Hi Guys
Here's my first attempt at ROM cooking. Foremost, I must thank all the ROM cookers (you know who you are!) who has given me the inspiration to cook this vanilla edition. Also, thanks to you guys "ROM Junkies" (like me) for giving me the PUSH. The reason I cooked this vanilla edition is because I had always wanted a vanilla version. Secondly, I wanted to have the feel and to understand the effort required to cook a ROM.
This ROM is based on GnatGoSplat's WM6.1 Clean 5.2.19202 (Build 19202.1.0.0) Eval. I am releasing my vanilla edition with his blessings. Thanks so much Gnat.
What's out:
- the old WM homescreen
- all previous homescreen schemes
- JBed (java)
- Windows Live icons
- no soft-key short-cuts (due to varied devices; please install separately)
- no tweaks included, yet!
What's in:
- Sliding Panel homescreen
- Rinku Bar "ready" (included only the icons - may included full apps in future version)
- Threaded SMS is retained
- xT9 (instead of T9)
Please follow installation process from KarHoe's Guide
The flashing takes a little longer when it is at 100%. Please be patient.
On first reboot you may have a blank homescreen. Go to Settings>Home Screen>change either the Color scheme or Background image and >Done
I dont know why. Probably coz I changed/removed the green scheme.

1 chome operator name it not in the right place and to small to see
2 bootscreens are missing theres is no HTC.gif in \windows\
and oemstartup.dll is allso missing from windows

Bug as in the original ROM. When syncing with Exchange you cannot get passed the password screen as the phone has hung

I think that this are those Vanilla changes... fine to me, because I disable all splash crap.
I think that only universal IME should be installed, without any languages database fot T9,XT9 etc.
I use my country T9 and it is no use for me, as many many non-speaking-english users. Vanilla should be vanilla

The "bugs" you mentioned are covered in the first post.
I only include Rinku Bars' icons with the intention of installing the full apps in future release. So if you want it now you have to install it separately.
I am also aware of the slow flashing. It was mentioned in the first post too. I am looking for a solution.

I removed the VoIP dll so I am not sure if provisioning works. Have you tried Gnats Eval version?

I hope you could include ROMUpdateUtility to ease the flashing....and is there a way to remove the threaded SMS?

It seems to work well except the font size on the today screen is a bit smaller. Now 8 hours after installation.

1. I forgot to mention that I installed my modified cpr file. Thats why the operator name is not at its original position and the font is thinner. The sliding panel is also slimmer. I also included the bronzeres file that contains more icons.
2. Those were removed to make sure it is vanilla and I think it doesnt impact performance.

there is a tweak to revert the threaded sms. i will try to get it for you and also there are request from others.

illi could you edit your rom so it shows the default bootscreens you no the ones with wm6.1 on it and iv fixed your cpr if you what it ill upload it so you can put it in your next rom

I speak spanish...so if you're interrested on a rom in spanish give me the files and I'll translate it for you, just tell me how!!! hehehe, when wm6 starts a Crosbow has a spanish version, and people in forum translate the english files for him then he cooked up to his rom.

There is no MMS in this ROM only SMS (Text messages). I like the newer icons in this base rom, especially the signal colors. Also, the dialpad does not work so well, after call is ended the end call button stays up and red. I know this is beta, just some notes on what I've found using it.
Bluetooth doesn't work (although the light does turn blue, it doesn't send or receive anything).
Videos can't be viewed in Windows Media Player ("The souce filter for the file could not be loaded." error message)
Again, I know this is beta...

Thank you for this release. I liked very much I had some problems. I can´t change any registry item. Seems that I don´t have any permission to modify thing is system. And I´ve tried to disable Security Warning during CAB installation and I wasn´t successful.
You know hot to disable this security stuff in your ROM?

MMS must be in ArcSoft MMS 4.2 was integrated. But i shall chick it
If you go to messages you must see the option MMS. If not i certain upload R2. That was also the plan.

I want also make a PTG edetion after i finished the Dutch edition. I have all the translated stuff available from a first try.

Thank you for publishing this ROM. There is a problem with the PIN input screen : there are no buttons on the screen. You can use the buttons on the keyboard, but I was afraid to use that way.
I would need a very clean ROM , so if you have a corrected one, please publish it.
I downloaded everything from your share page, but I have not enough knowledge to cook my own ROM.

i have found a two bug, i can't open camera setting and dialpad of this rom is too slowly, no show calling id and i can't use smartdialing. thank for your fix bug in future

Camera is now fixed!
I am using now the Camera OEM from SVI. Other isues i'am now trying to solve before i come with R2

How did you fix reg settings? For some reason people complain that they can not do it with my rom. I can, they can't. weird.
The icons not showing up has to do with the oem used, and the .MUI's used.
I had that problem when switching between kitchens. Sometimes editing the init flashfiles.dat does not work as I got duplicates that did not work. It is best to use the initflashfiles.dat that came with the rom, and edit it as nessesary.

I think i solved a lot ;-) now Probably not all. I create initfiles.dat to get the missing icons in the settings part ;-)
I removed the HTC Taskmanager because i used e closeApp when you pushed more then 2 a3 secconds on the voice button.
So i can now place release II. I hope that all issues are soved now. I look a lot at other ROMS and kitchen regs apps etc.
But before posting release II i want to know first his battery drain. In the mean team i now starting with other language roms

I was messing around with the kitchen that you posted and the rom you made (v1) and I have to say I am impressed.
I also had an accident wich left my wizard running at 38mb free ram!! I have to figure out how. never seen that before.
A couple of suggestions:
Enable NTIZ (time and date fro network) OM won't install if the correct time is not posted
Enable RAPI
Remove security when instaling cabs
Disable error reporting
Tasks.ini you might want to move into Office
SAP Settings you might want to move to the control panel
As well as modem link
Also, I noticed 2 commanagers: the diamond, and this new system like commanager in the control panel
That's all the time I have for today.
Could you send me the new flashfiles dat and HTC oem translation provxml when you are done?

I will post him tonight. I am now checking his powerconsumption. After 6 hour battery was still 100% with HTC Home.
But Release 2 is without HTC Home.

GPRS/EDGE issue I do not know how to fix. maybe you may be able to help, or at least requires some inquiry:
Gmaps and OperaMini can not connect to the network even though the E icon is up. I have to press and hold end call button to disable it; only then those programs start a new connection. It is like the connection times out, but does not fully disconnect.
Battery is lasting a ridiculously long time with pushmail enabled (imap Gmail) much longer than the other roms I flashed. kudos.

I have also a G4 but i dont put a SPL in it so it must bu G3 G4 safe.
I hoping now on some feedback to improve this release and maybe to expand in some programs.
I do now some testing with OperaMini. It not in this release. But if you mist something in it let me know

thanks for the great job!
I have Qtek 8310 and here's what i've found so far:
+ the rom's pretty fast.
+ great fonts, the right size.
+ all the HTC home plugins work fine.
+ GPRS/EDGE works fine too.
+ battery life seems to be average.
+ IE's Favourites in Russian are saved correctly via ActiveSync.
- my phone froze up once today during an incoming call (I couldn't answer, had to remove the battery). Maybe it's a radio issue? I have radio version 02.25.01.
- Audio Booster doesn't work (it loads but I can't turn it on).
- Voice recorder doesn't start from Start Menu (looks like a broken link).
- when I turn on or off 'Receive incoming beams' in Settings/Connections/Beam it says 'the settings could not be saved' although they ARE saved in fact.
- Rinku colored icon bar does not work well with this rom (same was with the original Gregory's Rose rom). I miss those icons!
- if you use CHome (not HTC home) and set a wallpaper, it's icon bar part is cut inaccurately, so you can see the cut (same as in Gregory's version). It also occures with some of older 6.1 roms.
- no SP5 button fix is included with the kitchen - you have to install it yourself.
As you can see, these are only cosmetics. But I only tested it for one day. Will write again if I notice anything else.

Bluetooth issue
I have checked and found out that OBEX transfer doesn't work with all phones. For example, I can't transfer files from my Qtek 8310 to Nokia 6233 and Samsung E840 using Send command from Resco Explorer which is the simplest way to my mind. But if you use Bluetooth Explorer that comes with this ROM and copy/paste a file, it works!
Yet I'm gonna try a program called Terminal, I suspect that it'll work either because it has its own OBEX driver.

Hello BD! Good to see you around. Unfortunately I don't use my tornado anymore. I had given my son the 2nd phone I had and he broke it and I gave him my tornado and i'm using Blue Angel. However.... I know I'll be back to ebay for an SDA I loved that phone so much, all though, this touch stuff is cool, big screen, and so many more features. Hugz to all.

Hi BlackDragon, i install these rom yesterday, i'm working with this and it's very nice, have excelents issues and work very nice.
The only problem that i found is that Windows Media don't play avi files and the home screen with slide panels have letters over borders and the calendar slide don't have sufficient height and some dates with subject and place long don't show nice. I install ArcsoftMMS_4.0.40.1_forTornadoWM6.cab, you must close all processes in celetask that may be in conflict with mms composer, then install MMS composer.

- icon placing in start menu needs to be done correctly
- playback issue with WMP with large storage cards - seems to be fixed - please confirm
- you still have to do basic things when rom starts (calibration, time zone etc etc)
- Naked rom is almost Naked (it still has Palm's tools and utils)
All minor bugs:
Phone: Channels - pressing Ok does not exit. Windows key does not cause exit either.
Sounds & Notifications: vibrate always not completley showing. (problems with porting new WM builds to sqvga)
Outlook Mobile: 'Menu' icon does not appear. But if you press the space between keyboard and OK icon menu list apears. - is this still active?
Major bug on some devices:
Phone goes to sleep and you can't unlock it and use it... trying to solve this it seems like it is some Palm driver / WM 280xx build issue

it is there and maybe will work for you but it is not the same like on ralph or blackstone
i have to figure this one out...

I am currently using Mattbee's 23089 version which is very good, are there any major differences in this 28008 to make it worth upgrading to ??????

Automatic configuration is working, but database is older one, so there is a good chance that it will work in most countries.

will test it 2day or 2moro, got some Courswork 2do .... but looking forward to it, any ideas on RealVGA bit ?
i want new contact app from 6.5.3 and new notification bit at the top, but i find Start button at the bottom excessively big + the HardKey is just next to it lol, (i guess i will remap it to something else) and i hope RealVGA will make Start Button and other soft key a bit smaller, as it takes a lot of space on Small Treo Screen,
well i will give it a go l8r whan i have time...

Those "new" buttons were made to be used with our fingers, that's why they are "so big". I find them very usefull !!!!

I also like big buttons at the bottom it is the thing I long waited for.
Vladimir, I found the good instruction for RealVGA, and will try to implement it into ROM
Tried it on previous ROM and ended up in chaos on phone good luck is that I made backup before that

yeah but on Treo there is a Hardware buttons for OK and Start, and now there is same 2 buttons ontop... as i said i gusess is will just remap them to someting else.
and they would be finger friendly on 4" screen but not on treo ( whan u already have thous buttons as physical buttons)

ha i was about to download previous version, will wait for these to b uploaded now

problems with tweaking the first welcome screen trying to fix it right now
A lot of changes made from the 1.0 so I hope it will be OK
If everything goes well now it will take a while with my semi-slow ADSL to upload it cca 1 hour
and I think I will not try for a while to implement RealVga because I tried 2x and it keeps ruining the whole ROM... so untill I find a instructions how to cook it ...

edited all first welcome screen settings but still stuck on orange windows screen, perhaps it needs time to install everything I've put into rom, so I'll just leave it,
don't know what to do: upload or not?
I'm going to sleep now I need to get up early and I've spent almost whole day playing with this thing :

Tried to make fast changes and flashing right now... if it goes past orange screen I'll put it to upload if not tomorrow or monday I'll work on that
