WM5 ActiveSync Error 0x80072F78 when syncing with Exchange - General Topics

Hi Guys,
I have a fair number of Orange E650's which connect to my Exchange server via GPRS/3G (Orange Internet).
Theyve been working fine for months until this week we moved our mail server to another site. Nothing at all has changed on the server, only its address.
Outlook Web Access works fine, which is what ActiveSync uses to sync with the server, but for some reason I now get this error.
I can use IE on the phones to access OWA with no problems, but when ActiveSync tries to connect it just gives me this error.
If I use the wrong username and password it comes back to me to verify them so it must be contacting the server to verify the credentials, therfore it can be a DNS or Cache problem.
I've just done a hard reset on one of the phones and get the same issue when I setup the email account.
Does anyone have any ideas?

FUZEinMYpants,
Are you using a large outfit like gmail or something like your company email? If the latter, does it only work on wifi when you are on your company's wifi network or Starbucks' wifis as well?
The reason I'm asking is that depending on the email servers (there are two, one for sending, the other for receiving mostly) you may only be able to interact with them if your coming from an IP address that falls within the range of whatever the administrator set. I for example could not send email when I went down to Florida because AT&T gave me a too different IP address than what I get in New York so I had to ssh into my email server and modify the range.
Your admin may only allow email to be relayed out and/or read if you're on the LAN which in this case, in your office or college on their wifi network connected to the local area network to which the mail servers are connected.
If that's not it then we may have a connectivity problem with your settings. Maybe a bad proxy configuration, your email server doesn't like wap.cingular which is behind a nat, maybe your email server requires a type of encryption you're either not specifying or is not supported by Pocket Outlook, maybe they're using imap and not pop and you're mixing that up, maybe they don't have encryption but they used funky ports for the vanilla protocols -- I'm going to stop typing until you tell me what the story is with your email setup.
In the meantime, to hold yourself over with the phone and without wifi, consider getting your mail through a webmail thing your server may run (I run roundcube) using Opera or PIE, depending on the webmail interface.

Check the setting in your email settings under advanced server settings and make sure that it says Netowrk conncetion media net or att isp. I have seen it default to Work and that locks it into Wifi. I send and recieve email everyday on EDGE since I do not have 3g within 40 miles of here.

email account does not recognise wi-fi

I have a HTC HD2 unit and after setting up my email details it fails to recognise that I am connected via wi-fi at home and work. when ever I try to send/receive it tells me that there is no service. This problem has only started after updating the ROM to 1.72.841.0 (this is the Telstra version as I am in Australia). Telstra have an agreement with HTC to have a number of default settings installed which direct you to use their pay for services. I have been able to bypass most of these.
I have asked my phone service provider to block data services so that my only connection to the internet is via wi-fi at home and work.
I have tried to go to the settings/advanced and set the network to My ISP but still have no result.
I am able to send and receive emails on my work email account as I have installed the certificate required.
Can anyone give me some idea as to how to fix this problem?
I have found a way to resolve my issue

Change Exchange server name

I have a problem with several Android phones, in that I need to change the Exchange server name. They have all worked fine externally over 3G as the server name they seem to have been set up with (e.g. domain.com) resolves to the external IP address of the network, which serves Exchange and web servers etc.
However we now need to connect them internally via a WiFi network but on the internal network the web servers and Exchange are on different servers, so domain.com resolves to the web servers and mail.domain.com resolves to Exchange. As mail.domain.com also resolves to the same IP as domain.com externally, they should have been set up with mail.domain.com from the start, but only now we are needing to connect via WiFi is the problem showing up.
Anyway, long explanation, short question: how do I change the server name, as from the Edit Account screen the Server Address box is greyed out?

Connecting Infuse to Microsoft Exchange Server....Help!

Im trying to connect my Infuse to a ms exchange server. The phone is running 2.2 and is not rooted. I have selected setup a new mail account. I have put in the following:
[email protected]password
Then I hit "manual setup" and selected ms exchange server.
Then for "domain\username" i have sunsetcorp\username
Password is entered
for "exchange server" I have mail.sunset.corp
Then I also have use secure connection and accept all ssl certificates checked.
Its says "checking incoming server settings". Then I get "Setup could not finish ... unable to connect to server"
Do I the settings wrong or am I missing something?
Looks like u have it set ok. I have to do [email protected]/password and run it multiple times to get it to sync the first time. Keep trying its not perfect at all. You can also try droidmail if u still can't get it

I would ask your IT dept. for the exact server information to be sure you are inputting the correct server info. Everything else is good to go in your setup so it has to be the server name is not correct causing the failed connection.

Take out the domain setup all together.
I run SBS 2003 and you do not need to set up the domain. I run the following on dozens of phones.......
Domain/Username (must be exact usually with no spaces)
Password (case sensitive)
Exchange Server (mail.yourcompany.com)
uncheck Use secure connection (You can check it later if you wish after you have it working)
Hope this helps! If so please hit the thanks button for me!
For the exchange server try using the IP address of the server. This is the only way I could get mine to work.
This sounds silly, but have you ever connected another phone to this server? That setting isn't always available. Also, I've found the / or \ can make a huge difference. Also, check to make sure you are using the primary email account and not a secondary alias for the username. The email address can be an alias but username has to be the actual NT username. Hope that helps!

Have been using Exchange for years and work very closely with our Exchange guy's and the username must be Domain\Username if you are on a 2003 box and usually but not always the username on 2007/2010 would be the email address but the Domain\Username should also work according to the experts. If you are using Active Sync which we are I am pretty sure that SSL is a requirement because it connects to Exchange using RPC over HTTP protocol and requires SSL being enabled. Like I said a quick call to your IT people should get it working toot sweet.

I use SBS2003 and do not have the domain name. User name only. (the domain username though) Been working for years that way. mail server is the important one to have the domain address correct in. mail.xxxxxxx.com
If I put the domain name in front of the username it does not connect.....
I suddenly have a problem after loading Zeus. My external SD card is working fine then when I set up the exchanger server and get my mail working it wants to encrypt the SD card (according to company policy)
Now I no longer have access to the SD card, it says cannot mount or format and I if I remove the exchange account I get the SD card back.

[Q] Active Synch Bug

I have this very annoying bug in Windows Phone 7. I wonder if anyone has any kind of work around for this:
"
Reverse proxy configured to use Certificate Based Authentication for Exchange Activesync
Exchange CAS servers configured for Basic Authentication for Exchange Activesync
The users can synchronize when the connection is first setup but after a while the device stops presenting
basic authentication credentials to the Exchange CAS server and starts prompting for username/password continuously.
"
Thank you very much.
