Hi,
Secondhand bluetooth gps recievers are dirt cheap, its possibble to get one for €20.
So i was thinking about searching a good software to use on my vox.
I know TomTom is popular and very good but its not actually made for the Smartphones and u have to mess with the FakeCursor.
Another one is route66 wich is also very good but does it support the full qwerty keyboard? That would be so easy to enter destination
garmin....
Hi i am using ALK Copilot 7 which great on my vox.
It support Portrait and landscape mode and the full qwerty keyboard.
I have been using it for some time now.
Great. ..
Die pilot ziet er goed uit.
'k ga eens een download zoeken of kan jij me helpen?
Please do not write in a language other than English or at least write in both !
Is there a pedestrian mode in any of those apps?
EDIT: I just read that CoPilot Live 7 supports a "walking" mode!
TomTom 5.2 works fine and has all the possibilities!
this version is specially for smartphone so you don't need fakecursor.
supports full qwerty and walking and cycling..
(you can install certain v6 maps too)
cool will search for it. thank
try sygic Mcguider instead. can be found on several newsgroups.

Hi there,
I am looking for a good car navigation solution for Raphael (for travelling in Europe). After reading infos about TT which seems to work at least with the latest releases and Navigon (for which I am not that sure ...), I now read about Tele Atlas McGuider which also seems to be quite good and even less expensive, but it seems to lack TMC or other traffic assistance support which is crucial for me (radio broadcasted or via internet, I do not mind, but it is a must).
I know that there are some other solutions out there. I wonder if you guys have experiences to share, also w/regard to VGA screen resolution and so on.
Thanks!
Eriol
I like the CoPilot Live, works very well and has a nice look and feel.
Co Pilot live is ok, but the traffic part of it is rubbish compared with tomtom. There is no visual display of traffic incidents ahead on the map, only a description that pops up with incident details which you either avoid or ignore. You can set it to automatically reroute, but you dont know whats going on. In my opinion, tomtom is currently the best.
I also found co-pilot slow to scroll around the map, but there again i dont have a fast mem card. Unfortunately there si no trial version available. make sure you get the version specific for the HTC diamond (also compatible with Touch Pro). It can be purchased online (from handango) cheaper than most retail stores.
Thx to both of you! I still would like to compare TomTom with McGuider ...

McGuider
Hello,
I am using last version McGuider (7.x I think) and it work fine, but map and icons are too small, I and don't know if it can be repair.
Please if some one use thist program please write down here about how work.
Bye
Garmin XT is the best imo. TT cannot hold a candle to Garmin.
iGO 8
I think iGO 8 is the best solution for Raphael
Navigon
I really like Navigon !
Search Youtube for Navigon 7 !!

Hi Jochen,
I have a stand alone PNA running Navigon 6.5, and I like it, too. But my experience with Navigon, especially running on my HTC Wizard (MN 6.x), is that the route calculation is rather slow and the whole app is not that fast on a PDA. This might be different on a Raphael due to processor speed, though. We also will use an Xperia X1 here: Is it possible to run MN7 on 800x480 screens?
Eriol
i maybe wrong, but some navigation programs will only run when the supplied memory card is installed. Installing the maps to another card will not work which therefore means you have to swap cards when using the software. Check before you buy!!!

Navigon is nice-- but once you're in the tunnel and lose signal it would say you've reach your destination I also don't like its route calculation-- it's giving me a longer route than tomtom
To my mind ist the default navigation (TomTom 7.451) the best. it uses vga, is fast, new maps

In Copilot7 there is indeed visual display of incidents ahead on the map, you also can get to incident-specific info in just three taps, reporting delay and other usefull info........
No need for automatic rerouting, you can let Copilot ask you what you want to do, after you have read the incident-info and delay time.....
No need for the diamond-version either, regular version runs great on my Touchpro....
See.......................you we're allmost right.....
Someone tried Navigon Mobile Navigator 7 for PDA on Raphael?
Is it compatible and full working?
Before then I buy, I asked to the support team, but no clear response about it.
Thanks.
NAVIGON Mobile Navigator 7 can work fine on Raphael, with this simple workaround.
You need a GPS port replicator (like Franson GPSgate) to solve the GPS signal stability problem on MN7.
I hope this can help who love this product family.
Title says all.
I've only experienced TomTom 6 and now i'm using v7. I find it quite slow to be honest. I expected more from it. I'm using UDK R7 and my device is quite fast. But TomTom 7 disapoints me a bit.
Has any1 tried another application that runs faster and does a nice job?
Hi there,
I currently use iGo, it's really faster and more efficient than tomtom !

I must agree!
I'm very pleased with iGo!
That depends on which part of world you live in and whether all the required maps are available .. !
Agreed with previous poster.
But, if you live in Europe, specially Eastern Europe, iGO is the best.
iGo iGo iGo..... By far. the only delay I've ever experienced is on load with iGo is geo-caching the addresses - UK based.
Seems i buck the trend and use TomTom7 - i have igo8 on it as back up but find its not as good for finding address with postcodes.
I prefer the UI in igo8 but i prefer the use in TT7
Mobile Navigon 7 (PDA version) could also be a good choice; I use it for over 6 month by now (with my X7500) and is really good. I also have the iGo 8 (full Europe ... cracked ) and TT 6 (full Europe licensed); from all, I prefer Navigon 7 (also full Europe and licensed).
Cheers.
ok, i will try some of there and see, im werry tierd of tomtom...
i like tomtom but im using Ndrive v3 and is very fast and very complete here in portugal... but i like to try igo for a few days with europe map...
Hi,
This is probably a silly question but will iGo read TomTom maps? I've got TomTom 6 but judging from the praise for iGo on this thread it looks worth a go but I'm concerned about having to buy a new Western Europe map.
Ta
Hmmm... not sure the maps are the same format...
Actually, I believe they are not. iGO format is *.fbl, but there are also buildings, POIs, speedcams...
When you buy iGO, you also state for what area. My iGO came with maps for 26 Central/East European countries...
There are several packages, so choose wisely.
I've TomTom7 and Igo8 R3 on my Poalris.
But the favorite is IGO8 Igo is faster and the skins are great.
Leo
Mobile Navigator 7 is my favorite. fast...very nice skin... nice features and the most important thing: its stable
Garmin Mobile XT works fine
Remarkable that none has picked Garmin Mobile XT as the best so far. I use it with great pleasure both in the car with Europe NT9 and onboard the boat with the BlueChart Maps.
Andbertina
I just had a look on the Garmin site - it is not clear whether you can buy the nav software for the PPC, or do you have to get the nav hardware?
i was going to try iGo but the maps are old and there's nothing worse than being steered into a brick wall.
Garmin
Garmin Mobile XT, then add the maps you need
It is nearly the same GUI and software you find in the Garmin devices, with additional features related to connectivity
I just installed iGO8 but it says "GPS receiver not found".
I'm using Syrius UDK R7, and i also have TomTom7 installed and it works fine (laggy but fine).
Does any1 know whats going on?

Try sygic or route 66 mobile 8.
Sygic is fast and is very easy to work with this program.
Route 66 have the best maps and precision when you make long "drivers".

Thanks for that I will check it for a uk version
Garmin XT..
I'm pretty boring. I have tomtom for in-car satnav and google maps for if i get lost walking round a city.
Both are free (whoo!) but remember google will require a data connection to download maps (free) as you go and tomtom requires you to buy the maps (i believe you can get a free city map when you sign up on their site)
Cool Cheers
I will have a look on the old Fleabay
alright mate,
i have co pilot and it rocks dude.
i use it with an external gps, but i have also tried my google maps with internal gps and that was fairly accurate.
I have copilot also. works great. I got it off amazon.co.uk for about £60. not cheap but very good. Loads of different voice, POIs etc if thats what you want.
I even use it on my motor bike and the buttons are big enough even if you have gloves on.
Garmin is good. And they have UK nav. Or you can try co-pilot. My friend Nina was using that and she said it worked great. Also she found some other GPS on internet like zorro. They must have UK based nav.
i've seen many GPS tests on WM platform, and i think that iGo Amigo is the best app available, with Navigon following shortly behind....

Hi All,
I see that many of you have TT7 working on HD2. Can I ask if anyone has official maps working?
I have TT 7.915 and V8.4 map ( purchased ( with real money! ) through TT ). This was on my Diamond. I want to transfer this onto my shiny HD2 but so far TT Home does not recognise HD2 as this is not officially supported. ASs this is the case I cannot transfer the account to the HD2.
I don't want to go down the route of 'unofficial sites' and I definately don't want to be stuck with CoPilot!!
Cheers in Advance
same problem here...tthome dont see hd2 and cant update maps
same for me too, does anyone have any tips?
Heeelppp !!!
I've just bought HD2 ...630 euros in Italy and my TT7 7.9 maps don't go... Say me Not enough memory !... In my Msd 16 gb !..
I have 1.48 ROM Ita.... Anyone can help me ?
Thanks in advance....
I just received my HD2, it's the orange french rom and tomtom7 is working ok.
Here is what I installed :
Tomtom 7.915.9196 + Carte Western & Central Europe 8.35.2421
I have an official version of TomTom but when I attempt to install it I get the following error message:
"Your device is not compatible with this version of Tom Tom Navigator!"
Hello,
I have A touch HD2 and I have the message "Your device is not compatible with this version of Tom Tom Navigator!" when I install the 7.916.9189 vga version but the 7.915.9196 works great.
I hope it can help you.
My problem is that I have a legal copy of Tom Tom map of WE but as TT is not yet supported on HD2 I have no way of linking the Map to my device.
All works fine on my Diamond but now I will format and sell the Diamond but want to link the TomTom account to the new phone...
But TomTom do not recognise the phone.....
for those who dont want to use copilot:
--> my device: HD2 bough without any branding, simlock etc, in Austria, ROM 1.43.407.2 (70124) GER
i got "Sygic mobile maps 9" running which is suitable for WindowsMobile, Android AND Symbian - at the same time, just different installers as it seems (only tested it on WM)
its VERY fast finding sattelites & finding the way (Vienna to Hannover which is about 1000km took about 20 seconds), there are maps for i think all over the world and the complete europe maps is 80€ (i'm sure you can find it as an illegal working download....)
this is the way i avoided copilot & tomtom...
hope you find a working solution =)
Tomtom v7.915 build 9196 Black Edition is an Unofficial version, but works on the HTC Leo (It show how speed is the community, unlike tomtom ...) It fix the BT bug.
It's for the moment the only way to have a working tomtom. But, as ever, maps will work only if you have the good DCT : a map will work for only ONE device. The use on an other device is forbidden.
Be careful : maps 840.2562 won't work on WinCE devices
Thanks, it works, no more BT annoyance !

No one me won't help?
Hi
it works on my without any problems. I use their ver 7 try&buy.
don't bother to install any warez version as most of them are ported from pna devices and not working.
rgds
works here great also... sd ready version - license from german mediamarkt=)
No problems at all
Installed the Try & Buy Version from Navigon Website and licensed after a week
does TMC work with navigon on HD2?
30 day trial version from Navigon website here also, works great!
I have TMC working with the GNS Trafficbox FM9BT-Y(hate it because when I'm not in or near the car you get a screen asking to connect bluetooth blabla every few seconds)
So using TMC from Navigon (Traffic Live) now, seems to work very good.
It uses the data connection to get traffic info and is free for the trial period.
I'm not sure what Traffic Live is going to cost though, it seems that the Iphone guys get it for $20 orso for lifetime.
A can me somebody write line where can draw down that 30 trial version?Be about blind but cannot it find thanks in advance
http://www.navigon.com/portal/int/produkte/navigationssoftware/mobile_navigator_windows_mobile_region.html
Aber sicher! Yes, it works!
Und noch dazu, Traffic Live läuft wunderbar! And, even more, Traffic Live is working by the book.
Mfg, Cheers.
