Bye WinMo! - HTC Vox

I bought myself a Nokia E71. Hello Symbian, good bye WinMo! I needed stability and most important better battery life. Blackberry was a little too "locked down" for me so S60 came and it offered the 3rd party variety of Windows Mobile but the stability and power management similar to a BB.
After waiting for an ECG to be done, an hour of browsing on my Vox had it down to almost %50. Ridiculous. The E71 I got a few days ago, I actually had a hard time running out the demo charge in order to give it a full charge over night.
I probably won't be around these forums too much anymore until I pick up an HTC S740.

Goodbye
Bye h4waii...thanks to your contribute to this forum and hope to See you soon ...:

Well good bye mate. You have been helping us a lot.

-sahil

Bye for now
I have read most of your very informative posts. Will definitely miss you.
Best of luck with the new phone.
Siddhartha

bye h4waii. thank you for all your contributions to this forum.
hope the e71 is good coz i too, was thinking of getting rid of the ancient S710 but then available e61's n e62's just sucked big time.

I'll still post, but I am totally blown away by S60. I've used S40 and UIQ but S60 is another beast. It is nowhere near as fun as WinMo but to be honest, everything meshes together so nicely and it doesn't feel like a huge kludge.

Changing the Magician for Nokia 6680

Tomorrow I`m gonna sell my Magician and change it for Nokia 6680...I was very happy with my Magician but there was several problems with it...like someone call me but my phone does not ring...and there was no unanswered calls...but the main reason is handling with one hand...I`m using it at most for the callendar functions and calling but this functions are also good in Nokia 6680...which is about 50% cheaper than the Magician. So I`m leaving this forum and would like to say thanks to all the people who helped me in any way...
Best regards,
Primoz
all the best to you and i hope you like the nokia 6680........ it is sad to see a memeber leave but all for the best......
good luck and hope to see ya back soooon
Thank u buddy for all your contributions. Good luck all the way. Hope to see you back after some!

Why is HTC Diamond better then Omnia

I was lurking arround for some time As many of you I was thinking about getting better phone well lets say smarter, faster and more cool. First I was amazed by iPhone but really after reading specs it wasnt that great. So my dreams went to sleep for a while and then I saw Diamond which is almost perfect with just few flaws. And I was almost ready to get it but it wasnt available yet in my country. After few weeks I saw Samsung Omnia which is technicaly perfect toy which just lacks "chic" factor (and resolution of HTC Diamond / Pro. After few sleepless nights I made decision.. I choosed HTC and reason really isnt this and that but really this forum. Its really fun seeing people help each other and searching for hidden features about which even HTC didnt know. So since this is my first post I really would like to thank everyone who participate on this forums
P.S Ill buy both Diamond and Pro so I can join some development process Maybe fifteen years of experience in pro programming will help little hehe.
that was a major consideration when i bought my pda.. been hearing about XDA-developers since 2006, when a friend bought is 9100!
simply awesome the amount of info you find here... precious info, roms, the works!

Rhodium

Hi all,
I have had my Rhodium for one week now and can happily say that I have finally found a worthy replacement for my beloved Uni.
Just thought you would all like to know that there is finally a worthy replacement.
Check out the user reviews over in the Rhodium general forum for more info.
I know that there are a lot of you here who, like myself, have been waiting for a long time for a decent succesor to the Uni.
Well now there is.
There are some excellent contract deals over at mobile phones direct
www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk
I haven't been able to find any better deals on the net than this and as an added bonus the device comes unlocked without any branding (currently)
Have a read through the Rhodium forum and if you have been waiting for a decent upgrade, take the plunge now whilst the deals are good and the device is unbranded.
Good bye Uni forum, will miss all the great users here that have supported me and the many friends I have made here.
Cheers,
Beasty
Thanks Beasty
Your comments are well aprecited
I am aware of Rhodium and afeter this post maybe I consider to buy one

Hey Orb,
I still have my treasured Uni too, and will never foresake it, still running my own build on her too.
I must say though that the Rhodium truly is a replacement.
Too much on at work to spend much time in the forums these days, least of all working on any Rom Development.
Things will calm down after summer though, and I shall start on Rom Dev again, but probably in the Rhodium forum.
The Rhodium is so fast on the stock Rom, it blows all other devices away even with the great Roms we have from all the Devs here, the Rhodium on stock is still the fastest device I've seen. Can't wait to see how it performs once we can Develop our own flavours.
Buy one, you won't regret it.
Cheers,
Beasty

its sad to hear that another great chef will be leaving uni, but everything must go on.... regards and good luck. but hoping yu'll change yur mind and start cooking for rhodium and uni as well, if yur sched will permit..
Can't wait for beast to port the Rhodium ROM to the Uni ha ha!
Ah well, yes, I'll be buying a Rhodium... but I'm going to wait until their nearer the £150 mark in eBay first. So not for a few years yet, I think there's still a little bit of life left in the Uni yet.
Nice machine, though, everything I'd want in a Uni upgrade.

Hah...hah...ha...very well said.
I have to agree with JonMorgan...
I like the HD and Rhodium is also nice( even not using KB a lot), but the price it to high for me.
I prefered to buy a netbook ( not as Asus Beasty, lol). I got the HP mini 1000 for 270€ (20% discount over sell price, great deal)( I'm using it to type this message).
400, 500, 600€ is way to much for a pda/phone.
If I can get a HD near 300, maybe I'll think about it, but if we keep to get new ROMs for Uni, the next buy will take some time.
Beasty, if you keep the Rhodium for a long time as the Uni, maybe we will meet again (how's life?). Did Leo also moved, he he?
Cheers

Bye Bye VOX

Hey after a pretty long attachment of more than 18 months I have parted with my VOX. I was very sad while parting as the device had never failed.
I have bought a new Acer DX900 Dual SIM (again sad as I could not buy a HTC to stay actively attached with XDA) as dual SIM is required for me. I am using it since last three days. A good phone but very resource hungry and eats up battery fast. Needs customisatised ROMs etc.
Lastly many many thanks to Fireburned, Dr, Gonzo, Frauhottelmann and all other members of VOX as well as XDA FORUM for their tremendous support. In fact although I don't have HTC now even then I will be regularly visiting this forum in search of something for my acer dx900.
Again thanks to everybody for making me a hardcore fan of WinMo.
Thank you parthabhatta !
And good life with your new device !
Maybe you can try my future rom (tomorrow i think) before leave your Vox...

Dear fireburned, when can we have this rom??

Time to say goodbye

I just received my shiny new toy...a Galaxy S from Samsung.
My good Vox served me well over the years, but it was time for a change!
You can still use all my ROMs and my kitchen, I'll leave them online.
Farewell
FHM, I would like to thank you for the many things that you placed in the forum for those years. Good luck in your new journey with your new toy. Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks for everything enjoyed your work.
