does anyone know how its right get his TNT roms to scroll extremely fast in comparison to other roms? is it something that need to be cook into the rom or is it just a registry edit?
I use KaiserTweak to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349009
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898
i dont' see the setting for it. what is it under?
Damn it! I thought was KaiserTweak that I used to change these settings, I'm going to find out what was...
Sorry!
I'd also be keen to know... my wife uses one of the TNT Roms on her Wizard; I'm cooking my own and really like the faster scrolling!!
TIA
then dump your wife's registry and compare the difference with CERegEditor. You can compare two reg files, and all that will be shown are differences.
I hope you will post the results here.
I personaly don't like scroling too fast. so I cooked the diamonds, smart scroling dlls to help me stop scroling too fast. it actually works quite well in my rom. I can actualy stop the scroling with the pressing of my finger without accidentaly opening a program.
the packages for scroling and gesture are located in the diamond cabs and oem thread on the dev/hacking forum. worth the 40mb download just for these two things.
i no longer have a wizard to compare registry, but would like to apply the speedy scroll to my tilt.
I've noticed
on my Hermes, that when the windows directory starts to get bogged down with all kinds of crap it affects the scrolling.
Try the attach file and see if it helps!
I use "AdvancedConfig" to change this
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"RepeatRate"=dword:00000017
"InitialDelay"=dword:000000ff
"EnableIndicator"=dword:00000001
thanks to its right.
thanks a lot its right.that is what i was looking for ages.you registry settings is working great.scrooling is very fast now.thanks again.
can the setting be apply to the kaiser with the same effect? and is the hex or decimals.
thanks for the setting again.
Set the speed of scorling as you like from start/settings/buttons/Up/Down Control ,, then take the values from the registry and include them in your cooking.
it work on my kaiser like a charm. now i just got to figure out how to write a cab file or it.

I don't know much about TouchFLO and how much resources it would take up if I use it. I wanna cook it into a ROM but I... well... I just don't know if it's really worth it.
I'm using Slide2Unlock, ContactsManager, iPhone Lookalike, and even the iPhone_en phone skin. I'm doing this to prove to friends that you don't really need an iPhone to really get the awesome feeling.
So basically, TouchFLO is the last frontier (for now I guess). So guys, give me some feedback on resources, looks, feels, and what I should embrace or get ready for...
... I'm scared...
I have a Touch. All the TouchFLO apps are loaded at start up via \Windows\Startup and stay resident:
- biotouch.exe (behind-the-scenes app to activate/deactivate cube)
- APlauncher.exe (face of the cube that launches apps)
- MediaHubMini.exe (face of the cube that launches media apps/folders)
- QuickDial.exe (face of the cube for picture dialling)
I haven't done any tests on how much memory they use up, but odds-on it's a fair old whack. The UI seems to come up fairly quickly when I smear my thumb up the screen, so I'm guessing that they've tweaked the priority of the processes up a fair bit.
On the plus side, if it can run on a 201MHz OMAP, it can pretty much run on anything!

True. No offense meant mate, but 201Meg OMAPs are rather slow. Most other procs out there are faster, if not MUCH faster. However, some devices are still having difficulty porting the finger gestures. Zephus mate, what device are you using?
my apologies. Your using an 8125. Didn't notice that
Just remember the HTC Touch uses the 200M OMAP processor.
Well then doesn't seem like there would be much of a problem with overclocking a Wizard to >200. But I'm not really looking to use the cube, rather I just want to use finger scrolling and such around other pages. I believe TouchFLO allows that (I could be wrong...) but I'll try the cube anyway.

No siree. the finger scrolling is controlled by the touch.dll file in the windows folder. I am attaching it here, throw it in your windows folder and see if it works. if it doesnt, install the 4 exes and that should work but you do need touch.dll
as for the cube, I have a 8125 and the cubeis a bit laggy at reg speeds but if you use the dynamic oc from batterystatus ext and set to 247, the cube flows like it does on the touch.
let me figure out how to attach a file and youll have it in a second.
heres the touch.cab so you can install the whole package at once
and just the dll, throw it in your windows folder before you install the cab, soft reset and see if the scrolling starts working. if not, install the cab
Now scared of overwriting touch.

Well actually, I just can't seem to overwrite it just yet, not until I use Total Commander, but thanks though. This seems helpful to at least try it out until I cook it.
Yeah, touch.dll killed my screen on my Wizard. Had to "Clear Storage" to get it back up again. And the .cab with TouchFLO didn't contain the cube unfortunately. Oh well...
I'll just cook it as an experiment. Face my fears.
usually with activesync you can overwrite but if you got it workin there you go
Any1 know how to completely disable (i dont want it in memory too) Touch FLO?
Hey...
Try this:
\\\REGISTRY\HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings\
EnableCube = 0 (original = 1)
It worked on my MDA Touch and i know it worked on some Orbit 2 too....
Tweaking instead of On/Off
The Polaris also has a number of other registry entries under TFLOSettings that, in addition to allowing you to turn Touch FLO on or off, also enable you to tweak its sensitivity. Does anyone know if these settings documented somewhere? I've done a search and found bits and pieces of information but not all the information in one place. Thanks.
WHY, oh why?

Question: Why would you want to disable TouchFLO? I personally think TFLO is the best invention since sliced bread...

I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351082 under Tips & Tricks (post #6) from the Nike forum but it works on the Polaris. I changed the Touch Flo settings on both my Nike and Polaris from 15 to 50 and now it's much faster. Hope this helps, let me know.
Excluding Apps from TouchFlo

I like TFLO. However, certain apps like PhatPad which I use don't behave well with it. So I would like to exclude certain apps from TFLO. I could do this with fTouchFlo by editing a config file. However, I don't know how to do this with TFLO and a search didn't find anything. Anyone help would be appreciated.
Disable TouchFLO - to do or not to do . . .

Good for you. To each his own.
I DON'T like it.
I want to use stylus or buttons only. I don't give a damn about finger functions on the screen.
Let people do what they want. Help them if you are interested and you can, but no need to denigrate them.
Don't take this as a flame - no offense intended - I just recognize that whatever feature exists for any mechanical device, some will love it, some will be indifferent, some will hate it.

I am not sure that is possible. Your best best is to make the PhatPad developers aware of whatever issues you are having so a possible fix can be applied to future versions of the app.
I want also disable TouchFlo and replace it with the 4 cube version SCLPF
Hello, I have my polaris for a week now.
But I have the oppsite problem. My TFLO is disabled, but I don't know why!
I dont have my Polaris in landscape mode, so it should work.
I don't have any strange programms installed.
Can anyone help me with this?
TFLO has reg settings to disable for certain apps. Eg there's one for photo album there.
Is there anyway I can benefit from TouchFlo and some of the SPB softwares (like phone suite, Spb diary, mobile shell etc.) both?
I would like to see multiple appointments on my today screen and also the task list by categories which is very important.
Moreover, I have found that the sound stuff doesnt work properly on any of these roms available here unless i use mobile shell which really keeps phone silent only when i have a calender item that marks me busy. TouchFlo sound option keeps the phone silent eventhough someone's birthday is there on the calendar or even if my out of office event is there on calendar..
when i killed twice manilla2d.exe all that absolutly useless (for me and maybe some other users) stuff as panel in the bottom and large alarm clock which makes my device stupid disappeared. now there is clean screen with wallpaper. very nice, i like it but there is string "tap here to launch touchflo tm". is it possible to disable manilla2d.exe startup on every boot and this start link on the screen? (via system registry file?)
so when it is completely disabled it would be perfect to have some tiny alternative as clock in system tray or on the screen. and one more useful possible function is smth like custom desktop shortcuts.
do you now such software programs?
htc touch elf, wm 6.1

So i purchased my Fuze on Monday, and its my first WM device.
Overall its a great device and i like it more than my iPhone.
Ive been recently trying to customize it and ive downloaded nice TF3D themes, and done some registry editting to change the sliding sound.
What i want to know is if there is another way to make the Fuze run and perform alot faster than how it runs out of the Box.
I did some of the performance TWEAKS that i found on a Touch Pro thread. and that worked. But is their anything else that you guys would recommend? Maybe deleting unused programs? or idk.
I dont really like, that there is some Lag when switching thru the tabs in TF3d, and the long loading times for opening programs.
Mind you, that i dont want to go through the effort of installing a new ROM. Mainly because of the fact that i cant seem to find a perfectly good, tutorial on how to do this.
Thanks

You pretty much answered your own question. The registry and adv config tweaks (make sure to increase file sys cache too) are your best hope, IMO.
But if you want smooth performance all the time, flashing is your only option. With NATF's rom, TF3D is only jerky now on initial startup. After 2min, it's smooth, even if I have mp3s playing in media player running in the background.
I only wish 640x480 video playback was faster...

search for diamond tweak. install that...take a look at the performance tab. max out the cache settings...all 3 of them. there is a bunch other good tweaks in there as well.
Please see this thread.

I have been around here a bit and have searched and found the ELFIN threads but can someone please explain the what and why behind the TF2d replacements?
I would also appreciate what exactly one needs to play with them if they are as cool looking as they seem. I have the v20 zip but I am not sure how or even if I should proceed with installs of the numbered files.
ANY Help on this would be greatly appreciated!
rac
most of the stuff you may not need to install if you dont want too but plug your phone to your pc and then transfer the files to a place on your phone.
say make a folder on the storage card and then start with number 1 and go all the way till the end. you may see a file called manila test or something well thats the M2D theme but you want to install the other items 1st.
if you have a touch you may have to disable your cube which is easy, just replace 3 files on your phone in the windows folder.
its good to get a registry editor also you may need it
Thanks for the help, I have the reg editor. Can you be a bit more specific as to which 3 files I need to replace and replace with what?
Can you give me some background as to why TF2D is better than TF3D. Really, nowhere is this addressed. I have various themes for TF3D, different clocks, icons, etc. What does one get by installing and using TF2D???
rac
well first what pone do u have, because dependig on the phone you have, manilla 3d may not work. so far its only on the diamond, hd, touchpro, and sum have it on teh xperia. manila 2d is for those who like the way 3d looks but dont have a 3d capable phone. manilla 2d is not better than 3d, but its pretty much the same, without the 3d animations.
just noticed u have a fuze. disregard my last statement. u dont need tf2d cuz ur phone comes with 3d already. dont even wori about the cube edits, because ur phone doesnt come with a cube.
EDIT: you just need the tf3d editor. its somewhere around here. use the search. im not sure as to where exactly it is.
TF2D and TF3D are completely different. TF3D is built for devices with a stronger hardware accelerator but has been ported so that it is somehow (poorly) useful on other devices.
TF2D fits most devices now.
The main difference between userwise is graphics.
TF3D has a nicer looking interface (at least in my eyes).. has animated weather, animated clock...
TF2D doesn't have those.. and is mostly static (besides the bottom buttonbar).
You can't really measure how much TF3D or TF2D are "better" than each other. it depends on which device you've got and what you expect graphicswise and usabilitywise.
If you have the EFLIN, i'd suggest either using TF2D or... FEWidgets...(you can search for FEwidgets and see what it's all about).
cheers
Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for in an answer to my question. I really am having a ball checking what each icon set or clock is going to look like and I wondered where TF2D fit into this universe.
Thanks for the answer!
rac
btw, i personally suggest at least trying FEWidgets. I'm using it now and it's undoubtfully the best interface i ever had. looks and usability.
i cant find a manila tf3d cab from a touch diamond pro to put on my fuze i have looked and looked can someone help plezzz
What exactly are you trying to change about TouchFLO?
If you're trying to improve performance, I don't believe there's any advantage to the HTC OEM TF3D vs the AT&T branded one. In fact, installing it again will just take up more memory, which is more likely to decrease performance. Try installing Touch Pro Tweak/Diamond Tweak and using it to tweak TouchFLO for speed.
If you're trying to remove the AT&T tab, there are several Manila (codename for TF3D) customizers which will do this; they also allow you to make other modifications.
If you want a 'better' TF3D, there are TF3D2 "Rhodium Manila" beta cabs sitting around; I don't believe any of them are perfect, but the newer ones seem to be working pretty nicely (i.e. no major usability glitches).
If you really want to improve how the phone works, including how TouchFLO works, you can flash a new ROM. There are dozens of guides floating around on how to do it, and as long as you're careful, the process is reversible so you can still send the phone to AT&T if you have a warranty complaint.
i have the oem for tf3d1 cfc with the original htc theme. you can prolly put it into a cab or grab the files you need or something. im not sure if it will install over. i put it into the kitchen when im building.
i used to have a tilt and i would soft reset it before att would load all their bull i did that on my fuze and tf3d wasn't there thats why i need a tf3d cab i tryed the rhodium cad and every thing didn't work like my email and i want a youtube short cut on the internet tab and the theme sucks i need someone to sit down and show me how to flash a rom i read all the threads about it but im a hands on person so thats where im at on roms
Ok so i can change the theme but its hard finding one that works well i have the HTC black theme but it makes the touchflo run vary vary slow even when i tweak the memory setting but what really want is to get the youtube shortcut on the internet tab can someone help me with that
Look here for several tweaks that will have your phone running like a champ. Mine is like a new phone after going through the thread.
