quickgps?

hey guys, just started working at att and i requested the tilt as my company phone. well i got it yesterday, but i am completely pda/smartphone illiterate..
and i have been skimming over this forum but it minus well have been written in chinese...
so i read that quick gps is already loaded on the phone? i went through file explorer and couldn't find it anywhere... did i over look it?
also, the phone seems really laggy... from the screen switching from potrait to landscape... and there seems to be alot of lag in pressing the numbers on the touchscreen.
i've seen all the rom flashes and such... but is there a dummy guide to flashing the rom? do i download it onto my comp then move it over using active sync? does it matter what folder i put it under?
sorry for the stupid questions, but i tried my best to read through the threads but i couldn't seem to absorb anything...

mail me your phone, ill put quickgps on it and whatever custom rom you want..

couple of things
first off, try advanced search for the kaiser thread
second, coming from att might get you banned here... seems anyone that mentions xda on att forums gets banned
(i for one have been happy with the customer service)
there are plenty of guides to flashing, but basically you need to be careful. hook up to active sync and install hardspl, it won't look like anything happened so verify that you did it. then you're ready to flash your rom of choice. I use XDA Live, just keep in mind that flashing is risky and so you need to read read read... I'd stick with the stock rom for awhile anyway
quickgps is under programs BTW

not really interested in the bee in the background but more the layout of the today screen... im guessing that would require a rom flash? it just looks so much cleaner then the standard today screen...

To make your screen look like that, background excluded, all you need to do is to fing HTC Home cab file and install it. You do not need to change the ROM. Search... grasshopper...er bumble bee

and does it work like a computer? like installing internet and aim?
and what is rom and cab?

My friend read the wiki,if not they are going to eat you..The best place to start is WIKI.

Black915, just wanted to tell you that you are one of the lucky few people who got those kind of answers on those kind of questions
and, yes - read GWENI - it all becomes clear in less than a day of reading.

At least read, then its ok to ask questions to confirm what you have read or if you are confused about anything. However, make sure you search before you ask as well so nobody stomps on you.

Why ask when the answer is posted all throughout this very forum? You will have your answer far faster if you use the search, wiki, or even the stickies. Every forum has at least one or more of these features.
I will be nice and save you the search this time.
1. You must flash to a 6.1 ROM as there is no "upgrade" or patch available. There are many posted in this forum that you can choose from. And please do not ask which is best as everyone has their own opinion. I have tried many before sticking to my current one.
2. An update to Office and threaded SMS was added to 6.1. If you do not use Office or don't care for threaded SMS, then 6.0 will be fine for you.
Just noticed that my pet peeve #3 applies to this thread

Vanilla ROMs?

Are there even any more Vanilla/plain ROMs around? All I see are based off Diamond, Xperia, and the Raphael.

No but what I meant is that can't we have a vanilla ROM somewhere in the mix too? What if I don't want all the extras? Hmmph... Guess I'll have to use the normal HTC ROM then...

We can and do have Vanilla ROMs, You just have to open your eyes and look.
By typing this next sentence I am going against my every fiber and answering the unanswerable; maybe that makes me a hypocrite. But if you want a "Vanilla ROM" Look for "lite roms" or "nothrills' releases"

Yeah I know we have vanilla/lite/nothrills ROMs, but they're all based on some other device, usually Raphael, Xperia, or Diamond. How about a vanilla 6.1 based on Kaiser?

Erm, weren't the last 2 ROMeOs (v3.1 and/or v3.5) based on stock Kaiser ROMS?

There are a ton of light (vanilla) roms if you just take the time to look

Two of my favorite light 6.1 roms are Sleuth255's v3.0 and kyphur's v3.0
Anyway, just look through the wiki link and find one that suits your needs.
EDIT: By the way, both Sleuth's and kyphur's 3.0 roms are based off a rom made for the 'kaiser'

C'mon guys. There are plenty of lite "kaiser" roms. There are just no brand spanking new ones.

I'm using a MDA Vario III (well known over here i guess ), and I'm searching for a new WM6.1-ROM (touch diamond copy's) with "The perfect" working radio for T-Mobile in the Netherlands.
i just can't find a good one..
my requirements for this ROM:
- video-driver-issue must be fixed or not be a problem
- quick-gps must be inside the rom
- i would like to have the TouchDiamond-skin and all of it's app's
- must be stable of course
- some nice app's would be nice
(most advanced rom for the tytnII is an option too)
I searched the topics, but i just can't find what rom meets my requirements
i hope someone finds one!

Dude use the search, it sounds like you want someone to do the work for you, most people are very willing to help but only if they see you are trying.

You have to be willing to do some of the things on your own as well instead of just asking and receiving. This forum is about cooking your own ROMs. Granted, I am still a fresh noobie when it comes to being a chef but I'm avidly trying my darndest to locate and edit what files I want changed etc. You have to be willing to give a little to get a little.

Windows Theme

Hello All!
Before some of you start blasting me, I have searched and Googled everywhere for a 2.2 ROM with a theme that might be simliar to Windows Mobile 6.5. I like it because it has a clean look with the missed calls and appointments available for the home screen. I thought I saw one ROM theme once that had one very similar to the WM 6.5, but after searching everywhere, I couldn't find it. If it is out there, please point me in the correct direction? But if so, I am actually willing to pay for a theme similar to Windows Mobile. I am currently running VirusROM with SENSE. Thanks for your help!

Sorry, I clicked on the wrong section. By the way, there is no need to be a prick. Like the first responder, all you had to do was leave it to what he said.

I made a Windows-ish theme but it was for 2.1, might work on 2.2, all you can do is try it.
It was my first attempt ever at a theme, so it wasn't anything spectacular. I'll find you the link.

Ack: to each his own Android's homescreens can be set as simple or complex as you want.
BUT look for "Zune Home" in the market. That may be near what you want.

Honestly, I think what I am really looking for is a widget for the home screen so I can see the information similar to Windows Mobile 6.5 (Missed Calls and Mail/Messages). That is all I am looking for. I'd love to be able to use my SENSE ROM. I have even tried Executive Desktop (or whatever it is) and e-Today, but they didn't quite fit what I was looking for (although e-Today was close).
