Registry help needed please- SPEAKER VOLUME - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I have used the tweaks found in the Wiz/Wiz section (and subscribed to a thread without much response http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256734 ), as well as other WM6 device tweaks and ones found by googling...my issue is, and no one seems to know what/how...
My internal speaker, the mono speaker used for phone calls, is very low. The tweaks I applied have made the speakerphone louder, and my BT earpiece louder, but if I am in my house, and get a call, I usually dont use BT or speakerphone. I sound like a reverse Verizon commercial...instead of "can you hear me" it is "I can't hear you".
I have used the audiogain tweaks (also known as audiogain cc), and also HKCU\Control Panel tweaks. I have reset my device. My physical settings are cranked all the way up (slider, and volume icon).
Does ANYONE know what reg entry specifically targets the internal single (top of device between flashing lights) speaker to increase in-call volume??
I dont mind being a guinea pig, so if you have any ideas about this issue, I'd sure love to hear from you and try them out.
As always, thanks in advance!
***PS- am using AMPv2 rom with radio 2.37 IPL/SPL 2.26 (if this helps at all)

BUMP
Does anyone have any idea which reg entry may specifically target the single internal speaker? Please and Thank You.

wish I did. that would be the first thing I would fix. try apache forum as well. it is basicaly the same hardware, But I remember that a lot of verizon users traded their's in innitialy, because they could not hear anything.
hERE ARE MY RELATIVE REG SETTINGS FOR YOU TO COMPARE`
HKLM/Software/Audiogain
EAC_GAIN_EMBEDED (mine is set to: 6d)
HEADSET 67
EARPHNE_UPLINK VOL 19
HEADSET_UPLINK VOL 13
RECIEVE_UPLINK VOL 18
SPEAKER UPLINK VOL 10
HKCU/CONTROLPANEL/PHONE
VOL 0X0000FFFF(65535)
You may also want to look at these:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Loudest InCallVolume
InitVol 0x00000001(1)
HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume
Here are my settings:
Key 0x00010000(65536)
Mute 0x00000003(3)
Ringer 0xfffffff(-1)
Screen 0x00010000(65536
Volume 0xffffffff(-1)
I believe you will have better luck adjusting the volume in HKCU rather than HKLM.
I hope this helps you figure out this problem. I know many of us suffer. Somehow mine is either ok, or I'm just used to it.

Mahalo!!
Thanks for your response. I have played with many of those areas, but perhaps I haven't figured out the right tweaking level yet, so I will go back to those regs and play some more. I will check the Apache section out, perhaps I could gain more insight there. I'll say this...if I finally find the right settings, I should win a front row seat to see Barry Manilow in concert--make my hard work pay off (yes you read correctly, I love Barry!)
I will certainly post any findings. This is a real pain in the ass. I love my wizard, but the speaker issue is frustrating.
Thanks again for your insight.
**EDIT**
HKLM/Control Panel/Volume AND HKLM/Drivers/Speaker both potentially affect volume (I think), but in my rom, there is no settings. I am not sure if the no settings IS the default settings, and am not sure if I can futz with these?? Does anyone have an idea if it is safe to attempt tweaks in these 2 areas??

it is safe if you back up your reg (original)
these settings are in my 588 (which I haven't posted yet) which I will post when it is ready. it is currently being simmered like a stew.
PS. when I was tweaking the camera graphics, I noticed a lot of functions that are not in the registry. about 1/3 of the icons do not show up under any circunstance. which leads me to believe that the program is capable of more than the inhibited registry.
so perhaps I will export my reg for you to try. unfortuantely, I can't post them using opera mini

How about this one,
HKCURRENTUSER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall \Attenuat ionCategory = 0
The setting was on "2", changed it to "0"

What did you find when making that change? everything I have read claims it only affects the incall beeps when raising the volume slider, so I haven't really bothered with it...but I have been toying with the possibility, just for sh*ts and giggles, because at this point I have pretty much exhausted the reg entries I can think of.
Thank you for your response. Every little bit helps, and keeps me from just randomly choosing a number out of my ass to change the reg entry to!

Did you try it? It should work. It will "increase in-call volume??" You will not crash your device for trying it.

I noticed only a slight volume increase using the attenuation fix. My speakerphone sounds great though. I may just have to save my pennies and get the speaker replaced==maybe it just gave up the ghost, because none of these reg entries is giving me the volume I need.
Any other suggestions, tips, insight, etc would be appreciated.

Still seeking some insight. Apparently the repair shop locally wants to charge LOTS of money for the speaker. The speaker worked fine prior to installing the AMP rom. I like the features of the rom so don't want to swap if I don't have to, but I REALLY do need to fix this speaker volume issue.
Can anyone provide me further assistance/suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

while your at it does anyone know what reg entries are for upping the mic evel to make it more sensitive?

I know mine increased when I tweaked something in the 4 audiogain files...but I don't remember which ones I tweaked. Look through the thread I linked in my first posting it should help.

This is my solution , and on all versions and over 30 devices tested by me.

Thats my reghack (well, I found it in a thread here but have adjusted the value down from what was posted here in other threads):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN]
"EAC_GAIN_EMBEDDED"=dword:00000077
I personally have used this for a couple of months. I keep my ringtone setting (with this tweak) at the mid point level and its a little louder than my phone used to be on a stock rom with it turned all the way up. I only turn it higher than that if I'm going to be outside or in a somewhat noisy setting. I just like the fact this gives me the option for a LOUD ringtone when I want it.
Default setting is 6D I believe. The thread I found this in was setting it to 7D. I played around with from 70 to 7D and settled on 77. For my phone, it gives me a loud ringtone that doesn't sound distorted (like 7D did) and was loud enough for me.
As for ruining your speakers... Who knows. IF you run with it cranked to the top all the time, it may just do that. Like I said, I only run with my phone at half volume and it works fine for me. (Its funny, since doing this, even at half volume, my kids will jump when the ringtone goes off as it is definetly louder ). If I'm in a quiet place, I'll turn it down to just 1 click before off or 2 clicks for a "normal" volume ringtone.
wonder how that will work with the new photo contacts 5 because PC5 seems to love over running system settings for sound

Why don't you guys use the slider for louder ringtones ?
It's easyer ...when you're in a noisy place, move it up, when home or other place, just lower the slider....that easy.

What do you mean? On my personal phone on a stock default rom, if I set the ringtone to max, its not loud enough for me (Guess I'm older and past rock concerts have finally taken a toll on my hearing ;-). So I use this reg hack to have it so that the ringtone is louder, but yes I use the slider to adjust how loud overall it will be. I'll set it to about the mid point in most cases, then adjust it up and down if its a quiet room or a noisy one. But I find the default settings not loud enough on my 8125. Maybe other Wizards have a better volume, but everyone at my office with an 8125 has implemented this reghack as they all hate the default volume level, and this fixes that.
what is the reg hack that you use again?

You know that when idle, if you press the volume boubble, the slider under the phone actually controlls loudness of the ringtone and if you access it from within a call or from the call menu, it controlls the in call loudness (that's the one that doesn't work actually)
Hope it helps .

Yes, I know how the volume slider works, and what each of the different volume controls do. I think people are missing the point and seem to assume I don't know what ringtone volume is. I've explained myself twice in this thread. If you don't like or want the tweak then don't use it. Its something I like and I use. ANTC picked it up from me when he asked for the tweaks I put it in Crossbow Reloaded. I won't comment on this anymore as its dragging this thread off topic, and I've made my points for why I use it (whether people think I know how to use the controls or not). My last comment is, that maybe your phone ringtone volumes are louder, but on the 8125, I don't think they are very loud even with the ringtone (and all other volumes sliders) turned full blast. YMMV

I didn't meant to offend you . Sorry if you felt that way. I said it because my Wiza sounds horibly loud when setting that slider to the top. Stereospeakers or not, the sound doesn't compare to the SonyEricsson W series, actually is awfull in my opinion. But one thing you're right and this is offtopic. so
Sorry ANTC

How to increase the speaker volume ?

Hi Guys,
I find the volume is too soft when the phone is switched to a speaker mode. Anyone knows how to change it ? the System and Ring volume bar is already at max.
I used to owe an Omnia...but sold it off because i hate the touch keypad.
Omnia has this code *#0002*28346# that can change all the speaker, earpieces and ring tones.
Does TP has similar code ?
Look for solutions...thanks
Feihong
I think there is no resolution for low speaker/headphone voice level yet...
yeah no solution as yet...
The sound volume is also a bit lower, that I am using normally(another HTC devices descibed below). I was all the time very happy with HTC's loudness, but Raphael is really too silent. Only one solution now I see, turn on speakerphone mode and turn the device around.with the display outside. So you can call also in discobar.
Sad..Sad...

yes guys it would be realy great if some one would find it out how to increase the sound from the TP i ghat mine today its a greath ppc but the sound its not so good its realy wery poor :S one mine htc tytn 2 its perfect
pls guys help uss by that problem
Guys there is a way to edit the registry on a touch pro to make the volume louder, I had it on my old touch pro, but I just had to get a new one from the insurance company. As soon as I find it I will post it here
I just got my Fuze a couple of days ago, and noticed how much lower than my tilt the speaker volume was. I was ok with it, but is nice to hear someone has a reg hack for bringing the volume up on it. I'll be waiting for this post!
HKLM/Control Panel/Volume AND HKLM/Drivers/Speaker both potentially affect volume
or try this cab, it should work, havent tested it tho
On GSM devices, there is a set of AudioPara*.csv files which are normally found in the kitchen OEMDrivers folder - the contents end up in the .\Windows folder as hidden files). Use the device File Explorer (show hidden/system files) to confirm that AudioPara*.csv files exist on your CDMA device.
1) If they do exist, search the XDA forum using these keywords:
Arup Audio Boost CAB
2) If they do not exist, a CDMA chef may be able to offer some insights on how volume levels are handled for CMDA devices ... afaik, should be the same.
Using a registry editor, search for the .CSV file(s), it will yield the registry key that may need to be changed if you wish to point to a different .CSV filename in case you wish to return to the default file without resetting your device. In all cases, be cautious, tweaking the AudioPara to extreme ranges can damage the device or your hearing.
HTH,

WM Volume vs. Ringtone Volume

I have spent the last couple of days searching the net trying to find an answer and have come up empty handed. For starters I'm running the Verizon Touch Pro 2. The issue I can't seem to figure out is why does an MP3 file play nice and loud when playing through Windows Media on the phone (maintains constant volume) but when I set it as the ringtone the volume starts off normal but then decreases quite a bit? I have tried this with several MP3s and they all seem to do the same thing.
Going nuts with this.......
Thanks much for any help, input or direction.
Edit: and for the record, yes, I did try both registry tweaking and using the updated AudioPara3.csv with no difference.
Brian
There is a setting called "Be Polite" or something along those lines, it reduces the volume as soon as the accelerometer senses that you have picked up (physically) the phone - I bet that is causing your problem. There is a CAB to disable it in the MightyROM thread on PPCGeeks Here - I am not sure if this will work on the stock Rom or not, but it is worth a try. You may also be able to disable it in settings somewhere, but I am not sure where.
Hope this helps,
Patrick
Thanks much...I greatly appreciate the reply. I'll give it some research. Only issue I can think of is when I'm playing these MP3 files, both in WM and as a ringtone preview, the phone is lying flat on a surface and not being moved at all.
Guess we'll see.....

Music Listening Experience

Hey, greetings from Slovakia
I'm curious, are there ways to improve sound music experience in a Windows Phone (Lumia 710), software-wise?
The phoney comes with NO sound enhancement options so it's clear that any such attempts'll be purely software-based.
I'm interested in these two, in particular:
1) Equlizer software, working with Music and Videoss app, if not globally
2) Total number of REAL volume levels (the phone should have 30, but has about 8.
Now I'm aware any of these'd be possible with a custom ROM only so that's why I'm asking first, as I suppose learning to flash that thing is going to take me couple of hours (newbie).
Thanks for everyone's reply
If you'd gone with an HTC phone, you might have been able to use the Sound Enhancer app (which worked fine pre-Mango, although it seems to have been taken off the Marketplace since). That provided the equalizer, at least...
I don't really know what to say to your complaint about the "REAL" volume levels; I can hear a distinct change in volume at each step. I do feel that the minimum should be lower (I occasionally mute the phone by accident, tapping down once when it's already at 1) and I think that actually might be configurable in the registry (I haven't looked *very* hard yet) so that might be possible with a custom ROM. I know you can adjust the number of steps in the volume control in the registry, too.
My only real gripe with the way WP7 handles sound is how freaking loud minimum volume is. Maybe this is just a hardware level issue, but I do somewhat agree with you; in that the phone doesnt seem to have a lot of range, in regards to volume control. However, I feel the 30 step software volume dial is audibly different between every step.
I was referring to this issue (posted by me): http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Har...trol-only-8-levels-instead-of-30/td-p/1504138
Hope it's allowed to post links to other forums. It's Nokia's official, not a community. Best part is no one from Nokia gives a flying phuk, the question is unanswered for 3 months.

[Q] Call volume really low

Is there an app or other software to boost the volume? All my volume settings are maxed and i cant really hear the caller. Sometimes, though, it comes in just fine, but most of the time it doesnt.
Thanks

I had this problem with another phone and after an extensive search, I ultimately gave up on it. I will share what I tried and maybe save you a little trouble.
First and simplest, try gently cleaning out the earpiece with a little toothpick, a pin, or better yet blow it out with some air. This seems to work for some people, as overtime gunk can build up inside the screen.
Next, there are a lot of apps that claim to work as volume boosters. Most of them are for speaker volume and not for in-call volume. After sifting through many of them I found one or two that claimed to help in call volume but they really did not work. If you go this route then "happy hunting".
Some ROMs have a hearing aid setting under the Accessibility options but I couldn't tell you which. The ROM I'm using has ways to change the volume steps for all volume settings and that might help (I'm using Liquid Smooth found here in the DEV section).
There is an Xposed module that enables you to adjust some volume steps.
Viper for Android gives you a lot of control over the sound of the device (it has Xloud) and it works well with the Apollo Music Player found on many ROMs but I can't say for sure it helps in-call volume. It sure makes music sound good though.
Last and hardest, if you are rooted and have a file managing app, you can go into the system files and edit them. This would probably require the assistance of a dev who could tell you exactly where these file are located and what the correct settings should be. Of course, there is always a chance of damaging your phone this way.
That's all I know. Hopefully, one of these options will work for you, or someone wiser will jumped in with a better solution. Good luck!
You need to tell everyone what software you are using and how long you have been having a problem.
