Question for t-mobile UK customers, does anyone know if or when t-mobile is going to release a new version on the MDA Compact III ?
I went in and asked just before xmas and the shop assistant said they were but I think she was getting confused with the touch dual. I've since gone in to another shop and they said they have absolutely no information on it. So at the moment the answer is they're not getting it.
Why don't you upgrade to a N95/Kaiser and sell it on ebay, then use the funds the buy a touch cruise? That's what I'm doing (although I've bought a TC before I can upgrade )
Sounds like a plan!!
Touch cruise killer

With the release of the HTC Fuze and support for the 850 and 900 UMTS bands does this mean that the device will be suitable for the Telstra Next G Network in Australia as they use the same bands? I've gotten conflicting answers from contact within Oz, so i thought it best to ask you guys!

yes they will. though telstra has something nice up their sleeves too
Thanks
I'd be very interested to hear more. I asked at Two Telstra shops yesterday and there was a large silence before they said no...thought something was a bit suss
Please, please my JASJAM is dying slowly but definitely not gracefully and am hanging to get this phone on NextG (due to location).
Have been watching forums for any news along with pestering Telstra but still no joy.
Telstra and something nice don't normally go together...so I'm very intrigued!
Im in the same position. My jasjam is trooping on, but i would love one of these on the NextG network.
Keep this thread updated with any news from Telstra.
My dopod 838 is on the way out :-(
Mobicity is the only place I have seen selling a specific NextG Touch Pro but Im a bit dubious about it...
Something nice? I have to agree with VinEquity.. telstra and nice dont go togeather. "look at the pretty lights, ignore the horror of the charges." and what is usually up their sleeve is another charge.
I've given up on the Fuze for the moment due to the cost of getting one into Australia, approx $900 from someone on ebay with no warranty etc.
It would be good to see Telstra pick up the Touch Pro & the Touch HD in the near future but they have been way behind Vodafone, Optus & even Three for launches of major phones such as the Nokia E72, BlackBerry Bold (6 weeks after Optus even thought Telstra were supposed to have an 'exclusive') and now the Omnia
no one else has looked into the mobicity? they are pretty adament it is a next g phone.
Got an email back from mobicity, it appears these touch pros are actually fuze's. They have an AT&T logo on them.
the uk touch pro has 850/900 band...i got mine a few months before it came out in australia and works well on optus (havent tried next g since dont have telstra sim). it cost au$900 which is 350 less than outright from austalia
Hey xternal, just spoke to Telstra again, girl had the TP on her list of Next G handsets but no stock available until early December. She's going to call me on my JASJAM, if it survives that long, when stock arrives....Not counting any chickens yet!
Spoke to Telstra again today. The girl said she had the TP on her list of Next G handsets but no stock available yet. She spoke to her supervisor who said early December...that's only next week!!!!!! I'll be phoning back on the 1st, 2nd... until I get my hands on one. My JASJAM has starting givng me the white screen of death so it should all fall into place nicely or am I counting my chickens prematurely.
Hey thanks for the update. My contract is up in dec so could be perfect!
Still no sign
Talked to telstra today, they said they have no idea when it will be released, they just released the Nokia 96 on Monday so I dont think It will be too soon, but who knows
Telstra reps get confused easily
The Telstra stores and also the business side easily get confused. I regularly deal with a very senior corporate mobile person in Telstra and he refers to the diamond as the pro. They have no immediate plans for the TP. Their preference is the Sony as an exclusive deal. It's all about carrying devices you cant get elsewhere and creating the perception of being different.
I have a TP and use a Next G sim in it. It only gets UMTS (900+2100) and GSM (900+1800). The phone easily roams to 3 which is half telstra 'owned' anyway and I have H coverage for my data almost continuously, occasionaly it drops back to Edge.
Hopefully, they will get the TP 850, I remain ever hopeful.!
Oh well, i bit the bullett and ordered a fuze. Should be here sometime between xmas/new year.
Ill let you know how it goes. I just couldnt hold out any longer. It seems telstra are getting the X1 not the touch pro
Hi all,
Just received the HTC Fuze from Mobicity, and dropped in a Telstra Next G sim and all works fine.
I used the guide below to get HSPDA working, (disabled by default as some of you know)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459335
Use the following settings for the telstra.wap:
Connection name: Telstra.Wap
Data Bearer: GPRS/Packet Data
Access Point Name (or APN): telstra.wap
USERNAME: (Leave Blank)
Password: (Leave Blank)
Authentication: Normal
Proxy: 10.1.1.181
Proxy> Advanced >WAP: 10.1.1.150:9201
Proxy> Advanced >Socks: 10.1.1.181:1080
Having problems with telstra.corp (authentication issues) for those wanting to have it join thier company WAN, but will let you know how that goes. Will flash and use another radio if I have to.
Oh MY GOD! There is someone out there wit a FUze on NextG! Rom/radio trials? Any good?

I popped my mums telstra sim card in and it appears to work fine
yeah but is she nextg? or just gsm? my touch pro runs fine with my telsra sim, but only gsm. ive got "3g" up on my fuze....after olipro sim unlock...
I am thinking of ordering AT&T unlocked version of htc touch pro. I am little confused. There are so many version of htc touch pro? I am looking for cheapest version and I think it's unlocked HTC fuze. Now, is there a way to remove all those AT&T shortcuts and get a normal(original) HTC touch pro phone?
The ATT version has a slightly different keyboard on it to the other varients (numbers along the top are removed and are accessed by a FN key - replaced by symbols)
I'm looking at doing a similar thing to get a Touch Pro, ATT seems the cheapest way of getting one but from memory it's about $50 more with other carriers that use the normal keyboard.
Yes, that is the case with keyboard but I don't mind really. I've found that I can latter install other rom and get original HTC touch pro, something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444784
@hidden_hunter, is there any other version that will work with GSM providers worldwide and has original HTC touch pro keyboard?
You will want to get the HTC Touch Pro T7272 (European Version) over the AT&T Fuze because there is a descrepency inbetween the US (Fuze) 3G Bands and the European (Touch Pro T7272) 3G Bands.
I am thinking about selling mt Touch Pro as mentioned in these thread replies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466685
If you're in Australia I think ATT's 3G bands are the same as Telstra's so it should work no issues, others might know more (I'm with Virgin mobile who since being totally bought out by optus seem to be becoming worse and worse value) So you would need to check if the frequencies are compatabile (make sure you don't buy a CDMA version for instance)
I live in Bosnia. Would Fuze work here?
Check your PM. I sent you details.
I live in Australia and I'm thinking about buying a Touch Pro from USA since it seems cheaper. I was wondering is there anything I have to look out for that might stop it form working here. Eg. Network issues.
I'm thinking about this one
Hi,
The phone in the link operates on the CDMA network, you'll want the GSM version (the one that uses a simcard). It is also network locked and will need to be hacked/unlocked.
Very cheap though...
Thanks
Some of them say A & T service required for some of the features. What does that mean?
you don't really need to "hack" it. just get someone to create your unlock code for you. you can get it here on xda or even ebay. I believe olinex can provide you the unlock code for a price. I can gaurantee that these guys here at xda are very helpful so dont' worry about that too much.
you should think about what band your provider in aus is using.
Good luck!
EDIT: those "features" are ATT specific and you can make those disappear. check the links on "unbloating" your phone. It's pretty annoying but it does not do anything for your phone if you don't use ATT's network. Check out the thread on flashing for beginners. Read it carefully and if you have questions, be very specific.
Thanks for the help. I been using a jasjam (hermes) with a flashed rom but the hermes is in bad condition so thinking about getting a new phone.
Dood, I'm in Aus and also upgraded to Touch Pro from JasJam.
A warning. You will not get Telstra NextG video calls. The touch pro does not operate on Telstra's band. Just in case you were/are a Telstra man...
Also, you should be able to ebay a cheap as new unit in Australia... I've seen many go for under $300.
A brand new phone for less that $300???
What are you searching "HTC touch pro"?
Touch Pro or Fuze in Australia?
Mate, check the 3G/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA frequencies used by your provider!!!
The TP AND the Fuze will work AS PHONE in almost any GSM network (beside some Asian countries i.e. Japan) since they are 4 band GSM devices. However, using the benefits of high speed data aka 3G you have to check which band your provider is using. AFAIK Telstra is using 850/1900 which matches the ATT US network while t-mobile and the std. TP use 900/2100. IF you are with Telstra get a Fuze and it will work. People here in the US buy the HD (not offered here in the US by ATT) in Australia to operate it in the US network.
Good luck and don't get screwed.
IMPORTANT:
Hello everyone, I just was trying to download and install Android 2.1 (haret) on my Htc Diamond 2 in these last 3 weeks without any luck.
Unfortunately I found out that all the Roms from xda or from other sources installed cannot connect with O2 Uk Network....With friends at Carphone Warehouse and O2 stores we arrived at the conclusion that for some reasons the Roms are not writed to get O2. BT Cellnet was the old name for O2 but there's a problem on data, No Internet connection or at times not even 2G or 3G signal. Does anyone on xda-developers aware of this? Is there a solution?. We really appreciate if someone give us some information. Vodafone. Orange and T-Mobile have no problems whatsoever...We would like the same for O2. Thanks
