Best Radio for Tilt on Dutty 6.1? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I think you may be the first person to ask this question. Wait...uh oh:

I think you may be the first person to ask this question. Wait...uh oh:
Fifty people may have asked this question in the main thread...the one where you found out about the ROM. Aside from that though...nothing.
...well, except for in the Wiki. But that is the only other place.
...unless you were to look at the other threads asking the same question. But surely there is no where else...right?!
Whoops...a little sarcasm slipped! My bad!

A list of radios and threads relating to them. Found it using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375

thanks for the flame....
Don't you think I already found that thread and read about it in the other forum. I'm asking ATT Tilt users specifically their input on the best radio. If you don't have any input then keep it to yourself... I'm not asking for anything but an opinion of the best radio with his version of 6.1... jeez you guys are quick to flip the bird... get over yourself

all's good.

Tried 1.58 and it burned through the battery. 1.64 works as good or better than the dedicated AT&T radios.

I just installed 1.58.26.20 and also realized it was burning through the battery very fast. I am interested to know if 1.64 is better for battery life on the ATT Tilt. Thanks.

I had 1.64 and it was ok. Cant say anything about battery since I had it for a day. I lost a bar of signal - or two - overall. Now on the new ATT rom, and everything works great. Signal is almost always at peak and battery is fine.

i used 1.64 like everyone else said to, and my signal was noticably worse. switched to 1.58 and it was fine. no battery drain problems... but i've been off the charger for shorter times recently, so not sure.

i tried all the radios on dutty's and the GPS never worked, switched to sleuth, everything worked.

I'm quite desperate, using 1.58.26.20 for few days and it is eating up the battery extremly fast. without bluetooth, wi-fi, even without push-mail on I don't get a whole day (before 1 to 1,5 or 2).
with 1.64 I felt the same, but going to try again.

Which is the the "new ATT rom"?

Mods please close this redundant thread.

I have at&t tilt
Use 1.64 radio with it.
1.58.26.20 drains more battery and signal isn't too great either.

I actually got better signal with 1.58.26.20 than I did with the other 1.64 that I tried. The battery drain is a pain though.

I've had serious problems getting a reliable GPS connection with anything other than radio 1.64 so this would be my recommendation. Also, I've had GPS running today for a long time and the rear mobile is still cool. Usually it runs warm with other radios so I guess that battery isn't being pushed as hard??

gps...
I went ahead and tried both of the newer 1.64 radios and really didn't see much difference. I stayed with the most recent release. I was able to get my GPS working after running the quick GPS then the GPS tool. It wasn't working at first because of my location. I tried it at work and it was fine and locked onto satellites... Try changing locations and running the GPS tools first.

Radio roms: Which gives best signal and reception?

Hi I am running NBD v.8.3 wm6 on my mda and I am just hoping someone could tell me what the best possible combination is to create the strongest signal and create the best reception.
I have been using the T-Mobile 2.69.11 radio and was not entirely satisfied. It seemed quieter for some reason and some people could not hear me as well as with the standard T-Mobile 2.26.11 radio.
Right now I am using the Cingular 2.47.11 radio with the XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2 and my signal seems a little stronger. Like when I would be sitting here at my computer, I would only have like 1 bar with the 2.69.11 radio but now I have 2 but that still isnt good enough for me.
Is there any other combination that I have missed or a better radio out there? If anyone has any ideas, please post and let me know.
hey i got the same problem.. i have the tmobile mda and i think reception sucks, i would lose reception while just sitting in my house and at work. so wat i did.. is i flashed my fone with the tmobile 2.26 offical rom and than i flashed it with the XM6r3 rom just cause it works great for me and than i flashed it with the T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM and so far it seems to be working great for me i'll have 1 or 2 bars at home but i havent lost reception yet... so give it a try and let me know how it goes..
The T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly ROM is the best I've used. I'm even using it now with the latest official Cingular ROM for the 8125 (Wizard 100)
what about the2.47 Cingular one
I cannot find the radio ROM 2.47 anywhere, can you guys help me and as far as 2.19 T-mobile UK only how is the battery life on your phone ?
Thanks

Hi guys!
Is there any documentation, or just some user white papers, of what the difference between the diff. radio roms are? Does anyone even know, beyond the observation of which one gave their particular phone better reception? I'm curious just for the sake of knowledge
I'm running the 2.25.11 radio rom, on my Cingular 8125, and it works good, but lately I've missed/ignored a couple calls and my phone doesn't have the "missed call" icon on the top bar, my Phone program registers a missed call though.
I want to load up different radio roms and see which one works the best though, however I can't remember the instructions on doing that to my G4 CID-Locked phone. I've been looking around the forums and can't find it. Anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: I found the thread I was looking for. This thread talks about another radio rom and a utility to use on G4 phones, which can be found here.
Question for any knowledgeable people reading this. Can the G4 utility mentioned in the other thread I linked to, be used to load cooked roms too? Or is it safe to just load radio roms with it only?
I've tried them all and I've found the 2.61 radio rom to have the best signal.

I like the cingular stock radio 2.25.11
For me 2.47.11 radio rom works best.....Goodyear Az AT&T
I loaded 2.61 and haven't seen any difference. I may play with the radio roms later. I loaded the bundle referenced earlier. I wonder how much difference a ROM can really make on radio reception though. Still, an interesting experiment.
Yo all! Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306296
Thanks Wizeman! A good thread. He did is homework, it appears.
I've loaded the ROM he recommends but don't see any differece of note. Although a marginal difference would be difficult to see without a more scientific method than mine.
My desk is located where I will get and lose the signal - mostly no signal at all. I still see the occassional signal capture but no more than usual. Again, not very scientific. Nonetheless, I'll use the 2.19 since it doesn't appear to have any less performance and somebody has some measurements to support the case for this ROM.
I am confused though, since signal level is a hardware measurement (electrical measurement) and not a software issue. Oh well.
I am the one who did the measurements starter of that topic and of course still using 2.19.11
Oops ... didn't look, just read the post! I'm sure it was good for a chuckle though.
2.19.11 - Best Radio ROM
Undoubtedly, 2.19.11 is the best radio ROM for reception. I was always alternating between 1 bar and no signal at my work with 2.15 and now with 2.19.11, I have atleast 2-3 bars at all times. I am on T-mobile network.
I had numerous missed calls before but since the last 2 days after changing to 2.19.11 I haven't had one.

That's a vBullentin flaw, expensive forum script, cheapest search feature. It doesn't search number. You should do a search such as "Kaiser radio *" with the quotes, * being the wildcard.
I suggest google as stated by petervbeck
15.32 testing data
Been using this radio for a full day now and it is quite better than the 11.31 radio I was using... Clear Voice calls... Better 3g and HSDPA Strenght stay in HSDPA more than 3g.. the oppisite of before.... "more bars in more places" hate to use that but... GPS works fine most of the time..a couple of time it was slow to start but once up was fine... even after running gps test and the GPS tool.....
For all those who want to know
Using it with Dutty's V4 without a problem.
I was using 12.29 before and I didn't notice much difference, haven't check GPS yet.

Battery life seemed pretty bad with .15.32 with Dutty's DualTouch V4 for me.
Switched back to .12.32
AT&T Wireless in California.
Compatible on Orange FR ROM
No GPS problems
I have no GPS problems with the latest Dutty release and this radio.
Quick question
I've never flashed a radio before.
Can u flash it after flashing the ROM or it makes no difference?

Question:
If your device came with .12.11
If you flash back to .12.11 radio, will it support my network (as it did before) or will it make a difference if it's AT&T radio of the same version?
Sorry but I never flashed radios before and always avoided
Flashing back to 12.11 will be no problem, however I'd recommend 12.17 - I have better battery life and sig strength with .17 than either .11 or 12.32 in Norcal AT&T
p.s. make sure you're HardSPL first obviously!

Any Tilt Owners on WM6.1?

I would like to hear some stories from Tilt owners who have installed any of the WM6.1 ROMs. Good, bad, fugly!?!
I installed schaps and i cant get MMS Tried the official so they say one. Also same thing
error synchronizing.....
I installed Alex's on my Tilt. I must say it's my favorite ROM I've used so far. MUCH faster (apparently directdraw works!? Not sure if it's a hack or it works now), threaded SMS is awesome, and overall I think it's great.

His ROM comes with a Radio. TCPMP doesn't work though. Unless you go to ROM 3.02.405.0
No sound issues with that radio.
Honestly I don't think I updated the radio, I think Alex's rom came with the new radio. It's now the 1.64.06.04 radio. I was going to upgrade it to this anyway. I have zero issues with it at all. Voice is clear, signal is great and battery drain is less than before (could just be the new WM, though).
I have to admit to something, although he in not often on this site, Schaps ROM worked for me the best. I am still using the old radio 12.17 with Schaps beta 6.1. I cleaned some of the issues and installed few programs and the battery life is the best. maybe demographics or where you live in relationship to the service source has some to do with battery consumption....

Well, of course if your signal is worse, the chip has to work harder (i.e. more energy) to keep your signal. The rest has to do with ROMs and/or software telling it things like how frequently to poll for calls and things of that sort.
But it seems that WM6.1 does have better battery life (less drain). I have the new radio rom so I can't control for that, though.

I also noticed battery life is excellent with that version of the Chinese hacked BETA version build. Dutty is using the same one and the battery life is quite astounding!
The only issue I've had with non-ATT based ROMs is most don't seem to like Over-the-Air Activesync/Direct Push for some reason. They will connect fine to the server but don't consistently maintain a connection full time. Sometime I'll check the Activesync and it won't be connect and have the last successful connected date/time shown.
With the ATT based ROMs it always shows connected when I check Activesync on the device.
Other than that I've only had the standard common problems already reported like the soft-reset issue.
What about 14.09 any issues with WiMo 6.1?
I think DCS's rom has solved the soft-reset problem.
I'm on Schap's 4.31 now with 12.17 radio. Will do the upgrade soon. Only concern is do I need to install both the rom and radio at one go or can I install the os first then pick the radio afterwards?
I'm running Alex's Beta on mine.
I've been on it since yesterday, and killed my battery twice now playing with it. I've not noticed the delay in button pressing that was in all the 6.0 roms I tried.
The radio acts the same as the last radio I had (see sig)... but then I've not gone outside a 100 yard radius since I flashed the phone.
Overall, it definately seems faster to me.
As for battery.... meh. I've been using the crap outta the phone. Bluetooth calls, Bluetooth transfers, internet (over the network), wifi, games, setting the phone up, cab installs, you name it. Tomorrow I might get a better handle on how the battery acts since it will be a normal workday for me, and I'll have less time to play with it.

I did it. Got rid of the dang random hesitation when pressing a button. For that, I'm keeping it, until the next latest and greatest comes.
Sure, there are some issues. But what ROM doesn't have things you'd like to change? So you gotta hit the SR button twice to soft reset. Once you get it set up, its not like you gotta SR all the time. We're beyond 2003SE here....

Reccomendations on UK T-Mobile Radio?

Hi There,
Not sure if anyone else has noticed but recently T-Mobile UK reception has become really poor, but on the plus side it looks like HSDPA has been rolled out.
So I've been trying a few different Radios trying to pick up the reception but making the most out of the new HSDPA.
I've tried 1.64.08.21 and 1.65.20.29 both of which get me around an average of 2 bars in Leeds. which is a bit poor, since I'll drop a bar or two which roaming, which means a loss of signal.
GPS is about the same.
What Radios do other T-Mobile'ers in the UK use?, how are you getting on?
Thanks in advance
I am using 1.65.24.36 and I am getting full reception in Brighton. I have got HSDPA as well.
This is the radio in l26 v10 rom.
I use 1.58.25.17 from the NEON (it works with any ROM which supports 1.65.* radios) and it works very well for me (Hertfordshire).
I have have tried the 1.64.* and 1.65.* radios, but the battery drain is too much for me

Funny you should say that about the radios with L26s roms I have never had such good battery life. I am flashing other peoples kaisers on the strength of that alone.
Dutty is the main man for Tmobile Kaiser knowledge. He seems to have jumped ship to the Diamond though. Sure he will be really missed here if he has finished with the Kaiser
I second the vote on the NEON 1.58.25.17 radio. Using the Dutty v1 ROM, I'm getting between 4-5 bars in London on TMobile, and also noticing good battery life and GPS lockon speed.

eat my balls, I have searched, and there's nothing on T-Mobile specific for the UK, only Germany, and the advice goes back to '06.
If you'd searched before you posted you'd know that.
Thanks for all the responses, I've not tried 1.58.25.17 yet, might be worth a backtrack to see how I get on. I used to live the Dutty Rom's, his dual V2 was excellent.
1.65.20.29 performs very well around Manchester. Battery is fine and I can pick up a GPS fix with GPS Test within seconds.

Well i've been using it for 3 hours w/ email push every 15 minutes on two accounts, a few sms and some light browsing. So far i'm still at 98%, will keep updating as the day goes along.
My review
Pros: After some use i must say the reception is great phone was either on 3g or H immediately after flash.... opera was quick as well as gps lock.
Now for the cons maybe i can try diff. rom and spl combo but using natf v2 3.56spl i had to get off the phone during the middle of a convo b4 my phone melted and immediately flash another radio. thats right another heater. My tilt got so hot and battery drain was terrible from 100% to 67% after 17 mins on the phone. I also had 4 random call drops...

The link in the first post too me to a page that gave me 10 different downloading options. Rapidshare was only one of them...
Tell me about 3.56 being crap! I have been using it forever no problems. Then I tried the EMO radio and it was HORRIBLE for battery life. I decided to try 3.29 and what a difference it makes!

What exactly do u mean what a difference it makes? is this in regard to what? ur battery life using emo radio and 3.29 or polaris...
@ P1Tater I will try using 3.29 and report back
So far I'm getting good data and phone, battery life seems decent so far. No heat issues (using 3.56). I'll be flashing 3.29 and seeing if this combo is finally it for me (I've been flashing radios radios like no tomorrow here...). Oh, I'm also using NaTF V2 Beta... might as well flash V2.1 as well now LOL.
[Edit: corrected version numbers for hard SPL used]
for those of u experiencing no heat issue are u actually talking on the phone for over 5 to 10 mins or just navigating the device

I don't see this issue. I'm running the same rom but my spl is 3.29 due to the fact that 3.56 has been named a crap spl by cmonex. Maybe try 3.29 spl and see if you have the same heating issue.

In my experience my heating issues have virtually every single time been related to my phone trying to connect to the internet and not being able to. For whatever reason it happens, sometimes it won't browse and when that happens my device gets hot, and my battery drops like...well...something that drops fast. lol
Sometimes the solution is as simple as a soft reset for me, which i personally think is the reason we see such inconsistent results between all those who claim that the heating issue is spl related, but i do concede that the understanding of how they all interact is well beyond my skill level.
