What is this strange setting in the Windows Mobile 6 for:
settings -> connections -> usb to pc
turn it off and connect your pda to pc. You will now see on screen instructions about the connection. When it's on, there is no such screen. So that means it makes the process automatic. This is what i know.
Uncheck the Enable advanced network functionality to disable RNDIS and enable PPP. Alternate ActiveSync connection for using serial/normal mode, this can bypass windows firewall for activesync.

What is internet pass through? Internet pass though allows the device to share PC/Laptop internet with the device. To set it up you need to go to ActiveSync on your PC/Laptop and click File---> Connection Setting. Then where is says “This computer is connected to” change it “work network” or “The Internet”. If you are behind a firewall, please make sure that the Active Sync allows access to the internet. When the device is not cradled open Active Sync on your device tab Tools--> Options--> Options ---> Maintain connection. Soft reset your device and you are ready.
This help?

I updated to the lovely windows 6. I could sync to my XP computer no problem until I've used the internet sharing utility. Then everytime I connect the phone to the computer, the computer networks with the internet sharing utility and activesync doesn't get a look in.
If I delete my vodafone 1240 from the activesync devices I can start again until I use internet sharing again.
I need both. How can I stop internet sharing so that activesync will again recognise the computer? I connect via the usb port.
Try to accept wireless connection in ActiveSync.
not sure if it will work for you, but what worked for me (HTC touch pro, custom ROM PROven):
1. go to Settings on your HTC, Connections, USB-to-PC, select ActiveSync radiobutton, uncheck the "Ask me first about...." checkbox.
2. connect your phone using active sync.
3. disconnect (unplug)
4. go to that same settings again. Now select the other radiobutton (DiskDrive), AND check the "Ask me first..." checkbox.
When you now again connect your phone, it will (hopefully) ask what connection you want to make.
Otherwise, try changing the order of the above actions.
hope that helps.
In case if the above post doesn't help
Activesync on PC uses LAN interface for data transfer between PC and WMPhone.
When you enable internet connection sharing it changes some connections' settings to manual - i.e. 192.168.0.1. So make sure that your LAN interface that is used by activesync, is set to get IP address automatically.
Does anyone else have problems with Windows Mobile Centre just not connecting to their device? Looking in Device Manager, it recognises it as an 'MS Windows Mobile Remote Adapter' but not as a mobile device?
I was hoping to flash it soon, but this is rather a problem if Vista wont connect with it
Try going into settings/connection tab/USB to PC/uncheck the box "enable advanced network functionality".
plz post results if it worked.
I'm sorry, Settings on what? On WMDC the settings has no tabs...
That setting is on the device: start, settings, connection tab, usb-to-pc
By unticking it, you change the connection from an IP one to a USB one (and hence remove possible firewall problems from the equation).
The other thing to try is to remove the device pin lock setting and then connect .
I cannot enable my wifi, how to resolve this?
ActiveSync via (W)LAN isn't possible.
nono, i don't mean connecting to activeSync via wifi, it's when i'm connected to activesync(USB), my wifi is disabled, and cannot be enable...
Thats normal! You cant enable wifi via Comm Manager while your device is connected.. Try to enable it over the Settings -> connections -> Wi-Fi..
May be your PC was on the internet, cut off the internet connection on your PC,and try again!
Open active sync on PC while connected and then settings, tick the box for "allow data connection on device when connected to pc"
HTC disabled WiFi when plugged in with ActiveSync...
If you want wifi on, either enable it before plugging the device in, or use the WM settings menus.
Oh, that's why, i thought my Wifi spoilt, lol thanks for the help guys
I need to connect my PPC to internet via my computer (via USB cable or Bluetooth) can I do this?
Btw, Windows Mobile 6.1 is running on my device.
If i persume you mean you want to use the interenet from your phone on your computer then yes it's possible, "Internet Sharing" most WM phone have it built in.
If the opposite way you just use async or WMDC.
Yes, you guessed. My PC is connected to Internet but my mobile device isn't. So I need to connect my mobile device to the internet using my computer. I've tried WMDC but I couldn't find anyway to accomplish this
I found it, thank you!
Mobile Device Settings -> Change Connection Settings -> This computer is connected to -> Automatic
