Hello guys,
my X7510 has about two weeks now and I always have been carrying it in the OEM case. I've used it 5-6 times with the keyboard attached without the case.
I've noticed today that there some awful scratches on the plastic window of the keyboard. Is that plastic so weak
I thought of buying an "invisible shield" from zagg.com (have one my Canon 30D and it's great) but they don't make it for the X7510, only for the original X7500.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?
I have same problems... IMHO, material so soft
take toothpaste (not gel) for children to remove the scratches

Well, I am pasting the email trail here. I was absolutely floored with their response:
Customer Message:
I am interested in your product and you have come highly recommended by xda-developers.com, but unfortunately I have the new HTC Advantage x7510 and you only have skins for x7500/x7501. I was wondering if/when you would be adding the new model to your product list.
Thank you
Chris

To whom it may concern;
As the x7510 is identical to the x7500/x7501 except for the lack certain buttons/ports I cannot understand a reason you would require my device. If anything the x7510 would be easier for you to provide as it has fewer cutouts in the shield. I regret that it is impossible for me to send you my device as it is my only phone and I would not be willing to pay for the shipping and an additional $19.95 on top of the $24.95 fee you are already charging, plus I am sure you will be adding an installation fee as well based on your email below.
Perhaps one day after you have read the HTC site and seen the dimensions and pictures you will realize my reluctance in this affair.
Thank you for your reply
Chris
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am sure I was rude, but I just cannot believe they wanted me to pay an additional $20 so that I could provide them with a sample so they could sell me, and everyone else in the future, a shield for this.
The short-sightedness of some companies is absolutely staggering. So basically they want to charge you for alerting them to a new opportunity!
Anyway, I suggest go to any glazier that does out-of-hours emergency repairs, offer them $1-00 for essentially a very small piece of emergency glazing repair self-adhesive plastic, then trim that to size and stick it on.
That is exactly what I'll be doing, except I think I'll cover the entire underside of the keyboard.

Hello Chris,

The invisibleSHIELD for the x7500/x7501 may work fine for your x7510. Please note that we could not guarantee that our invisibleSHIELD design would fit for another device.
If you would like you may purchase the invisibleSHIELD for the x7500/x7501 for your x7510 and if it doesn't end up fitting correctly you are more than welcome to return it for a refund, as long as the return is postmarked within 30 days of the original purchase date. Hi there ! If you are keen to put on Zagg invisible shield , like the other guy proposed , why not just copy out the window size on a white paper , cut it out , then put it onto the x7500 / x7501 shield , and then cut out the window according the size of the white paper which was cut just now , and then install the shield onto your x7510 keyboard ( since only the plastic window is scratched ) . In my opinion don't put on the invisible shield on your x7510 body because i saw some photos on the net somewhere ( try google / yahoo images ) and it looked pretty Ugly , glossy , the edge slightly wrinkled if not applied by professional Zagg technician , it is just gonna turn a solid pda into a unprofessional looking gadget . Or you can ask someone to sew you a slight fitting pouch to put both keyboard and x7510 or just the x7510 alone into this pouch which made from cotton cloth or soft t shirt quality cloth . I did that and there s no scratch even if you use it daily . Better make it 3 pouches so that you can wash one and use the other one and standby the third just in case . Thanks for reading - jimmunsw

I read about www.Shieldzone.com and their full body protection.
Of course, they dont offer anything for the P3600 out of the box but they are able to custom design a full body protection for $45 within 1-3 business days.
Does anyone know if it is worth paying $45 for this kind of protection? I really dont like silicone cases, since they are too big and collect dust. I have tried numerous leather cases but in the end I simply dont use them since the device inclusive case doesnt fit into my pockets.
Any comments on their products?
If I remember correctly, it isi quite difficult to apply it on. Have you applied a screen protector before? I think a full body shield is.. very much difficult than a screen protector. Anyway, you might want to look at this http://www.skinit.com/, $10 only

They would apply the protector on the device, which is included in the $45.
I totally agree, applying a screen protector is difficult enough and a very tedious and I wouldnt want to deal with a full body protector.
The thought of not having to deal with any paint problems and perhaps being able to sell the device scratch free in a years time is quite appealing.
Thanks for the link, I will check them out too!
i've bastardized the 8525 shieldzone skin to use on my 3600. in my opinion, it greatly minimized the "fingerprints" and provides adequate protection for me. i don't really like the rubberized skins. they are not very difficult to apply and can be peeled off when necessary. i wish shieldzone would make a skin for the 3600...

Can you plz post pics of the final results on your P3600?? I'm also interested in this skin. I think it's a great idea..
Thanks
I've used them for other devices, they are 100% worth it. They are a bit of a pain to get one but they do work as advertised. They are clear so they show off the device and protect the unit from scratches without adding the bulk of other type of skins since they are very very thin.
Do you know how long the turn around time is since they install it. If all is true then $45 bucks is cheap for the protection that it offers. I am very interested.

They told me that an approx. turn around time would be 1-3 business days. You have to add shipping times for both ways to it, which depends on location and shipping service you choose. So, I guess a far assumption would be to have the unit back within 10-12 business days if you ship via UPS ground.
Also, the $45 price quote does not include shipping charges. So, it is quite expensive to simply protect the device against scratches.
Perhaps anyone can post some pictures of the protection applied?
So what if I need to change my sim or take my battery off?

Good point
I would think that they are installing the shield on each part individually, hence you have up to 7 different pieces to apply to the unit. Subsequently there shouldnt be a problem to reach the SIM or battery, etc.
Maybe there's someone who lives in the area can take their unit in or get a dealer to drop one off for a fitting. Once they make a custom one, they sell to others. With that said, I think it's pretty bad business on their part, you'd think they'd be willing to do the first one for any device free knowing they will be able to sell others based off their template.

Good idea!
Hi guys,
Sorry for dredging up an old thread but I just wanted to add my piece as someone who has had one of these shields before (on an HTC Prophet).
They are very very good, and you really can scratch away at the device with keys / brick wall etc and it doesn't scratch (obviously not something you would want to do on purpose)! The application is tricky but very doable, and should your protector ever become creased or damaged you can have it replaced for free, for life.
The turnaround time is quick, no more than 5 business days, but I'm in the UK so when I sent mine off for a custom shield I got hammered on the return for customs duty etc - a nasty shock. That's the only reason I wouldn't get a custom shield made up for my P3600. Let me know if you do though as I will be hot on your heels ordering one!
On my Prophet, you could see the edges of the protector in places, as they have to make the shield up in sections so it can be curved around the top of your phone etc - can't see any way they could apply it in a single sheet. This was not a big issue on the Prophet, and looks a million times better than covering up your device with a silicon case or whatever.
I'm guessing that the edges of the protector will be less visible on the P3600 as it is already shiny, where the Prophet was matte. The shield will not cover the buttons and camera on your phone. In 18months my Prophet did not pick up one scratch, despite being dropped on concrete and in a pocket with keys, which is a good selling point in my mind!
As for the cost, $45 is more than a case / screen protector, but these things protect the device for it's entire life, and even if you don't like parts of the protector, you can always take those parts off (with the risk of them not being protected) and leave on the parts that you do like. Some protection is definitely better than none anyway! You'll probably find that you leave the whole thing on though!
As I said, drop me a line if you get a custom one made up as that will mean that poor UK based P3600 owners like myself should be able to follow up and order one without sending our devices in!
Good luck!
Mark.
Yes please, if anyone takes the plunge please advice!!

Looks like that they finally sell a body shield for the P3600:

Now, the question is whether this is only a screen protector or a full body protector? Its not very clear according to the description.

That's just a screen protector. It says at the top of the picture.
I've gotten these put on for a Wizard and Hermes and would not go without them. I, like most, don't like bulky covers on an already large phone.
As mentioned, they come in several different parts and don't block access to anything that needs opening or the like.
I'm also just a stones throw away from their corporate office. I've had them apply the skins for me (just $10 extra) and they've told me that they'll make a custom skin for any device that's brought to them for an extra charge of only $10 or $15 more. But, once they create the template, they hang onto it so they won't charge the next guy for the custom job.
All in all, I think they're probably the best choice to protect your device.
Just a little first-hand input for ya.
come on - someone in the US can order one if it means that I can order one to be delivered to Europe. I'll pay $10 of the $15 say extra dollars once I can have one shipped
(The full body protector).

I was the first to respond to sending my phone to ZAGG for them to model their InvisibleSHIELD product for the Toshiba TG01, so i am sending my device off tomorrow.

Yeh, my device should be back with me 6th or 7th, availability must be immenent too

this covers are on website ZAGG for 24.99$ + shipping i got some vouchers to give you 20% off from original price : GIZMO / PROTECT20 / TECHBARG / ZAGG20/ and you can still use quidco as well to give you another 20% off finally my maximum cover for TG01 with 1 class recorded shipping to uk cost me 14 pounds
OK, here is my short review of the InvisibleSHIELD for the Toshiba TG01
As you all know, this product has been released for many products before this one, and reviews for the product are all over the web, so there isn't a great deal to add
My phone arrived back today, service from ZAGG has been top notch, since i was the first to reply to the request for someone to send in a device, and due to the expense of sending it to the states, they included a $25 gift voucher for my trouble, as well as fitting a InvisibleSHIELD too my device.
Fit is almost Invisible literally, except for the rounded corners, you can feel the join of the shield in these areas. The only way you know the skin is on the device is by the glossy shine of the battery cover, and the odd feeling you get on the touchscreen when using your finger.
I am not about to take a key to my device to test their claims, however the shield does give me a bit of confidense my screen will remain scratch free for the foreseeable future. As for the body protection, i am sure that will work fine, what little body the TG01 has anyway, being so slim!
I will include a picture or 2, as best i can take with my camera, but you will not see much, just a glossy sheen to the battery cover, and the only way you know this device has the Shield in place is by feel.
All in all, seems like a good product, especially for protecting the body of your device, i think a screen protector would give much nicer feel to the screen, however i don't think anyone can argue about the level of protection this product gives your device against scratches.
Images attached, one is a blurry pic of a corner join, and the 2nd is of the battery cover
Thanks for your short review

Just got my universal invisible shield today at carphone warehouse for £8.99. got it installed at the shop, it covers most of the device. they did a bad job though! i ciuld have done better than them... came with 2 though, so i used the 2nd protector for my Orange San Fransisco. so far im really impressed with it, my other screen protectors got scrathced far too easily and needed to be replaced.

having owned it for quite a while, can you please post an update on how the shield is holding out now? Is it still strong durable, no peelings on it? I've had mine on for 4 months now (custom cut universal shield) it is scrathed, and i find it very difficult to use with my finger on the screen as it is quite a rough surface.

Condition of the shield is good, no scratches, but it has peeled from the edges of the screen, i should probably contact them to see what they say about a fix, but if you had the application fluid you could just flatten it back down before it got all messed up.
I should add, i use a sillicone case, which rubs against the edges of the screen, so when i hold my phone, the case rubs in that area, which is what is causing the invisibleshield to peel, its only in those areas, its not really noticeable when its in its sillicone case.
I got my Desire HD just yesterday and before I make the big switch from my trusty G1 and wanted to install this protection that I have had for a good few weeks now.
The full body protector set I got consisted of one for the screen, a main back part, sim card slot and battery slot. It came with a spare set too.
To be honest, I'll cut to the chase. The installation was like any other full body installation in that you've got to keep your hands wet with the sopy solution (I had a spray bottle left over from a Bodyguardz set I had for my HD2 I once had). You must ensure you peel the parts off carefully making sure you don't stretch them. Bearing this in mind and being experienced in fitting this type of protection, I found the 'cut' of it to be poor.
The protection isn't "full" in my opinion. It doesn't stretch round the edges and corners therefore the most vulnerable areas to scratches and knocks is not protected. But worst of all, the deal breaker for me, was the battery cover area. I first realised that the main back part wasn't going to fit correctly when trying to put it on. The design of the protection have wrongly measured the battery cover slot and they believe it to be smaller than it is. This means that I had to cut a little bit away from the main back part. Consequently, the little piece of protector that goes on to the battery cover was too short and again means it does not provide "full" protection. The screen protection, I would of hoped, could of covered the whole thing right up to the earpiece grill but it just covers the screen.
Whether or not the screen will be less responsive, it tints yellow after time or shows any other aspect of poor build quality, time shall tell and I will edit this review accordingly.
So it is in my opinion to wait for another brand to release, InvisbleShield is in my sights as soon as its available.
Any questions, Ill be more than happy to answer
Thanks for the review but it'd me much better If you could share the front screen as well.
BTW you can purchase bestskinsever (BSE) DIY size and cut out any shaped as you need. Especially for that battery cover, you can solve yhe problem with BSE

Thanks for the tip about Bestskinever though I think Im going to wait for Invisibleshield or hope that Bodyguardz produce one soon. I really like that for my old HD2

Zagg Invisible shield
I believe the Zagg invisible shield is already available. when you go to the Zagg web site, just search for HTC desire HD, and it should bring you to the site. I just ordered Maximum protection for AUS $18 (including shipping), but that's after 50% voucher. You can look for it here, and maybe post a request (im sure someone will be nice enough to share.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664386
I do believe the Zagg quality is better (including the cut).

If they make it like their iPhone 4 full body protection - don't bother . The size is wrong by 1-2mm, the cuts for the speaker, button, etc, also don't match the actual size (see the attached picture). I installed just the front and back protectors on my wife's iPhone, because seeing how wrong they are on the plain flat surface, I don't want to know what they did with the curvy edges... I ordered some original HTC protectors for my DHD because IMO they are the perfect cut and with some luck I'll manage to install one of them without any bubles (it's not impossible - I did it on the Touch HD).

Why cant you just ordered directly from their official sites? dont need to go through their resellers. Dont think it's much cheaper to get from their local resellers. Considering you can also get discount vouchers from nice people in this forum. Shipping is not expensive (only cost me $5).
Stupid me! I bought 2 pairs before you! I got my phone about two weeks now, so I decided to have some temporary protection until something better comes out.
And after installing the first one I really felt like I was fooled its so ugly and it doesnt fit well so I decided to sent the 2nd one back the morning after... but too late my mom had already throwed the 2nd one in the recycling bin...
Now Im searching for a cheap but good quality silicone case and a cheap look a like the default HTC leather case, cause I think Ive spent enough on screen protectors!
btw my phone has still the devdef protection on it and I have to admit, it has 2 pros
* No sign of condense
* Stretchy protector
but its 100% NOT scratch proof

I hate silicone cover more than anything, but try this mate, only £2.95, but I promise that this is the best protection out for the Desire HD so far, await the case-mate barely there if you want a metal, as I am doing, I got conned by this stupid DevDef protection!
Hello everyone - I just wanted to let you guys know that I have been in contact with Case-mate regarding the 'Barely There' for the HTC Sensation. As we all know our Sensations have 5 tiny little holes on the back that are used for all sorts of purposes including noise cancellation (what do they all do by the way?). The current 'Barely There' by Case-mate does not have the necessary openings:
http://imgur.com/otbgC
This is the email I received:
"Thank you for your feedback. I presented your concern to our Product Development Team. We are reviewing the issue at this time and should have an update by end of the month, if, when the re-design will take place."
So I would currently advice against buying the current range of cases from Case-mate as they will likely be redesigning the range.
It's nice that they replied with concerns. I ordered a SGS2 full body protector from Skinomi, which has a defective design for the battery cover. I gave Skinomi a call regarding a fixed design for replacement but they just said they will send me a replacement and never did.
Those holes are NOT for noise cancelling, they are just for for the gold antenna connectors!!!!
There is only 1 mic on the back and it's above the camera
How come all official HTC cases have cutouts for these holes if they weren't important?
well htc did say that those holes should stay uncovered, thats why alot of the case mates are called back..
I don't know how they even released the first lot of casemates without proper testing...

HTC said that? where?
what the hell htc?
wthell is up with all these faulty, wrongly sized or nonexistent cases/accessories for the Sensation? Screen protectors don't account for the curved glass and bubble up and body glove filament scraping off the inside of cases? this is ridiculous. The phone has been out in Europe for amonth and there are still no credible products for us now in the states. [email protected] htc.

how is it HTC's fault? the case isn't even made by HTC. only maybe if HTC sent them a messed up demo unit.
I doubt you will find a screen protector that covers the curved glass. if it does then the protector wont stick to the surface. you might as well go for those wet-applied soft ones.

how is it not?
They make the product. They know the production schedule. They know its release date. They know who they "officially" license to create accessories.
If your phone is a multimedia phone and you have no kickstand for the apparent movies/media your buyers are going to purchase the phone for - who is shortsighted one the customers or the manufacturer?
If you have limited to no decent selection of cases - AT THE STORE - where the product is manufactured for, is it the customers fault or the manufacturers?
If your phone, with the same specs and measurements as its European counterpart, is shipped a month earlier overseas and you STILL don't have products available in the states or abroad, who is the culprit?
If I go into best buy and can buy 15 different cases and a host of different accessories for the Evo 3D (besides the selection the have at the Sprint Store) and I have to scour the internet for the same 10 things for the Sensation who is to blame?
If you license a company to make screen protectors that do not stick to the edges of the curved glass screen who is to blame - the customer that blew $15 bucks on a faulty product or the manufacturer?
Hey, if you are happy with what you have found to equip your Sensation more power to you. However, I and a lot of other Sensation owners, are not pleased with the selection and the lengths we have to go through to get decent accessories at the time of purchase. That falls at the manufacturer's feet. No device then no accessories.
Hey, if you found accessories
I emailed HTC and asked about the holes. Here's the not so helpful response:
"You were wondering about any important holes in the back cover for your HTC Sensation 4G. I would be more than happy to assist you with this hardware inquiry. You have a number of holes on the back cover and there are a few that I would suggest you leave open. Up towards the top of the back cover, you should find the camera and the flash to the left of it. If you look towards the right, you will see a speaker (long rectangular box). The rest of the holes are noise cancelling speakers, which you should be able to cover."

Unless an accessory has HTC's logo on it I would highly doubt that HTC approves, licenses, or ever sees the design of a product. Even if it does have an HTC logo it's no guarantee HTC approved it. Anyone can design and sell any accessory they want. Your ire is misdirected.

LOL...I think the person was trying to say the bottom holes can be covered (the two under where it says WITH HTC SENSE) but the rest shouldn't be. Just my guess.

Here's my translation, don't cover the camera, the LED's or the speaker. All the others don't matter.
Hard to figure how noise cancellation, and the second mic for stereo recording don't matter, but she hit the priorities I suppose.
I have a hard time believing HTC went to the trouble of putting those holes there for no good reason. But I could be persuaded by actual facts. Still waiting for them.

Apple (IPhone) licenses theirs out for sure. You aren't allowed to put iPhone on the packaging without a license. We were looking into making big bang theory iphone skins and learned that we had to pay them a royalty to put "iPhone" on the packaging. I don't think HTC licenses it out at all. Notice none of these sensation cases have "HTC" anywhere on the packaging, but they do have the carrier model name...

Either way, having to flip cases inside out, felt shedding from inside cases, case recalls, death grip enhancing - the works - could be avoided by even HTC providing a case (at the time of launch) so that we could protect the phone. I am still smarting over the fact that I have seen an Evo 3d Kickstand case by htc and none for the sensation that is labeled a multimedia phone with a front facing camera. there is NOTHING out there (besides the body glove one).

Unless someone receives their case before me and posts a review, I'll provide an update when it arrives.
it's still not available to purchase from the website yet. the add to cart button is still grayed out.
please update us when you receive it.
Got my email too, waiting.
what is the difference with the revised case? Are they exchanging if we purchased the unrevised case?
Got my email too, hoping for something decent this time.
Got mine today. It's an improvement.
Ditto. Just unboxed the case and slipped the touchpad in. It is certainly an improvement. All of the ports are accessible and there is sufficient clearance around the bezel to perform the swipe gestures. The case fits snuggly without any warping. The kickstand is great for media consumption, but not so great for typing. The OEM case is certainly more versatile in that regard.
Actually, the longer I spend writing this mini review, the more awkward typing feels.
The case also adds considerable weight to the device, but not a deal breaker, for me anyway.
Build quality is great and I feel the touchpad is safer in this case than it is in the OEM case.
Overall, it's a nice case, but I don't think this will replace my OEM case.
Any chance we can get some pictures? Some one posted a YouTube video today, and it looks worth the $15 (or less if I can get a coupon working). I don't anticipate typing much while it's used as a stand.
Thanks for the info and the updates. I really appreciate it all.
Also, how does this work with the Touchstone?
EDIT/UPDATE:
i got my case yesterday. super fast shipping, chose the free standard, took only 3 days instead of the 5-7 they quoted. and with the coupon that is floating around, only cost a hair less than $thirteen.
i am very pleased with the case. it fits great over the touchpad. everything is accessible. swiping from the bezel works in all orientations. charging with the touchstone works (although is seems more sturdy in landscape than portrait). the fabric and materials probably need some time to break in, but overall, a great addition to my touchpad.
and i am comfortable with the added bulk some people complain about. it gives me some piece of mind knowing my device will be well protected.
