O2 XDA Stellar - help required - General Topics

I plan to upgrade to the O2 XDA Stellar, however, before I do so (and spend a lot of money) I was wondering if any kind soul who already owns the phone can help me out. Since the stellar comes with windows mobile 6, is it possible to send and receive contacts and appointments as text messages? (Read this post for more info) I know many nokia phones can do this. This is not possible on my XDA IIi (windows mobile 2003) and my friends XDA MiniS (windows mobile 5). Can anyone who owns this phone let me know? It will take only 2 mins of your time.
Also, while comparing the XDA stellar with the XDA IIi, I found that the Stellar has a Qualcomm MSM7200, 400MHz while the XDA IIi has a Intel Xscale PXA272 520 MHz. Do you know which one has the more powerful processor? The XDA IIi seems to run at 520MHz which is faster compared to the Stellar (400MHz) howevr, I'm not sure if the Qualcomm processor is faster than the PXA272
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi,
You can see my device info from my Sig (BTW I'm on WM6.1). I have successfully sent a contact via SMS to myself, but I cannot see a way to send appointments by SMS.
I can send one as a vCard (which also does contacts), but that goes via an MMS message rather than SMS.
I have not looked at the XDA IIi, so I cannot compare, however the Stellar is fast enough for what I want, and I still prefer it to my Wizard (Which was WM6.0).
HTH
Dave

Thanks for that Dave. I thought appointments were sent through vCalendar (.vcs). Is there anyway to perhaps right click on a calendar entry and send that through sms? Also, I believe MMS are charged for and not included within your monthly text messages. Am I right?
The reason I'm so fussy about sending appointments via text messages is because my wife and I need to sych our appointments. There have been a number of times that I've created an appointment for the two of us only to cancel it later. If this works, she can text me the appointment as soon as she creates it which then goes into my calendar and vice versa keeping us both in synch
Not sure if any software does this

Theres no option on this Calendar to send Appts via SMS. I don't use MMS that much, but if I recall correctly one MMS == 4 SMS's. I have a 500 free SMS's a month on my £35 pcm contact so I wouldn't notice. You'd best check with O2 customer services for how they bill MMS's.
If you pay £35 pcm or more you get a free bolt on. I have the unlimited data bolt on. So with that and exchange server access (free from mail2web.com) you could sync your calendar via outlook. Just an idea...
EDIT: I'm off home now, I will try and check back if I get on my PC later, if there is anything else I can help with

HTC S710 Outlook Text

Hi Fellow Smartphone Users.
I have just moved over from a Treo 750V to the HTCS710
despite a few concerns playing with the handset did it in the end as i wanted a new toy.
Anyway the new version of outlook does not give you a option to select text from send messages. Some times you only want to send some text you have had in a email on to another party........How?.
I have tried sissor mobile and this will let you do it in a email you are writing but not one you have received?.
There was another program i noted Vitocopy however this does not seem to work on this handset...!
Any ideas?
Use Jeyo Mobile Extender 2.5
www.jeyo.com
Sorry rahulgty
Jeyo Mobile Extender 2.5 does not seem to have that function
If you go into a mail you have sent and try to access the text within the email you can see it but not copy it...
Again if someone has sent you an email you can again see the text but not access this text, other than view it.
Its crazy it is supposed to be a smarthphone.

Migrating to a new phone?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using a friend's old imate JasJam, but am getting a HTC Touch Pro within the next week (phone store didn't have any in stock so they ordered one in for me, should be coming Monday or Tuesday). Now, I've been using the jasjam for a while, and so have a lot of stuff on it. My question is, is there an easy way to copy:
- SMS messages (inbox and sent)
- contacts (including Windows Live Messenger contacts that were synced)
- phone call history
From my current phone onto a new one? What app would be best for this, assuming such an app exists? Can ActiveSync achieve this?
Thanks =]
you can sync the first 2 with activesync to outlook
first require a 3th party software though
Try PIMBackup, not sure it does windows live but it certainly does all the rest.
Thanks for the help, I'll be sure to try PIMBackup

Appointment sync question

You guys where so good at helping me before I was hoping you could try again!
I have been searching for the way to fix this and the best I seem to be able to come up with on here is the Moblie2web site but this doesnt do what my wife wants (or atleast for free!)
My wife had a Curve on this I would send her my calendar and updates as I fly around this vast country of ours. She would update me on when she and the kids would be home or not. Our calendars always in syn both on the laptops and the devices (me through a blackberry server from work, her by syncing to the device and just having the calendar on the device send attendees notifications) now the atendees notifications on her Fuze go into the outlook outbox and since she does email in real time not by syncing the device the invitation sits in the outbox. Is there a way to make this invitation be sent out in the mail as it was on the Curve?
Shareo
Maybe Shareo would work for you, I use it with my wife cause she doesnt sync to often but atleast it in her outlook. The company has multiple software types and for the price its not bad at all
http://www.shareo.com
I do not think this will help as she wants to send me the invite right away off her mobile and this will still go into her outlook outbox rather then the mail outbox on her mobile device (the one thats sends out her email from the device.) Is there a away to just my the invites go to the correct outbox?
I hope I am reading this right.
You want to send attendees notifications via the TP? The best way I think of is to set a pop email account on TP, then in Calendar options set send notifications via that pop account.
You could try blackberry connect software and use your blackberry option if you have not cancelled you blackberry data plan yet?
I did cancel and went to the 50 data plan
I dont know what TP is ;(
See I set up her email account from our ISP
email works fine
on BB she was able to open caalendar and invite me
the invite would be auto mail through ISP email setup on bb
now the invite goes into the "Outlook Outbox" found by going to the ISP inbox then going down to the Outlook section... It sounds confusing even to me!

Auto pushing of e-mail to SMS

Hi,
Anyone have come across some software that will forward e-mail to be a SMS to another user?
may be a PC with a WM5/6 phone connected 24/7...
when a e-mail reach the outlook of the PC, it will auto send out as a SMS to a number?
or a WM5/6 phone on 24 hour and connected to the internet, once it get a e-mail, it will forward out as a SMS?
Thank in adv.

I'm not sure about using outlook to do it, but with gmail, you can create filters to forward emails.
The only downfall is that it cuts off the message after the 160 character limit.

But my service provider didn't give me a e-mail address for me to forward to become an SMS.
Who is your provider? mine does something like [email protected] so, I would wonder if yours would do something similar.
Mine is Singtel from Singapore...

Problem: Outlook Mobile needs sooo much time for e-mails/imap

Hello Community,
maybe you can help me. I have a HTC Touch Pro 2, and i like it, but since years i have the same problem with all windows mobile devices:
when i want syncing my e-mails (Via imap) and with outlook mobile it takes sooo much time until i get the e-mails. i had 1500 e-mails so i deleted 1000. now i have just 540 e-mails and it still needs almost the same long time.
is this problem known? is there any fix available, a registry tweak or something like that to fix this awful problem?
i would be very pleased if you could help me
ps: i dont want to use other e-mail programs because they are never as good implemented as the original from microsoft...
greetings from germany
andi
Does nobody has a answer for me? i think there are more windows mobile people in the world experiencing this problem.
greets
Why do you sync all the 540 e-mails from outlook ? Make "Ordner" and sync allways the newest. Is your rom orig. ?
First, I think this belongs in the Q&A forum(?)
Second, I agree it is slow, but only during the initial sync after creating the email account in the phone. If you want to avoid this delay, just use PIMBackup to restore your emails to the account on the phone directly. Other suggestions would be to:
1. Reduce the number of emails synced to the phone, i.e. select the last 30 days, etc.
2. Reduce the size of the emails by syncing only parts of the message, not the entire message.
3. Reduce the max size of attachements or don''t sync them.
4. Sync emails as regular text, not html. (But I don't know if this really improves speed...)
This also depends a lot on your bandwidth so check your signal strength, and compare sync speeds between WiFi, 3G, ActiveSync passthru, etc. I did have some problems with authentication on previous 6.1 ROMS where poutlook kept re-trying to login to the account and would stall forever, but haven't seen this in the latest builds.
This is no way is DEV. so please don't post it here.
Moved to Q&A.
Please read rules, and post in the correct forums.
