Hello,
since today I have a serious problem with syncing. I sync my PPC with Mail2Web, my Vista PC and my HTC Shift.
The problem: With all of these a simple Sync deletes all my birthday appointments within my calendar!
This morning I made a full backup with SKTools, so I can recreate always my PIM data - the appointments are not fully lost.
I tried this:
1. I deleted my partnership with my Vista PC.
2. I disabled all the Synchronization with Mail2Web
3. I restored my PIM Data
4. I changed all my birthday appointments using Pocket Informant 8.1
(Status "Busy" to "Free" and the names from "xxx" to "xxx's birthday")
5. At last I connected my PPC via cable to my Vista PC, set up, which items have to be synced and the whole PIM Data gets refreshed.
Result: Birthdays are still being deleted
What else can I do? I also checked "Keep the item on my device" setting within ActiveSync, but syncing with Mail2Web also deletes all this content

Hi all, I have a sync problem here just wonder if anyone has the same problem. I installed Faria's WM6 some time back and it was fine syncing with XP. Recently I upgraded my XP to vista and installed mobile device synchronisation center and I tried to sync with outlook 2007.
The device seemed to be unable to sync as the sync center said syncing in progress for a long long time. I waited 1 hour once before I unplugged it. I found that by selecting only files and notes, I was able to sync in less than 5 minutes. However if I selected to sync contacts, tasks or calendars the device would be unable to sync. I created a new outlook data file which was empty and tried to sync again but unsuccessful. I hope not to have to do a hard reset to try to sync so if anyone got any ideas I would be happy to try them.
you could try syncing to MS Excgange server for now (port88.org) ... for calendr, try goosync
i dont require email sync and i dont really want to have to find individual solutions for calendar, contacts or tasks. any other suggestions to solve my syncing issue?
I bought a Samsung i640 (wm6) a couple of days ago, but I do not manage to get my contacts from my pc (Win XP, office 2007) to my phone. I am trying to sync by USB cable (comes with the phone) by Activesync 4.5.
I tried a lot of things, all of which did not help. I tried:
- the Activesync 4.5 from the phone package
- the Activesync 4.5 downloaded from Microsoft.com
- Activesync 4.2, not supported by the phone, as the phone says
- deleted the phone profile from Activesync and re-installed it several times
- deleted and re-installed Activesync serverel times
- used the replace phone items with pc items setting, and the combine items setting
- used several Activesync settings, and unchecked the advanced network functionality setting in the phone
- checked my firewall (Kaspersky) settings, disabled Kasperky
- ran the Activesync troubleshoot functionality, no problems found
- checked the .pst file, no problems found
When I added items to my agenda on the phone, they synced nicely to Outlook. Also, a test contact created on the phone appeared in Outlook, but a contact created in Outlook did not appear on the phone.
After trying to sync on a different pc (Win XP, Outlook 2003) the contacts, which I copied to a .pst file from Outlook 2007, nicely appeared in my phone. When I connected to my own pc at home, the contacts appeared as doubles in Outlook, taken from the phone. After deleting some double contacts, they got deleted from my phone as well, although there still was one entry in Outlook.
I decided to clean the profiles from Activesync from my phone, after which all my data on the phone were deleted as well. After syncing again, I noticed that my contacts did not return, as I expected. Also, I noticed some agenda items appeared in my agenda, but only the one which were placed into Outlook from my phone, and the ones created in Outlook did not move to my phone.
So, I think some sort of connection error is on my pc, in Outlook 2007, as all items from my phone get to my pc, but not the other way around. Also, I think my phone settings are corrected, as I managed to put my contacts via Activesync 4.5 on my phone on a different pc.
I hope someone can help me, as I have no clue how to solve did, and I did not find any information on the internet in different forums.
Thanks in advance.
well.... its very strange but when i make any change on outlook calander on pc and/or serwer i cant see the changes on the pda.
but if i make changes or new apointments on pda it shows on the pc and on the serwer system.
i sync throw the serwer.
hope someone can figure this strange issue.
Had this issue as well, and I just solved it:
- Connect the Mobile Device to the Computer and make sure all your appointments are listed on the desktop.
- Disable Calender Sync in ActiveSync
- A message will pop-up, saying that all appointments will be erased from the Mobile Device. Accept this and continue.
- Enable Calender Sync in ActiveSync
- Happy 2-way Syncing
hi rudolf
i have tried your suggestions but with no success.
i am syncing throw exchange server.
first the massege showed its delleting all apointments but when rechecking the calender option it resync all apointments but noun of tham shown on the calander itself.
if you have any suggestion i will be happy to try anything.
thanks

Hi guys,
I had my HD sync'd to my home computer, and everything was nicely uptodate (calendars, contacts/phonebook, notes etc).
I decided to install activesync on my work computer and sync it to that while at work. It said that "an existing partnership was on my phone with another computer", and asked me if I wanted to create a new partnership - so I did. But I made sure I did NOT sync my works outlook or calender, it was just a pairing, no data to sync.
Now i've come back home, plugged my HD back into my home computer, and it says that "an existing partnership was on my phone with another computer", and asked me if I wanted to create a new partnership, so I did (again). But this time it errors when trying to sync, and worse yet, all my calender appointments, and my entire contact list is empty on the phone!!
(im not stressing too much because I have a PIM backup, and everything still exists within outlook on my computer anyway)... But whats going on?
Is there a file or something stored on the phone that tells the computer that it is already partnered?
Is it possible to sync two machines?
Any advice, or help would be much appriciated.
Thanks.
Any ideas guys?
i just got the at&t fuze as an upgrade from the tilt (kaiser) i have all my contacts on my computer but i cannot get it to sync onto the phone. i also have my latest backup file created with sprite backup but when i go to restore it tells me that i need some sort of "sbu" file to go from the old version of sprite to the new one on the fuze.
i would prefer to get all my old text messages back as well as my contacts by using the backup but it would be fine if i could just get it sync'd with outlook. please, can someone help me.
and yes befoe you flame me i have searched the forums but have come up short of a solution.
AFAIK, Sprite won't restore because you have a different device.
SPB backup works for inter-device restorals but only for PIM data.
FYI, PIM restorals will make manila function incorrectly. I suggest using Microsoft My Phone to back up and restore PINM data.
Can you sync through WMDC?
If you can sync but outlook is not syncing, its in your sync settings.
WMDC? Windows media? yes it will let me sync thru that, at least it shows up in the sync center anyway. i dont use my phone for playing music, i have tried installing the old acticesync 4.5 driver, tried turning off the advanced network functionality and i cant remember what else, name off some things and i'll let you know if i've tried them.
one thing i just noticed is that it shows up under portable devices as a windows mobile device
WMDC, Windows Mobile Device Center replaced active sync in Vista.
If you can see your device in WMDC, then you should be able to set up your outlook sync relationship through there.
I have sync'd to outlook this way previously but I only have POP3 going into outlook so I just bypass it.
when i open wmdc all it shows me is the settings window that lets you change settings like allow usb connections, whether to accept connections from bluetooth or com3 etc. i cant get it to show me anything else
SOLVED, i found a link to a tutorial that fixed it all. here http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/11/22/how-to-sync-your-windows-mobile-device-to-a-windows-vista-pc/
