So, XDA guys, when is a grouping for the new Palm Treo Pro gonna be setup?
WOW, i think this will be the KING OF DEVICES for now !
Some pictures: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/08/20/palm-treo-pro-unboxing-and-hands-on/
Ik hope the XDA developers will find a working CAB-file for voip calling over wifi AND 3G, and by using the internal speaker.
The Treo Pro is manufactured by HTC, by the way. So i hope this will help.
if i were you i'd ask it in this forum
About xda-developers.com
Anything to do more with the site than with the phones. Feature requests, announcements, praise, moaning, etc.
Yep, it's going to be made by HTC. This device will ROCK!

Palm Treo Pro Forum
As it is produced by HTC, maybe the first step is to get a forum for it on XDA Developers ?
See the unboxing video: http://mobilitytoday.com/articles/palm_treo_pro_unboxed.html
This is the next God device.
Palm have the design right but in the past years they just seemed to pop out the same devices over and over. I'm glad to see Wi-Fi, GPS and power at last.
You can tap yourself in the back this time, you really deserve it!

"It looks like HTC made the Palm Treo Pro. I think this is great news for the Treo Pro buyer because HTC is a proven player in the touch screen Windows Mobile market. Another thing is that the excellent resources at XDA Developers may be able to support customizations of the device for those who like to tweak things."
up
and one more for the palm treo pro forum
O.K. I had the possibility to make a test with this device !
I can confirm: this is really the KING DEVICE for now ! It has a really perfect size in your hands. Less PDA and more smartphone (but with all PDA functionalities)
But bad news too: As it is produced by HTC voip calling has the HTC/Fring bug: it uses the speaker on the back and not the earspeaker which should be
Voip calling over 3G didn't work too: you can dial a number, you can pick up the other line and there is a connection, but the line is DEAD, no sound both connections
For testing I used this files: http://voipguides.blogspot.com/2008/05/voip-sip-client-for-windows-mobile-6.html
Has anyone else Pre-ordered they Treo Pro? I just ordered mine this week and can't wait for shipping. I have heard over on Treocentral that someone has already received the device. I am hoping that America side starts shipping next week!!
I have my Treo Pro for a few days now, I really hope there will be an XDA forum for the Treo Pro (850).
Meanwhile, I've started a new website with tips and tricks: http://www.treoprotricks.com

Another vote for a Treo Pro forum.
Mine shipped overnight on UPS to Chicago - just got tracking number!
i bought my treo pro yesterday and im pretty happy with it
there were several things i would have made in a different way like a mini-usb connector instead of an micro-usb one but at least its some standarized connector
still mini usb would be more practical
a seperate forum for the treo would be nice
right now i am fighting with the installations of my progs
most of the times an current version of software will solve problems with the 320*320 screen
one kind of program i am still looking for is a replacement for novii remote
i was hoping to be able to use the infrared port as a rc...
I just got mine a couple of hours ago, am enjoying playing with it. I too hope they start and Treo Pro forum...will be helpful.
als long as there is no new forum for this phone i will keep posting interesting stuff i find out about my treo pro here
one very annozing thing i found out was:
- while listening to music with the screen off i heard short interruptions which after i checked it occured exactly every minute
- to "fix" this you have to disable the screen saver (the clock and date display on the deactivated screen) in settings>system>power options (might be called slightly different but sorry i only have a german device)
this is a pity that you have to do this in order to listen to music without problems
but it annoyed me after a while that much that i finally can live with that
I have really enjoyed playing this this new toy this weekend (the heck with the homework!)
Anyway, a couple of things and maybe one of you can help me out. I so wanted to use UL but when I installed I can't see all of the configuration pages and there are no scroll bars for me to scroll down to finish the configuration. Very Frustrating.
Also I tried the RealVGA cab and it messed up my today screen really bad, plus it made everything so tiny I couldn't read it with out my reading glasses, not good for me. So that didn't work.
Also there is a huge lack of themes for the Treo, I never realized the huge difference between this and a regular 240x 320 screen.
Anyway for right now I am using Home++ Floyd Base Theme, and using SecondToday to run my WeatherPanel and FaceContacts.
So far I am liking this new toy...I am getting use to the keyboard but I will get there and I love the screen! I was actually outside today in the sun and could see it and read my emails!

^^exactly my thoughts too today
i also must admit that its a bit frustrating to see how many programs have problems with 320*320...
the good thing is that everything i need is available in a version which runs smoothly most of the times(except tomeraider3 which has graphic bugs and the search only works with the softwarekeyboard -.-)
i als might add that the audio skip problem occured to me while using mortplayer as my mp3 player app...
so far im still playing around with this little fella
what caught my attention was that the treo pro uses around 60mA of current while in my typical ebook reader setup(backlight dimmed to the max but stiil on)
this could mean a decent battery runtime but its hard to say after just 3 days
the first impression is rather positive though

Hummm will have to check out the audio players...I hate to say it but I just don't use that or video players I do like You Tube, but for music and videos I have my Zune.
I am having a problem getting my skyfire reinstalled...am still trying to get the kinks out of that one, and I have sent a request to someone to try and get a couple of themes made for this here new toy...since I am completely helpless with anything graphic. I have some new Dexter wallpapers and want themes made out of them and I got some great Icons for it too..I NEED to get this UL issue resolved so I can get this thing looking good or as the kids would say "I need to pimp out my phone"
EDIT: Here are a couple of screen shots not done yet
GPS Working
So I fired up his baby this morning, to check out the GPS. I use to use an external bluetooth receiver with TomTom on my T-mobile Wing. Usually took at least 2 minutes to get a signal. I turn on the TomTom this morning used other GPS Com4 and it took under a minute to get a signal in my apartment!! Way cool! So now I need to find a reason to go driving and get some use out of this.

I start to hate Raphael. There is everything inside, but nothing, that can I normally use without problems. I am now on a bussiness trip,I was testing GPS while driving...****!!! Absolutely useless, 70% of time without satellites,25% with unacurrate positio(more than 200m away of the road),only 5% of the time that was working normally(quiet). Now I am on the hotel and viola! I can connect to wifi, but after some seconds rhe network is unavailable and it is still connecting/disconnecting all the time round and round. This text I am writing from my laptop, where Wifi is working correctly(50% of available signal strength and the router is located 10m away from me behind the door). What the hell is the HTC nowadays? Raphael should be NOT a lowend, but as it seems,it is!!! This company starts to sucks.
Has anyone same problems with wifi as me? I have wifi set to maximum performance, but still sucks.
You really seem pissed at HTC mate... I dint have any issues with mine so far though... Note that the Wifi receiver on your laptop is always better than on your phone. If its 50% on the laptop then it can't be within like 10 metres or there must be loads of obstacles...

Your wifi receiver will NEVER be as good as the equivalent from a laptop/pc. Remember if you wanted maximum wifi performance just like your laptop then your battery life will be VERY poor.
Remember dude this device is what?...a MONTH old? There are ALWAYS problems with HTC devices when they are stock, give the thing time to be developed for properly here.

So what if it's about a MONTH old?! It should work flawlessly when you take it from the box! That's why you've paid a lot of money.. not to wait for PARTIAL 3rd-party solutions that can avoid your warranty!
I see a lot of issues, a lot of unhappy people, etc etc.. will actually htc take an action to resolve all those bugs (I think the majority are software related) or they will close their eyes like usual (see previous device and htc attitude)?
if htc will do exactly nothing about those problemes, I think the only solution is to announce the mass of their stupid ignorance. i'm really upset and had enough of it.
I've made a topic with some of most common problems of htc touch pro. If noting gonna change i will forward that topic (including some other from here) to all the big mobiles news site (gsmarea, mobile-review, coolsmartphone, engadget, etc) to spread the real news about their latest overpriced devices. And should I mention about the previous devices? And about their care for their costumers? Nah.. THIS MUST BE STOPPED! It's time to correct their problems or drop it!
REALLY PISSED OF WHAT HTC HAS BECAME.
If you want great out-of-the-box phone, dont buy HTC.
Sorry, but thats just the way things are. My TyTN was almost unusable out of the box...
As far as I know, that no PPC from HTC was usable right out-of-the-box. Beginning with Himalaya, which WM2003 was unable to wake me up in that time, that alarm was set(yes,4 years of developing makes the device almost perfect),via Hurricane sold as SDA II(unusable without skills in WM,now it is pretty good),to this piece of terrible device. I bought Raphael due to presence of technologies,I want to use. Without these technologies,I can keep my lovely Himalaya, that is working perfectly. Only some devices I know, was problemless and they have all working, that I was expected:Typhoon and Oxygene. So my favorite HTC's are all the time Himalaya and Typhoon/Feeler/Sonata and all other PPC's branded by HTC origin sucks. HTC is no more the old good HTC,that we know without its own mark(beginning with Hermes as TyTN...OMG that was a big s..t).

OK, sorry a bit of a weird title but this is what I mean. I am getting my XDA Serra tomorrow, xmas present and will want to start getting some cool apps on there straight away. So if anyone else out there has the O2 XDA Serra I was hoping for some quick hit advice to get me started.
To set the seen, the last device I had was a Jasjar (universal) liked it a lot, but when it packed up on me over 18 months ago i have not even looked at another phone (except for my old trusty 6230i), took the plunge and got myslef a serra for xmas but not allowed to have it until tomorrow.
so...
1. First I want to load up with some tunes, and a decent player, with configurable playlists. What apps are people using on this device for this.
2. Also want a decent video player. Used a DivX variant on the universal and it was amazing but what are people finding cool on the serra.
3. I guess I will need a decent file explorer too, think I used Resco before, for ftp and file search etc. What are people using for this.
4. Now this might need a thread on it's own, but I have a Tom Tom go which sadly has packed up on me, is there anyway that I can use the siftware from the Go rather than buy the software again, or are there better Sat Nav options?
That will get me started. Any suggestions are welcome, please.
Sorry for calling it the Serra, I think it is the Raphael, but wanted to be clear this is what I have as I believe the UIs are different.
Cheers, Shire
the best Player, S2U oc , for Divx Movies, try Tcpmp or coreplayer as for the sat, iGO FTW!
I have just upgraded from O2 XDA Orbit 1 to 2 and would like to update the ROM, would like to get some advice before I do...
can I use the WWE 6.1 Update from HTC to update and "de-brand" my phone or do I need to use the O2 version ?
I was using Artemis Touch 3.0.1 Lite (With Mobile 6.1) on my old phone, and i love the look and the functionality of it, I was hoping the Orbit 2 was the same sort of thing but quicker and more stable, from a lot of posts here it seems that isn't the case ? Is there a cooked ROM that is as stable and functional as 3.0.1 Lite or should I stick with the factory ROM ?
What about Tomtom ? Version 6.01 does everything I want, is there any point in going to 7, ie fresher maps or whatever ?
What are peoples recommendations for making sure the jog dial rubber ring stays in place ? Is it worth pulling it off and fixing it on with superglue or gasket silicone or something else ?
Also, should I hang on to my old Orbit for a few weeks - just in case ...
looking forward to spending some more time on XDA-devs..
GF
If i were you i would go definitely to orbit 2, its fast and has every fetaures that you will need day by day.
You can flash cooked rooms to your taste.
About the tomtom, yes its worth upgrading too, the new tomtom7 has more improvements, and the maps are more detailed and more updated. Im going just to warn you , DONT REQUEST NO MAPS in this forum you will get banned.
good point

Well thanks for the info. I did get my Orbit 2... and surprise surprise the rubber ring ws missing...
And so I started on a painful run of trying to get a nice clean ROM similar to Meschle's Touch ROM on the Orbit. I chose an older ROM, Bepe's (Polaris_WWE_0.67_Standard_bepe) and thought hell, in for a penny, Id upate the Radio at the same time , as trawling through this forum heard good reports about the recent update Polaris_Radio_1.64.08.21 . Well I have now reflashed about 15 times, 3 different ROMs and 5 different Radios, trying to get one which WORKED... I mean it all looked good but either reception was awful or the speaker would buzz horribly, and the speaker would go off altogether. I went through all the radios, then went back to O2's original 6.1 update, and even then something was up with the reception/speaker. I thought that I had been sold a lemon. I thought ah hell lets try one of the recent ROMS, I had happened to download Syrius R4, and fook me, what a piece of work, and I love the Manila, all I can say is congratulations on an amazing ROM. I don't care for clean any more. I will even live with the dodgy looking clock. Because it is like the eye-phone in that it just works, and its all just logical, I love it ! Even text entry is superb with the new QWERTY keyboard. The radio is now at 1.59.42.15, and that seems rock solid, gps fix times are good, TT7 up and running, migrated traffic from old machine, came back here to say thanks udK !!
Oh yeah and after using the phone for 1 day I managed to crack the digitizer , in the top right corner, but it all seems to be working fine, I won't be forking out £60 for the repair till I REALLY need to...
gf
Thank to hear you that everythng it sorted out. its really a magnificent mobile. Do you till got that buzzy sound from the speaker? And that about the digitalizer thats bad, cause its more fragile now, if you have the mobile in your pocket and you apply more pressure u can break the rest of it
Well I picked up my Arrive this morning and I have to say I'm extremely impressed! I am coming from Android (EVO & Epic) and think that Microsoft has something here with mobile 7. I believe I like it better than Android so far. Well built device, seamlessly synced with all my accounts including my Google calender, Netflix is awesome, love the tiles on the homescreen, size of the device is good, and the keyboard with the pop-up screen is perfect, better keyboard than the Epic....by far.
I was wondering what other Sprint users thoughts were now that the Arrive is released. Are you feeling the same way I am and did you come from Android?
EDIT: Windows mobile 7 is nothing like the old windows mobile....not even close!

I came from a Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.5.). I picked up one for my wife and one for myself, so far I am really digging it. It definately works very well, smooth.
Just like Cyclical, I also picked one up for myself and one for my wife. We've been spending all day playing with the phones. I still haven't fully figured out the tiles, but I personally come from the wonderful line of WM phones (Apache/6700, TP1, TP2). I've played with android in the past and I know lots of people who have android phones. The overall response I have gotten from those that know a computer from a cinder block is that Android is massively frustrating if you are used to XDA/PPCG kitchen roms for WM. Some went so far as to proclaim WM6.5.3 on TP2 as the most advanced phone they know of (this said 2 weeks ago). They have high expectations for the Arrive, and I can honestly tell them that they will not be disappointed.
Everything listed by the OP is spot on.
The Marketplace is definitely much larger than it was for WM5/6. The apps that I grabbed were all very useful (and free), which is a step above the spotty development that had previously been on the Marketplace.
Picked mine up Sunday as well. So far loving the device. Everything is fluid, fast, and has not had a single hickup throught my setup and customization.
Coming from a long line of Windows Mobile devices, while I will miss a few apps and abilities I have been able to do, (IRC, Wifi Router) I feel they will be around in time so it is no great loss. The Fantastic multimedia and games more than make up for it.
The only issue that vexed me is how in the heck Microsoft Created MyPhone for Windows Mobile devices, and it is completely separate from Windows Live. So there is no way to sync your MyPhone content to WP7 nor is there a way to select what you want to sync except e-mail from your live account.
It is a minor hickup and the Outlook Connector for Hotmail did work out ok, but I had to pretty much clear my old Live accounts contacts as it was a collection of people from long ago. What bums me out is there is no way to move or archive them like in MyPhone and currently there is no way to backup your Text Messages like MyPhone has done for a while now.
Either way besides that minor hurdle, everything is synced and smooth. I just now need to balance out my battery usage. The good thing is the Arrive uses the same battery as the TP2 and the EVO. Ebay sales quality batteries for around $2 and they perform a hair better than OEM ones. Great stuff.
Everything else about the phone that is positive from other reviews holds true to this phone as well so I will not repeat a bunch of stuff we already know. All I know is it is nice to finally have a phone that Just Works, is Smooth, Fast, and fun to use again without having to make it all work. I tried an EVO for a month and while I do enjoy its customizability and such, it just doesn't feel near as finished, fast, smooth, or overall reliable. I did run into the Texting Issue that it had at the end of last year and while it was minor, it was just another bug that among a number of others, just keep things from feelind Complete.
Arrive!
Coming from a string of Android devices, Hero, Moment, Transform, and Evo... I have to say I'm a little weirded out about NOT having an android device. I did get a BB Bold when they came out but I went right back to android. We got this phone in our store a few weeks ago and while I haven't been able to use it as my only device, I have had a good run with it.... Like y'all, I'm heavy into customization and roms with anroid. (haven't used winmo since the original blackjack) So here's my take so far...
Gmail on Android is the best email experience ever! Windows PHone gets the job done well, I'd say between BB and Android...
No way I've found to turn 'mobile data always on' like on Htc android devices...
No compass! (sounds goofy as ****, but that's the second main reason I returned the BB Bold)... I do use it.
Camera Apps..... I'd really like to be an amateur photographer and love the camera apps for android.... (THE main reason for returning the Bold)... but I think I'm just going to use an old hero I have for out and about pictures (both my dslr and regular slr bit the dust so I rely on the Evo for pictures, but when I found out I was getting the arrive I sold it) ............
Camera isn't on par with Evo, Shift or Hero... Not even close. Again, I use my phone A LOT for pictures.
Speed test app??????????????? (again, this will come, I hope)
Can't use custom ringtones or notification sounds out the box... not a biggie because I use default ringtones, but I HATE the default notifications on all phones. I use the 'Facebook Pop' sound from the android app because it's simple, low key and not annoying as hell. So, I need to be able to use another notification sound.
Can't sideload music... have to go through Zune. Bummer. I have Linux Mint on my computer, Chrome/Ubuntu on my laptop and Mint on my wife's laptop. I'm screwed.............
I honestly think the UI is one of the best around... Fluid, solid and well thought out. It makes sense... instead of hitting MENU for everything, just slide over... I like it.
No freezing or locking up.... so far.... really stable.
One of the best hardware keyboards... ever.
Loud.
Touch is surprisingly good! I figured it would take a while to get right, but no. It's nice!
Being a long time google user, bing will take some getting used to... unless a hack to remap the search button can be directed to google......
voice dialing works well...
XBOX and NETFLIX.............................. Why would anyone even question the awesomeness of this??? Worth it... Well worth it!
There are some negatives, and Winmo has a bad rap, but damn, this is almost a sexy UI. It really doesn't leave much to be desired once you use it for a few days. this isn't your daddy's windows phone....

I think that's really the crux of the issue. I come from a long history of tinkering with WM5, WM6, and Android on the HTC Apache, Vogue, Touch Diamond, and Hero. I have spent more hours than I care to think about trying to tweak and improve the stock functions of those phones, all with the goal of having a fast, stable phone. The sad thing is that despite my best efforts, there was never a point at which I was happy with those phones. Sure I added features (I remember how excited I was when I applied an A2DP hack on the old Apache) but stability and performance were never good.
By comparison, WP7 as you said just WORKS. I never have to worry about memory management or closing out programs. The launcher always opens apps quickly and I can access and send SMS and make calls quickly without delay (unlike my Hero). Is it full-featured? Of course not. The biggest omission IMO is a fast app switcher; I find myself spending more time than I would like trying to game the workflow of app openings to take advantage of fast "rehydrating" using the back button. But that's it. I don't need WiFi tethering, and Flory and GoVoice do quite nicely for Gtalk and Google Voice. And Sprint TeleNav takes care of GPS navigation. The biggest thing is I feel no need to root or flash a new ROM just to make it work with CORE functions. I'm VERY happy with it.

The only compass apps availible are GPS based. Microsoft has said the compass api is availible but no one has utilized it yet.
It seems that HTC has a compass app that DOES use the hardware and not GPS. It wasn't there last week when I checked!

Couldn't agree more with you and the other posts. Loving WP7! My one minimal complaint is the side charging port. No big deal, but sucks if you try to pick it up and use it while plugged in.
Custom Ringtones????
I picked up the Arrive yesterday for my wife because i just couldn't give my EVO up but I wanted a wp7 phone. Anyways I have to agree with almost everyone here, sexy UI, fast, digging the tiles, and all the good love blah blah blah. I'm a XDA fanatic and a flashaholic and is killing me to not be able to load custom ringtones to the Arrive like i do in my Evo. I hate the stock ringtones it comes with. Does anyone have a solution, workaround, hack, zip, file, ritual, plan, anything to get this done?? Thanks
Deleted content, was more appropriate to a different thread...
I am a die hard WM user - never used any other OS. Was awaiting WP7 for months!
It is a dumb blonde! Pretty, but useless.
1. Keyboard is good, but no option to longpress for numbers
2. Phone dialler - no option to dial name of contact on phone dialler
3. Can't search calendar for specific appointments
4. Office hub is useless - can't organize in folder, ending up with loooong list of documents.
5. Word mobile is hopeless for formatting compared to WM6.5
6. Adobe PDF documents - can't be organized in folders. Can't even rename files
7. No video calling

6.5
Stay with a WM 6.5 device. I kept my FUZE but after some time with the Focus would NEVER use it or any other WM device again. I felt a lot like you do at first, but that quickly wore off the more I used WP7. If you already bought it and feel the way you do, sell it and get something else. I used to see a lot of rants like this months ago but see almost no posts like yours recently. I think you should have posted this months ago, you might have found some allies, but not today.

Well said. I was going to say pretty much the same thing. I struggled going from WM to WP at first (I still miss swype dearly) but after a few days of WP7 I could never go back despite some shortcomings.
Goodbye 6.5
The things I thought I could not live without in WM6.5 have turned out to be silly. I don't know why I felt that way. Anyway, many apps I used on 6.5 are now available on WP7, and more coming daily. The news of the potential features in Mango take away many if not most of my concerns.
I think we need to remember that WP7 is very young still, iOS didn't have copy and paste also when it came out... Give it a year or so I'm sure WP7 will be up there.

My grouse is that WM 6.5 had so many features that have been stripped down to the point that WP7 is inconvenient. Why strip down Office to a bare minimum? Why remove the smart dialler in the phone? Why remove the long press for numbers in the keyboard? Why no USB functionality? Moreover, there are inconsistencies within WP7 itself. Why no voice GPS? E.g., why no search option in calendar? Why no zune support for synching data files? Why no wifi tethering?
I am not comparing WP7 to other OS. I am comparing it with Microsoft's own previous product. 6.5 to 7 is meant to be an upgrade, but it is actually a downgrade.
Why deliver a stripped down product when the previous product (6.5) had all these? And now, they have to catch up with "updates" with all the attendant bad publicity, and poor sales.
They had 3 years to get it right. They had at least 8 months in the beta testing when people clamored for copy-paste.
Stupid clowns.

That is a biggie, agreed. And let us not forget custom ring tones (sure you can sideload, but really MS screwed the pooch here).

In some important ways it is a downgrade, in other ways it is an upgrade. All in all WP7 may be better due to newer/faster hardware, yet the FAIL of lackluster Bluetooth integration, no rSAP, no custom ring tones, no way to sync files easily, no wireless tethering, etc, etc and yes etc is really a let down. MS always seem to go three steps forward and two steps back, then perhaps release ONE of the two 'lost' steps like it is a huge improvement and technology advancement. If MS does not get their act together and release what many consider normal features, the Android market will leave MS in the dust.
MS can do much better, so what is keeping them from reaching some simple goals every other major phone OS has been doing for many years (including MS' 6.x)? THAT is the real question.
I think the worst thing is the wifi sleep issue that no one can seem to find a fix for. I bought one a week ago and its been sitting in the box while I use my desire. I just can't use it properly without having the option to leave wifi on

I agree 100%. This issue and another big Wi-Fi issue are the bane of my existence on WP7. Anyone have trouble connecting to different Wi-Fi networks? This is by far the biggest nuisance I deal with. What I mean by this is, for example: I am at work all day connected to the office Wi-Fi. I come home and my Quantum refuses to connect to my home network. It tries to connect for about 15 seconds or so, then eventually gives up. The only way to get it behaving properly is to reboot the phone. Turning Wi-Fi off then back on, disassociating with all remembered networks, etc. all do nothing. Don't know if this is unique to me because there is just something specific about the networks I am connecting to that creates "The Perfect Storm" and throws the Wi-Fi off, or if this is a widespread problem. Either way, I can't wait until it is resolved.

I don't get this issue at all mate, i pretty much do the same - connect to a network at work, then go home, it automatically connects fine for me at either location. I also connect to Wifi networks at my parents and GF's mum's and it connects flawlessly to either one without any hassle.
Though i must admit, the ability to keep wireless on even when the phone goes to sleep is a must! It will however stay on if you plug the phone into its charger, though not always convenient.

I don't get this issue either except on my nook and I think my wireless router @ that location is the issue (pretty sure of it). The WPA only a select few ip addresses on certain mac addresses for some reason so if the address is taken by another device it doesn't connect I thought my router was smart guess I was wrong but once I forget the network and then reapply the security settings it connects, I have no problem with my other router.
After purchasing an Acer Iconia a500 , I realized that it isnt just WP7 users who whine and complain about the latest upgrades , its tech wide ! I mean some of the gripes you have are laudible ,but in the long run 6.5 is done , so if you long for that experience it wont last , sure theres still some people using Windows 98 , XP , but at some point it becomes so outdated it becomes useless, you will find wm 6.5 fits this category , sometimes you have to go back to go forward and that is the case with WP7 !
Trust me the "copy paste" function is useless , I havent even used it yet (or missed not having it) , As I said I have a tablet with Honeycomb on it , its really irratating hearing all the babies crying about updates , the damn OS has been out for a month and these crybabies are whining "it doesnt do this ,it doesnt do that" , the thing is like most devices that are new it will not have certain things right off the bat , yes the device can be rooted a plus , but somethings cant be changed yet , just like the missing api's wp7 , that stuff will come , theres so many talented people in XDA , JUST RELAX AND ENJOY THE RIDE!,

Cease with this being reasonable and level-headed immediately! If you continue with this behavior, I will report you to the Mods and request your immediate removal and ban! How can we be expected to have every thread ruined with incessant back and forth bickering, passive aggressive flaming, and pathetic trolling if behavior like yours is allowed to continue on this forum?
ehh this is why i never liked windows 7

how about you post something useful..
This guy has a lot of good points.
" OFFICE HUB"
is a joke
microsoft word is such a pain to use that formatting within the document is impossible!!
there is no way to save formatting. so If I need to write everything in red. I have to hit format every single time and then select an option. that along with the keyboard taking up the entire length of the document.
BLEH!
adobe reader is the slowest pdf viewer ive ever used!!! and i remember using an 8125 and reading pdfs on it..
The wifi issues are a pain!! they are so the carrier can force us to use there data plan. I want to use WIFI why did i buy the phone with wifi capabilities if it wont even stay on!!
The contacts are again a pain to search through.
there is no way to delete lines within a conversation..
Or Deleting multiple text messages.
Microsoft is really falling short on this one.

this has nothing to do with XDA.....
this has to do with Microsoft developing a poor operating software for my 499.99$ phone. This is a rant about the missing features that are obvious to a smart phone and you are saying relaxing dont worry.. this is what i purchased the phone for and it is severely lacking in a lot of areas.

If you were missinformed of what WP7 was and could do at the time of your purchase, its your own fault... grab your 499.99$ and take it back, problem solved.

I find it pretty funny people moaning about the lack of features WP7 has and how great Android and IOS are.
I had Android from the very start when hardly anyone knew what it was and i had that brick of a phone (although i quite liked it lol) called the G1.
Android was released on 1.0 software however i thought it was a practical joke no lie the battery would last 5 hours if you was lucky and the phone would heat up like a microwave oven besides the various other bugs etc including freezing up completely. It took Google 5 updates until we got the first named update "Cupcake" 1.5 before android was even half usable and had copy & paste etc. And to be honest it should of started on 1.5 so my G1 only got 1 decent update to 1.6.
Its the same with all the other android phones i have had the SE X10 did go from 1.6 to 2.3 only because legions of p*ssed off people including myself moaned at sony like there was no tomorrow when they said it would only get 2.1 (i think).
Etc Etc the point it Android is way too fragmented and buying a Android phone is like entering a lottery with regards to updates and added features etc.
Same with Apple it took them at least a year to add even copy & paste not too mention all the other stuff that was missing like MMS & Adobe Flash (ah yeah still ain't got that one).
Microsoft have given us a much better OS than both Google or Apple right off the bat and the amount of added features Mango is bringing is pretty amazing adding more stuff than 1 or 2 major android updates and even getting so things in the first year of WP7 that iPhone hasn't got after 5 years.
