3g keeps turning on - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I hope someone can help me with this. if i turn off data connection in comm manager it automaticly turns back on. i tried to stop the weather program and e-mail sync. but that does not seem to work either .
there must be something i am doing wrong . i always thought that the comm manager was a sort of master switch just as it works with wifi or flightmode. which does not turn on automaticly.
battery life is taking a big hit from 3g always on and not to mention data cost when traveling.
Thanks,
Rob

There was another tip provided on Diamond forum how to switch off 3G transfer and it works for TP also.
I'm wondering because on my TP I have 3G icon or E or G but it doesn't mean that I'm transfering any data and depleting my battery right ?
It's just information that 3G is available from provider right ?
B.

I've found this solution on ... Polish Diamond forum
You need to use nodata soft
http://pdaclubjaspik.blogspot.com/2008/04/nowy-connection-mgr-dla-pda-nodata-type.html
and file here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/111515828/GPRSConnectionManager_arm.zip
Just install and untick connection you want to disable.
Regards
B.

thank you, will try it out!

my problem is slightly diff. after upgrade of latest ROM from ATT Fuze website, now whenever i disconnect phone call, it automatically connects to EDGE. How to stop this?

which rom are you using??
I have the same problem occasionally on TNT3.0. A soft reset usually fixes it but it nearly always takes at least two pushes of the WLAN button in Comm Mgr to get WiFi to turn on and stay on.
I am used TNT 2.0
I have a solution for this problem.
I change the comm manager to original them , now wi fi working.
Mr. Its Right please in your next rom Don't used a HTC comm manager.

Hi there
Can you pls tell me how to change HTC connection manager to the original wifi connection manager?
I have this old ROM and because I am away I cannot update my ROM!
I have rebooted the phone 20 times now, and pressed the Wifi button lots but wifi still doesnt come on
Thanks
Mat
Sorry ... just to clarify, I have looked in the Windows directory for the original connection manager and have tried launching it from there (I think it's renamed to connmgr.exe.xxxx) but this just launches the new HTC one.
Does anyone know how to get the default connection manager back?
I have no idea why my wifi connection will not switch on, it was working for weeks up until yesterday and I don't know what changed, but when you switch it on with connection manager it goes straight back to the off icon again.
Also, the network cards control panel settings page should have two tabs:
1) list of networks which you can manually connect to
2) "this network connects you to work / the internet"
But every time I reboot, I only see the second of these pages, and there are no tabs at the bottom to change to the first!
Weird. Can anyone possibly help? I would be ever so grateful.

[QUESTION] Windows Mobile 6.1 [3.5G HSDPA]

Hey guy, i have the Omnia i-900 Samsung PDA Phone,
I have an issue, When ever you turn on your mobile? The Windows Mobile 6.1 instantly connects your phone to have 3.5G packet Data Connection ( Vodafone AU Internet)
This problemas has charged me over 260 dollars lol and i dont even use the net..
I know i can turn it off by, disconnecting the data connection, by pressing Disconnect on the Tab on top displaying the 3.5G+ Icon. But i think sometimes it sometimes connect back again... i ended all of the tasks as well
Is there a way to permanently disable 3.5g active data connection witout having to delete the vodafone setting? or soft-reset your mobile, without having to worry that your fone will connect to the internet if you dont want to...
I only want to use the internet when ever i want to, like on demand..
Thanks in advance guyz.
1. PDA should not automatically connect Data connection, except if U have some app in autostart which needs Data.
At least mine doesn't connect.
2. You might try to force only GSM connection. Try to disable HSDPA in Settings->Connections. Not sure that will help...
Oh, and does autoconnect happens after soft-reset too?
Start, settings, connections tab, connections, advanced tab, net selections (the first on top) and select in both windows the "office net". So it can use only the wi-fi connection. Confirm all and finally soft reset.
The names that i told may be different, because i have translate them from my italian rom.
I have the Diamond, but it had your same problem. With this solution, no more problems to me.
Ciao
There is probably an application that requires internet access. It could be a weather app that loads fresh data, Windows update, an IM app and so on.
Have a look around your applications (and settings) and I'm sure you will find the culprit

Data Connection greyed out in Comm Manager

I have Gonzo's version running on my Vox.
I would like to disable the data connection when I am out of my service area, so I go into the comm manager, and click on it to disable it.
It will then move the radio button to off, but then the whole "Data Connection" section gets greyed out. I can not click on it anymore. After about 5 minutes, if i go back into the comm manager, the data connection is back on and the section is no longer greyed out.
Any help with what is going on here would be much appreciated!
Thanks.
Seems like some software on your phone is turning it back on again.
Try using NoData.
open RSS Hub - open Settings and change Auto Download to never.
Hello. I have the same problem (data connection grey/inactive), although I never turned of the radio. I have tried rss hub/menu/options/autoupdate/noautoupdate and also tried NoData but it doesn't initiate (an error of some kind).
But he big problem is that ActiveSync refuses to conect to the Vox and i hoped that fixing Data Connection would get rid of the problem. I would very much appreciate any useful input. Thx
There's an option in ActiveSync's connectionproperties to Allow wireless connections when connected to the desktop computer.
Nodata did it's job. I no longer download any e-mail or get internet access. However, it made my phone pretty sluggish, and I still received MMS messages (which are downloaded via my data connection). Is there any way to stop these as well?
I also made the suggested change in RSS hub. However, when I tuned off data connection in the comm manager, I had the same result: The data connection turns off when i click on it, but anytime thereafter the data connection option is greyed out... I can't turn it ON or off.... which is obviously a problem? -- Any suggestions for this? -- This is happening indefinitely now. It no longer appears as an option, leaving me permanently without a data connection
Also, is there another version of the comm manager buried somewhere on my phone. I seem to remember it looking differently before. I'm currently accessing it via the power button, then (5)Comm Manager.
Thanks again!
In no data disable each and every data connection in the list. That should stop mms download. BTW which of Gonzo's ROM are you using, had you specified that would have helped since not long time back, Dr. G used to give us one great ROM after another. If its WM 6 ROM, then may be you should switch to 6.1 ROM since it is much faster.
Ah, sorry, I have the last release that he did (6.1).
The only connection in nodata is my GPRS connection. I use this connection for both internet and MMS. Although, disabling it only disabled internet usage, and I still get MMS messages. Very strange.

how to switch from 3g to edge

sometimes I just need the edge just to IM people not surf at blasing speeds. 3g sucks up my battery to much, I've looked in the threads for a solution and havent't found a thead could someone help me out? THanks my phone is a HTC Fuze if That helps
You can go to: start>settings>connections>connection manager, and there you can turn 3G off/on. I use it all the time, because until at&t fixes the tower near where I live, the 3G signal is screwed up, I get a 3G lock, but nothing works...no phone, internet. Turn off 3G, and everything works. Only happens at home. Go a few blocks and 3G works fine.

Yeah, sorry about that
I'm running wm 6.5, not 6.1
If you are running the standard fuze "touch flo", slide it until you see the cog
wheel/gear, and look for connection manager, same thing...look for 3g where you can turn it off/on.
I'm doing that one from memory, I haven't used touch flo in a long time.
*sigh* I dont see it, I know just @bout where everything is on phone but I dont see it [email protected] for your help though

MSN online all the time?

Hi all,
I have a Nokia Lumia 900.
Does anyone know how to keep MSN online all the time?
Most of the times, when I go into "messaging" it says connecting and it does after a couple of seconds. I thought it should be connected all the time.
It seems it disconnects when I go back to my start up page or when the phone goes into stand by mode.
I searched, thoroughly, into settings... can't seem to find an option.
Thank you for any help.
you can either
1. use ur 3G
2. connect to ur charger/computer
to keep the internet connection going (or else it wouldnt be connected with ur wifi if u switch the phone off)
3. Download the app spotify, go into login screen. And just press windows key to keep using it. When u turn off the phone, the connection stays on.
This is a glitch/bug in the system and is not suppose to work like that.
Thank you for the fast reply.
My 3G is always on. However, the coverage isn't always good.
I downloaded spotify. Doesn't seem to work
Thank you anyway.
