has anyone tried it out?
Works good, only issue I have is that it only lets you use 1 account for each messenger service.
quite nice - allows all options available in windows live apart from profile pics - but thing i likeis the ability to nudge
Slick is good
slick is really nice actually,i think better than agile messenger. its very fast, looks nice, has typically lonelycat good key-shortcuts. and as long as its a beta its free.
somehow i can't connect with all my jabber accounts - with some it works no problem whatsoever but with others it just says that i've been disconnected...
hmmm.
works well with polish papla - jabber.papla.pl, with czech-based jabbim.pl.
doesn't work with the jabbim managed chrome.pl, and i love it so
we shall see if they correct it any time soon.
P.S. = it has a reliable data counter! finally! seems to be using less data for connection too ? hmmm.
Slick
Hallo, can someone help me wirh slick. I can't connect to msn. Error 10061.
Do you know what this means?
Thank a lot!
Yes same error here.
I used Slick for quite sometime until I tried IM+ and Fring. Still undecided which is better between these 2 but they're more stable from my experience. Also, both can connect Facebook chat.
I have heard abour Fring so you like it a lot. My phone came with Aim Yahoo and MSN which I don't really use but I have am AIM and Yahoo account and I have Googletalk and FB and Twitter. I got pocket twit but only used it once or twice and didn't care for it and I may try twinkini next. But I heard Fring had several things and was good. I usually just go to FB and Twitter from Opera browser. But if there is a better way like Fring I may have to try it. This is my 1st win mob phone.

i also have a yahoo account and i've tried all major im client software on my leo.
beejive is my favorite but it is in permanent beta and has no client support for wm. sometimes it works fine but sometimes it doesn't work for days.
in my opinion the best overall is palringo. the most annoying thing is that sound notification doesn't work in standby so you won't know when you have an incoming message.
to install:
1. go to www.palringo.com and create an account
2. download the installation file for wm (.cab)
3. install the cab from your device
4. run palringo
Beejive i had to test. I used another some times!
Is palringo for free?
Thx for the tipp!!!

Try Nimbuzz... It's great
It supports: Skype, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, MSN Live, FaceBook etc...
Surely my favorite. I have attached all three for you
Parlingo, Nimbuzz and Beejive!
Enjoy
Cheers,
Faisal.

Just wanted to add to your post. This app also uses sms and not data to send the IM's. You are correct, it is not fancy. But it can stay running in the background of your phone and hardly affects the battery life. Palringo which I use also just kills it quickly. And since OXIM uses sms it is great for those with limited data plans. It just uses cellular data to login and load the buddy list. A must have for a backup IM service.
slick messenger works pretty good too...and its free...

ahh my data connects and I am pretty sure the sms doesnt get used, but I have an unlimited plan for both so no bother there... I also noticed that the battery seems very good using it compared to im or others...
Hi, i would like to have an app that offers me instant free messaging comunication (using data plan) with other droid users, just like blackberry messenger...
This is because my girlfriend is willing to buy a motorola backflip...
Does this app exists? or will exist?
You'll both have a google phone with gmail addresses. Use the built in GTalk application.

Duh!
I feel so stupid right now!
hahahahahaha
ill tell you something, i loove google, but, gtalk is its only service that i dont really use, does this offer instant comunication?is it fast?
Pretty fast, and fairly reliable. Generally if there's a connection issue ur IM gets sent to the receiver as an email to their Gmail account. Definitely works well though. I use it almost exclusively now.
I wish Gtalk on android support facebook talk and others
I use ebuddy, which supports AIM and Facebook Chat.
Had good experiences with it so far.
sorry posted to wrong thread

I love GTalk,
The only missing feature IMO is file transfer
Could try Meebo as well. Lets you log in with Facebook, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, icq, jabber, MySpace. Just pick any account and sign in and you'll be able to IM to all the others.
It's not phone specific, but I find it easier to go from Laptop to Phone to Laptop again this way.
Used to use meebo, switchedto this program called fring cause its got sip support. It can connect to all of those above too, seems to do abetter job off reconnecting after a lost signal.
I still keep gtalk open to talk to my brother, it s more reliable than all the others imo
I tried fring, but could not stand the interface. My 7 year old neice could have done a better job.
In the event that I just HAVE to use an IM beside Gtalk, I use Palringo (for Y!, MSN, FBchat) or the actual AIM app from the market. Both are quite capable.
Try fring. It's not bad & I use it for MSN, Skype

hah yeah thats one thing i forgot to mention, the interface is absolutely horrid. looks like someone drew it with a crayon.
I had been looking for a way to reskin it...
nimbuzz was really clean looking but i didnt try it much cause it didnt have sip support
Using gtalk!
i feel sorry for not using it before!!!!

Hi, I was recently looking for an email client that supported folders when using Pop3 email. Maildroid just released their latest update and now has this feature. The client works very nicely. I have been looking for this feature since I got my Droidx last summer and someone finally did it. Enjoy.
$17.99 is way too high for an email client IMHO.
There is a free version too. Just missing a few features. Nothing I miss.

Thanks for the heads up on this, it is great! Great enough that I have uninstalled the Gmail app and am now using this exclusively for all of my email needs.

Y'know... Replies like this REALLY annoy me sometimes. Who the hell cares WHY he's using MSN Messenger? He's using it, that's enough. If you can't answer his question sensibly then don't bother replying at all, especially if you're going to be asinine.
@Op. Fring has an MSN Messenger plugin. Not actually tried it myself, but maybe worth a try? Alternatively, Yahoo Messenger works cross network with MSN, has done for a while, though last time I used that it SERIOUSLY upped my data usage...
Thanksfor the sensible replies.
Ill try fring, as i believe it can be used for skype also, however trillian is better, though more configuration over font sizes would be preferred.
I think trillian is great
