Bought a video out cable, but there's no software on the Raphael at all indicating to start video with an external display, is there a pre-installed program I don't have? Anyone want to help me out and throw a cab on here? Thanks a lot.
The app you need is found in settings, not in the programs folder... Go figure.
Try this cab, but I'm not too confident that I've picked up all the registry entries that you'll need...
You should get a popup as soon as you plug in the TV-Out cable

Wow, you're the man... The FM radio software, and this worked too.
Gimme some donation info.
Oh, and one more thing... it has a flicker, and I know you said this in your post about the TV-Out:
"here was a bit of flicker when using the "Qtv Display" option, but the "DirectDraw" option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly."
Where can I edit that setting, considering I have nothing under the "settings" tab to do it? Is there a reg edit I could make to flip between the 2? Thanks.
Ha! thanks very much for the thought, but I don't do nearly enough around here to start accepting donations!
The flicker I was referring to was only when using CorePlayer on it's "QTv" setting. If you're getting a flicker in all apps, then I'm not quite sure what the problem is.
Do you get a window asking you to choose between PAL and NTSC output when you plug the TV-Out cable in to your device? You should, but if you don't then there *should* be a TV-Out icon in the "System" Tab of your settings screens where you can set the output?
If not then I was right in thinking that I've probably missed something in the cab...

The popup does appear and shows NTSC/PAL, I choose NTSC of course... But still the flicker is there. Not sure what it could be, maybe I'll investigate.
But as for now, it's pretty bad... Lines going down the screen constantly, not even worth watching.
Hmmm, I'll have a better look and see if I can find something I've missed.
Maybe give it a go on Pal if you think your TV might support it, and see if it's still flickering?
All better! Connected again, flickering is non-existent. Didn't change a thing, so that's kinda weird...
Weird, but definitely good!
Glad it's working, maybe just a loose connection the first time around...

Haha well I also realized I was getting a text msg and the phone was close to the TV... I think a lot of times, like speaker noise, TV's react to the cell phone when it's being used. Either way, I was streaming slingbox from the Canadian who let me test it... He lives West coast, BC, and I live East coast... Looked really good, I'm definitely impressed.

Hi Guys. What version of CorePlayer are you using? I have v1.2.5build 4506 - I have the "flicker" issue with CorePlayer using TV-Out but dont apear to have a option of switching between Qtv and DirectDraw? Are these settings found under "Settings - TV Out" or in the settings for the CorePlayer version that your using?

OK I'm having a weird problem... perhaps somebody could test it out on theirs to see if it's a problem with the rom or something I've installed/tweaked that is causing it.
For my "new text message" notification settings normally have all 4 options ticked ie a sound played, a message on screen, the light flashing (which I set to no limit) and vibrate.
However on my Raphael when I set it like this all I'm getting is the light flashing and the message on the screen - no sound or vibration I've been playing with it a bit and I've noticed that if I clear the tick for flash light and just have the other 3 options ticked I get the sound and vibration back! Is this the same for everyone else?
60 views to this thread and nobody's even tried it yet... come on guys! PLEASE!!!
Tested
Just set the notifications like yours and sent a message from another phone.
Worked as expected. Action button is doing it's spinning light thing. It vibrated and play the selected tune. But there was no specific on screen message (I haven't used the tweak to wake up on new message.) although it was indicated by a number appeared next to the text message icon.
Hope that helps
I always tick all of those boxes for "New E-Mail", "New MMS" and "New Text Message".
All three have been beeping, vibrating, and flashing as expected. Not 100% sure about the on-screen message, but I think that's ok too.
Not sure what to suggest to get it working properly on your device. On the "Sounds" tab of "Sounds & Notifications" do you have "Events" ticked? No idea if that makes a difference, but I ticked that out of habit...
Hmm.... I do have the events thing ticked too so It's not that. I just tried with no message on screen and it still didn't work properly. It's definitely something to do with the flashing light setting that is causing the sound and vibration to fail.
I'll hard reset later, set it up back how it is now and test the messaging each step of the way to see if I can find out what's causing it.
OK I've done the hard reset and found the culprit. It's caused by installing the cab file for 1-calc lite! Shame cos I really like that calculator and it does look nice on the Raphael's screen
Uninstalling 1-calc doesn't fix it either. Gonna have to hard reset it AGAIN now lol
Oh by the way thanks Lazy Slug and Sub69 for testing yours and reporting back to me
Hmm looks like I was wrong, I have done a hard reset not installed 1-calc at all this time and have started having the same problem again. 1-calc might not be the cause of it after all (I hope so cos I like it) or (god forbid) there might be something else as well as 1-calc that causes it.
Looks like I need to do more testing...
1-Calc Lite
For what it's worth, I also had 1-Calc lite installed.

(PM me if you want some test messages sent to you. I never use my monthy allowance!)
lol I wouldn't exactly call myself a guru of video recording, I hardly ever do it in fact, I just know my stuff about it
For what it's worth:
- I have the K-Lite codec pack installed on my PC which I've found resolved practically all PC video playback issues and comes with some pretty nifty tools like that G-Spot program I mentioned in the other thread. (which you've obviously read ) You can get that here
- I've got Pinnacle Studio 10 platinum edition (commercial software which I paid for) for editing and encoding my home movies off my dv camcorder.
- I use a lot of the free software from this page for quick video conversions, very good software considering they're freebies
- I also have an old Archos AV400 Pocket Video recorder with 80gb Hard drive, which can encode mp4 at 640x480 30fps from any video input source in realtime I Haven't used it for ages but I think I might dig it out again now! This device is about 4-5 years old now, there are probably much better ones about now... check out www.archos.com!
Oh and don't worry about sending me messages, I can send them to myself (I bet you didn't know you could do that!) and I'm on Solo 20 with unlimited texts.
Perfect info. Seen a few people on the train with the Archos - seems a pretty good player.
I'll give K-Lite a go today. Many Thanks

Right back to the topic, I hadn't really had any time to do more work on this until now. However, I've just done another hard reset and not tweaked anything or installed anything and I still had the problem.
I have finally figured out what's causing it though, and I'm 100% sure I'm right this time!
I normally use the Nokia SMS sound which comes with the Hermes' Faria-R32/Dr Puttingham rom. This is a midi file. If I select any other file type as the sound for my text messages they play fine with light, vibration and on-screen message too. So I tried changing it to "T-Mobile 1" (also a midi file from the Stock WM6 Vario II rom) and all I got was the light and on-screen message again.
So I've reached the conclusion that if you have a midi sequence selected as your text message alert, the sound and vibration will only occur if you don't choose to have the light flashing... strange but true! This is probably also the case for any other event type as well as text messages.
Midi files work fine on my Hermes though. I wonder if the Diamond has the same problem and it just hasn't been discovered yet, after all I can't imagine many people would choose a midi file as their alert... I'm just weird
Just found out it's the same for .aac files, they don't work properly either! .wav and .wma files appear to be the only ones that work perfectly.
Do mp3s work correctly? i hope so because a majority of my rings are either .wav or mp3
thx
Oh yeah, I forgot to try mp3s Just tested one and they're ok
My WiFi shuts off every time my screen blanks out. I can see this being good if I were on battery, but personally only use WiFi when plugged into A/C. Is there a registry edit that'll change this 'feature' and leave WiFi running?! Thanks!
Yeah, that fix would be nice!
I noticed that Skype by-passes idle-mode in it's software and that's one way to fix it. To bad that not all apps do that...
If you use it only when charging, you can configure your cruise to stay on when the device is charging.
Mi cruise is in Spanish, so i will translate the options as i think it must be in english.
Go to START, CONFIGURATION, SISTEM, ENERGIE, ADVANCED
And there you can configure the options to turn off the device when is on battery and when it is charging.
Hope it will be usefull.
That was an answer to a different question, perhaps someone will find your tip useful. Thanks though.
The question is how to stop WiFi from shutting off when the screen blacks out, whether or not it's plugged into AC.

Hi, Benjimen, did you check Schap's Advanced Config 3.2.0.0, there are some settings for Wifi. I haven't tweaked/tested any of them since I don't use much of Wifi. Hope it may help you.
Thanks -- I've read about that, but haven't tried it. Was really hoping someone knew the registry tweak to accomplish it, looks like I'm out of luck though
It sounds like you're 'guessing' it might be a feature? Does anyone who has tried the program actually know and care to post factual info? I took a look at the info for the software, and it does't appear to be one of the tweaks, at least not in the example screens.

you can get programs which just turn off the screen
which would leave the wifi on
but the device run out of batt pretty fast if it's
not suspented

Thank you 02xda2, I found a tweak in the thread you linked to, the registry entries did the trick! Here they are for anyone who might be interested:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1

If you need to change it back, the default entry for all of them (at least on my Cruise) was set to 4

Thanks, but I got it with just the registry entry. I've always had bad luck with the do-it-all tweaker programs, at some point set something I shouldn't and mess something up.

I just found the ultimate bug and I believe this bug is responsible for G-Alarm and pTravelalarm not working. These alarm programs set the system volume to a predefined value, no matter where it was before (off, for example).
Why the heck does the PHONE RINGER volume influence the SYSTEM volume?
Check out the video:
here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBZAkJwDHT0
Can this be fixed in Windows? Reg-Hack?
Anyone here with a AT&T Fuze that can test this please? Is my hardware defective? I'm still within the 30 days to return that sucker if it is.
Thanxxx

I suspect it is related to the latest AT&T stock rom. I hope someone with a brand new AT&T version can test this. If it's just a rom problem, then I can probably flash mine but I don't want to try that right now and lose warranty if I'm not sure...
here's my latest video that shows directly how crucial this bug is to any alarm program:

Yeah sure, no problem. I just thought a picture says more than 1000 words and a video says even more. But here in plain English:
Starting up the OZ IM Messenger Client on the AT&T Fuze (or worse, having it autostart with the system) completely screws up the system volume settings. Suddenly the RINGER volume slider also influences the SYSTEM volume. Say you turn your ringer volume all the way down but you still want to listen to mp3's in Windows Media... nada. If you set your phone to silent or vibrate and have a nice alarm program like G-Alarm installed, the alarm will go off but no sound out of the speaker!
After closing down OZ IM you still have to soft-reboot to get your system sounds back.

Is there a newer version of the OZ IM available that doesn't f*** up the system volume? That company's website doesn't even allow you to contact anyone, let alone check for updates or get support
Here's the newest development in this case.
Tried a different OZ IM (verizon version) last night and the sound bug was GONE. BUT I got errors connecting. Found out that there is a config file with verizon gateway in it, replaced it with the AT&T one. Still an error. Different one though (404). Re-installed the original AT&T version. Sound bug back immediately
Just overwrote the .exe file with the one from Verizon: Sound bug gone but again connection error 404...
WTF?
Anyone have a different AT&T version besides the obviously screwed up 2.0.84 M ?
So, as the title says, I have the N1 resting in the dock and charging. I want to use Google Talk so I tap the home button and open Google Talk. Between the tap on the home icon and anywhere after the Nexus One will automatically return to the clock app. I can tap home again and randomly it will again return to the clock.
Is there a way to a) disable the clock (I'll miss it, but it's almost frustrating enough to never use it again) or b) disable return to the clock app? I don't see any settings to accomplish this so it's probably some power user trick. I don't think this is occurring because the N1 is losing contact with the dock while I'm tapping as it's resting pretty solid in the dock.
Any ideas?
I guess you could put a small piece of tape over the middle pin and that should prevent it from going into the Clock app but still allow it to charge.
try dock nothingness from the market, it will let you select it and when its docked it wont open anything.

I don't think the app will stop working because it is not a hack, it's using documented and officials Sticky BroadcastReceivers for detecting the dock, opening "Dock Nothingness" instead, however, the "Dock Nothingness" app is nothing, so it closes it self right away giving the user the illusion of the phone not really opening anything
When I read the thread topic, I was like "yeah, its damn frustrating!".

For some reason the dock won't allow to auto-connect when in range, it does this for other devices, like headsets....
I know DEX isn't supported. When trying to force desktop mode w/ a various Usb-c HDMI dongles nothing happens.
Q: Do we actually know if this is a Samsung hardware limitation or lock out in the software/kernel?
I'd think it's gotta be a software/firmware limitation, as the hardware can seemingly handle it.
My guess is Samsung did this w/the battery capacity in mind, not wanting to field any complaints about poor battery life while using DeX/desktop mode.
Did you enable ALL of the required settings in Developer Options?
Now that you mentioned it, I also vaguely remember reading somewhere that this one doesn't do video out from the USB-C. That may also be a part of it.

After doing some investigation, there is no video out on this phone. Unfortunately, that means it likely won't ever work. That said, here are the other two options that would normally be used:
"Force activities to be resizable" allows resizing any app in multi-window, which helps if you were to resize them on the psedu-DeX view
"Enable freeform sizecompat" helps with apps that have compatibility settings that might break freeform with the standard option.
I purchased that NexDock Touch just after the Note 20 Ultra. I haven't gotten around to testing it with this one, but DeX was one of the harder things to give up.

The (likely) reason there is no video out is the cover. That is identified as a second screen, just like any connected to DeX. Being the first time the outside screen is a legitimate screen, Samsung probably couldn't get together the software to both limit the outside screen AND fully support an external display. The easiest solution would be disabling the ability altogether.
Does the Fold support DeX? That should give a pretty good indication of future possibility, but not until a future generation. The best we'll get on this one would be unlocking the cover and some sort of wireless screen share.
Multi-displayThe Force desktop developer option enables you to turn on system decoration support on all secondary displays. Force desktop mode also displays a mouse pointer on the secondary displays instead of on the default display. When used with the Enable Freeform windows developer option, Force desktop simulates a desktop experience with multi-window mode and the ability to resize windows.

Looks like part of the issue is the cover screen blocking it
I use adb/scrcpy as kind-of 2nd screen workaround on my PC.
Simulate a 2nd Screen with your desired resolution on the phone and then use scrcpy to push this simulated screen to my PC. It crashes the phone sometimes - just reboot.
Not a Dex solution, but sth you can write emails with and use the browser.

Yeah I tried that too, not bad at all!
Seem to work really good for movie content and office applications as you mentioned.
I tested some gaming and I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the software but I tried some emulation such as Super Mario Bros. 3 and I noticed a lot of "dropped" frames when jumping, could have something to do with the image compression. If it could find some setting fixing this would actually be a really good work-around, using something like a raspberry pi as the middle hand.

Well I am not playing. Using it for office stuff only and not very often. It is just too uncomfortable to set it up, reconfigure the phone and revert it all back afterwards.
The Flip is unfortunatly not made for it. A price I am happy to accept for the pocket-sized form ;-)
