Touch Experience - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi there - it seems that my Rapha doesn`t function as touch device but only ref. the area which under the screen ....
Is there any menu whic I mast install or ?
I already have installed charps tweaks....
THANK you
myrin

Try a Hard reset, if you still have no touch screen then it's a hardware problem, send it back. How much have you been messing with touch pro? It is possible to stop screen from working but it's unlikely, more a hardware problem if you ask me.

John generally I do havethe touch experience but not with all software - I do have it with MS software !
What I don`t see either is the issue that for example contacts will be changed if the rapha is move from on side to the other. How can this be done ?

I can play Teeter ad there I see that throug moving the device you can direct it but !!! why is this not working in contacts or e-mails ?

I think this is not able with all applications on the Touch Pro. Only specific programs like HTC Album, Opera and Teeter use the accelerometer and rotate the screen when you rotate the device. I do not know if some external program will turn every screen when you turn over the device. It is not an out-of-the box function.
EDIT: I've been doing some searching and found a program called Gsen, you can download it from http://s-k-tools.com/freeware. This program can rotate every screen and you can also exclude programs not to be rotated by GSEN. I've tried it a little bit and it looks nice. Dunno if it is a keeper yet

You can find an application called Gsen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411419) which is supposed to rotate most of the screens on HTC.
However, this was originally designed for HTC Diamond. I tested it on Touch Pro but it wasn't very useful. The screen rotated very slowly and only on some screens.
I think it should be rewritten for Touch Pro....

OK that works - the pics in album change from portrait to landscape but they do not change from one to the next is this normal ?
How did you solve he light problem when a call comes in ?
And - my Rapha can only be switched on via the main switch - is that changeable ?

*The* TyTN v1605 problems post...

Hi all,
Figured I should start a post with problems (in the quest for solutions).
I have had my v1605 from Vodafon for 3 days now and have found a few problems already. I have a replacement coming on Tue so will see what is fixed...
So far:
- keyboard back lights not working, matters not if the sensor is active or not. Vodafone replacing the unit as a result.
- some keys on the far right seem unsensitive - I keep missing O, P and L from my typing. The keys do work though...maybe it is just me.
- screen alignment wanders and as such I usually need to re-align the screen once a day or more. Seems always to drift left and slight lower than I am pressing.
- today screen items are locked and 'vodafoned', very annoying as I cannot show task list, owner info or lock status on the today screen. I hard reset the unit and reset it before the customisation happened and voila - the usual today screen items were back - but as a result I lost the vodafone dialer skin and the 3G symbol. I presume someone can ROM-hack to get rid of this restriction and look forward to it In fact, it would be perfect if the ONLY Vodafone customisations were the dialler skin, 3G symbol and theme.
- If you have a password set and hard-reset the unit it crashes when you are prompted for the password. Soft resetting it then skips the vodafone customisation.
- left softkey set to phone instead of calendar and no way to change it.
- no easy way to access Vodafone Live!
- camera quality pretty poor for a 2MP, no where near as good as the K750i for example. However, the K750i on its first firmware was pretty aweful too!
- when plugged into USB on computer - if you turn it off (so as just to charge) it will turn itself back on again shortly and commence another sync.
Other than these niggles, of which the today screen is the biggest for me, I love the TyTN. By far the best PDA/Phone I have owned to date!
So - over to you guys, does your v1605 have these issues or others, or none????
Rich
My slide out keyboard down't click into place on the left side the way the right does (and also the way the wizard does). It may not be a problem now but in the future, it may begin to wear and then it might affect the function of the keys??
Are they just swapping a unit for you or exchanging the whole package? How will you know if you get a brand new set? When I switched mine on, the call timers showed outgoing 40 seconds and incoming 45 seconds. I'm not sure if this is vodafone testing the units or it's not new.
Am told I am getting a brand new unit - will check call timers as they *should* be 0-0.
Just had a play with mine and I only feel a click on the right side of the keyboard too. Feels nice and solid once it is out though - not like the xda-mini-s which feels flimsy in comparison.
R
I do not see the "E" icon even in EDGE enabled areas. I even tried the HTC Wizard icon hack hack with no success:
http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/191
'E' appears on my v1605
3G is awesome.

Thats great! was a bit worried that mine was a faulty unit. It does feel solid when sliding. It was just the lack of the "click" that bugged me.
Anyone else who received their unit had timers showing calls made and received from it? Its probably vodafone testing it. The unit is too new for any refunds/refurbs to have been made.

My unit has this issue and I hope my next unit which is a brand new replacement that comes on Tuesday doesn't have this issue. My unit it is only the O that has problem which is getting better over time. I called them and they was more than happy to get a brand new unit to get sent out just want a perfect working one in my 14 day period so fingers crossed will keep you updated.

Do you also feel a click only on the right when you slide open the keyboard? Let us know how you get on with the new unit.
Don't feel no click at all. Will keep you all updated.
UPDATE:
New unit turned up - keyboard lights now work as expected.
Still only a right side click on the keybard - so it must just be the way it is.

Hi guys
Peter .. the guy that got his VPA Compact III two days after me as sent it back on the 14 day returns .... He was concerned about stability. He's always struggled to come to terms with WM stability which I can understand ... so he's off back to palm and blackberry.
From my point of view - I've had one hang during operations which still worries me (I left it at the today screen fine ... and 30 mins later I noticed backlight was completely off and it was utterly un responsive - wouldn't respond to incoming calls). It also hangs occassionally of soft reset or power on (from a complete power off). It usually comes up fine on a subsequent soft reset.
I'm waiting for HTC to call me back so I can raise this as a call. It seems to happen regardless of today plugins being active (I disabled all) - I have also rebuilt with 4 phases of Sprite Backup to restore from - and the problem hasn't gone away.
I suspect it is firmware / software as opposed to hardware .... fingers crossed.
Aside from that I love it as a device .... I just wish one of you guys that has one will let me know if you have had any hangs at all and where you see them.
My keyboard light works fine. It has to be in low light and you have to press a button before it activates - just opening the keyboard in low light doesn't activate it.
Occasionally I turn the device on and it starts in landscape mode and then switches to portrait ... odd .. because I didn't switch it off in landscape.
There is an odd moulding mark where the stylus comes out on the curved recessed part of the body (right hand side). I thought it may be a crack but I'm pretty sure it's just where the plastic moulding was finished before painting. If it's not cracked I'm not bothered.
You can change the WM5 softkeys with Tweaks2k2.
One thing to remember is that rather than use the phone executable, the device originally used a :MSC call. Once removed you can't put it back with Tweaks2k2. It's not an issue because a normal link to phone is fine. If you want Calendar ... then use Tweaks2k2 to change it.
My keyboard works fine ... no sticky keys. Peter had one or two on his.
Paul.

Hi Rich
What are you running at the moment ?
I'm try to find out what is different between my build and yours so I can narrow down possible cause of hang.
Paul.
By the way ... my build is :
So far I have SBSH iLauncher, HandyMenu, HandSwitcher, Legato Mahjong, Billiard Master 3, Bubbleshooter, PDA Mill GameBox Classics, BeJewelled 2, 1-Calc, Phatnotes, PIEPlus, Avantgo, CO2005, Clearvue Office Pro, CPL6, FW2006, imov Messenger, NewsBreak, Resco Explorer (without the Resco Today Plugin) 5.40, Resco PhotoViewer, SBSH Pocket Breeze and Pocket Weather, Skype 2, Sprite 5.1, Tweaks2k2, PI2005, FlexMail 2.2, FlexWallet, Cabinstall, Cruxview - all installed on the MicroSD.
Aside from an apparent hang on startup last night which scared me .... I thought I'd need to hard reset but it eventually sorted itself out ... hopefully it is s/w related .... it's all going well. Did a video call with Peter last night which was fine ... first I've done and picture quality not great but usable.
3G is active and working very well. Switches mid call to 2.5g if signal drops to much, but you don't get a chattering issue (i.e. where it regularly switches between the two).
Drove from Hook to Kent with CPL6 and BT GPS yesterday and that was flawless.
Have four phases of Sprite Backup - Different levels of build - so I can decide how far back to go in the event of problems.
Circa 28 mg of program memory following sof reset
Circa 31 mg of storage memory
PB is loading PI Calendar / Tasks / Messaging / Phatnotes / Pocket Weather.
Can someone help me with my wifi problem please. I can get connected to my network ok but IE will not show any pages, it just says wrong settings. I am connected with good signal strengh and thought that i would be able to surf when on my own home network. Most of the time it serches gprs and 3g then shows the error. An idiots step through guide would be helpful. I have searched for hours but came up blank. I also need a walkthrough on how to configue vodafone MMS settings as I cant get that to work either. Customer services isnt much good as the dont really know this device yet. Thanks in advance.
Hey Paul,
I have only the followinig intalled over the base v1605:
skype2
PHM Registry Editor
Microsoft .NET CF 2.0
Aspecto Software WiFiFoFum
Handmark Monopoly
That's it......
Rich
new unit arrived and the sticking key issue is gone thank god. I hve a few things installed now and the phone is running great. I installed agile messenger beta a few minutes ago as no msn client is in the vodaphone rom and the phone looked like it crashed then a few moments later it signed into msn.
1 thing I have noticed is if I mute the volume so I get a x sign near the volune if I click around I.e start menu and click around the operating system I can hear a clicking noise. could someone else test this 4 me I am currently in a quiet room.
also noticed when using pie with keyboard slid out my view will sometimes change from landscape to portrait view and then back to normal which is strange. I am sure my faulty device did this whilst just using the operating system in general use. shed a bit of light to what I have just found is that I just put the phone down open on the case it comes with and the same thing happened it must have something to do with the magnetic metal in the case effecting the phone causing it to rotate lol well that's what I think.
No clicking sound when I mute mine. Haven't really played around with mine yet. Will install everything once I get my microsd card.
Does your phone's keyboard click into place when you slide it open and is it right side only or both? Also did you check your call timers? Are they zero or has calls been made before receiving it?
Just got my TyTN
and all i got was a lousy keyboard..
got the bad keys on my unit. Waiting for response from HTC distributor, but they halted all sales of it until resolved. There are a lot of phones with bad keyboard.
But apart from that it seems to work fine - like the Jasjar in a smaller package.
But I liked the keyboard on my I-mate k-jam a lot better.
My first one had a few keys that weren't great, t, del and spacebar. This one is good for the keyboard. But....my screen is loosing calibration all the time again which is why I was given a replacement. Moves so that it is totaly unusable! Is anyone else experiencing it? If you are not is it a Voadafone one or something else. I've told Vodafone that I'd like another one out of a different batch and they said that they will extend my exchange period for a couple of weeks until some new ones come in. Might call HTC to see if it is a known "feature". Other than that I'm still totally happy with the device and it is much better at memory handling thn the Exec ever was, It never seems to drop below 22mb of program memory after having opened and closed programs for a clouple of days. The exec would have dropped to 17 by the end of the first.

FlashLight - anybody knows sth?

In Hermes I loved one feature: possibility of turning on the LEDs (called boldly a flash) with one of Vijay's apps. Of course I could not resist to test in on our (beloved) Rapahael but... Yes, you guessed right: marche pas/does not work/nie działa (choose the one you prefer). Anybody tried to work on this "problem of a person moving often in the dark areas with keys that must be inserted in always-too-small hole in the door"?
Of course you could just go in to camera settings to turn it on or off, it is only 3 or 4 screen taps away...
I mailed the author of the software, and he says that he will try to adapt to software as soon as he has some time, which would be in a few weeks. He says that there are people that already have modified his software to make it compatible with other devices. Anyone that can do this for the TP? I REALLY need that software too.
count me in on that one
i have been looking for it for 2 years now and it still dont look like there is gonna be an app for turning the flashlight on and off
as far as i know it is controlled by the cameradriver
Two years? It's been long available for wizard (vario) and hermes (vario 2). However, in case of my wizard I needed a rom update which included the correct htccamera1.dll (one that exports camera_flashlight method).
On a seperate note. I've been trying to get the flashlight to work on the touch pro, but no luck so far. Seems there is indeed (read it in diamond forums) at least one new parameter to the camera_init method. After debugging the dll it seems there may even be a lot more new parameters to the camera_init.
Anywayz, if I get anything to work I'll let it be known.
Waiting impatiently to test the results amd/or help in the process.
You could always try this:
http://www.artamata.com/pocketlight/
That doesn't work on the Raphael. It doesn't turn on the camera LED.
If you mean to use the screen blanker of that software, I sure hope you looked further, as there are other developers that made free versions, which are even more advanced (i.e. turning up backlight to full capacity at startup). Search the diamond forums for flashlight to find it.
Yay! I've just got it to work.
I'll build a small app for it to make it usable and post it on the forum.

you should try hTorch 3.2 as well,
which has a very elegant interface:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440405
As I said in another thread; lately I have been using TourchButton in combination with G-Trigger, I'm really pleased with how well it works.
The G-Trigger program runs in the background all the time, so now I just shake my phone a bit and I get light, shake it again and the TorchButton program runs again (thus turning it off).
And in the event the light should somehow accedentaly turn itself on, it will turn off after 60 sec as per the TorchButton code.

[APP] TorchButton v2.3, using camera LED as flashlight [UPDATED Dec 8]

Continuing my quest of using the LED as flashlight for my new HD2, I updated TorchButton to support the HD2 as well.
Dropped your keys? Finding something behind the bench? Performing surgery on a computer and need to find that jumper on the mainboard?
This is a simple application built for some HTC devices that have a hardware LED, normally used to take pictures in the dark. However I found the LED to be perfect to be used as a handy pocket flashlight.
Usage
There is no GUI for this application. Just start TorchButton to enable the LED on the back of your device. Start TorchButton again to turn it off.
Check out the readme if you're an advanced user and wish to change some registry settings, i.e. to allow a longer maximum time the LED is enabled.
Known issues
- [Fixed] New icons are not working when TorchButton is installed to Storage Card
Todo
- Create an app to configure the registry settings
- See if support for Omnia Pro (B7610) is feasible (someone should send me the related dlls...)
- [Done] Add a seperate timeout for bright mode
- [Done] Add blink mode with bright led
- [Done] Use new icons provided by tnyynt
- [Done] Add support for Omnia (the one found here)
- [Impossible] See if it's possible to control leds seperately ('economic mode') Sorry, this is not possible. (Tech-talk: setting a single GPIO enables both LEDs. There doesn't seem to be a GPIO for each LED seperately.)
Wishful thinking
- Camera app to interpret the morse
History
Version 2.3
- Fix icons not showing in HTC Sense or WM 6.5 start menu when installed to Storage Card.
Version 2.2
- New icons for all TorchButton apps (thanks tnyynt!). These only work in WM6.5 and up. Older OS's will still see the old icons.
- Added registry setting to use bright setting in blink mode (see BlinkUsesBrightMode).
- Bright mode now has a seperate timeout, configurable in registry (see BrightModeTimeout).
- Added support for Samsung Omnia i9x0 devices (hopefully they all work). Thanks to raph/zemrwhite2/PaSSoA. Thanks to Chainfire for testing on his Omnia i900L.
- [edit] Shortcut names have changed. I found them nicer this way, no two-line icons. And the text is now also not cut-off when added as shortcut in the home screen.
- [edit] Improved handling of bright mode. It should stop immediately now when pressed again, instead of waiting for a 500ms interval. This makes BlinkUsesBrightMode possible combined with low intervals for blink mode.
- [edit] Soft-reset your phone after upgrading from an older version! Else the new icons will not show.
Version 2.1
- Bright mode is now support on the HTC HD2 (Leo).
- Added a one-time warning message when bright mode is used for the first time.
Version 2.0
- Initial version with support for the HTC HD2 (Leo) (bright mode is not supported on the Leo)
Version 1.x
- Support for the Touch Pro
Dont think about something. Untill i read your post. This could be handy sometimes. Thnx
Awesome man I was just thinking how I missed that
Btw what's missing for bright mode to work? If I'm not mistaken there is a brighter mode just before taking a pic.
Thanks! I was dissapointed that hTorch didn't work on the HD2 now I got this. Wonderful!
Great ! thanks
Have it on my Omnia and was hoping to have it for my future HD2 !
You're all welcome! Glad to hear you like it.

The mode is there, but it's not as easily called as it was on the Touch Pro. In fact I haven't found the API call at all yet. May need some hacking around the API to get that to work. The normal mode produces _quite_ the amount of light though, it's even more light than the bright mode of the Touch Pro thanks to the dual led.

hTorch will work again once I update the C# wrapper to support the Leo, as hTorch makes use of my C# library. I'll do that somewhere in the upcoming week.

Can anyone confirm this don't burn anything out? On the X1 the light modules weren't heatsinked properly and caused vibrator motor to screw up after 15secs use as a torch.
Thanks!

I can't confirm it won't ever burn out. However, realise that enabling the LED is actually the same as using your camera with the lights on in the dark. This _shoud_ be possible for prolonged times as well.
Were you using the 'bright' setting on the X1? (If that's possible there.) That might explain it better... otherwise you could just send in the device for repair, as it's normal use of the device. Especially if it's after only 15 seconds.

It was a known problem that the LEDs weren't heatsinked properly on the X1 and there was a huge warning on using hTorch. I've not installed hTorch and never used the LEDs on my X1 as a torch cos of this oversight by the manufacturer. I do miss being able to use the LEDs as a torch though, it's very handy.

Any chance of some source code?
I've been looking through the HD2 camera drivers, and have found a few things that should be the LED (can't test it as I have no device), but am wondering if it's the same method as yours!

Here are the important code snippets of the API that I'm using. The methods were pretty obvious (luckily).
typedef int (__stdcall *LEO_INIT)();
typedef int (__stdcall *LEO_SETCURRENT)(DWORD dw1);
...
LEO_INIT InitFlashLight;
LEO_SETCURRENT PMICFlashLED_SetCurrent;
...
hCamera=LoadLibrary(L"CameraPlatform.dll");
...
InitFlashLight = (LEO_INIT) GetProcAddress(hCamera, L"InitFlashLight");
PMICFlashLED_SetCurrent = (LEO_SETCURRENT) GetProcAddress(hCamera, L"PMICFlashLED_SetCurrent");
...
InitFlashLight(); // must be called before SetCurrent has any effect
...
PMICFlashLED_SetCurrent(0); // turns it off
PMICFlashLED_SetCurrent(1); // turns it on
There's also a PMICFlashLED_SetMode(x); but I haven't been able to figure out what it does. As far as I could see when disassembling it wants one parameter.
If you have any ideas on the bright mode, they'd be more than welcome. If you want the full source to make some modifications or to toy with it, let me know.

That's what I'd come to as a conclusion, so glad that works!
Is there any need to un-init the flash light?
PMICFlashLED_SetMode will probably need some playing around, though might enable your "bright" mode. Will have a play with that when I get an HD2!

There doesn't seem to be an un-init function. However, the debug console shows that it detects when the DLL is being attached to or detached from, so there's probably some cleanup code there.
I also haven't found any side-effects yet. TorchButton works fine even when the camera app is running. They don't interfere with eachother (other than toggling the LED to their own behalf). On the Touch Pro it wasn't possible to run TorchButton and the camera app at the same time. Not that I ever wanted to, but still.
In regard to that mode function. It must be for something. I tried using it in various ways already but it didn't matter. Maybe you'll have more luck
might be confused right now, but seems that when in camera mode, and battery is below 50% you cant use the flash - anybody know if this will affect the app?
haven't got my hd2 yet so cant help you out, but there's a thread under the Leo -- > Leo sub-forum
cheerios!

landscape mode

hello,, is there a possiblity to make hd2 do a lanscape mode on either direction? i mean if you turn left it will landscape and if you turn right it will also lanscape.. many thanks
PS; i mean landscape left or right for sms, mails, note, internet, photos, musics,etc.... thanks again!!
Are you talking about the home screen? I have tried looking but cannot get it to work. XT Hack Beta2 has an option for manilla rotation (homescreen) but when i enable it and turn the phone it just goes black. Also with this enabled the lanscape scrolling of pictures and music tracks are messed. I like the idea of having the homescreen rotation enabled (and mayb all the other tabs except music and pictures coz they have it already). Maybe you have to have a wallpaper in landscape option like in the HDWalls add-on for the HD2 (but i dont think that is compatible with CHT 1.7.1). Hope someone can figure it out
THIS seems to work well.
But also has many other features. May be more then you want, but has some nice rotation functions.
yes, there is an application that makes this happen i am sure... I used one before called changescreen, I think that it does what you want.
give it a try...

How do I allow landscape for ALL apps (incl phn, home screen, start menu, etc) WM6.5

I've had my leo (us version) for a little over a year, and in the traditional MS way of things, the dern thing needs a hard reset. If I get motivated enough, I'm going to try android, but that's another story.
For the moment, there is one thing that has pissed me off about WM6.5 on the Leo since I started using it: it forces portrait mode in certain apps like the home screen, phone, start menu list, remote desktop, etc......
Is there any way to.....uh..... "unforce" portrait in these apps? I would like for it to just work like all the other apps that read the Gsensor.
I know it's possible, because there are moments when I cut my phone on/off or cover the proximity sensor and I can see those apps in landscape mode for just a moment before they automatically switch to and "lock" in portrait mode.
I googled it, and searched here, and can't seem to find a straightforward answer. I've also found work arounds for specific apps, but don't want to fix 1 or 2 programs that are limited by this, I want to just fix it so any program will react to the g sensor.
Anyone know anything about this?
TIA!
