When is HTC gonna give us break?
for the last few months i have been waiting with patients for my Diamond upgrade,
Now reading the Diamond posts and checking out

i found out that the so called "TOUCH PRO" IS ON ITS WAY GRRRR!!!!!
What does 1 do????
wait again for it to come out,
which by dat time HTC will most probably bring out the "HTC TOUCH PRO DIAMOND ULTIMATE THINGY" or something....

My advice dont get the 1st batch wait a little longer and you still wont be happy or have wot you wanted in the fist place...

So they can sell the same product again & again & again with suttle changes and a shiny new look....like every other company...

In IT, there is always something bigger and better just around the corner, you just have to decide when your going to bite the bullet and buy a phone.
HTC will soon make something better than the Pro, do you wait for that?

I must admit that I'm getting tempted by the Diamond. Rumours are that it will be out on Orange in a few days. Still no word on the Pro.

expansys have the diamond in stock for around £400 ish, TBH HTC is not that pad, the Pro is essentially the long awaited successor to the Universal, there has been nothing pocetable with a
VGA screen

The Universal isn't the most pocketable of devices... And there have been offerings from other companies (Toshiba G9XX anyone?), but the Raphael is probably the best yet!

lol i guess i must have big pockets, the uni was an excellent device in its time, and whilst there have been offerings from other manufacturers, I was talking about HTC

the only issue with either of these phones with me is that they are both only triband... i need quad..if it wasnt for that I would jump all over either one really.

G900, i have one and its higher res than the universal and roughly the same size as the TyTN
800x480. However, res aint everything. I am now downgrading on screen real-estate to an Omni because, whats the point in having a tv that will do 1080p but is only 32inch? There ain't none. I now question 640x480. It's all very well having sharpness but, on 2./3.2inch screens, that are essentialy phones, does it make any practical diference? I'm sure there are people who watch movies on there phones but no one can honestly say they are any good at this - yea, yeah, it will play and you can watch it but, come on, its rubbish quality compared to pmp's.

I spoke to orange cs today regarding the Diamond they said if HTC dont change their mind
it shoud be out by the middle of this month @ the latest.....

The Raphael also has 64MB extra RAM, and a MicroSD slot, but loses the 4GB internal memory...

I have a few questions that I'm sure one of you all have the answer to. I am in dire need of a new phone, currently using a pos Treo 750. I am stuck between the Xperia and the Touch Pro as most are. Will the Touch Pro work on the T-mobile USA network? Do I have to wait for a US release of the phone or can I purchase one overseas to use thats unlocked? Sorry for all the question but I'm kinda new to all this.

T-Mobile is NO HELP .. Maybe someone here has had some luck, I have searched for the answer, sorry if I missed it, but I can't connect to the internet - I used the settings internet2.voicestream.com - and checked and unchecked "... connects to the internet" Still not connecting. As I said, Tmobile won't help for 2 days because I just added internet to the phone. But in the past, connecting was almost immediate.

Can you connect via wi-fi?

Is this T-mo US? When i first got my Touch Cruise with the cheap 5.99 t-mo web plan this did not work. Now there might be some settings you can change but i was never successful in figuring it out, so in the end i upgraded to the unlimited data plan for $20/month and worked right away with just using the connection wizard.

I have the $20 internet plan and also I haven't tried connecting with wifi .. Tmobile escalated my connection problem and the guy told me I have a VPN account and I need to enter internet3.voicestream.com .. they also said there is a gkibal outage tonight .. Anyone else experiencing this ?? Diane

I entered internet3.voicestream.com into my connection settings and opened the browser. It connected to google, right away .. So then I clicked to update TomTom and the phone wouldn't download, got an error .. about the same time my husband walked through the door and I had to turn off the phone and stick it in my purse .. I have a weeee bit of a spending problem when it comes to electronics [phones and umpcs] so I wait until the prices go down a bit before I let him see what I have bought. Trouble is, usually by the time the prices go down, I have sold my gadget and moved on to a newer more expensive toy .. Last week I bought the Samsung Omnia. Hated it immediately and stuck it up on eBay. Sold it in one day and bought this phone. I don't lose a lot of money with the buying and selling - what keeps me poor is the overnight shipping, because I am like a kid at Christmas when it comes to new toys. The coast is clear .. gonna pull out my phone again and try and download the TomTom update .. OR GPS update that is.

I actually hate talking on the phone. Most of the time I won't even answer it if I am not wearing one of my M-A-N-Y bluetooth headsets . . so if I must have a cellphone, it must be the coolest one on the market. I hope the Xperia doesn't show up too soon.
I have been thinning out my gadgets. Only the new HTC Touch Pro and my Nokia N93 left - Just recently sold 2 out of 3 UMPCs . .My Sony UX390N and my Fujitsu U810 .. Still loving my HTC Shift.

Get the blackberry plan for 19.99 and connect to wap.voicestream.com
When I put my sim in the phone it autoconfigured. When I looked at settings it had wap.voicestream.com

At least with the touch cruise the connection wizard set everything up for me with the $20 plan. I'm suppose to get the Touch Pro tomorrow so once i get it set up i will try to let u know if i encountered any problems or not.

Lucky you are not married to me, we would always be poor. I guess we would have to eat our toys to make it through winter.
I have the Xperia for testing, but I dont find it so cool. The keyboard on my Touch Pro is much better. The Xperia feels like a toy... I dont like SE anyway. Im hooked on HTC (not XTC, but i might spend similiar kind of money).
Just a pain, here in Japan I have to keep my toys sort of secret or Softbank will send a ninija to sort me out...(^ ^)

If any one has any extra Devices they don't want, I'll take your Xperia or TouchPro, if you don't want it.

either click settings, connections, then click network setup and select USA (if you cannot find it use the forum search for "HTC Network cab"), TMob, or use the search for the TMob USA settings. Your rapheal should work in the states (though you will not be able to use 3g you should pick up EDGE)

I am really happy to hear that the Xperia feels like a toy. Saves me some money, yet I am sort of surprised. For example, I had 2 UMPCs .. The Sony UX390N and the HTC Shift. The entire Sony felt much more quality made than the HTC .. Ended up keeping HTC though.
Finding the best UMPC was a gadget buying nightware .. Bought the UX380N and decided I wanted the Shift. So I sold the UX380N and bought the shift. Was disappointed in the Shift, just the way the keyboard felt when it was sliding mostly. So I sold the Shift, bought the UX390N < Different color - all black - I liked that .. a few months passed and I don't know why, but I had problems with the display on the sony when it came to playing my favorite game of Mahjong. Didn't have that with the UX380N - So .. Sold the Sony and bought the Shift again. Giving it another chance. I am still mad though at HTC for not including the phone as promised in the beginning - I did open up FULL windows mobile though.

NOOOO! There isn't a way of getting US 3G to work on the phone! Just wait for AT&T to release it and buy it retail! Trust me! It'll be better and cheaper!

thanks for quicky reply. I have been monitoring fuze thread, and the consensus seems to be nov 4th. If i can get it tuesday from ATT fine, but im tired of waiting, and my e71 is getting boring. Any word on US 3G unlocked touch pro? Would prefer that over branded model due to exclusivity reasons.

The US 3G touch pro will release after the fuze does. AT&T has first dibs on releasing a GSM version of the touch pro. Sprint had dibs on releasing it first in the USA. I would really suggest you wait. I mean on black friday, last year it was 50% off /w new contract or renewal. That is kick ass. $150 for the fuze on black friday. I would definately wait for that.

waiting 22 days to save 150 is kind of worth it, but not really. Especially when your like me and must have your new toy as soon as its available.
And FWIW, negrielectronics, which is known to be a reliable site for unlocked phones, has the fuze listed for pre-release on 11/3/2008. But who knows, maybe they are going by the same info as we are? heres to hoping for the best.

I'm like that too, but personally. Since I can upgrade on Nov 16. I can wait. I mean the $150 I save, I can spend on a case, cradle, speakers, etc.

Which phone ...

Ok, so I have a decision to make, and only till Wednesday to make it ...
Currently, I have the Palm Treo Pro. It's a GOOD phone, I LOVE the keyboard and I love how small/light it is. I DO NOT like the proprietary USB of the "end" key as its uber sensitive. Also, most of my programs don't work on the screen (OliveTree Bible, Mud Inc. Pocket Cribbage, and Handmark Monopoly V1) ... so my other options are
HTC Diamond - I get $ back, but, I lose microSD Card or HTC Pro, I pay around $100 more, but I get the microSD Card slot and sliding keyboard.
WiFi is important, and I should point out, I am on the TELUS Network.

hmmm TP2 ain't on Telus ... not yet ... not till the end of '09 / early '10 when they turn on their UMTS/HSPA

However, to answer your question, i'd definitely go with the TP over the Diamond.

I can't wait 14-18 months for the TP2 (which is about how long Telus will take to get it *L* as they have ONLY had the Treo Pro for about a month!) ... I think I'll go on Wednesday and get the Touch Pro.

Then why don't U buy it unlocked from another country next month

Because Telus is CDMA but soon (2010) to be UMTS/HSPA

Ok some usefull info for you:
Diamond - has serious heat issues and its very well know to fry its own screen. HTC are constantly fighting people and refusing to repair faulty units. I owned one and then returned it as it could also not play music without jumping/skipping. Both these issues can be easily found by going to the Diamond section of these forums.
TouchPro - (not the TP2 as everyone else seems to have got confused over) Never owned one so comments are limited to what can be read on this forum but, I miss having a keyboard and am now ordering an Asus on Monday that has a keyboard. Typing an email on the Diamond was a pain in the a*&e and its only marginaly easier on the bigger screen of my Omnia.
Palm thingy - never owned one, never used one. Can't comment.
If I HAD to chose between these then in all honesty, i'd probably keep the Palm! Why? HTC build quality sucks donkey balls. Its a well known and easily googled reputation. Its a shame really as they spec out the phones very well and seem to have every intention of making excellent devices, just somewhere the penny pinchers seem to take control and quality drops.

OK so ... I was downtown yesterday, getting my Security Guard License and walked through Toronto Eaton Centre ... and I picked up the Touch Pro.
So far, I'm happy. I'm still testing things out and seeing what is good etc but ALL my games work, all my programs work AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED to, and I'm happy ...

i havemt treid out the ds though, only the increible
my only concern is the community isnt big enough as the desire was at tgis time last year! everyones moving on to the dual cores

every one here has the same concerns too...hope the community gets bigger..there has been a recent increase in the number of people here hope it gets better
but i can tell you that the build quality of the DS is much better than the galaxy s i fell it also looks better & is the correct size...but peoples tastes differ...

yeh, is this also going to make a US release? if not our community will be qute small and there will be very little development. TBH, i cant see many peopl going for this device. they will mostlikely to forward with the dual core phones...Thats probably why o2 have mad it cheap - not many ppl are buying it

I did see the o2 store having them in stock for £330.
BUT I have a few questions:
1. They can unlock it free? Don't you need to be on the network for a while and pay for them to unlock?
2. Is there any o2 branding on the back or front?
3. Is there any o2 bloatware installed?
4. Have o2 disabled any features? Such as wi-fi hotspot?
5. Is there an o2 logo on the bootscreen?
I like to have my phones clear of any bloatware and any branding. But £400 is a bit much for me for a phone.

It depends who's working I guess.
You just ask if it comes with a case, if he says no, ask him/her what cases are available. Then look, then say that the cases are expensive for what they are and say you HAVE to have a case like its OCD. Then walk off. They sometimes ask you to come back and 'negotiate' a deal :L Sometimes works on contracts getting a couple months free etc.
Or say another company like phones4u have offered you a better deal. Then carphonewarehouse may give you an even better deal.
EDIT: And just make sure you know your stuff and not make things obvious. If you have been with carphonewarehouse for a while and you are due an upgrade but want to cancel, they are most likely to give you a great deal on a newer contract, but won't not a new phone, to keep you with them. My sister is on a 24months contract few hundred mins, unlimited text+internet for £15 a month with 14 months free.
They all negotiate to get commission. As long as the deal doesn't make them a loss than they should be fine.

ah, i see quite smart!
I'm a payg customer anyway with a contract on giffgaff. so i only get simfree phones. (or can be unlocked)
my friend did that when he got his htc legend on vodaphone. thanks for the tip!

Looks like this may be the way to go rather than buying SIM free, which is about £380...
These guys claim to be able to unlock any HTC phone for $15.75 too (about £10).

I might wait until the Desire S gets rooted though, and by that time the price will have dropped more - especially when the dual cores are out. I hope so anyway.

Yes I noticed before that you said they will unlock it for free, but I'm not convinced! (no offence!)

I went to the o2 store yesterday and they said you have to wait 3 months before you can unlock it and will cost £15.
