UPDATE 2010-12-29
I've been told (and I have confirm it) that some of the Chefs have included my graphics in their WM6.1 and WM6.5 ROMs... I have nothing against anyone using my works, but since it takes much more time to create graphics for animated splash than it takes to cook any ROM (and I know, since I do both), my dear fellow Chefs: please have at least some decency and say at least simple "thank you" in your ROM's thread!
Thank you.
* * *----------------------------------------------------------------
I have been contacted by some about my "theory" (as someone put it nicely ) regarding fluid/continuus startup screens, as I have described HERE
It is described there and I can't explain it any better, sorry... and since pictures are worth 1000 words, I have made quick animation to show what I meant:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
created from actual files
all available in attachments
NOTE: The "public" version of splash obviously doesn't have any personal infos
What you see in the animation is exactly as I described:
1 ROM Splash screen, which I called "BIOS SPLASH". It is need to be loaded into the ROM, for download and see details HERE
This file "transforms" into
2 StartUp Animation screen - which is my version of animated.gif file you need to add to your \Windows folder on your Kaiser's Main Storage (not to \Windows on your SD Card if exists, not to \WINDOWS on your PC, or anywhere else )
This file "transform" next to
3 StartUp Splash which is my version of welcomehead.96.png file you need to add to your \Windows folder on your Kaiser's Main Storage (not to \Windows on your SD Card if exists...etc)
That's all.
The last screen of animation is Kaiser's ToDay screen with somebody's theme using Vista wallpaper (I added it just to end the animation with some actual ToDay screen to have it look like it would happen on actual phone).
You find attached below:
animated.gif
888-animated-BIOS2VistaWelcomehead96.zip two versions (choose shorter or longer version)
simulation above uses "longer" version, the "shorter" version has faster transformation from last "BIOS screen" into "Windows Mobile screen" (it just fade-in rapidly versus normal fading-in)
welcomehead96.png
888-welcomehead96-WM61-Vista.zip
You can and should edit it with i.e. your name or ROM version or anything you want to add there, it will be displayed for few seconds as last screen before ToDay loads
_StartUpSound.wav
888-StartUpSound-Vista....zip
/edited/
you can choose mono or stereo startup sound.
Mono is half the size of stereo sound (and honestly there is no need for stereo sound since Kaiser has only 1 mono speaker...). Both are working fine (tested on my Kaiser).
Just for the record: although Kaiser normally plays all wav files (8-bit, 22kHz, 32kHz, etc) it does NOT play them at startup! The 22kHz/8bit wav files were never played at startup, and for this reason I removed them.
If you downloaded sound files before, make sure you have the 44kHz/16bit files. Or just download them now again and replace them to be sure.
BIOS Splash
This is (--->GET IT HERE <---) is a ROM flashing utility needed to add first ROM boot splash.
Instructions
(for n00bs basically)
Extract all files.
Copy animated.gif, welcomehead.96.png and _StartUpSound.wav of your choice (if you want startup sound, if not - skip it) to your phone's Storage Card or My Documents or any other folder.
Use Total Commander to move (or copy) these files to your \Windows folder, overwriting any existing files (you may want to make their backup first if you want to keep them for later for any reason).
Use Schap's Advanced Configuration Utility to setup StartUpSound as boot playback.
Also make sure to set volume to 1 (by default it is set to 0, and that means maximum volume, your startup sound will sound like one loud noise if you don't change volume a notch down - which is 1).
Extract Kaiser_SPLASH_BIOS_080818r_Generic.zip to a folder of your choice on your computer (Desktop is fine).
Make sure your phone is connected to your PC, ActiveSync is "green" etc etc and run the KaiserCustomRUU.exe (just READ and follow the instruction it shows on screen). You are flashing your existing ROM on your Kaiser/Tilt with new BIOS Splash screen only (not with any new ROM, even though it may look like it), but very same precautions as with flashing any ROM applies! Don't do it if youre not sure what are you doing, what is it or if you are clueless. DON'T. I warned you. If you brick your phone don't message me, I just told you NOT TO DO IT
Well, that's all.
Enjoy.

Your welcome, my friend.
Splash screen owner info
nevermind... i found what i need
Awesome work Triple 8!!!!
I can't get the startup sound to work properly. If I set the volume to 0, i can hear the "noise" but when i set the volume to 1, no sound at all. I've tried both sound files you gave us. What am i doing wrong? thanks!

I guess you were inquiring about personal info in teh splash sequence.
Seems like you've figured it out but nevertheless, maybe somebody else will need this info:
Simulation shows my personal BIOS Splash with *my* info, but the one available for download is "generic" and of course doesn't have my info there.
So I gave you "blank" welcomehead.96 to edit instead - add *your own* personal info there (as it show in the simulation too), its very simple to do, no special tools needed even primitive Paint.exe on windoze can do it.
Ultimately, if you want your personal info to be exactly there where mine is in the simulation, you can extract the BIOS Splash bitmap from my .nbh, edit it with your own info (I used windoze's standard system font), and pack it up back.

Thank you, my friend.
Thats strange.
If you have the distorted noise when it is set to 0 then it should play nicely - albeit a bit quietly - when set to 1.
In attachments I posted before startup wave files that were made smaller in size but using 8bit instead of 16bit.
I didn't have my TyTN with me at work and I wasn't sure can they be played, when I got home I found they weren't playing at all and I removed them since. Make sure you are not using one of them. If you don't know which one you have there, just delete StartUpSound in your \Windows folder and download 888-StartUpSound-VistaORIGINAL-44kHz16bitStereo.zip from 1st post, it works for sure as Im using it on my Kaiser.
i have one question about the first splash screen (haven't flashed it yet, so wouldn't know the answer). in the preview, it shows the radio, protocol, etc. in red, but usually there are corresponding letters to the left of these (like R: blahblahblah). did you somehow manage to hide these?

No, its just the simulation.
If I could manage to hide the R/D/G, I would have hide all of them

I tryed to extrast the file with the "NBHTool 1.1", didn't work .
Can you please post your bitmap file? (without your personal info )

Thanks, attachments wasn't working for me probably because I had some problems with javascript on my browser.
Now it's better
Thanks for this great app!
The ability to play multiple simultaneous sounds is a must have feature.
On my unmodified HTC Incredible running 2.2 the text is larger than the horizontal bar it is supposed to fit in, so the bottom of the text gets cut off. Or maybe the horizontal area is too small vertically.

Row had accidentally fixed height. Also noticed that board got unreadable when using line break.
Thanks
Doing some relatively bad thread necroing here, but I don't know that I want to create a whole new thread just for a suggestion or two...
A couple bugs (at least on my Samsung Galaxy S running stock Eclair):
When the screen shuts off from idling and you have a graphical soundboard open, the app crashes. This also happens if you lock the screen by way of the power button. This happened with the graphical Soundboard I was working with, as well as with a brand new, freshly created graphical soundboard (no sounds added, completely default settings). This does not seem to happen with a List-style Soundboard, or when you're up one level looking at the list of soundboards you've created.
When selecting files for either new sounds or for the graphics of those sounds, the font is too large for the row height and gets cut off at the bottom of any text. It's not unreadable, but the individual rows are hard to select. In actuality, the font size is probably okay, and the row height just needs to be increased.
Some suggestions:
In a Graphical soundboard, have an auto-align function like the main app window; something where you can set up how many rows and columns you want, and then arrange the sounds by that layout, in a grid-style layout.
Options for both Auto-arrange and manual arrange of the above function.
Create new graphical soundboard objects in a fresh space away from other items, so you're not creating new ones on top of each other. Possibly requires auto-arrange to be turned on.
Allow a default setting for the Name, Image, and Sound settings for a particular Soundboard so you don't have to set each one every time you make a new soundboard item.
I just want to say how AWESOME this app is. It lets me create EXACTLY the kind of soundboard I want, with a background pic, images for each sound, individual volume settings, you can play sounds overlapping or choose not to... It's GREAT! ...I just wish it was a bit easier to create multiple soundboard objects, and didn't crash from graphical soundboards. XD
Hope this is helpful!
It's not necroing. This thread is alive as long as I am developing this app. I'm developing this app until I state that I am not developing this app (on this thread).
Also please don't expect me to update this app if there are no suggestions or bug reports.
All posts to this thread are most welcome.

This is exactly why there are "Duplicate sound" feature on sound options. If you are sure that this feature doesn't fit your purposes please inform me and I will consider making "default sound" feature.
Notice that duplicating sound makes it exact duplicate, so you may not notice that there are two sounds one on top of the other.
I have both bugs fixed by now. I will get back to your other suggestions when I have more time. I will be updating my application asap.

I think that particular one was just a "User Education" issue. XD I haven't tried seriously playing around with it yet since I'm at work (and already spent enough time the other day messing with it while at work, LOL), but even so.
For me anyway, my suggestions were just things I felt would make the experience even better, but since it's already GREAT, they're just kinda "meh, whenever you get to them." Very happy to see 1.07 so quickly though to fix the issues, I'm just beaming now, this app is entirely too awesome.

Well I appreciate your suggestions (and bug reports too) since I have ran out of ideas what I should add. Sure I could figure something out if I really tried but I'm not sure if that would make this app better or worse.

Make sure to read "Sharing board" topics on help.
It can not be uploaded to the market.
To share your board on internet I would suggest you to make it zip file on computer or on your Android device.
(Make sure to zip folder named as your board, not content of it, to make this simpler for receivers.)
You can upload it to Dropbox (you can use Get Shareable Link feature), Multiupload or similar file sharing services.
You can also send it directly to friend using MSN etc.
If you are sure everything on it is 100% legal, you can post it here and ask me to include it on 1st post. (I will upload it to my server if I accept it.)
Mikuz,
This is a great app...really like it.
You asked for suggestions, so here are a few:
Include the ability to pause or stop a sound by touching the sound a second time, instead of having to hit settings, then pause.
Include the ability to create a "stop all sounds" button.
Include the ability to have different images for each state of the sound (stopped or idle, playing, paused)
Include ability to set additional sound preferences per soundboard (like a preference to pause/play on corresponding clicks, or stop sound on second click)
Anyway, thanks again for this cool app...I really, really, really like that I can use it to play entire songs, and not just tiny files.
Welcome to xda-developers wagman67 as well as shatdat7 whose post count I forgot to check

I think you mean like a normal sound but it would stop/pause all playing sounds. Good idea.
Hi there, I was looking for an App like this a long time and now finally found yours meeting most of my need, so thanks a lot!
I played with it a little yesterday and came up with some ideas I would like to mention here in case it could be easily implemented.
First I was wondering if the already existing Dropbox-Implementation could be used for importing sound and images as well. Now I would put sounds into Dropbox, open Dropbox on Android, chose what I want dowloaded for the Soundboard, switch back to the Soundboard and then for each file click through to the Dropbox-Folder to add it... Using the internal Dropbox-connection this could be done much easier and faster... (Or am I missing something already there?)
Second about importing Images: I would like a button to automatically set the size to the original dimensions of the image instead of having to tap these in manually...
I was very happy to find, that I could switch to landscape, as I use a tablet that is not very nice to handle in portrait-mode... Really nice App
Ah, and are there any Soundboards shared by users yet?
Sorry it took some time to answer but I'm quite busy and probably won't develop until january. (Though you never know if I get excited enought about it.)
If you want to copy a file to a board using the current Dropbox implementation in the UnlimitedSb then you should: upload a board to the Dropbox, copy a file to the board's Dropbox folder and then download the board from the Dropbox.
The current implementation is ment to have a copy of a board in the Dropbox. Copying a file is possible but not handy.
Browsing the files in the Dropbox to copy a file to a board folder is an interesting idea. I don't use the official Dropbox app much but I think that it should be able to handle the same thing decently.
I will see what I can do when I have the time. I should also see if I can improve the Dropbox support at some point. I wasn't able to do everything I wanted since I was using an early version of the Dropbox client.
Nope, haven't heard of any publicly shared boards yet.
Good news soundboard enthusiastics, there's a huge udate coming!
I will rebrand this app since Android 4 will be required and the update will really impove this app and make it more useful.
It will take some time until it can be released. I feel like I should release it already since it's so much better than the current version but I really need to make the experience complete for a good new start.
You will notice when the new version is out if you take a look at the 1. post. Now let's all make sure we got some sandwitch prepared on our desks.
PS. If you figure out a good name for a soundboard app you can PM or email me. Just make sure it's something rather under 10 than 20

This is made easier in Boarder. You can put a sound to Apps/Boarder/<board name> directory in Dropbox and then download it using Dropbox implementation for Boarder.
In Unlimited Soundboards everything that doesn't exist in board directory in Dropbox would be removed in download operation. This is optional in Boarder and there will be dialog promoting the cleaning operation.

Not sure If you refer to the last value of dimensions or bitmap size as the original dimensions.
However, I changed the values above text fields to represent the original size of the bitmap. I added a button after the fields for reverting the size to what it was when the dialog was opened.
This change will be included in following releases of Boarder.

I'm planning to make it possible to choose hybrid mode (portrait and landscape). Hybrid board would react to changing the orientation of your device in listening mode.
Landscape and portrait would, however, be completely separated and only share the same board folder and listening session. This means both must be maintained by their own. There could be feature for copying sounds from orientation to other, making maintaining a bit easier.

Looking for someone to do a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy boot animation. I've searched the threads and only found themes/wallpapers.
Here is a link of what I want or something similar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVBRk6Tktls
Starting from around the 39 second mark till the about the 55 second mark. I'm not big on the thumb up logo "fading away" into that portal part that is "O' of the word "to" that it goes into, so if someone could do it that where it just "stops" when the logo comes into full effect and maybe backs out just a bit in the video before the "portal" comes around it..that'd be cool.
I will be honest, I don't have a ton of money to donate, enough to get you a beer or so ($5 or so).
Anyhow thought the video would be a perfect idea. has the whole "loading this entry" thing at the begging which is pretty neat. I will now shut up and thank you to anyone willing to give this a shot.
I would love to see this
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would also love to have this. but I vote from 0:39 to 1:07.
I also have made a couple of hitchhiker's guide walls, splash screens and lockscreens. a boot animation would just be awesome!
Hitchhikers Boot Animation
Heres my attempt at making the boot screen, no donation necessary. It should be about the 39 sec to 55 ish mark.
To keep the file size down, I ended up using about 1 out of every 4 frames from that portion of the video. (while trying to compile the images in Photoshop I ran out of memory several times initially due to the file size, lol) I also left it in portrait mode, but expanded the video anywhere i could to use more of the screen real estate. I personally think it goes well with the overall feel of the video anyways.
Here is a preview: (the actual boot screen doesn't run quite as fast as this gif example, i believe it should run at about the same speed as the youtube video.

Just rename the file to bootanimation.zip and move or push it to the system/customize/resource, system/media, data/system/theme1/boot, or wherever your current bootanimation.zip is stored. I tested it on my Evo and it runs fine.
Let me know if it works and what you think!
**EDIT**
Ok, I've uploaded four versions of the boot animation:
One that loops continuously until the phone boots with Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" at the end (like in image above),
One that plays all the way through and remains on the last screenshot where it says "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"
One that loops continuously until phone boots without "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" at the end.
One that plays all the way through and remains on a black screen until the phone boots.
There are also two android_audio.mp3 files (must unzip before moving to appropriate location) depending on the boot animation you want to use.
The short one stops any sound completely prior to the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" displays at end.
The long one fades out until the phone boots with "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" at the end.
So in essence I recommend: The long sound is for number 2 above, and the short sound is for any of the other 3.
So I've left it up to you. Just unzip, then place the android_audio.mp3 in the same folder as the bootanimation.zip and you should be good to go. Also, depending on the rom you are using, you may have better luck changing android_audio.mp3 to SPC_final_animation.mp3.
CyanogenMod users (like myself) will want to follow the instructions here:

Ok I was successfully able to get a boot animation with sound to work, which I'll add to my ealier post. On CyanogenMod7, you need to enable the boot animation sound first, which I followed in this thread. As the zip file they have in that thread is designed for a G2 (Vision), there is some modifications to get it to work. Which amazinglarry311 was kind enough to explain here.

I did come across that initially, but I was skeptical at first on using it as it looks like its for the G2 and Desire Z. Performed a nandroid and flashed the file, and i recieved the following error, which I did also post in the thread you mentioned:

looks awesome. At first I wasn't big on the whole "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" text at the end (like I put in the OP) but I think I can deal with it. Kinda makes it pretty neat honestly.
Only issue I have, using a Sense ROM (Kings Unleashed) I unzipped the android_audio.mp3, put in the same place at the bootanimation.zip (system/customize/resources), not getting any sound. I'm not using the looped version, I'm using the non-loop version.

I would try moving both into the system/media folder, and leaving the system/customize/resource folder empty. The phone should then look in the system/media folder for both. If that does not work, you could also try naming the boot sound to: SPC_animation_final.mp3. I just mention this because I saw this post, and it couldn't hurt. I'm fairly new at creating the boot animations, and I honestly haven't used sense since I got the Evo when it came out. Let me know if that helps. Also, I updated my original post to remove the "Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" version, and adding a longer boot sound if you so choose to leave it in.
the SPC_final_animation worked for it
Thanks ahavens17 for taking time out of your day to do this and without asking for a donation. I wish you the best of luck as you continue developing your skills with all of this. Great job.

No problem at all, happy to do it. I'm glad the SPC_final_animation.mp3 worked. I'll add that to my ealier post as well.
Thanks ahavens17, love the concept, in case you can't tell from my name and avatar.
When I installed, the images displayed diagonal on my droid (very strange, never seen that before). I had to do some image scaling to get it to work, and ended up making my own version while I was at it. I trimmed the opening a bit, removed the ending, added a few frames with 'Mostly Harmless' in them, and cleaned up the text file since I didn't include sound. I also packed it in a morph that installs the bootanimation.zip in /data/local.
HitchhikerBootHdpiMorph.zip
I resized the .gif, text is clearer in the animation.
Thanks to a few posts on the forums (credit to fone-fanatic and jschmier) I've managed to create a few basic boot animations which I'll share here.
You do NOT need to be rooted for the ADB method. If you are sending back your device under warranty remember to remove the custom boot animation before you do. Code is below, showing you how. It doesn't interfere with anything else on your TF. It doesn't even overwrite the original file so you can roll-back any time you like.
_______________
How to install:
Download the file of your choice. Rename the file to 'bootanimation.zip'. Do not extract the files contents, leave it alone. Then follow the guide below.
Via Asus USB data cable (Does not require root):
Use ADB. Guide HERE. Copy the file to: C:/Users/(your username here). Type 'cmd' in the windows start box (in Windows 7 and Vista), or start menu>run then type cmd and hit enter (XP users). A dos emulator console box should pop up. If it isn't already at C:/Users/(your username here) then navigate to the folder containing the "bootanimation.zip" in the command prompt.
To check your device is connected type:
Code:
adb devices
If it's not, you need to follow the guide linked above to install the usb drivers.
-----
To add an animation type:
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
To test that it's installed correctly type:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
And it should show the animation on the TF screen. Press ctrl+c to stop the animation.
To remove the boot animation and restore your unit to stock, type in:
Code:
adb shell rm /data/local/bootanimation.zip
-----
Via a file explorer app (Requires root):
Copy 'bootanimation.zip' onto a memory card. On your TF open the file explorer app of your choice (any app that allows you to copy and paste to the internal memory, "Root Explorer" is a useful app). Copy 'bootanimation.zip' and paste it to /Data/Local. If the folder doesn't exist, create it.
Via Dropbox and terminal emulator (May require root):
Follow the guide in this post HERE.
_____________
N.B. It seems that no matter what settings I use to make the files, on first playback the animation lags. After the first animation cycle it should run smooth once the files are cached though. It will do this each bootup unfortunately. It even does it with the official files so I guess it's just a hardware problem.

(The animation speeds of the preview gif files are not representative of the final files in the zip's. They are for reference only)
***A lot of these files may be down as the file hosting sites remove the files after 1-2 weeks of no activity nowadays which is useless. Once links are dead, they're dead... sorry. I've wasted wayyy too much time uploading and relinking them now.

Or if you don't like that idea then please consider donating to The Red Cross, as they certainly deserve it a lot more than I do.

Thanks for that. I have downloaded the files but cannot find data\local on my tf.
I have data folder but there is no "local" folder in it. I have looked in system folder and I have no hidden files.....
Did you try creating a folder to put the files in it? I think you have to create it to get it to work. I tested them all via the ADB method so not sure about the file manager way tbh.
Thanks for putting these out - the effort is appreciated!
Had a suggestion if I may? Either a blue Transformer symbol with the exploding effect, or the Transformer symbol with the glowing chrome effect of the stock Android bootscreen - the one with the word "Android" across the middle of the screen....

Thanks a lot for that! Saw that one in the OP and thought it looked pretty cool. Will definitely give it a try..
EDIT: So, tried out the Decepticon zoom one, but it seemed to run very choppily, despite several reboots. Do appreciate you taking the time though. I liked the explode one, but not a fan of green. Tried recolouring to blue, but my resulting boot anim seems to run at twice the speed of the original. Not sure what I did wrong. Have attached it, maybe you could try it out, see what I messed up? Also, did you use separate layers for that one? If so, do you have just the exploding effect .pngs without the word "Asus" - would be cool to add different text there....
"Transformer" animation
stuntdouble nice work, thanx for sharing!
i have a few questions, if i may?
what do you use to create the png's, photoshop?
how long did it take you to make "android" animation?
would you be able to make one like "android" but with "transformer" instead?
also, how hard would it be to make an animation like the title of the "Transformers" movie? (or something similar to it)
you can see it in some trailers on YouTube, you know the letters transforming into the final title.
look at the 2nd vid from the top on this page (titled "WATCHPREVIEW"):

I've started using Adobe After Effects so I'm just practising the basics at the moment. It can export a series of png's which is handy. It took about an hour to make the 'android' logo from scratch. Sorry but I don't really want to repeat the same stuff over and over as I'm trying to learn new things in the program.
That 'transformers' title logo sequence looks quite cool. I'll try make an 'android' version of that some time.

It usually lags the first time it tries to play the file, on every boot, as it caches the info to ram. My animated gif speeds are normally different from the resulting file, as they are just an example of what the animation looks like, not of the speed as well. If you want yours to run faster or slower then you can change the frames per second figure in the desc.txt file from 20 to something else. A lower number plays it slower and a higher number plays it faster. On the flip side however you have to be careful, because if you increase it too much it will lag a lot. This depends on the filesize of the individual images.
I'll pm you a link to the file and you can play around with it as much as you want.

No problem. Just halve the fps in the desc.txt file then, and re-package into a zip file.
You might consider optimizing the PNG images used in the animations. I don't know enough about the algorithms to know how it impacts rendering, but there is typically a decrease in the overall size of the boot animation. For example, optimizing the PNG images in the exploding ASUS logo animation (explode.zip) via rOptiPng (roptipng -o7 **/*.png) resulted in a ~10.5% (760 KB) size decrease.
Before I begin I'd like to say thanks to Lostsorrow for his introduction into Android Boot Animation graphics. Now, I've been working on Boot Animations lately, and so far I've come up with two device-specific animations that look great on the MT4GS.

I've done a couple custom bootanims for my G1 back on like Cupcake, but the format changed a few times and I lost track. This is pretty cool though... I love throwback stuff... And I never'd have thought of a BIOS ... cool!
I would have two humble requests....
1) If you're going to have a throwback to PC bootup, perhaps an OS "scrolling progressbar" style logo after the BIOS bit in lieu of the pulsing MT4GS text (something like what Windows does, and admittedly I haven't watched a Mac boot up in a while, and Linux style bootup can be had with logcat live from Market). Maybe a throwback Andy, but without the whole circle animating like previous CMs... just a Windows style progress bar under it
2) Can a landscape version be made?
But even still, cool as it is now! Thanks!
That's a great idea!
I'll come up with an OS scrolling style progress bar or something similar soon, I'll try to make something original (or let me know if you want the plain windows one instead, whatever looks better.)
I've never seen a landscape BIOS boot animation for Android before, I'll look forward into making one, it's definitely possible and shouldn't be too difficult since I already have all the resources.
I'm also going to update the graphics in BIOS boot, and make the letters a bit sharper
nice really like this reminds me of old school Dos 6.22

A "Loading" like feature has been added on the extras, let me know if you prefer the old windows slider look.
I'm still looking into the landscape version.
Also, if anyone has an interesting concept for a boot animation, let me know!
Thanks for these. I've always liked the BIOS boot animation, and the cm9 touch at the end is slick.

whoa! those are awesome! you can use mine old ones if you want lol! nice work though, seriously!
Could you make a bios bootanimation (the first one) compatible with stock roms? I am running Bulletproof. Also is it possible to make it so it doesn't say CM9, since I am on Bulletproof. If this is too much to ask, I understand. These are great, thanks for the work!
Thanks for the feedback guys!
I'm currently uploading a landscape version, and a version that should work with stock. (untested)
also, I updated the BIOS animation to make it look a bit nicer.
Thanks for this! I like v1.1! Looking forward to the landscape version.
Question: even though it's obviously mt4gs could this possibly work on other hardware that's running cm9? The file format should be the same across devices and this would make it appropriate for tablets as well, being landscape.

I did this boot animation on the G2. If audio works for boot animations on the MT4GS, this would be fun to show off.

I liked the CM9 loop at the end too, I had the idea in my head and BAM there it was. Anyhow, the stock version has the same loop except that it doesn't include the "CM9" branding, adding that to the OP now, lol!

Thanks for this! I like v1.1! Looking forward to the landscape version.
Question: even though it's obviously mt4gs could this possibly work on other hardware that's running cm9? The file format should be the same across devices and this would make it appropriate for tablets as well, being landscape.

I have a TF201 Transformer Prime and I was considering making a BIOS animation for my tablet as well, it'll look super nice.
Also, I uploaded the landscape version and bumped the version number to 2.0 (the second screen looks a bit cleaner now.) This boot animation should work on any device that's running an AOSP-based ROM (correct me if I'm wrong) since the location of the bootanimation is defaulted to system/media. The only thing that might not work is the Flashable due to the fact that different devices may have different mount points.
The resolution is 480x800 for the portrait one, and 800x480 for the landscape one. A device with a lower resolution might struggle displaying the images, a device with the same resolution would do just fine (but remember, it's MT4GS branded.) And a device with a higher resolution would probably play it smoothly, but it'll look a bit ugly, small, or stretched.
Anyways, thanks for the awesome feedback!

Sweet! I'm going to try to get it running with Audio, I'll let you know if I figure it out ( I haven't seen a boot animation with audio on the doubleshot before.) I believe enabling boot audio is ROM-Specific, I'll look into it.

audio in bootanimations will work for cm9 and aokp as long as you put them in system/media and name them android_audio.mp3
Thanks! I can't wait to start messing with these: http://www.soundjay.com/ :good:

This reminds me...
I had one with audio for my G1, where it had green text appear on the black background one character at a time, but fast. With each character was a little beep. It was similar to the techie computer text effect that Hollywood loved so much in the 80s and 90s.
The text was like "owner info" mixed with "in case of emergency" but the trick was getting the audio to sync with the characters. I never quite got it to match up. In the end, I gave up on sync and just made a generic sound at about the right time, and later it occurred to me that the bootup was never the exact same one time to the next. Near the end of the anim, the audio was always quite noticeably out of sync.
I wasted days on that project. The concept is simple but it is so much work!

That concept sounds amazing, if me or anyone could get that to work that would be sick. The problem is, some ROMs boot faster than others, and a Hot Boot is about a quarter faster than a regular reboot. A working, but boring solution, would be to make a boot animation where the cursor is constantly moving so that Audio would always match no matter what.

Thanks for the feedback! suggestions are always welcome too.
I would say this is my best attempt at a Black mod of the stock default BootLogo.
I tried a huge amount of logo's and colors and effects but i was going for a simple style.
I re-created every single image in intense detail.
I also will start calling these a Boot "Theme"
This is a package made up of not just the Boot-Logo but ALL the Bootloader's 27 images.
So in reality it's far more of a theme than just a Logo.
I started doing this because i noticed a sloppy lame effort by Motorola on the default Logo.bin
I think my "themed" BootLogo came out looking a LOT better.
FEATURES:
- 5 separate flashable Boot Logo Sets (all using the same Menu Buttons)
- High Resolution.. Images @ 245 DPI (DPI of the Moto-E ?) Logo sourced from High Res 1600x1600.
- Smallest File Size.. I was aiming for performance + quality (This is far smaller than the default Logo.bin)
- Tested.. Charging etc + Flashing via TWRP & ADB/PC on Marshmallow & Lollipop.
- Simple Style.. Boot Logo Text "Android" dropped / removed. (just because)
- Unlocked Boot Logo.. Same Logo for Locked or Unlocked Bootloaders (Unlock Warning Removed)
- New Bootloader Buttons.. Colors were chosen carefully to make navigation more intuitive.
- Bootloader Button Text.. Changed the Menu Options Text to be shorter and more descriptive.
- Optimized Graphics.. Flat PNG's made with Adobe Fireworks (32bit, 245DPI) + cut away unneeded space.
- Cleaned up.. Removed the 3 Charging Images because they are never used (replaced with 1 pixel images)
- Improved Arrow Buttons.. Fixed alignment and created new images with a gradient effect (Wingdings3 font)
- Improved Menu Text.. Used much larger font size to make it easier to read (Droid Sans)
- Droid_Operation.. Android Robot on Bootloader was made larger and centered and a bit darker.
- Flashable Zip Format.. Or if you want to use ADB/PC to flash it just extract the Logo.bin from the zip file.
- Supported Systems.. Android 5.0, 5.1, 5.1.1 & 6.0
Note: I used the update-binary from inside the MotoBootLogoMaker Program + my own Update Script.
So comments / suggestions are welcome..
I did already make a few variations such as a Blue Sky with some clouds glass effect Logo.
I may share that one too later but i wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions or requests.
Note: I originally did this Logo Dark-Grey but felt the Blue color was a bit better.
I also did a Logo that matched the original shade of blue (all with black backgrounds)
And yeah i have seen others do it already.. but they usually do a sloppy job of it.
I also wanted to share this thinking some people may want it simply to use the Buttons etc.
So people feel free to take my Logo.bin and put your own Logo-Picture in and share it etc.

EXPECT MORE !
I am reserving this spot for a couple of the variations i made.
(most of the work is already done)
PS:
Expect more = i mean, Expect more from us who make & share things.. don't settle for sloppy crap
EDIT:
Here is a variation i was going to add.. Same logo as what i already uploaded but i put some effects on it.
So do you people think it's better with or with out the Text (new or old font?) sometimes i like all 3.
Anyway, does this one look interesting?
Other Logo suggestions etc ?

Well since i edited my last comment i went and threw together + Tested another Logo quick..
It's the same as the first one but a different Main Logo. (download = post attachment)
MotoBlack v2.1 "DarkFeather"
Same as first one just a new main Logo..
MotoBlack v2.2 "VerticalLines"
Last one for a while
This one is the same but a new Logo featuring India.
MotoBlack v2.3 "Earth"

love it! see if u can silhouette a face or a canadian leaf(flag?) in the reflection!
@lenigma1too
Not a bad suggestion.
I imported a bunch of different CAN flags into the PhotoShop Plugin i am using on Fireworks
(Custom Reflection Maps) combined with the Alien Skin Glass effect but sadly it just wasn't working too good
I may have a another go at it to see if i can get something though.
I just wanted to acknowledge your suggestion and let you know i did look into it.
It did give me some ideas and experimenting is good so it wasn't a loss.
Feedback is welcome guys and do whatever you want with these i shared.

Thanks i hope you guys like the Bootloader Menu buttons i took a long time on those.
If someone wanted them i can share the editable PNG's i used to make them.
I created one file with all options inside it..
I also have been using the DarkFeather one for myself ever since.
One thing i noticed is there is a difference in brightness between my phone and my PC.
So i sometimes i quickly go back and adjust the brightness to make the Logo way darker.
The Boot screen tends to make true black super bright

I'm actually scared to try this because, the boot menu buttons are different in my phone.. I think it's because I've an older bootloader? So This theme " might" mess up my bootloader.. So can you just send the logo.bin file for those 2 themes? Thanks in advance

Quality workmanship... Lenotorola should b embarrassed!
Yeah dude, super impressed. As I stated before I have three of these phones, and I enjoyed your bootloader theme so much it's now on all three of them! Two of them are daily drivers, & third one is my ROM/App tester, as it has a small crack in the screen, thus ->> not a daily driver. Out of all the logo.bins' ive flashed, and mods installed, & Everything I've ever loaded, yours are by far the most detailed and beautifully constructed visuals I've ever had! And the details with the bootloader images & the buttons/keys & the front? Better than icing on the cake, it's like butter icing in a spoon (if that could be any better?!? Lolz!) Come to think of it, I think I've only ever encountered one other flash that change the font. Never mind changing all 27 images, centering them and graphic resizing them so it looks appropriate and proportional!
My hat goes off to you sir!
Its such a quality job, rest assured they will be on every Moto E 2nd edition I ever own, I ever fixed, or repair...
I somehow end up doing a lot of those last two things
@ lenigma1too
Thanks for the kind words
I did this for myself like i was saying when i seen how sloppy the default Moto buttons were.
It would be easy for me to make the txt in the menu items like the original bootloader (if you all want)
And yeah the TXT alignment was irritating the hell out of me on the original menu items.
They would jump around all over LOL
And to the other guy i have no reason to believe it would be a problem on your phone.
All these do is change the pictures.. that is it.
It does nothing else like modifying the Bootloader or changing fonts etc.
And i have been downloading and comparing Firmware packages since 5.0
And the stock Logo.bin from Motorola has never changed.
For example..
XT1527_SURNIA_RETCA_5.0.2_LXI22.50-53.8_cid14_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
MD5: af89b4f5f32b6a16e6b8611e5b7051e0
XT1527_SURNIA_RETUS_5.1_LPI23.29-18.9_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
MD5: af89b4f5f32b6a16e6b8611e5b7051e0
XT1527_SURNIA_RETCA_6.0_MPI24.65-39_cid14_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
MD5: af89b4f5f32b6a16e6b8611e5b7051e0
And MANY more i tested.. ALL them exact same !
One thing i did notice i think though is on Lollipop Bootloaders
the entry for WIFI Flash would show up and can be seen..
But On Marshmallow Bootloaders it's now gone.
It's the Bootloader that controls that stuff.. it decides.
I do not think WIFI Flash was ever implemented for real.
It was a beta feature in the works i seen after googling it recently back on Lollipop.
Which seems to be removed from Marshmallow (at least the visible text / menu entry anyway)
So guy..
I said in the first post either flash it with TWRP etc
OR.. just extract the Logo.bin file from the zip file and use ADB to flash it.
And if anyone is curious what is inside them just download "MotorolaBootLogoMaker"
then open the Logo.bin i shared and browse to see all the images. (or add you own instead etc)
Flashable zip files are just normal zip files guys.
So there is no point in me uploading the theme logo 2 times.
Also i had debated on sharing a different version of the planet one.
I had originally made it all blue using a color filter effect but i opted to share the full color one even though both looked good.
The other major reason i did these was the Bootloader menu options were so hard to read.
I wanted to make the text on the menu options way bigger.
I flashed it and man it looks so damn cool! Thanks @xpmule . Btw is there a way to freeze the phone at the bootlogo for a longer time so i can look it the cool logo ? Hehe
Edit:
This theme is so good it makes me want a special bootanimation.. Something like the Earth bootlogo, but the earth spins and u can see the cool lights as night approaches in different countries :silly::silly:
I do not think you can stop it..
Thanks for the feedback too
I also had thought of making an animated Bootlogo to go with these too.
To start a black background conversion of the original Animation
and then a couple variations too.
But i had issues with the tools and then keep forgetting.
One issue is most Logos's and animations are image based,
so if i took one of them and modded it i have to covert it to a video so i started looking into that
I know i can probably use ffmpeg via commandline but i wanted a program with a GUI (i found one)
SO there is more to come
It would make more sense to be calling it a Boot theme if included an Animation also.
i really just wanted a mod of the original one with black-backgrounds to make it easier on my eyes.
That is the main point here for all this..
In case you guys didn't know you can use ANY video as a Bootloader-Animation.
So the options are limitless. (You can also convert animated images into videos too)
But be careful installing the old style Moto v1 BootAnimations some of them may brick your phone.
*Some* of the older more common animated JPEG sets seem to work and other trap your phone into a bootloop
I know i did it myself LOL
What i did was get a BootAnimation zip that had inside it jpeg's (it was an official Moto one untouched with same 540x960)
But it got part way through then locked up.. my phone could not boot afterwards and i had to restore from a back-up.
You can tell them apart by opening any BootAnimation.zip file
then checking if you see a ton of jpeg's or 2 mp4 files (mp4 = new version on Moto E 2015)
The first mp4 is a short clip meant to play once then the 2nd super short one is meant to loop / repeat.
This make it last longer if the Booting takes longer than normal etc. (so the video animation can vary in length dynamically)
Lastly i did some digging and i got the Encoder settings for the official Motorola Boot Animations
And then i created a profile for the x264 encoder on Avidemux (to create video's exactly like the originals)
Blah blah blah
Point is i will work up some more stuff to share soon i think LOL
Menu Buttons Source
So i zipped up the source to the buttons and added them here as an attachment.
This includes the Font i used and the editable PNG and a note text file.
The text file lists the original + changed colors and names.
The font.zip has all Droid fonts but i only used "Droid Sans regular" 40 point (and Wingdings 3 default on Win7)
Note: the PNG has the two little arrows "grouped" together. (right click them and select un-group in Fireworks)
Only 1 text entry and arrow set should be visible then save..
Then on next button hide those and make 2 other ones visible and save again.
Then put them in MotoBootLogoMaker.. save, flash & boot
I have lots of weird fonts.. i could do the buttons in Klingon if needed but i was going for "normal" LOL
The point to this was i was just trying to make the menu buttons easier to read and maybe look a bit nicer.
But if anyone wants what i used to make their own mod feel free to do what ever you all want with this stuff.
Fonts included their respective license files (Apache)
Here is another another one just a different main logo.
This is the default Marshmallow BootLogo converted to a Black background.
It has a nice smooth result because i used a color filter to flip Black/White while keeping Color.
I also upped the DPI to 245 (from 72)
Couple quick notes..
First the original png can only be found inside the bootanimation.zip listed as SOL.png
If you go get the same picture from the stock Logo.bin it will be the old version
as seen on Lollipop Firmware's and on Current Marshmallow Firmware's.
Why care?
Because it's different.
It has subtle textures applied to it and a slightly different color of Blue.
It also matches the BootAnimation "Stitches" for Marshmallow by Motorola.
And yes i have started working on converting the animation to go with this too.
But it's a LOT of work !
I have made a test so far and the result is the video encoder i used is making the black a bit too bright.
And because of the background now being black the texture flickering is far more noticeable
then it is on the stock white one from Moto.
So i am not sure how the "Stitches" animation converted to Black is going to work out.
I guess i will finish making it soon and upload it and you all can decide..
In the meantime i uploaded here the Boot LOGO part as an attachment.. flashable.zip / tested
(hopefully you guys got what i meant by all this rambling)
EDIT:
Added the test MP4 video i was talking about earlier as a zipped attachment.
It's the 2nd part of the default MM animation with a Black background conversion.
You can all probably see how the Texture flickers and is noticeable in Black.
PS:
Let me know if these pictures are killing your browser.
I can re-size them smaller if they are too much..
EDIT2: "stitches update"
I changed tools and got a better more exact result using FFMPEG.exe
So far i completed the 2nd 4 second clip matching the encoder settings 99.99 exact as the original.
The next one is 14 seconds long so will be more work / time.
What i had to do was dump every single video frame out into a lossless image format
then apply a Photoshop Filter (using Fireworks) effect to each individual image frame one by one.
the 4 seconds clip required me editing 96 images totaling around 100mb's.
Thank god for keyboard shortcuts LOL
So i will for sure finish it up and test it then upload it soon guys.
To recap, this will be the Boot-Animation for Marshmallow called "Stitches" with a black background.
And it will match perfectly the Boot logo i uploaded on this comment v2.4
MotoBlack v2.4 "Stitches"
These are really great logos. My favorites are the Moto Black with the solid black background and the Moto Black Stitches. I have always liked the simple Motorola logo and these are super clean. Did the glass reflection logo get removed?

Thanks for letting me know.
I did not make the Blue Glass Logo into a Logo.bin.
Was not sure it was good enough to be honest.
I posted it as sample to see if anyone was interested if i made it into a Logo.bin file.
I tend to like the simple ones myself and dark too.
Anything i have shared i hope is dark so the icons on the home-screen are easy to see.
I don't like bright wallpaper backgrounds they are too distracting.. and can be too bright i think.
There will be more uploaded i have some ideas i am working on.
If anyone has any suggestions feel free to post them. (or questions)
