.29 due to the fact that 3.56 has been named a crap spl by cmonex. Maybe try 3.29 spl and see if you have the same heating issue.

Tell me about 3.56 being crap! I have been using it forever no problems. Then I tried the EMO radio and it was HORRIBLE for battery life. I decided to try 3.29 and what a difference it makes!

What exactly do u mean what a difference it makes? is this in regard to what? ur battery life using emo radio and 3.29 or polaris...
@ P1Tater I will try using 3.29 and report back

So far I'm getting good data and phone, battery life seems decent so far. No heat issues (using 3.56). I'll be flashing 3.29 and seeing if this combo is finally it for me (I've been flashing radios radios like no tomorrow here...). Oh, I'm also using NaTF V2 Beta... might as well flash V2.1 as well now LOL.
[Edit: corrected version numbers for hard SPL used]

for those of u experiencing no heat issue are u actually talking on the phone for over 5 to 10 mins or just navigating the device

In my experience my heating issues have virtually every single time been related to my phone trying to connect to the internet and not being able to. For whatever reason it happens, sometimes it won't browse and when that happens my device gets hot, and my battery drops like...well...something that drops fast. lol
Sometimes the solution is as simple as a soft reset for me, which i personally think is the reason we see such inconsistent results between all those who claim that the heating issue is spl related, but i do concede that the understanding of how they all interact is well beyond my skill level.

Radio roms: Which gives best signal and reception?

Hi I am running NBD v.8.3 wm6 on my mda and I am just hoping someone could tell me what the best possible combination is to create the strongest signal and create the best reception.
I have been using the T-Mobile 2.69.11 radio and was not entirely satisfied. It seemed quieter for some reason and some people could not hear me as well as with the standard T-Mobile 2.26.11 radio.
Right now I am using the Cingular 2.47.11 radio with the XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2 and my signal seems a little stronger. Like when I would be sitting here at my computer, I would only have like 1 bar with the 2.69.11 radio but now I have 2 but that still isnt good enough for me.
Is there any other combination that I have missed or a better radio out there? If anyone has any ideas, please post and let me know.
hey i got the same problem.. i have the tmobile mda and i think reception sucks, i would lose reception while just sitting in my house and at work. so wat i did.. is i flashed my fone with the tmobile 2.26 offical rom and than i flashed it with the XM6r3 rom just cause it works great for me and than i flashed it with the T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM and so far it seems to be working great for me i'll have 1 or 2 bars at home but i havent lost reception yet... so give it a try and let me know how it goes..
The T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM is the best I've used. I'm even using it now with the latest official Cingular ROM for the 8125 (Wizard 100)
what about the2.47 Cingular one
I cannot find the radio ROM 2.47 anywhere, can you guys help me and as far as 2.19 T-mobile UK only how is the battery life on your phone ?
Thanks

I think there is still a radio rom directory on the XDA ftp and it might be in there.

Hi guys!
Is there any documentation, or just some user white papers, of what the difference between the diff. radio roms are? Does anyone even know, beyond the observation of which one gave their particular phone better reception? I'm curious just for the sake of knowledge
I'm running the 2.25.11 radio rom, on my Cingular 8125, and it works good, but lately I've missed/ignored a couple calls and my phone doesn't have the "missed call" icon on the top bar, my Phone program registers a missed call though.
I want to load up different radio roms and see which one works the best though, however I can't remember the instructions on doing that to my G4 CID-Locked phone. I've been looking around the forums and can't find it. Anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: I found the thread I was looking for. This thread talks about another radio rom and a utility to use on G4 phones, which can be found here.
Question for any knowledgeable people reading this. Can the G4 utility mentioned in the other thread I linked to, be used to load cooked roms too? Or is it safe to just load radio roms with it only?
I've tried them all and I've found the 2.61 radio rom to have the best signal.

I like the cingular stock radio 2.25.11
For me 2.47.11 radio rom works best.....Goodyear Az AT&T
I loaded 2.61 and haven't seen any difference. I may play with the radio roms later. I loaded the bundle referenced earlier. I wonder how much difference a ROM can really make on radio reception though. Still, an interesting experiment.
Yo all! Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306296
Thanks Wizeman! A good thread. He did is homework, it appears.
I've loaded the ROM he recommends but don't see any differece of note. Although a marginal difference would be difficult to see without a more scientific method than mine.
My desk is located where I will get and lose the signal - mostly no signal at all. I still see the occassional signal capture but no more than usual. Again, not very scientific. Nonetheless, I'll use the 2.19 since it doesn't appear to have any less performance and somebody has some measurements to support the case for this ROM.
I am confused though, since signal level is a hardware measurement (electrical measurement) and not a software issue. Oh well.
I am the one who did the measurements starter of that topic and of course still using 2.19.11
Oops ... didn't look, just read the post! I'm sure it was good for a chuckle though.
2.19.11 - Best Radio ROM
Undoubtedly, 2.19.11 is the best radio ROM for reception. I was always alternating between 1 bar and no signal at my work with 2.15 and now with 2.19.11, I have atleast 2-3 bars at all times. I am on T-mobile network.
I had numerous missed calls before but since the last 2 days after changing to 2.19.11 I haven't had one.

That's a vBullentin flaw, expensive forum script, cheapest search feature. It doesn't search number. You should do a search such as "Kaiser radio *" with the quotes, * being the wildcard.
I suggest google as stated by petervbeck
15.32 testing data
Been using this radio for a full day now and it is quite better than the 11.31 radio I was using... Clear Voice calls... Better 3g and HSDPA Strenght stay in HSDPA more than 3g.. the oppisite of before.... "more bars in more places" hate to use that but... GPS works fine most of the time..a couple of time it was slow to start but once up was fine... even after running gps test and the GPS tool.....
For all those who want to know
Using it with Dutty's V4 without a problem.
I was using 12.29 before and I didn't notice much difference, haven't check GPS yet.

Battery life seemed pretty bad with .15.32 with Dutty's DualTouch V4 for me.
Switched back to .12.32
AT&T Wireless in California.
Compatible on Orange FR ROM
No GPS problems
I have no GPS problems with the latest Dutty release and this radio.
Quick question
I've never flashed a radio before.
Can u flash it after flashing the ROM or it makes no difference?

Question:
If your device came with .12.11
If you flash back to .12.11 radio, will it support my network (as it did before) or will it make a difference if it's AT&T radio of the same version?
Sorry but I never flashed radios before and always avoided
Flashing back to 12.11 will be no problem, however I'd recommend 12.17 - I have better battery life and sig strength with .17 than either .11 or 12.32 in Norcal AT&T
p.s. make sure you're HardSPL first obviously!

Have had no issue with it thus far. Connections are very quick...battery life is still undetermined but that last Polaris Radio I was trying worked very well. I will step outside to try out the GPS. Signal strength seesm to be the same but I need to do some more testing on this. While driving today I usually lose connection at one spot and I didn't have this happen today.
GPS worked great got a lock in Google Maps in 1 second...no joke.

Any battery life test result on this one?
Edit: Someone beat me to this question, sorry
I do not know alltheway, Radio numbers are really confusing, we do not know change logs between them I got 1.58.26.20 on my Kaiser (an official Radio released with the 3.02 build)
Howyou like Dutty's WM6.1? I like it, ut having issue with BT voice speed dialer. Usually when I press the botton on BT headset, it will beep and start voice dialer. It works for a short while and then stop working. Everytimes when I press the bottom, it goes to phone pad screen..... strange...
Now back to 3.03, which I have less issues... any suggestion?

Battery life with radio 1.58.25.14 with Dutty's ROM: Battery life will last for 411 min. Not bad for this Radio / ROM combo. I'm going to test the other one now. I don't think 1.58.25.14 gave me very good reception inside my office but then again I barely get one bar.

Best Radio for Tilt on Dutty 6.1?

I think you may be the first person to ask this question. Wait...uh oh:
Fifty people may have asked this question in the main thread...the one where you found out about the ROM. Aside from that though...nothing.
...well, except for in the Wiki. But that is the only other place.
...unless you were to look at the other threads asking the same question. But surely there is no where else...right?!

Don't you think I already found that thread and read about it in the other forum. I'm asking ATT Tilt users specifically their input on the best radio. If you don't have any input then keep it to yourself... I'm not asking for anything but an opinion of the best radio with his version of 6.1... jeez you guys are quick to flip the bird... get over yourself

all's good.
Tried 1.58 and it burned through the battery. 1.64 works as good or better than the dedicated AT&T radios.
I just installed 1.58.26.20 and also realized it was burning through the battery very fast. I am interested to know if 1.64 is better for battery life on the ATT Tilt. Thanks.
I had 1.64 and it was ok. Cant say anything about battery since I had it for a day. I lost a bar of signal - or two - overall. Now on the new ATT rom, and everything works great. Signal is almost always at peak and battery is fine.
i used 1.64 like everyone else said to, and my signal was noticably worse. switched to 1.58 and it was fine. no battery drain problems... but i've been off the charger for shorter times recently, so not sure.
i tried all the radios on dutty's and the GPS never worked, switched to sleuth, everything worked.

I'm quite desperate, using 1.58.26.20 for few days and it is eating up the battery extremly fast. without bluetooth, wi-fi, even without push-mail on I don't get a whole day (before 1 to 1,5 or 2).
with 1.64 I felt the same, but going to try again.

I actually got better signal with 1.58.26.20 than I did with the other 1.64 that I tried. The battery drain is a pain though.
I've had serious problems getting a reliable GPS connection with anything other than radio 1.64 so this would be my recommendation. Also, I've had GPS running today for a long time and the rear mobile is still cool. Usually it runs warm with other radios so I guess that battery isn't being pushed as hard??
gps...
I went ahead and tried both of the newer 1.64 radios and really didn't see much difference. I stayed with the most recent release. I was able to get my GPS working after running the quick GPS then the GPS tool. It wasn't working at first because of my location. I tried it at work and it was fine and locked onto satellites... Try changing locations and running the GPS tools first.

In terms of normal usage... not really, but I must admit I have been using my Tilt more for messing around with than actually being productive since I got it
When testing a new ROM I always do alot of mode switch tests as I like to have a quick swap.
However, for purposes of this test, I didn't switch mode at all.

alright, cool thanks.
Earlier this evening I had to reset my phone. It sat in stand by for at least 45 min and i was playing with it, using touchflo, tapping, etc. All was normal.
However, after flipping out the keyboard I noticed that it briefly started to have its freezing moments when flipping back to portrait. So perhaps this could be looked into a little.

Well not to get too off topic from the SPL issue, I will say that I have found portrait/landscape mode swapping to be very inconsistent on all ROMS. On the fastest ROMs I have tried the screen rotates in about 1 second (1 mississippi count). On the worst ROMs it is about a 3 mississippi count. However, the fast ROMs will sometimes perform at more of a 1.5-2.0 second interval and the slower ROMs will sometimes perform closer to the 1.5 marks. I don't think this has to do with what i have running etc as I will usually do these test just after a soft reset (giving the phone about 60-120 seconds to finish starting up first). But I'll leave it at that...back to the topic at hand....

Ok I would try Jockys HardSPL 1.1

These are the results of Jocky's 1.1...they are equivalent to HardSPL:
Jockey SPL (SPL-1.1.JockyW)
1588
1588
1558
1588
Average:1580
As far as the other ones you attached... HardSPL is I believe the normal OliPro one which I already tested. JumpSPL is a "soft" SPL and can't actually be flashed permanently. Correct me if I'm wrong.
As you are I am very sceptical as to how the SPL could have any affect on the OS. However I did read one interesting post in the other thread.
The poster brought up the fact that the SPL loads the OS. If the SPL improperly starts that load out before the .dlls take over it could have an effect on the OS.
So far that is the most logical reason I have heard thus far. I would love to see olipro jocky or one of the other heavy hitters weigh in on the issue.
Till then I think Ill stick with HardSPL.
I'm not a fancy-schmancy tester-roony (what? ), but I can state with certainty that my Tilt, which is currently running L26's Diamond v4 ROM, has seen major improvements since flashing to the new HTC 3.28 SPL.
With the L26 v4 ROM in particular, I was experiencing screen lag several times per minute. With the new SPL, it has not happened once!
I am almost positive that a benchmark is not going to show touch screen lag. Also, the improvement does not seam to be quantifiable, but noticeable none the less.
Fact of the matter is bengalih has been the only one I have seen to try to quantify and qualify the effects (if any) of the newer 6.1 based roms and various SPL's. I applaud his efforts, and further investigation is warranted IMHO.
Frankly, posting one-off reports of success or failure using one SPL or other using one ROM or other pale in comparison to a well documented method and means, which bengalih has at least attempted. Too often this forum relies on "Ok this is what works for me" posts, rather than sytematic efforts to determine what will work for most under such and such conditions. The results should be quantifiable and replicable. Bengalih has attempted that, suggested a process, and is asking for replication or refinement of the procedure. That is what this thread is for IMHO.
You may not like the message, but dont kill the messenger.
Back to the topic!
I dont post much but on this issue I am totally convinced that the SPL is causing issues. I started having the freezing with the official att rom 1.62 after I had been using other cooked roms and hardSPL. Just yesterday I switched back to the SPL that came with att 1.62 and I havent had a freeze at all. I am dying to hear from Pof, Jockey, Oli anyone of those that know how the SPL really works and perhaps a new version of HardSPL. So let me reiterate, no placebo here, problem solved by reverting to original spl. However I dont like being stuck with official roms.

Please qualify and quantify your results using the procedures outlined in the original post. Or maybe suggest new procedures? THEN you will be on-topic. I'm happy whatever you did works for you, however it is practically irrelevant in this thread.

I agree with most of your post.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE OFFICIAL ROMS TO USE OFFICIAL SPL!!!
1. HARD SPL
2. Flash L26 V4 (Cause it is the best out there)
3. Official SPL
If you want to try another ROM (but you wont, till L26 V5) simply flash HARD SPL, repeat.

Having a large test group try two SPLs and report back their findings is a procedure.

The original poster tested not only two, but as many as five SPL's if I recall correctly. At-large testing is good, however your personal assessment will be drowned in another flood of "me too" and "me-not" posts. Which IMHO is counterproductive. Stick to the procedure, test, and post. Suggest changes to the procedure, test, then post. Otherwise you are just noise.

Procedure:
Device=Tilt
Use original rom.....no freezing
HardSPL OliPof
Flash Rom I tried aprox. 10 of the most popular. Then perform common tasks on each. ..... freezing occurs, non responsive screen and keys random times.
Didnt matter if it was a 6.0 rom or 6.1 rom. Freezing occured on both but the freezes were more frequent on 6.1 roms.
Flashed updated ATT SPL and then flashed official ATT 1.62 and havent experienced a freeze in 24 hours. Note this rom did have the freezing when HardSPL was used.
