What would be the difference between both versions?
I'm hearing WWE is not out yet and I want to order a UK version.
What are all the differences?
If i understand it correctly its the unlocking of all the freq bands of operation. Quad band GSM and Quad band UMTS. I think the hardware is all the same but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
So you're saying UK version doesn't have UMTS? It is listed as supported
I'm not really keen on radio bands and all.
I was guessing it's the dollar sign and the Pound or Euro sign and maybe a couple of more differences.
Kindly, do share all differences
Thx

Well what i meant by that is it supports the Europe/Asia UMTS but not the 850/1900 US (At&t band) at least i think those are the frequencies. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. I believe that is really it to be honest with u. I know that AT&T version doesn't have the front facing camera or the fm radio and the keyboard layout is different as well. I believe i read that the top row of keys is symbols instead of numbers and the moved the numbers to a number pad like setup like the kaiser

If it's anything like previous phones, there will be at least three different versions:
a) European version (+/- regional keyboard variations)
b) World-wide English (WWE) version - aka Asia
c) US version
My last phone (which has sadly died and hence I'm waiting for the WWE Touch Pro) the Nike had at least four or five different variations on the same theme.
I think what the original poster wants to know is what the difference is between the European and Asian/WWE versions of the Touch Pro, not the US version.

I only thought there were two versions of the phones. At least for the kaiser i thought there was a europe and asia version and a north america version. Could be way off there

I have seen on various sites diffrent listings for the gsm. some sites say its quad band and list 850 and some say tri-band. I just wanted to know if anyone has any conformation on if it has 850 mhz or not
Really difficult to go to the HTC website and check the specs ... is it?

Originally HTC listed it as tri-band, but bow they are saying quad-band. That's why some sites say one thing and others another.
sounds good to me. So i should be able to get this as soon as its released overseas next month and have it working on the US at&t for data and voice.
edit: nm i just noticed there is no 1900 umts. think this can be activated with a rom?
Hmmmmm....
On the htc official dutch site is says triband......

The official German site of HTC does as well:
http://www.htc.com/de/product.aspx?id=54454
(It sais that the actual capability of frequencies depends on the telephone provider, but it does not mention 8560 MHz ...)
Either there is a European/Asian version AND an US-amerik. version or the limitation is based on software (different radio firmware?). There is a Raphael 100 and a Raphael 110 - may this be the difference?
Cheers,
Eriol

Read a bit closer dude, the Raph800 is the CDMA version (according to the sources I stated in the thread here). The AT&T ROM was signed for a RAPH110 whereas the HTC ROM was signed for a RAPH100. Im predicting the radio stack will be the desiding factor on the bands available rather than different hardware, would be quite logistically stupid if HTC had several slightly different models on the go just to satisfy the carriers band needs. Sure the cosmetics might be different outside but the core hardware really should be the same.

Mods please close this tread...after reading the first page I just got a headache from all the dumb questions that could have all been answered by visiting HTC's website.
850MHz HSDPA on US AT&T
So,the end result is that a Touch Pro MAY, at some time, work on the AT&T system in the US. However, at this point no one has it functional with any of the ROMs / Radio that are avaiable at this time.
Possibly one might be able to access the higher speed HSDPA, once the ROMs and Radios have been distributed here in the good ol' USA.
If anyone does have a solution to get the TP functional here, I would love to try it.
-Craigster
At least what i can tell, my O2 Touch Pro is a quad band phone.
850MHz HSDPA on US AT&T
The key is that it has HSDPA under 850MHz. This is what will allow the higher speeds on the US AT&T network.
What radio version is your phone using?
-Craigster
Actually all Touch Pro's are 528mhz processor. 528 MHz MSM7201a to be exact.
check this thread about the 850 band please

No, 900/2100mhz UMTS, AT&T uses 850/1900mhz.

Well, that's the million dollar question, isn't it? Many of us are waiting to find out the answer. The AT&T ROM which has already been released on this site should enable access to UMTS 850/1900 bands which AT&T uses. The question is does this phone have the hardware to support this or will the US version have different hardware to access these bands. The answer to this question should be revealed in the next day or two as UK versions of this phone start showing up on US doorsteps including mine.
great, thanks for the response...please keep us updated! i want to pull the trigger very badly on one of these and i have very little patience!
I know it sounds stupid but why go through the trouble of purposefully crippling the european version? I dunno it just sounds weird to me, and more like their deal with att ( att doesnt want tons of these being imported before they release their version ) is causing this lack of U.S. UMTS via firmware.
Well the Diamonds over there can't get UMTS because they don't have the 850/1900 UMTS radio, the hardware was removed to make it smaller. We're hoping the Raphael has the same hardware, but you never know if that's the case.
let's just hope they don't name it something stupid,I don't know how well the sugar trick would work on the surface of the Touch Pro to remove any stupid branding att puts on the phone. ATT manages to make HTC's sexy into slight trailer trash every time.

AT&T Fusion is what we're hearing.
I just spoke to HTC tech support, the guy said that there is a touch pro version in Hong Kong that works on the UMTS 850, which would mean that it would work on ATT 3G here in the US, he gave me a number for the HTC kiosk in Beijing (they have a tech support location there during the Olympics for HTC customers visiting) the number he gave me is 400-700-7011, its in china i haven't been able to get through. He also said there is a ROM upgrade for the Hong Kong version that would enable 3G on the 850 band. I am just as confused as I was before I called.

That's the 850 GSM, not UMTS. Yes, this has been covered with the Diamond, a ROM update enabled the 850mhz GSM band for it to be quad-band.

The tech made it sound like it was a different Hardware version, he may not know what he is talking about, but i was able to contact the people in China (through skype) but they were not helpful. She gave me the HTC Hong Kong number I'll try them later. Hopefully we can rule out the fact that there might be hardware differences.

Well if you can find anything with the hardware ID of RAPH110, I can personally guarantee it has the hardware to run on AT&T 3G. Other than that, we'll see within the next few days as people will be getting and testing RAPH100's with the AT&T ROM.

We are just in progress to buy the Raphael or tp wait for the Xperia. We are travelling to Europe and Asia, but live in the US. As a result we want the UMTS working on 850, 1900 and 2100. Can you figure out if this is a hardware issue or a ROM update. I tseems the Xperia can do it, but we dont like to wait much longer and would like to go with Raphael but the UMTS is a working issue....

This has been said many times, AT THIS TIME, NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE. In the next few days it will be tested, keep an eye out on the forum.
I want to buy this phone on ebay but I have a couple of questions.
I live in CHile so I need the quadband gsm vercion.
1) Can anyone tell me what carries use this? just to make shure, I cant exacly take the sellers word. For example I say a nextel for 300 bucks (about). The seller clames it works world wide.
2) Is the unlock software available already?
Sorry found it!
3) is the fuze and the raphael the same phone? I have seen some that look very diffrent, are they exacly the same just different color. What really looks different is the keyboard.
Thanks

Just to clear something up,
FUZE = GSM this version of the phone released by ATT on their US GSM network (only North American 3g version)
RAPHAEL = TOUCH PRO (both GSM and CDMA)
You will want to find out what frequencies your carrier uses for GSM and 3G (they will tell you, or look it up) and get the Raphael that suits your needs
Currently in the GSM iteration there is the FUZE, which works with North American 3G and the Touch Pro which will work with Euro/Asian 3G.
If you post your ebay link (or PM me or somebody) we can tell you for sure
thanks...much clearer! Searching..searching
I just wanted to check what the actual difference is between UK Spec, Euro Spec and America spec phones. The only thing i can think of is the frequencies, which is made pretty redundant with quad band. That is especially true in relation to UK to USA, but what about UK v Europe? They do they use the same or slightly different frequencies?
NB i've looked on wiki and there is too much UTMS etc talk for me to understand.
Thanks in advance!

Frequency and the kind of services that you may get from your provider. For example, mos devices that come to the US are crippled one way or another depending on the carrier that they are going for. The Raphael (Touch Pro) is supposed to have a front camera for video calling. I cannot think of a single phone in the whole US market with this feature...
Having said that, this is US vs rest of the world (pretty much). Now, UK vs Europe... there shouldn't be too many fundamental differences (IMHO). Hope this helps...
Should I wait for the US version of this phone, or buy an international one? Will it be any differences in specs or in 4G/LTE bands for the US version? And how long does it usually take between the international release and US release? Thanks!
The only two bands across T-Mobile and AT&T that I see missing from gsmarena specs are Band 30 (AT&T, not sure how important this is) and Band 71 (hardly any phones have this, so should not miss it)
The rest (Bands 2,4,5,12,17,66) seem to be supported
I've seen these specs, but they are selling now several variants - South American and some others, and it's hard to know what bands they have because models numbers are different than on GSM arena site....

I have the A70 and it's a South American version and I love it. You'll probably never notice a difference ever, with the exception of Samsung pay.
That will not work with phones outside your home region.
If that doesn't bother you than go for it.
If it does bother you than wait... or wait a bit longer for the 5G version that's just around the corner.
5G version on the way.
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a71_5g_could_be_heading_to_the_united_states-news-41068.php
Just make sure that the phone you buy has the right frequencies ....Example SM-A515W (Canada) would work whereas SM-A515GN/DS might not.
spend some research time on the frequencies and you'll be fine ....
If you buy from B&H Camera they make it simple and have international versions that work here.
Hope tha helps.
Thanks! Where do they sell Canadian version? Also, is there a website with a listing for model numbers for all countries variants, I couldn'r find one....
