Hi Guys,
I have been in contact with T-Mobile on a few occasions with regards to the update for the Vario 3, however I seem to be going nowhere fast as per the update to the Vario 2.
Anyone have any contacts within HTC or T-Mob to get a beta release of the software?
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but it's what my search for 'T-mobile windows 6.1' led me to!
I've just received a Vario III replacement from T-mobile UK, and it comes installed with an official T-mobile 6.1 Rom.
I'm currently dumping it, and will attempt to reconstruct it (for installing for future returns if needed), and upload it if anyone wants it.
Apologies if this is old news and has been around for ages, but I could not find it in searches.
yes please I would like this very much!
I would also love to have this rom
Ok, I tried reconstructing it, but it was not successful.
I used the base rom and did everything as discribed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066
I could not try it, as if it did not work, I'd lose the official rom, so someone here tried it and it was not like the T-mobile 6.1 rom.
Does anyone know if I need to use a 6.1 base rom instead of the WM6 one mentioned in the reconstruction thread?
I can upload the dumped raw files if anyone wants to try reconstruction?
Hi Folks,
I've uploaded the dumped .raw files from the official T-mobile UK 6.1 rom that I received with a replacement Vario III:
Part00.raw: http://rapidshare.com/files/193445393/Part00.raw
Part01.raw: http://rapidshare.com/files/193445718/Part01.raw
Part02.raw: http://rapidshare.com/files/193452226/Part02.raw
Part03.raw: http://rapidshare.com/files/193466366/Part03.raw.html
If you manage to reconstruct this, please upload the resulting rom so that myself and others can have it!
Cheers!
Anyone brave enough to give this a go?
Also, how good is the ROM? Does it appear fast?
It does seem quite good, stable & fast to be honest... and I've been used to quite up to date 6.1 cooked roms.
Though I usually just stick PointUI over any rom I use (as it's still better than TF2D for most things), so cooked roms don't really speed anything up significantly compared to the original T-mobile WM6 rom (as PointUI runs fast on all versions).
This rom doesn't have some of the good customisations or applications of more recent cooked roms, but it does come with a version of Audio Manager that has Volume up and down buttons on the screen. Seemingly unlike most chiefs, I consider this to be a useful feature for a music player!
I'd say it's definietly worth a try!
T-Mobile 6.1 UK (reconstructed without radio)

Very nice.
Quick question, what is the version of the radio on your device?
Good work monkey, it works a treat. Cheers!
There are some decent things about this ROM on first impressions. The screen update when keyboard typing seems exceptionally fast, although the screen tilt change is perhaps a little slower than on some others ROMs.

The radio on my own device is from T-Mobile NL (just look at my sig)
I don't know the radio or the SPL version from the UK rom so I didn't include it.
Radio version 1.70.18.02 came with the 6.1 official T-mobile 6.1 rom on my Kaiser, and it seemed to work great.

Same radio as the dutch one, and is already in the wiki.

I had a new 6.1 UK rom when I had phone back but it would not let me pair up bluetooth with pc.
Any one got any problems with this with the rom?

Hi,
Does anyone know if someone is creating a TouchFlo ROM for the Kaiser? I've seen the ones developed for the Wizard and Hermes which are very cool but I doubt either of these would work on a Kaiser.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.
First we need to bypass bootloader protections to flash unsigned code, then doing the ROM with htc home plugin & elf skinning will be a matter of minutes.
in the new ROM (with gps activated ) it seem HTC have put much of Touch\Elf.....

Can you elaborate on this. Which features are already present?
I haven't seen or used the HTC Touch yet but I haven't found anything different in the Kaiser thusfar (and my GPS is enabled as TomTom is working fine)

It all depends on the unit itself wether its sim, cid, or both unlocked. My unit is locked to UK Tmobile and wont accept any other roms such as cingular n etc. Luckily the T-Mobile in UK announced the Kaiser to be available in August. Hopefully a rom gets leaked soon so I cna bring mine to life ...O

Rom-version 1.49.172.2 Dutch:
in Settings/System/ there is an option called TouchFLO.
With it you can do the following:
(translated from Dutch) Turn sound on when horizontally and vertically sliding finger.
(for Dutchmen: Geluid bij horizontaal en verticaal verschuiven met vinger inschakelen)
Don't really think it's that fancy, and I haven't gotten in to work yet, maybe when playing an MP3
Kurgann:
Did you buy it in NL? and if so where? My supplier says they wont be available for sale until end of Sept.

Tytn II comes with TouchFlo
Yes, I got mine today and the touchflo technology is integrated. unfortunately not the cube.
Tried the cube alpha but only get black screen. so we have to wait until it is "opened" and roms can be cooked. Then I think its easier to integrate than in the hermes...
it works for me but it's far from perfect, works with the button and I have to reinitialize it after each time it's going to standby and back so I'm so surprised with the replay that it works with the finger slide.
Sorry for simple question, newbie here. Is there a concensus on the best ROM to update the TyTN II (US Version). I am having trouble deciphering all the threads. Is the HTC "factory" ROM best option? Thanks for any advice offered.

It all depends on what you are looking for. There are tons of ROMs for that device. Dutty's Touchflo is really good if you want that type of interface. The problem with the original ROM is it isn't optimized very well, could be faster and there are others out there that are. You should be lucky you dont have the Tilt, that ROM from AT&T is the slowest I have had on the device. I am looking at one that is fast and comes with as little as possible, but still allows for lots to be added, for instance I like Dutty's Touchflo but I would like to have a clean one with nothing but the basics then add the stuff myself that I want. (touchflo so far doesn't have a cab installer).
I found about 5 more ROMs that I wanna try out before I decide on just settling for one (for now).
Tilt
The TyTN II is the Tilt, isn't it? I have the Tilt.
The TyTN II and the Tilt/8925 are variants of the HTC Kaiser. Different models, but very similar.
TYTN II have the front camera, tilt doesn't.
That's the only noticeable difference (aside from different coloured keyboard).
Another difference is the way the radio is implemented into the Tilt on the latest ROM. The Tilt Radio does not work with the TyTN II ROM, but the Tilt ROM works with the TyTN II Radio. Not to confuse you or anything.

Don't worry about the Tilt/TyTN II differences. Just read through the discussion thread for each ROM releases and decide which one fits you better. I went through HelmiC's BigStorage, Kyphur's XDA-Live 1.0, and now I have finally settled with Dutty's Hybrid No.4 Lite version. I ditched Helmi's because it was outdated. XDA-Live was very problematic for me but ran awesome. No.4 Lite has been great so far with no problems. *knock on wood* So, it's pretty much a trail-and-error kind of deal. Try and decide on which one to keep.
another newbie with the same question. Flashing is a pain when you first start, but you gotta get use to it. Some of us flash our phones twice a week. Play around with your stock phone and figure what apps you like. Then find a rom that seems close to it. Then flash it. Otherwise, if you are afraid to flash, stick with the stock.
After flashing half a dozen roms I have settled on the latest ATT Tilt rom without the customizations and the device is overall more stable and usable than ever, plus no need to CID unlock...bonus.

Thanks. I just called AT&T and told them I was going to Europe and that I needed my phone unlocked. They sent code in an hour, so it's unlocked anyway!

CID Unlock and Sim Unlock are 2 different things
Back on topic:
If you're after the Touch interface, go with Dutty's Touch Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you want something that's not too far removed from the stock HTC, but with some bugs fixed and other improvements, go with Sleuth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343867
I'm currently running Dutty's Hybrid Test Final RTM, from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341879
It's the best mix of speed, apps, and stability I've found.
If you want a starting point, try that. But be warned: rom flashing is an addictive pursuit. Once you start, there'll always be that nagging feeling that the next rom is better, or that someone else's rom has features you need.
Good luck!
You should really refer to the Wiki first before you do any flashing.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
I would highly recommend doing a CID unlock & Flash and ROM on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
If you have a TyTN II I would suggest using Dutty's ToucFlo Final ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you have a At&t Tilt I would suggest using Dutty's TouchFlo Tilt Beta ROM.

Hope this helps.
English verison Rom HTC tilt HTC TyTn 11
Hello, I'm working in Russia, i bught the above here in msocw, but the rm is Russian version, Where can i ger an English (european) rom version?
I would really be greatful for some assistance..
Thank you
Just remember, when CID unlocking your device to flash cooked roms, there will be more of a process reverting to an ATT rom, if the need arises i.e. return, or warranty issues.
By starting off with an official ATT rom, there is no need to use HardSPL and like I previously mentioned, restarting before ATT custoimizations initiate leaves you with a speedy, reliable, full featured rom that is a lot better than the fully bloated, initial ATT release (radio is worlds better in the new one)
Then, you can always CID unlock and flash again later to a cooked rom if you wish. This could be considered a baby step to customizing and is a safe way to go.
My biggest gripe with a lot of the cooked roms, especially ones based on the HTC factory build is that they are not oiptimized for the tilt and have superflous features that I don't need/want.
Just my 2 pennies.
Maybe we need a upgrade guide like MrVanx made for the hermes.

How does the cube work on Gullum's ROM...I have no complaints with Dutty's TouchFLO Tilt BETA
I do not think Gullum includes the cube. Maybe someone that actually runs it can chime in.
I have my i-mate SP5 running wm6 Tornado Perfect English Edition as of now. However I want to downgrade it back to the official i-mate ROM as I'm parting ways with my SP5.
I have found this ROM on the club i-mate FTP. ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/i-mate_SP5_WWE_2.5.331.2.zip
Can I flash this ROM without modifying anything and get to back to the original ROM? I did the SuperCID when I was upgrading so is there anything similar I should do when I'm downgrading?
Any help much appreciated.
Just hard reset and run the RUU, or be safe, format BINFS first
Do you mean the file I mentioned above? Couldn't find RUU file on the club i-mate server.
RUU is basically the ROM im talking about here
From what I've seen, the stock ROMs (like the iMate one) are usually bigger than the cooked WM6 ROMs. So if you're uncomfortable with doing a format BINFS, you may be able to just download the file from the ftp site, and run it. You should be back to WM5.
Why are you going back anyway?
I'm also back at WM5... I tried to get along with the WM6 of Karhoe (who did a pretty good job) but I've got the problem with the time out delay at the incoming calls.
There I'm getting very much calls a day it was very frustrating to have that delay of 6-10 seconds...
Greetz
@Karhoe: I'm downloading the file I posted in the first post. That supppose to be the world wide english (WWE) version. What I'm trying to ask is that ROM only contain the OS, not the radio stack or IPL and other stuff? I just want it to return to the original wm5 OS while keeping other settings.
@bipinsen: Thanks for that. I got myself a iPhone and selling the SP5. I think it's better to sell with the original OS as there is more resources out there.
Basically most of the AKU2 ROMS contain a whole new IPL and radio stack I think, why don't you check with typhoonnbftool ?

Oooohhhh.. Now I'm envious!
I should think that selling it with WM6 should get you more buyers.
I look on Craigslist and rarely see WM6 phones. Annoys me. Part of why I chose HTC because I new I could buy it cheaper and upgrade it myself.
Just to update anyone who is interested I have downgraded using the ROM i mentioned in the first post. It was pretty straight forward; just have to run the installer.
@Exitao: I agree, but the buyer is more likely to find bugs in unsupported ROM. Now I have been using the wm5 ROM for few hours I notice how sluggish the official ROM is. Maybe I will give the buyer option to upgrade into the new ROM.
WM5 was always buggy, but so was WinCE3.0. Well, it is an MS product after all. They never got rid of the bugs, they just "upgraded" the OS.
Guys
I have been using Duttys Roms since I got my Kaiser but have been unlucky with the last one.
So I thought I would try another but can't find a newish one where UK people have been posting.
So which Roms are Brits using ?

For Windows Mobile 6.1 features Sleuth 3.0 (WM6.1) Tried all other but don't have what I need and it's fairly fast! I'm on 3UK with Unlimited Internet and this is great for me.
diigibio
Another good one is sleuths 1.2 rom. very fast and efficient on battery compared to his v3.0
Does it matter between a UK rom and a WWE rom?
Mobile Vista

Check the Mobile Vista ROM by Confused Stu, I find it very good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371014
I have used Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 UC RTM full for a few weeks, and find it great, no issues, everything working out of the bag. Its missing voice dial which took a while to sort. Have also tried his 19716, but had a few issues like no mms.
Also i have used 3.02.405.0 (Radio 1.58.26.20) original WWE - it was fast but i had mms issues and did not bother trying to solve.
Next weekend i will flash NoThrills WM 6.1 WWE *English* V3 - The first ROM with the brand new OS build 19202! as it sounds good as well.
So far after every trial i end up going back to Dutty 19199 as it does everything i need and is very stable.
On Orange UK, slowly working through all the radios.
I'm on orange and am using qmobile 1.2.
Fast and stable. Not a whiff of any problems.

Also a serial flasher, but been on Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 for a few weeks. Tried pretty much all of them and in general usage they are all stable. I found Q-Mobile 1.2 to be very good and like Schaps too - but staying with Dutty's (although might upgrade to the 23rd March release......)
Sleuth's V3.0 6.1 ROM - no issues at all, very happy with it.
I'm also usint Stu's Vista 1.1 Very stable and loads of packaged apps and games.
At time of writing Im using "Dutty's WM6.1 Official UC 5.2.19199 RTM" Rom along with WM6.1 Radio ver. 1.64.08.21. Radio seems to perform great and in the last 2 weeks of runnig the radio i've had one lost signal, however I've put that down to the Orange network being rubbish.
and that was 2 minutes before the Scotland v England rugby game kicked off inside Murryfield Stadium??
I have just got a Vario III this week, upgrade from my Vario II and was thinking about looking at ROM and Radio upgrades; do any of these ROMs work with t-mobile's Sky by Mobile? Everytime I've tried a non-T-Mobile ROM I've lost the ability to access my Sky by Mobile account. It's beena while since I've tried to fix the problem, does anyone know if the settings have been worked out yet?
Cheers.
well what a choice!
I have just put confusedstu's vista 1.2 on and it seems pretty good but skype wont work. ( i only nee it for checking voicemails not for calling)
guess I should try DCS
Hy guys!
Yesterday I tried to install 2 different Manilla ROM's based on WM6.5! (Shifu_V13, Solace_V3.1) Everything worked great except the usability!
Is it possible that the TyTn2 is far too slow to handle Manilla/Wm6.5? Everything is dead slow, program loading/closing, Home.Screen.Scrolling is a lucky punch everytime. When I slide, I only see where I scrolled after loading menu, so no exact scrolling possible!
I already swapped to HTC_Original WM6.1 back, cause everything runs smooth and stable, except the new design, which i would appreciate even more!
Even the Booting is damn slow, stopped approximatly 2 minutes! The Wm6.1 is up in under a minute!
Are there any suggestions or do I have to buy me the HD Touch to experience Manilla/WM6.5?
best regards
Rekoo
Both ROMs you mention are 6.1 and way faster than stock ROMs so i'd say something else was the issue...........
Isn't this usually a matter of getting the right radio for your device?
From what I read is that speed issues are usually solved by trying out another radio.
Both are wm 6.1.
Why dont you try wm 6.5 roms from here...there are very great, fast, and smoothly roms, with chome and manila. (you have to discover the best spl/radio combo for you).
k, sorry my fault!
Is there a rule for the radio's, like the higher the number the better/faster they work? Or is it trail&error what works best with the device?
What are these POLARIS and NIKI Radio's?
Can I also use them or are they only for the newer devices like HD?

It is all trial and error different radio firmware works differently with different roms/spls/ and in different areas. Pick one that works for you.
Go to Ultimate radio thread and read, all radios there are compatible with Kaiser and 6.0 or 6.1 roms. The 6.1 rom radios appear to all be compatible with 6.5 roms.
Polaris and Niki are just the phones that the radios were ripped from.
You will want to post in they're threads regarding this issue and see what the chefs recommend instead of opening a new thread.
