I've just purchased this app and I must say it works amazingly well on my HTC S710...
I'm not trying to advertise or anything I just want you to give the app a try (there's a free version available aswell) because it makes the Vox so much more enjoyable to use
Check out this review: http://www.wmexperts.com/reviews/software_reviews/review_kinoma_play.html
I think every Vox user should have this app to impress their friends with at least
Just downloaded it, looks nice in the review. If it works just as well on my Vox it'll be great
Only downside is the memory use, but hey who cares if your in the bus or something
Thx for the heads up
It works great.
Thanks
I played around with it now, it's really awsome what you can do with it. Now i can finally watch youtube movies etc
The downside is, the program is really heavy on my phone. I installed VoxOC and i needed 264Mhz just to switch my screen without distortion.
Since 264Mhz is much to dangerous to me I now have it @228Mhz (makes it a little better )
This program probably works very good on HTC Diamond, Tytn (II) etc. But its a big program for the 200Mhz Vox.
I could definatly recommend it, but its not an ideal player you can use on the background (for example while your browsing and using live messenger all at the same time)
Now i go play around with it some more!
FeareX, strange I run my Vox at default cpu speed & experience no problems at all. I have WM6.0 though...
It arent really slowdowns, but I notice the program is very intensive for my phone.
Although youtube movies dont work very well :S

I came across these two files and figured I'd share them with my fellow Voxers.
The one complaint (next to battery life) users have had is the ability to watch YouTube videos.
Well, I've attached the files for a 'Google Mobile' and a 'YouTube Mobile' that has worked well on my phone.
With the You'Tube mobile, you play the video straight off of the actual site and don't need any other 'codecs' for the phone. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to other streaming video web sites.
In that regard, I suggest the use of Skyfire Browser. I've attached this as well. I don't know if these are on the forum already but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have them here in this post.
Have fun.

Feel the heat
I prefer using skyfire as well.....but for some reason using it makes my s710 really warm at the back. I figure if its hot enough to feel at the back cover that means it must be boiling inside since the heat's been conducted through the battery and back cover. This heat can't be good for the health of the battery.
I still use it from time to time in any case. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.
I suppose Vox technology is probably going to start showing it's age with software moving on to cater for more capable devices with better processors.
Also:
vTap doesn't seem to get much attention here. I think it's a great little app for internet videos.
www.vtap.com
(P.S.: I was unaware of people complaining of Vox battery life.....I always thought it had above average battery life. Even with full-on heavy use with wifi i can get 2 full days worth out of it)
That's interesting about the battery life. Do you use any special application or have some fancy tricks that you do? You're the first person I've come across to speak such crazy about the 2 days using Wi-Fi.
I also had tried vTap but it did not work for me some time ago. Maybe there has been an update that will work now.
Can an application be affected by a network provider? Here in South Africa I use Vodacom and perhaps my vTap wasn't working because the application was not compatible with the technology used by Vodacom.
Is this a feasible argument or am I talking dribble?
the latest tcpmp version also supports youtube!!! check it out, it works flawlessly.
how do u play you tube on tcpmp?
v1.2.5 build 4506 for ARM. Try it out. It has an inbuild feature of watching youtube videos.
@Black Spartan
@Black Spartan
Nope, I'm not using any special apps or anything. Although I have gotten aggressive in the power saving settings and brought down the times for things switching off when idle. This was when I first got the phone and spent the first couple of days constantly browsing the internet on it and downloading apps for it....battery seemed to last a good long time.
Don't know what to say about vTap. I've tried it in a couple of places in europe and asia and it worked fine, but I always use it with wifi. I don't have a cheap data plan so I don't use GPRS much (which is slow anyway).

isnt it coreplayer then?(as tcpmp was renamed to core player when becoming comercial(buy software)!) the last tcpmp version is something around 0.72!
Oh i forgot to mention... It is core player. and the version i mentioned is for ppc, for smartphones the version that supports you tube is V1.3.0 build 6213 for arm, i.e., 2008 version. and the latest tcpmp version is 0.81 and does not supports the subtitles plugin.

once i used 0.82 subtitle version found it somewhere i dont remember but it had this function working!
is there a 0.82 version? the latest i knew was 0.81. I'll try to find it. Its great if subtitles work!!!
i am currently sitting on stock firmware and dont feel comfortable flashing my phone. I like that i can watch movies and videos on my device but windows media player is really laggy and jumps a lot. what other suggestions do you guys have for media players for 6.1 pro...
coreplayer is not free but its really great. plays divx better than divx player for wm. though it doesnt do tv out very well sadly. but its good enough to watch movies on my phone full framerate.
yea i have been looking at that. I just cant justify spending like 30 bucks for it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
roush611, consider for one moment getting comfortable flashing, it is very fun! I was very hesitant too but now I flash weekly!
On to your question...I wonder if S2P would remedy the issues you would are having? It uses WMP as it's 'engine' but maybe it would solve these issues.
Search for TCMP, free version of Core Player.
well i flashed my g1 and it was cool for a bit but then i could never get it back to stock fimware. So i dont really wanna mess with that again.
I tried to download TCMP but it just crashes everytime i open it... I am kinda at a loss.
You can try Kinoma play free version. It worked wonderfully on mine, and s2p was previously mentioned by someone. Nitrogen is another if the other 2 dont wor for you but kinoma imorts your media library while the other 2 dont.
The free version of kinoma play doesnt let you use the equalizer but it was never a problem for me because htc includeds audio booster with its phones.
You could try Pocket Player http://www.conduits.com/products/player/
I have only used it for podcast and audio myself but I'm very impressed with it. You should be able to download a 30 free trial version.
I've started a thread about this, but Pocket Player is probably the best player out there. However, every app that I've found does one thing really good, and another important thing really poorly. YMMV, though.
Search for "TCPMP Tech1 PRO7 Digital Play HD StandAlone Version.cab". It's really great. It does flash videos better than anything I've tried. I think the forum is everythingdiamond.info, or something like that. Read and follow the setup info.
Hi there...
I'm not very satisfied with my HD2's music player - it takes too long to load, and it doesnt't have an option to search.
What in your opinion is the best music player for the HD2?
Thank you!
I like Pocket Tunes even from my Palm days. It is fast show covers and has a great radio feature with lots of stations. There is also a nice Wvga skin.
nitrogen! http://code.google.com/p/microfi-nitrogen/downloads/list - the best player in my opinion... its free and supports wvga...
if u have to much money, PocketPlayer is also a good program ( http://www.conduits.com/products/player/ )
What about Slide 2 Play (S2P)? Is made by an XDA developer, I havent tried it yet on a HD2, but with the HTC touch cruise it worked like a charm!

You may want to check out http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm . I've used this for a long time and love it.
First of all, I've done some searching and haven't found enough information about overclock on HTC ChaCha (Status), that's why I'm starting this thread.
I've bought my HTC ChaCha, but I still don't have it in hand. But for all of you that are already playing with it, how is overclock?
GSM Arena shows it has 800MHz, but is it enough? Have any of you experienced some sluggishness or "small hiccups"?
And for you that already overclocked it, how much MHz have you reached without rebooting for overheat?
Well, it depends.
Generally, I'd say, it's enough, but there are some moments, when You can feel, the CPU is busy.
If You want to watch DivX movies, it's definitely NOT enough.
If You look at the battery life, it's too high.
We would need an OC/UV kernel, but I didn't find any yet (and I don't know, how to create one).
as for overclock there is not a need. u'll just need a memory free apps(recommend memory booster free) when u feels lag as the ram runs low. the 800mhz processor in this phone is working well.
as for Divx i'm not sure but i use Mobo player for videos(with codec*free) from market.
you could try MX Videos player free in the market for Divx videos as i do not have any divx format videos to try it out.

If you say there's not a need I'll believe (after all, you own the phone, I'm still waiting for mine), but how do you use your phone? Do you watch online videos, do you play games that demand a good phone hardware? How does Angry Birds play on ChaCha? And what's the score on Quadrant Benchmark?
talking about angry bird... it make me wanna laugh... when u try zoom out the birdie look like sesame seeds... lols others games i have not try due to internal memory running low... not till my xtc clip arrives...
online video is "not possible" as the chacha come with built in flash player lite. maybe youtube will just fine. some website u'll not able to play the videos. i tried install flash player 11 but no effect on it.(u won't be able to see any flash player apps in market too)
Played - They need to be fed. Runs ok 'till it has to zoom out - a bit sluggish then but otherwise it runs perfectly.
Pool Break Pro (or something like that) - runs great
Some game with a robot that has to get some keys (forgot the name) - runs great also

hahaha this one made me laugh!
well, then I say we can expect some lag depending on the game, but I think it's normal. but I still believe a overclock would help.
We need a custom kernel for that.
Hi guys,
I guess we all spent quite I time now playing with our Surfaces, so I wonder what the things are that bother you the most right now?
For me personally it comes down to two main things: Performance and a real video player
Performancewise I think the Surface has really good hardware, but either WinRT or the App optimization clearly lacks so far, as there are quite a few times when I'm thinking: Come on, that's all you got?! And I'm not even thinking UI performance or Desktop performance, as I'm quite happy with that, Metro's probably not iOS fluent, but it's definitely fluent enough, and also the occasional little lag when opening Apps is fine for me.
But the in-App performance is simply too bad. No matter if it's games (I guess I didn't find a single game with at least modest graphics which was really fluent) or the video player (come on, not being able to play a single SD .avi fluently?!).
And that already brings me to my secong point: Video Player. To put it quite simple, either Microsoft will come up with a better looking, better performing player that supports all the usual types of files (no .mkv?!), or a third party player will do the job. Or I'm going to send it back, as that's simply a no go for a tab.
In then meantime I'm halfway between amazed and frustrated what the Surface can and can't do
I could do with a video player that will play dvd ts format as I have loads on my nas, if anyone knows one already would be good to know i loved media centre would be great to get something like that.
I found pinball being open even in background creates a lag issue so i always have to shut it down fully, i wander if other apps are also having this effect? Could explain lag issues as once closed mine is back to full no lag speed. It has same effect if its only thing open or there is a load.

I am able to play 720p xvid/avi ripped from bluray with no problem. What type of avi are you playing?
Here is my list of complaints:
- No LTE
- Lack of apps
- Random hang ups or general app slowness and/or crashing (not a major problem, and will hopefully be resolved through OS and app updates)
- My iPad now is boring to use
I try to play xvid avis which are way more fluent on my notebook... But also other avis are more fluent on the notebook...

No GPS
Occasionally touch pin keyboard does not show on wake up despite folded back. Need to use touch cover.
Occasional brief lags

There is a fix for the low volume. Check the tips and tricks thread.
I like the weight, right now the only downside I have is lack of VPN connectivity.
I'd like to see general performance enhancements but I believe those will come.

I think it's heavy as well...1/4 lb shaved off would be great, but it is the same weight as an iPad for those wondering.
My main complaint is the lack of POP3 email capability. I bought it mainly for work and my work email is a POP3, so this is a thing that will make me return it, even that I really love it far.

While somewhat convoluted, a work around is to send your work email to something like gmail which does support POP3, then link your gmail to the e-mail app on the surface.
To the OP, no tablet that I'm aware of supports MKV playback with first party video players. That is something the app store will take care of in time.
Anyways, no real complaints on my end, just some minor issues like the trackpad being a bit twitchy for my taste. Obviously the app store is a weak point, but that will get better with time and I bought the Surface understanding that.
Xda forum makes my Surface unresponsive if I'm using IE MetroStyle. If I switch to the full version everything works more or less fine.
thanks for posting these! I'm considering buying a surface and need to know these things.
I found in another thread that adding ad blockers lists in the Settings of IE fixes my performance issues when I'm using XDA, I tested and it works.

O/T but the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 does support MKV playback on the stock video player.

I don't know if this is also a wnrt app but a video app that might help in the app store is called multimedia8 give that a try they market it as being a multimedia playing app

It is a Windows RT app (which is different from a WinRT app- all apps are WinRT apps), however it still only plays the same files that the built-in player can. It's just a wrapper for that.
One of the primary reasons for getting a Surface for me was consuming video content. So far;
- Sky Go in the UK website uses Silverlight and there's no Silverlight support
- UK Football League websites 'Player' video services use Flash and they're not on Microsoft's whitelist (thank the lord for XDA Devs workaround for that one)
- No support for Windows 7 Media Center .wtv Recorded TV files, of which I have tons
Add on top of this buggy built in apps like People, Music & Video. There's enough about Surface that I still love it, and I know apps and updates will eventually resolve these issues but it's frustrating none the less.
My Surface creaks. Around the bezel at various spots near the edge of the tablet, if I press the bezel it goes in slightly as if there is a gap behind it or as if it hasn't been glued down properly. I tried this all around the tablet. I tried this on my friend's Surface last night but her screen is fine. So I am returning my Surface ? Does your creak?
I am missing a good forum to discuss issues people are having with their surface devices. I am totally happy with mine, but still misisng sume things. Where can I have useful discussions about this ?

Sorry for being to quick, I wanted to add some of my probs:
Pop 3 account. I already have read a lot of disussions on this and found some tips, but my provider only supports POP3
Synching my Windows Phon 7.5 (simply not working)
Locking the device when I close the lid, meaning if I close the cover (touch or type) I want the device to be locked
Support for older micro SD Cards. I cant my SD cards to work only the new SDHCX cards work
Does anyone know a good method to search the AppStore ? I realized that I am getting different results if I do a "general" search in the store or If I look for an app in the specific section. This is getting me mad.
When will MSFT release the final version of its Office 2013 products to the Surface users ? I already have it on my PC but the Surface still has a preview of Office 2013
