Your Input Please...Choose a suspect from my lineup

Hi guys just wondering if I could get some of your thoughts on my situation. Want to buy a new phone to replace my Xda Exec. The problem with my exec is that it is a bit bulky. Want to get something within the next few months, and cost is not a factor. A few of my choices for the replacement are:
-Samsung SGH-i600
*big fan of the slim design plus all connectivity options
-HTC Artemis
*the mouse seems cool but probably wouln't use GPS
-Nokia N95
*seems it has everything
-HTC TyTN
*wouldnt have to wait to buy it but I wanted to go with something different that slide out which I already had with UTStarcomm 6700
If you could pick one of these which would you choose and why? Also any other suggestions would be well appreciated...

Well personally:
Not the Samsung SGH-i600 - because it is a Smartphone, no touch screen, limited apps.
Not the Nokia N95 - because it runs Symbian.
The choice between Artemis and TyTN is a tough one. If you are sure you won't miss the keyboard and you don't mind waiting I would definitely recommend the Artemis. It has way more stuff.

because it have 3g

Not the Samsung - too basic, not the Nokia (could be a decent phone if it ran a decent operating system - forget multiple apps under Symbian).
Artemis - slower processor than the Tytn, but a nice phone. But if you don't need built in GPS I'd go for the Tytn.

- I like the WiFi (if I have to choose that with a GPS - can always have a GPS mouse in my car, IF I have a car)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, must be right. Should just stick with a WM pocket pc phone. Probably go with the Artemis since the processor is faster; i really dislike how slow my Exec got at times.

depends on what you want to do...if you want to use it as a Phone first pda second then go for nokia or samsung because htc's GSM radio implimentation is BAD
if its a pda first thing then go for a ppc...which one would depend on which suits you

T-Mobile Wing vs Tilt vs Nokia N95- Advice please?

After spending much time searching your forums (my goodness you're all so knowledgeable and generous!) I haven't been able to quite answer my questions. I am in dire need of a phone as my crappy motorola is on it's last legs (we're talking buttons falling off, the works) so I've decided to spend some actual money on a decent phone. I've looked around for a while now and have been lusting after the Tilt for some time now. I would have to buy an unlocked one as I am on the T-mobile network and soon moving to Canada and switching to yet another network. My worry, however, is that I've heard and read some really terrible things about the Tilt. RLoD anyone? So while I am very drawn to it, I need a reliable phone, not one that craps out a couple months after I drop $500 on it. The numbers of malfunctioning Tilts/Tytn IIs seem quite high or am I wrong?
I've come to you, oh wise ones, seeking your counsel learned from many hours of alternately cursing and lauding the HTC name, no doubt.
I need a phone that offers me some productivity, email, messaging, multimedia (mostly, I'd like to be able to listen to music). It must have wifi. I would prefer it not drive me to putting my head through a wall. It would be nice if it had a gps receiver (like the Tilt and the N95) as I would like to run garmin mobile on it but could deal with using an external receiver on the Wing, if it turned out to be the best phone for me.
The reason I love the Tilt and Wing models is primarily the keyboard and touch screen. However, the problems people are having with HTC products have left me quite leery of buying one of their phones. Which is why I was also looking at the N95, most of it's reviews have been favourable although the learning curve to get it to the right level of productivity with 3rd party apps seems steeper. I've had Nokia phones before though- those Finnish build for Vikings, I guess. Never had one of those crap out on me.
Anyhow, I've rambled enough. Any advice or information you might want to throw at me would be appreciated. Thank you so much

Given what you are after, I would stay with the Wing or Tilt. While I don't own a Tilt, I have used it a fair amount and I can see where reliability could be an issue. If that is a concern, the Wing (or Herald / P4350) has proven to be a very reliable phone (passed my "Wife" test ). It does not have built in GPS or 3G and the processor is slower, but I think you would be happy with it.
I hate the N95. It is a good (not as good as I expected from the "Carl Z" lens and 5MP) camera, good music player and good reception phone, but most of the other functions suck - IMO. The two way slider drives me crazy because if you accidentally slide open the media controls the screen goes to landscape and the only way to change it back is to slide the keypad section up and then back down.
Personally I like the Touch XL (Elfin). It is SOOO much smaller and lighter than the Tilt and Wing and really the only thing you loose from the Wing is the hard keyboard. There are some great soft keyboards avail. for the Touch that allow me to type just as fast on it as my other devices with the keyboard. Take a look at some of them that I have customized in my signature, for example.

You know, I haven't looked too much at the Touch models. I suppose I just figured if I was willing to go the soft keyboard route, I would take my chances with an unlocked iPhone. I figured I would either get my qwerty keyboard or give it up entirely. There seem to be a few variations of the Touch, and you recommend the XL? I shall have to do some research.
The camera features on the phones are the lowest on my list of needs. More of a bonus than a necessity. Nokia has splashed the Carl Zeiss name all over those N Series phones but at the end of the day, a camera phone is a phone, not a dedicated camera and will always fall short for me as I play with dSLRs, so most of the time I just don't bother with the camera on my phone.

Tilt.........

There have been several threads on this...
in a nutshell, if you need great multimedia / (even 3d hardware accelerated) gaming / call recording / camera / a great phone / being light and small, get the N95. If you need Windows Mobile / a touchscreen / a strcitly built-in keyboard and don't need gaming / multimedia / a good camera / call recoridng capabilities etc. and the much higher weight isn't a problem either, get the Kaiser.
I myself would go for the N95 but that's just because I already have the iPAQ 214 as a WinMo handheld (with which the N95 works together very well) and I use the MM features and the camera (which is just great) of the N95 a lot. But that's me.

I realize there have been several threads on this, but what wasn't fully addressed was the reliability issue. There were more than a few threads on this very site that made the Kaiser sound like a rather lovely, briefly useful, piece of crap.
I suppose I'm wondering how likely it is to die on me (I really haven't been able to find out anything solid on how many/often they malfunction) and for those people that did have it die on them, why did you keep going back for more?
The reason the Wing was in the running (in spite of not having all the featues of the Tilt) is that I haven't read of any huge reliability issue with it as with the Tilt.
So I suppose my question is being posed to those people who have had problems. Would you actually still recommend this phone? (If there is somewhere else I should have posted this, please let me know).

new smartphone

my contract is almost up and im thinking of changing my phone. I currently have an HTC S710 Vox and I can honestly say its been the best phone ive ever owned by a long way. Now im thinking of replacing and I wondered what people thought of the new handsets coming onto the market.
What I Like :
Its a smartphone, before anything else this is a phone and does what a phone should do. I like having a front keyboard and I like being able to text onhanded when im on the move. If im honest i never use the slideout keyboard. Windows mobile 6.1 is excellent and with the newer faster ROMS works smoothly - push email syncing to exchange make this a killer device.
what it lacks :
The camera is poor -ideally a 3.2megpixel with autofocus should be the minimum
3g support
Its a tad bulky
GPS is a nice to have but not essential
So what i want is a smartphone that adds the missing functionality (mainly a good camera) and possibly removes the qwerty keyboard to reduce bulk.
The new Sony X1 and Samsung Omnia seem to tick many boxes - but I lose the front keyboard which for me keeps it a real phone and not a pda hybrid.
What are your thoughts - what are my options ?

What it is I'm with T-mobile and I've been offer a few tariffs one includes free calls all day to all networks and free txt but not including voicemail or mms for £35pm + a handset on a 24 month contract or the same deal without the phone on a 12 month contract.
Also I was offered I think it's called the flex 35 - 900 minutes + my off peak calls to all networks from 7pm - 12am and all weekend with a handset on a 18 month contract.
The phones I was after Nokia N900 - Samsung Omnia Hd or the Hero, phonehone don't seem to have in stock apparently. Just want to check if my choices of phones are worth holding out for.
I would like the phone to have a large display screen, an easy touchscreen to scroll, not like my current htc diamond with it's lousy touchscreen and crappy internet - also I would like it to have tv-out with the option of play xvids on the phone and finally gps so I can install tomtom.
That's it...

Leo, Topaz or Rhodium are great choices to consider if $ is not the problem

$ really isn't but I kinda wouldn't mind staying away from htc for a year or so. Just check out your recommendations on youtube and it's like I'm still seeing my diamond.

I would not expect the N900 to be available from Operators... At least not in a near future. The reason is that the N900 is a fairly open Linux machine, which includes a root shell, meaning you can do anything you like on software terms. This is normally not what Operators like. They prefer to customize a perfectly good phone to death...
My opinion: either get an iPhone or an HTC.
Reasons:
1) iPhone is a great phone, no matter what people say.
2) You can get a pretty good discount for your phone with a contract. After the contract, the phone is probably still worth more than what you had to pay for it.
3) If you prefer Android or WM, go with an HTC: on this forum you will certainly find customized ROM's to get rid of locks and customisations made by the Operator.

Well I guess Htc it is, please I really hope the touch screen as improved significantly from the touch diamond. Is there a main one to really consider or as orbit3000 said either: Leo, Topaz or Rhodium?

Well I guess it's really up to the kind of things you want to do with you device, and what size you want your device to be...
- The Leo is huge and has a superb 4.3 inches capacitive touchscreen, which may please you if you are unsatisfied with your diamond touchscreen. Hardware-wise the Leo is a "new generation" phone that can handle a lot. Rumour says that it may get a WM7 upgrade in the future
- Topaz is the Diamond 2 and has a similar size but a larger touchscreen. The hardware is standard HTC with nothing spectacular
- Rhodium is more business-centric with the sliding keyboard for fast typing. It also has some advanced conf-call features that you may like if you use your phone for your work. Hardware is nothing special either, standard Qualcomm 72XX processor
I would suggest you to go in a shop to get a feeling of the size of the three devices as the Leo and the Rhodium are significantly bigger than your old phone.

N900, HD2 or Nexus 1?

I'm not sure if someone has done a thread like this before but I wanted to know your personal experiences on these 3 devices:
1. N900
2. HD2
3. Nexus 1

I have the n900. It is pretty bad ass. I love the multitasking and flash web browsing. I can access sites like justin.tv with no problems. One thing that is lacking is the amount of good apps available. Which is normal considering its still early in its stages. But with flash, anything that available in apps, I can get from a website. I still prefer apps though. Having android withdrawls after recently dropping my g1. The n900 made a great companion to the G1. I now plan to get the N1 when I am availble for upgrade and use that in companion with the n900.

n900
I've had the N900 since it was released. It is an amazing device, but it has quite a few limitations. I was a previous HTC TYTN II owner and a soon to be Touch Pro2 owner. I am thinking about switching to the Touch Pro2 and selling my N900 for a couple of reasons. The N900 is an extremely powerful device with a ton of potential. However, with MeeGo coming out, slow firmware updates, etc. I am not sure that it is the best choice over the HD2 or Nexus One.
Limitations From my POV (reasons I may switch back to WM)
-Sync with Google/Ovi is incomplete/not working unless you use a 3rd party solution
-Landscape only!!! This can get really annoying while doing things such as driving
-Limited app selection - Missing MANY important things: Google Maps is a good example (Ovi Maps isn't very good)
-Maybe not a true smartphone? - The built-in PIM functions feel really limited in scope when compared to WM and S60 (not sure about android)
-Keyboard is OK, but it is a bit cramped - it doesn't slide out very far and it only has 3 rows
-Expensive ~$500 - You can find a Touch Pro2 for as low as $275 or less if you shop around
-The hardware inside is amazing and it 'looks' nice, but the casing feels average if not somewhat cheap for such an expensive device
Other things to think about
-Maemo browser is amazing, but Opera 10 for WM is pretty much just as good, w/ the exception of Flash
-Maemo has a great interface and multi-tasking
-automatic application updates and a good amount of free applications that are centrally located (easy to find)
-N900 has 32GB built in - although 16GB cards and soon 32GB cards will be available soon
-N900's Camera and screen are amazing
Basically what it comes down to is that the N900 has AMAZING hardware specs and performs well, but Maemo is really incomplete and its future on the N900 is unknown with MeeGo coming up. Also don't forget to factor in limited application selection and sync abilities (syncML doesn't exist OTA on N900).
EDIT: I forgot to add, that I guess the main deciding factor in me choosing the Touch Pro2 may have been cost as well. Its hard to carry around something so expensive, worrying about messing it up or losing it. Swapping phones w/ TP2 would save me ~$250. If I were you I'd choose the Nexus One as Android really is looking to be the big future platform to compete with iPhone, but this phone is somewhat expensive as well.

Does the n900 lag? someone told me that when you have multiple sms's going, the internet, and music it lags and skips and what not. I hope this isn't the case. I like the actual keyboard, which is one of the main reasons I'm getting it, but I also like N1s voice activated sms and etc. I guess I'll just wait and see!

It has a tiny tiny amount of lag when switching programs and all that but its nothing bad at all considering the abilities of the phone (n900).
But I only plan on carrying one device at a time. I just got the touch pro2 so once I decide which to keep I'll sell the other.

I don't mind carrying around two phones. One is for regular calls and the other is for "business" calls (got to keep the feds off me! ). As for lag, I have not noticed it. I've ran multiple web pages with flash video, AIM, app manager, internet radio and took photos all at the same time with no lag.

I simply loooove the n900!!!

If you want the Nexus One, I suggest you to wait for HTC Desire, it's the HTC version of Nexus One, expect if you love the nexus one design.
