AT&T Fuze - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I've had TONS of PM's recently (12 in the 3 days I was in VT) so I wanted to clear some things up and answer a few questions.
1) ROM DUMP... The ROM incognitho posted is the one on my Fuze, same radio and everything. If that doesn't give you 3G, no ROM/radio will.
2) MMS... Your Raphael automatically obtains the same settings as mine for MMS, if it doesn't work, fix it through AT&T.
3) Software/hardware capabilities... The G-sensor calibrator, FM radio and TV out all function completely after the software was installed. Thanks to sub69 and schaps.
Any more questions so my PM box stops overflowing?
Keep negativity elsewhere as I'm already on thin ice, I'll answer anything I can but once the mudslinging starts this thread is gone.

I'm afraid that black may be right on the 3g in the US. If his rom & radio don't give the UK touch pro 3g in the states, I really don't know what else can be done to open it up as that rom/radio do enabe the 3g on his touch pro. I really do hope I'm wrong as I currenly have a UK touch pro in the US but when the fuze comes out I know I will have no problem selling it and I'll just get the Fuze. It's a shame because I think I would like the layout of the UK keyboard better than the Fuze. Only time will tell I guess.

Well, I can't say I know that the hardware is different (nix the keyboard/camera/etc), but I do know my phone works flawlessly on 3G/HSPA with the currently available radio/ROM. I'm sorry to hear people have tried this with no success, as that means many people have wasted a grand for no 3G. :-(

The software wasn't installed, but after sub69 did me the favor of extracting the FM radio files from his Touch Pro and putting them into a CAB, it works perfectly on my Fuze. Same applies to TV-out, software wasn't there, but after installed it works mint.

Are you talking about the AT&T Fuze ROM? If you are, then no that ROM will brick the hell out of your phone if you try it. Stick to the Hermes forum for Hermes ROMs

No, the ROM wont work straight out. It would have to be ported to work on the Hermes. There was one ported for the Kaiser (IBI) but i don't think anything for the Hermes was released.

oops i meant kaiser, i sold my hermes.

Just got the S730

I just bought the HTC S730 today
Where is the s730 forum here?
I have tried like a crazy person to get the 'built-in' gps to work, but i cant even find one satellite :-( Perhaps they have disabled it in the Rom...
Cant wait to hear from other users who have bought the final version of this phone and if they can get the gps to work..
Could you upload your HTC Home screen? I think a lot of users (including me ) are waiting here for this. Would you be so kind please?

As soon as I have time we will research it. If the hardware is really built in we will get it going some time (it *will* take time tho)
Got my S730 a few days ago. Loving it so far, except...
Couldn't find any satellites with Google Maps so the GPS does indeed appear to be disabled in the final ROM. I hope someone finds a "fix" for this soon. ;-)
Also, I can't get BlackBerry Connect 4.0.0.76 or 4.0.0.84 to connect RIM. My subscription is enabled (works fine on my BB Pearl) but I can't get a PIN on the S730. If anyone has managed to get this working, I'd love some help.
Cheers

Go to Application Data and the best is you copy the whole Home-Folder and upload it.

Can someone btw tell me how i can get more appointments to show in the HTC Home Screen?
Thank you very much! But not working on Vox, there are some missing files in system and plugin support.. I think the clsid is different from the Vox's one and it will be more difficult to make it work.. It only shows appointments I will do some researches
And your question - I tried to find it inside of xml, but not there.. HTC made a configurator to modify HTC home on PPC, so maybe for smartphones it also will appear.. I guess
GPS seems to be in HTC S730
I got my S730 today. Have tried with Efficasoft GPS Utilities for Smartphone v2.0 and Chartcross GPS Test Version 1.04. Both programs finds 0-1 satelliets, not enough for positioning, but there seems to be a GPS. But whay can't it identify enough of satellites?

HTC TYTN II ----or----- HTC s730
Can someone please help me decide between the HTC Tytn II OR the HTC S730? I am a heavy texter, sometimes check email, and want a fast phone. I'm worried that the HTC s730's keyboard is not comfortable -- can someone that uses it give me a heads up on how comfortable/good it is? Is the WM Smartphone's UI annoying? - i've been using pocket pc for a long time & I just want to know if its difficult to switch to a standard smartphone like the HTC s730? Thanks in advance for your feedback & comments - they are all much appreciated
Hmmm i havent tried yhe Tytn so i cant compare the two phones. But i had a Touch before i bought my S730 and i must that it was a step in the right direction text-typing-wise... The s730 is not as good to type on as an Nokia Communicator (imo the best phone for typing), but it's pretty good. And its great to have two options for typing : numeric with T9 and the qwerty inside...
About the smartphone ui....Grrrrrr it is a little bit annoying.. I hate that the settings are so locked. You have far few options in the settings compared to the PPC interface. But then on the other hand there are some features that works better on the smartphone than on the PDA.
All in all i am a very happy little piggy with my S730. I would not trade it for any other phone on the market.

I am also pretty happy with the S730... i used to have a vox and a wizard i must say I keep going to press the screen on the s730 because i was used to ppc but im sure it wont take long for me to get used to it..
one thing battery for me at least seems to be an issue.. fully charged at 7am this morning I had 1 bar left by 11am... Martin is your battery life the same?
the keyboard on the s730 is excellent very good i am already beginning to become a gun on it.. as for the kaiser my friend has one they are way too big for me i guess you need to ask yourself do you want a phone with pda features or a pda with phone features?
Brisbane_guy : I have not expirenced such lousy battery time as you describe. My battery last for about 2 days and i dont turn it off at night. So about 48 hours. But i have disabled BT and WIFI most of the time...
Many thanks Martin & Brisbane for your feedback I'm going to buy the s730 based on your positive feedback

You really should consider the Asus P750. It's only 130g, has 3g, gps (sirf3), wlan, bt2.0, touchscreen, WM6 Prof, 520MHz ARM, 256MB flash and 64MB ram.
On Modaco someone called it the kaiser killer.

How Can install Mobile 5 or 6 into a GPS?

I have a Navman S50. It comes with a very simple Windows CE version. I would like to install a version with more features like internet explorer, messenger etc. Can I install any of those mobile Rom versions into my GPS?
How? Any tutorial around?
Need I to make a backup from the ROM por posible warranty issues?
Thanks for advanced.

Sure...GPS, phone. They are all the same thing, right?
By the way, can anyone tell me how to load a ROM for my calculator so it can be a portable television?

You may be able to find a pda rom that would work with your Navman but not a smartphone rom because your Navman do not have the hardware that makes it behave like a phone. You could try a pda forum instead of trying to find help here. It would need to be a rom for a device that has the same specification as yours and even that may not work. It needs to use the same update method/bootloader at least!

i use it wil tomtom gps software, watch my home DVR/TV via slingbox software, use it to make/eceive calls with my blutooth headset, as well as send corporate and personal emails that sync up with my mail server....the xv6800 is the most powerful and expandable device on this entire forum, so just get one, and quit trying to ghetto-rig a GPS to make it what it cant be

Hello crobs808, I had a look to the ppc6800 at looks very nice, interesting the onboard keyboard. It´s an option but an extra investment I´m not sure if it´s worth. What I don´t like much are the 2.8" tft, seems quite small.
I´ll try to contact that guy that has his GPS working as a complete PDA. The good point it that the navman S50 has a 4.3" screen that seems more confortable to my eyes.

wovems, do you know any forum you would recomend? I think It will be no easy to find the correct forum. The doubt I have is; if the rom doesn´t work, could return it to the original? or is the risk of damaging it? That it´s the only important. If there is low risk, o no risk, can look for a rom, and try it, but if I would be on risk, so It wouldn´t worth to try nothing.
The Navman allows to intall some little programs on the Flash card, or the Storage card, but I couln´t find no internet browser that can be opened. Maybe the Windows Ce version is missing some dll files (have read something about), but I don´t know, and it´s dificult to find info about how to install that optional dlls.

nah, no way...they have the same processor and all, but you cant get a CDMA version of the Kaiser, and EVDO/CDMA data rates are much faster than GSM model phones. I get 1600/800 on my verizon CDMA phone, so for that alone it's worth it...sure, if there was a CDMA Kaiser, then they might be on the same playing level, but I use about 8 email accounts with my phone, and need that speed to push/pull email all day long on all 8 accounts...cant be waiting.

FM Radio on Sprint Touch Pro/Diamond

So thus far there is no FM radio cab on the Touch pro from sprint.
If you are interested in the sprint diamond, there is a fix for that in the diamond forums both here and at ppcgeeks.
If you are interested in a fix for the Fuze:

I don't think there is a rom out there yet for the Sprint Touch Pro - it's a CDMA phone so none of the existing roms will work on it (I assume?).
Any luck with this anyone
no luck
Just loaded the cab i found in one of the threads. installed on my sprint touch pro and loaded fine. but would not play. I think they removed the hardware.

Did you have headphones plugged in? On the Fuze I had to install the cab and plug the headphones in before the program would run because it uses the headphones as an antenna.
yeah i plugged them in. it did say i needed to do it before hand but no luck, just shows that little colorful circle waiting icon. I assume it is searching for a signal or something and then will just sit there and nothing works. Maybe that is why the unit is a smidge smaller than the gsm version.
Same thing here, app installs fine but doesn't do anything.
same here but how about the headphones with built in fm radio antenna has anyone tried those and see if it works?

It shouldn't matter. On the Fuze I just plugged in a pair of iPod earbuds and the FM radio worked great.
Don't want to kill the buzz, but my understanding is that Sprint took it a step further than AT&T and neutered the phone to remove the radio chip so there is no software solution...

I don't think so. They took the same exact hardware that AT&T did except that the mold is different (appearance). It is probably only restricted by software. Try installing the cab for the fm radio. It could possibly work.

I installed the FM Radio App on my Touch Pro and, with the headphones plugged, the app starts, waits for a little bit, and then I get an "Unspecified Error".
Do we know for a fact that the FM circuitry has been removed? Is there a driver that needs to be installed in Windows Mobile? Could the radio be re-enabled via a change in the firmware?

It could be the FM Radio is specific to the GSM versions of the phone. But we need a tech person to prove that.

I wouldn't say that. Along with changing from GSM to CDMA cellular radios they could have changed virtually anything. At this point there is no telling wether the hardware is present or not. I'd love an FM radio on my Sprint Pro, but I'm not too optimistic.
I wanted the radio, too. But as a pratical matter, I doubt it would have worked too well unless you were right on top of the station. I find I can listen to most of the radio I want using Kinoma's media guide. It's wonderful. I'm still hoping someone discovers a way to activate the radio. How ignorant of Sprint to disable it.....
Why is it always SOMETHING with every Sprint phone? Why do they always have to disable something? What good does it do them to disable the FM radio?

Well thats a no brainer there bud...if we all had the FM Radio working thanks to this new HTC Product..then Sprint would get there ass kicked in regards to their sprint store with the music downloads and all... It takes from their profitasbility for us to have the Built in FM Radio functioning.

Keyboard backlight?

Is there a way to make the keyboard backlight come on and stay on when you slide it out?
I don't like the auto sensor on my Mogul, and set it up to stay on all the time.
I can't find that option on my Touch Pro?
I am in the same boat. I am looking for a fix. I tried Kaiser Tweaks does not work. I would like it to stay on maybe a minute, and at the least 30 Seconds
I just found the solution for you:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout
Change this value to whatever you like - just tested it and it works!
huh, didn't work on mine.
Did not work on mine either. Actually it was already changed from the Kaiser Hack. Still Trying.
I swear - it's working on mine! Otherwise I wouldn't have stated "solved" that full-bodied!
Seems many folks can confirm it not working on the Sprint HTC T. P.
Yours is GSM? Maybe it's different enough to make the diff.
I've got an unbranded german device.

Worked like a charm on my Touch Pro.
Thanks alot for such a simple fix that helped alot.
Seems to be mixed reviews. The Sprint HTC TP does not respond to the setting. I am wondering if it has to do with the light sensor. I have been playing and no success. This is driving me crazy. I also hate how the home/backkey/phone keys shut down so fast.
I had a palm 700p, and switched to the touch pro (great device by the way), and ther was all kinds of utility software that developers were selling to control these types of issues.
I used a software program that would dim the lights, and keep them dim for a specified time, and them shut them off after a specified time.
To bad there is not a product like that applicable to the sprint TP.

Surely it worked with all. It might be another "overriding" configuration that is making the reg hack ineffective!!
It always worked on OEMs..
I have been going through my sprint TP with a fine tooth comb. I don't have any other configs that could over ride the reg edit, that I can see (programs also). I have not tweaked any other settings that I did not set back to the original that would interfere with the tweak.
Thanks, for the response, I will keep working on it.
Any update on this for the sprint tp's?
I've been annoyed by this for too long now.
No go for the Sprint TP's. Lots of folks looking for a solution on ppcgeeks. Oh well. Just another thing that Sprint tweaked for us, just like removing the FM radio.
Worked fine on my UK TP using ROMeOS, Big thanks to the poster, as this has been winding me up for a while.

Where is the FM Radio on the Fuze?

Ive searched and searched and cant find any info on this. Closest I got was that there is a cab file but nothing else...
Can someone point out where to get this for the Fuze?
Hey! Mr noob here I had the same question. I believe the hardware is intact on the Fuze but att elected not to put any software on the phone to run it?? So you will have to install your own third party software to use it?
yep, if u install the fm radio cab then you will find fm radio in programs. but it will only work with the headset dongle thingy attached, as that is your antenna
the hardware is there, but it didnt come with the software is all
so can anyone supply a link for the required software?
