WiFi doesn't connect to preferred network without poking it! - Touch Cruise General

My Touch Cruise has started to develop a strange tic. I'm using Bepe's 0.67 WWE ROM, and 1.64.08.21 Radio, and things worked fine for a long while.
Recently, my phone has stopped automatically connecting to WiFi when I switch it on. I get the notification telling me about networks it's found (not including my preferred network, generally), whether I switch that off in the settings or not, and no matter how many times I select "Do Not Show This Message Again". If I go to the WiFi settings, I can then select my preferred network and press Connect and it will connect (even if it claims it's unavailable!)
It's a pain, but it's not game breaking - I just need to manually connect to WiFi every time I switch on the phone at home. So, anyone have any ideas why my phone might suddenly be behaving like this, and how I can get it to automatically connect again like it used to? Thanks...

i have the same problem and no answer.
i think it's something with bepe's rom...
oh wait,
for a while i tested wefi and i think the
problem began after uninstalling wefi!

This happens to me occasionally on the standard dutch ROM too, not al the time though.

My wifi comes back ON automatically, why?

Hi all, once I turn OFF wifi on my SP5m, it sometimes comes back ON automatically, even though all my "internet applications" are shutdown/closed. It's as if an internet connection would still be needed somewhere on the phone?!... but once I turn it OFF again, it stays OFF this time! Why would it do that? How can I make sure it stays OFF once I actually turn it OFF?
Thanks all
highmighty
May be a bug? or a Feature ??
* Double check for all application shutdown
* Go on Comm Manager and disable it, wait for LCD go off now return on Comm Manager and check if wifi is on, than turn it off
I'm using bundled CeleTask to close all tasks and stop wifi, work, may be some time need to turn off wifi 2 times, (after the lcd turns on)
FYI, I'm using WM6 (perfect edition) and to me it looks like a bug, anyone else has this? It's very annoying cause I always have to double-check that wifi is OFF when i put my phone away... otherwise, it reconnects to my wifi network and drains my battery
Same over here
same here as well
but even before i flashed my dopod577w with imate sp5 rom i already experienced that problem
I have the same problem. SDA flashed w/imate
I do face that problem using AKU2 , sometimes
so does that mean it!s a known issue for both wm5 and wmó? anyone knows more about it? someone is working on a fix? thanks all
highmighty
This has plagued the SP5m in every firmware version I tried, except the factory one, and also in wm6.
Same thing on my qtek 8310 with any firmware. Always have to close Wifi two times.
I have a T-mobile SDA with its stock rom and it has the same problem. I think why the problem is happening is something to do with the setting that turns off wifi automatically to save power.
I have not experimented with it, but I think if you turn off the setting, you shouldn't have any problems anymore.

WiFi cannot work

Hi guys, recently, I don't get to use WiFi, the WiFi does not show up in the home screen, under communication manager, the WiFi is turned on, and the phone WiFi LED light is also turned on, but I don't get WiFi.
When I go to WiFi settings, I don't get to see the WiFi networks, what can I do to fix this ?
i have this problem too, and for a long time, since i first flashed my phone to WM6 to be exact. that's why i requested andot to fix the WWE version. no one seemed to take it seriously.
I accessed Celetask immediately after I bootup with this problem, I see a process called wifioff.exe , I have a strong feeling that this process is triggered at the wrong time, I can't delete it as it is a part of the ROM
Alright, I found this key
HKLM/Init
There is a string called Launch35 - Wifioff.exe
Could it be that the wrong launching sequences of programs causes the wifi module not to be loaded? Or the lack of memory or space causes the module loading to be skipped or sort?
Cause I remembered that I get this problem the day I reached critical point in my memory storage
Ok, got a breakthrough
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware
Under Wifi - change from zero to one, at least I can show Wifi in the home screen, I also see the option to turn on loudspeaker as well, something useful we got here
But still Wifi module is not loaded, cant use wifi, and after reboot, the wifi thing is gone from home screen
Yes WiFi has stopped working ever since i upgraded to WM6. The WiFi lights blink and it is not able to detect any network open or secured. Secondly, I can't even see the setting to chnage or add a WiFi APN anywhere? am I missing something??
Secondly under Assceroies, I do not underastand WANIP Manager, what is the use of it and what should be configured? Option I see is
- Profile DHCP
- Options>Select Device> BTPAN1/RNDISFN1/TIACXWLAN1/WWAN1

I just found out this key simply shows the WiFi on the home screen, does not matter whether its turned on or not.
I've experienced this problem yesterday after ...uninstalling Windows Live Messenger!!! I use WM6 for quite a while and I've never "lost" the wifi!
After trying almost everything, the only solution was a hard reset! Luckily, I do a full backup (Sprite Backup) after any software installation/uninstallation and I fully reverted my phone to its previous state.
Uninstalling Windows Live again caused no error at all!
same problem in WM5!
Surprising to see that there is a problem like this for a few of you...
Whats more surprising is that I have the same problem in WM5! I had no problems with wifi and bluetooth earlier, but all of a sudden, I cannot enter into the CommManager where the bluetooth and wifi need to be turned on.
When i goto the menu, it simply hangs. Sometimes i'm able to recover to the home screen.
This has happened after i put the a2dp patch. Any solutions to the problem?
And is sprite backup a free software? is there any free alternative?
I got this problem since my main main memory reached low and I got the warning message, after that, despite managing to recover back those main memory storage space, its gone

Hey karhoe! Thanx for the tip. I saw that my free space was just .5 mb in the phone memory. Deleted some old files and saw that is works fine again after reboot.
Thanx anyway...
Ok, did it twice and I think I figured out the reason.
I uninstalled WLM to install the latest version, after I uninstall it, it prompts me to restart my phone in which I did, just to realize that the WiFI thing is gone after I uninstall.
So there are 2 reasons identified for the WiFi problem
1) Low main memory space
2) Uninstall WLM

I think there must be other reasons.
I'm experiencing the same problem, but have never installed WLM and I have about 9mb of space left on my phone.
I also have had this issue. I have found that if I turn on the WiFi then reset the phone then the wifi usually works. Also can tell very quickly when the wifi messes up as the wifi indicator on the home screen is not present.
WiFi Issue, My experience.
Friends, I had a similiar situation after I flashed my SP5 with WM6 a few days back. I had good qty of memory remaining, never uninstalled WLM. After all installations were over, I configured WiFi thru Connection Manager-WLAN Settings-WiFi-New... I entered My SSID, password and other details, which I am sure, were correct. But WiFi did not work. When I try to connect, the phone says 'connecting..' but the WiFi LED on my modem would come ON for a second or two and go OFF. The next thing I did was, deleting the SSID from the phone and just switching WiFi ON. this time the the screen- 'New WiFi Networks Found' came in view. From there, I selected my SSID (my nieghbours' Network also were shown) and pressed the soft key 'connect'. Then it asked the Password and connected with no delay. I tried surfing by IE. Also tried Map24 (WM5 Version) which requires net connection. I am 100% satis. Hope this helps at least a few. It really is a wonderful ROM!
Cheers,
Jole.
Wifi on SPV C600 ?
My Orange SPV C600 has no wifi. Is it a genuine Tornado ?
Yes, but without wifi feature

WMWifiRouter and connecting to AP

So I've installed WmWifiRouter, and I'm really happy with it as an alternative to Bluetooth DUN/PAN, however, I've run into the following issue:
Once I have WMWifiRouter installed and configured, I am no longer able to use my phone to connect to my home wireless AP. Even when WMWifiRouter is closed, it attempts to connect to the Ad-hoc network that it creates, and will not allow me to connect to my home wireless network. I tried removing the wifi settings for WMWifiRouter, only to find that it I do that, I have to reinstall the program to use it again.
Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how I might work around this issue? I know it's a beta, so there might be something there, but if anyone can help, or if anyone has gotten things to work with a similar setup, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Is the website even up anymore? I went to it and it didn't even exist. Are they coming out with any new releases. I was also wondering if it would let us set out own WEP key
Absolutely, I JUST downloaded it yesterday...go wo www.wmwifirouter.com . And yes, it does allow the use of your own WEP key in the latest release. Can you comment on the issue I'm having?
Alternately, is there anyone who is using WMWifiRouter on their Kaiser who isn't having this problem? If so, how does yours work? What are your settings? Thanks
I don't know if this will help, but here's what I'm referring to:
It just constantly stays on connecting, and if I try to connect to another network, I get the error:
"Warning. Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider and try again."
I just tried it on my Kaiser and was able to share the connection with a Dell laptop and Fujitsu tablet simultaneously. Speedtest.net showed speeds like 1120k down and 330k up. I set security WEP and could connect, but could not surf sites with I.E. but with settings changed to OPEN everything worked fine.
I too found that after I shut this down that my "normal" home wireless LAN connection would no longer connect. In fact the WiFi radio turned itself off when I turned it on and expected it to auto-connect as it did before. When I went into wifi setup on the Kaiser I found that my home connection was gone! I had to add back my home connection, re-config it's WEP settings and was then able to connect once again.
I also wonder what the "normal" behavior is supposed to be for this application when it's started. Should one be able to simply start WiFiRouter and it powers up the WiFi radio, ICS, and makes the phone ready for connections? I found that it would Not power up the radio on mine even though it seemed to claim that it was doing this.
I then tried launching WiFiRouter again and sure enough, it screws up my home access point connection profile every time by blowing away the settings and password.
I reported this on the WiFiRouter website.
Thanks so much for the reply. I just tried following the same procedure, and it worked out for me too. So weird that I actually had to delete my home wifi settings. It does work properly now though, and on my device, using DCS 1.7, it doesn't shut off my wifi when i disconnect/close the program. Thanks again for the help!
Well...sadly, my problem has cropped back up. Basically, the exact same thing is happening, but the fix that worked before is no longer working. I did get in touch with the makers, and they are aware of the problem and looking for a solution. If anyone else can help, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll try to post again if/when I get a fix. Thanks
You need to goto Wifi connections & deselect the WMWIFI AP. Then click & hold on your home AP & select connect. You may also have to turn of the DHCP in WMWIFI befor doing this, otherwise your other connections will try using it.
OK here's what I just sent to Jorrit at WiFiRouter when he asked for me to try a few things;
TEST-1 Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi "Networks to access" was set to "all available".
1-Ran WifiRouter (WFR), my wifi radio does not power up, WFR showing "Waiting for ICS and WLAN".
2-I manually powered up radio (using AnyButton Plus mapped to key).
3-WFR then connected, BUT it connected to my Home LAN. WFR's settings were set to "Force PC to PC Connection" but it connected to my AP anyway?
4-Disconnected WFR, waited a few seconds, pressed re-connect, it now properly "connected to WFR".
5-Pressed Disconnect, Pressed Quit.
6-Checked "network to access" settings, they were still set to "All available".
7-Checked wireless networks, Home LAN was still there and all settings were intact, WFR was there as well.
8-Manually powered On WiFi, instead of auto connecting to my home LAN, the radio powered itself off in about 1-2 seconds.
8-I manually powered WiFi On for the 2nd time, now I get "Cannot connect".
9-Checked wireless networks, WFR is at top of list with "Connecting" showing, Home LAN is below it, and checking it shows all settings gone.
10-I manually re-entered settings (Checked "this is a hidden network", and entered my WPA-PSK TKIP Key) and tapped "Connect". Then a dialog box opened asking for the network key again. I cancelled and the Home Lan entry disappeared from the Kaiser's network list.
11-With WiFi radio Off, I again created the home lan connection and set "networks to access" to AP's Only, Powered on the radio and it connected OK.
TEST 2 - With "all available" set, could it be the WFR is at the top of the list, and it "beats out" the normal home lan connection? Lets try AP's Only setting;
1-Left "networks to access" to AP's only and started WFR. It started normally (well, with the exception that I had to manually power up wifi) and when I checked wifi settings, "networks to access" had changed to "computer to computer" by WRF.
2-I disconnected WFR and Quit the program, it powered Off the WiFi radio, checked settings and it had switched back to "only access points", home lan was there, settings intact.
3-Powered up wifi radio expecting auto connect to home lan, No, wifi shut-off immediately again.
4-Powered up a 2nd time without touching anything, this time it connected to the home lan without issue.
So I'd say there are a couple of issues,
A-Why does the WiFi Radio shut down on the 1st attempt after quitting WFR?
B-Using "All available Networks" causes problems if WFR is at the top of the list?
C-I hate the fact that I'm the "only one who's TyTN II doesn't Power up the WiFi Radio when WFR starts"
They are working on it...
We think we have isolated the problem (once again the problem is WZC), patch should be forthcoming soon.

Wow, I hadn't expected a reply directly from you. Thanks very much. I appreciate your attention on this issue. If you have the time and might post when the patch is available, that would be great, otherwise, I'll be checking the the download site. Thanks again.

Patch will be available when it's done, can't say any more than that. We know what the problem is, but it will not be fixed easily, and the workaround is fairly complex, so it's hard to give a timeframe.
Oh, I wasn't asked for a release date, I was just hoping that you might post when it is released, whenever that may be. I really appreciate the effort you're putting into this, and totally understand that it's not a simple fix. Thanks again.
I have a different problem. I used this program and now I cannot use internet share using my tilts normal data. Very confused and now haven't had internet at home for over a week now. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I can see how that could be annoying. Please see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1801366&postcount=158. Ignore the content, just download the file, unzip it, run the EXE on your phone. It will create two files, post those here, and maybe I can find out what the issue is.

WiFi - Not working at all HTC Touch Pro

Hi,
Having some really odd problems with an HTC Touch Pro....
It was working fine, IMAP a bit slow over WiFi but nothing I couldn't put up with, I was using: 1.66.405.1 then today the WiFi just disappeared... Nothing
Whenever in comms manager I clicked on WiFi I got the whirling WM icon and then nothing
I faithfully backed up and reflashed in case it was something I'd done... No nothing..
I've since upgraded to 1.90.405.1 and still have the same problem!
Does anyone have any bright ideas to how I can get WiFi working again.
I should add that in the Wireless LAN settings screen it says:
Wireless LAN is OFF. Turn on Wireless LAN (but clicking the link has zero effect!)
touch pro wi fi not working
i have the same problem pls someone help
Try to upgrade to ROM 1.90.456.3, I hope you will get rid of many problems in Touch pro.
htc touch pro
can you pls tell me how am i going to do this PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm quite happy flashing ROMs (I've installed enough on this one!!!)
But can someone tell me where I might find ROM 1.90.456.3 (it's not in the Wiki)
Or any ROM people believe will fix my WiFi problems?
This is really frustrating!!
I'm having issues too. Wireless had been working fine then out of the blue last night I couldn't get connected back to my wireless LAN. Now its been a day and still cannot. I rebooted my router and one of my access points. This is driving me nutz...
Does your wireless icon even come on, or does it just sit there with the rotating icon and nothing happens before it goes back to the comm manager?
I'm going to reflash this again - can someone suggest a stable ROM that might solve my WiFi problems?

The wireless adapter was active and could see the networks, but it could never authenticate.
I did a hard reset and it's working again but I have to say the connection is a bit flaky in that it drops frequently even though I have a strong wireless signal.
Currently I don't even get that - it just toggles back to the "off" position after whirring for a little while!
I flashed it with the Elite ROM still nothing.
Took the battery out overnight, lo and behold this morning turned it on and the wireless icon appeared, the device promptly crashed!
After the reboot the aerial icon flashed up "network detected" and I nearly jumped for joy as I entered my password, only for it to crash again.
On this reboot the aerial icon was alive with the arrows going left and right as if it was trying to pickup an IP address, but nothing and when I went into comm manager or the settings menu it said wlan was not active (and wouldn't let me activate it!).
I've just reflashed it again with NATF Rom and still nothing, don't tell me I have to leave the battery out for 12 hours to get it?!
Settings>Connections>Wireless LAN>Power Mode - make certain that the slider is all the way to "Best Performance". With the slider anywhere else, connection will be difficult. Drove me nuts for a few days until I discovered a thread for other HTC machines on another site.
Surely I have to be able to turn on wireless first? I can't even do that!
I too have this issue, and have never been able to find ANYONE who can fix this issue, flashing to the latest rom version from AT&T to see if it will work then, if not, i think i might set my phone to factory and claim my insurance/warranty on this phone to get another one since almost nobody is having this issue and those that do say "search the forums" i have, and have found tons of people with it, but no fixes!
I have exactly the same ... because i use wm 6.5 (my own cooked) i thought is me did something wrong so flashed again with a new build, then nothing i went back to 6.1, still nothing seems the wifi controller is totally disapeared from the system unable to comunicate with the controller all progs i tried came back "The pipe is being closed" what is that i cant even see any wifi controller related in the system....
Someone please.anything works fine except WIFI
any recent developments on this issue?
I just recieved a BRAND NEW Fuze from HTC and im so pissed that the wifi isnt working......
I have the same problem ... i have flashed some ROM, some RADIOS, but the wireless still not working ...
Any ideas

[Problem] Wifi turns on durning a call.

Like in topic.
It turns on mostly durning incomming call.
I've found some information about this issue on other forums.
Propably coused by enabled DirectPush. When phone starts a call, the EDGE connection is interrupt. Sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after few second, Wifi turns on.
Theroy says - DirectPush force wifi to get connected.
It's not happend after soft reset with Wifi off. It happends when Wifi was enabled and disabled before manualy.
This is annoying of course...
Is someone experince this same issue with Raphael? Maybe there is some solution? I like to be "as item arrive" connected...
I have the same issue...using the Proven 14a WWE. During the incomming call the WiFi is turning on. Anybody can help?
Thanks
J.
Same here, started when I installed GB-SOFT tweak to disable data connection after x minutes idle. Wifi turn on when I make or recieve a call, data connection is of when I start the caal and durring the call my TP checks my business mail (set to check account every 5 minutes). Probably caused due to the fact that TP is forced to check my mail but cannot open GPRS or UMTS connection because of the call.
If I set GB-SOFT tweak to always connect to the data network I dont have the issue. So my temporary solution is to stay connected to the network, it at least drains the battery less compared to WiFi.
I've got the same issue. I think it does have something to do with direct push set up for exchange. There really isn't much on the forums (or at least I am having a tough time finding anything) in the way of resolving this. Some were saying that it is a "feature" haha. No thanks!
Well...yesterday I tryied several ROMs..Lantis, ROMeOS, Elite...so far so good at the end I turned back to Proven..however after that jugglin' with ROM's I don't see the WiFi turning on accidentally again...just guessing, maybe it is just some bug during loading process..when you try again you might be lucky ..worth tryin'
cheers
It would help if everyone stated the ROM and Radio as well as other basic information when posting problem reports.
Well, I have ROMeOS 1.60.2 with .28 radio.
I've had this problem on my Hermes as well.
Im 100% sure, that is caused by active DirectPush.
It's just trying to stay connected during phone call and forces wifi to start and connect.
It's very annoying, but i don't think there is solution for this.
Here its stock ROM and radio .20M1. It definately has something to do with trying to make a data connection wile on a call. For me it is however not when I am always connected but when I set "make a connection every 5 mins". Since I changed to radio .20M1 did not experience the WiFi popup, but this can also be because I selected the always connect.
Furthermore I beleive it has something to do with some programme installed lately because I did not see this phenomen the first few months. But what is it ......
OK sorry for that I should mention it earlier...
I have Proven 14a
Radios tested .19, .28, .32 - everywhere the same issue...since yesterday when I wrote my last post I saw it only once! Which is pretty good...till that time it was happening every call.
cheers
Come on guys. it's very simple. If you have defined direct Push "as item arrive", and you turn on than off your wifi, than it's almost for sure that you will have this issue. it's not connected with radio or rom. it's just wm bug.....
the outlook is downloading emails every 15mins...the Push is turned off...how should I setup the outlook to use only GPRS/EDGE connection and not use the Wifi if the GPRS is not available during call?
thanks
J.

I'm not sure what you mean here exactly. Are you saying that you have a VPN set up? If you did something specific to fix this issue, I'd be very interested in getting more of a step by step, because this is driving me nuts.
