Opera 9.5 issues: zoom and Links - Touch Cruise General

Hello guys,
I have been away for some time now, but I would like to know if any of you found any solution for these 2 problems with opera 9.5 and our devices:
1st: the scroll wheel zoom feature: In my device spinning the wheel just makes me pan horizontally, doesn't matter what i do or configure. I made some searches but found nothing about it.
2nd: linking problem: with opera 8.X i could select the browser to act as "default". Therefore, whenever I opened a link from my mail application (for example), opera handled it. Now, with 9.5, only Internet explorer handles my links.
Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks!

I don't thjnk there is currently a fix for the zoom issue.
To set up Opera as the default, go to:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSPIE
Change value 1 to OperaL.exe

Just Perfect bro!
Thanks a lot!
To bad we don't have and solution for zooming with the scrool. I have read somewhere here that one of udk's roms did that!
Cheers

I have just downloaded and installed opera mobile 9.5 build 1409.
It's all right but I realized that there are two problems not solved:
1. It is impossible to use a different type systems but the standard one (you have to use stylus).
2. opera mobile 9.5 is not syncronizable with Opera 9.51 for desktop.
Can anyone tell me something about?
Is it possible that the previous release run You Tube videos and this one doesn't?
Thanks & Bye.

Opera - Full Websites?

I'm posting this here as opposed to a general forum, because I've found that Opera performs differently on my Touch Pro as compared to my 6700 that was replaced.
On my 6700, when using Opera - I'd regularly get to the full websites I'd see on a desktop, and not mobile versions.
On my Sprint Touch Pro - I'm regularly being routed to mobile versions. For example, cbs sportsline, and ebay.
Is there a setting that I can change somewhere, perhaps in the registry - that would allow me to access full websites and not mobile versions?
I'm also having this problem. I've upgraded opera from what ever it was stock to 2392. I've also changed the custom user agent under user preferences on opera:config to Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 6.0; en).
This allowed me to view some pages in desktop mode but not all. The setting MOBILE VIEW in opera settings is unchecked, it doesn't matter if it is or not. I had the Touch before and i had opera mobile 9.5 beta 1 installed and it brought up desktop sites by default. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Isn't there an option for this in Schap's Advanced Config? Try downloading that and using it. I had always installed that first before using the browser so that may be why I never noticed the same issue as you.
I'm pretty sure AC3 useragent option points to PIE, not Opera.
By default Opera should be configured to load the full desktop page. It's possible Sprint has some proxy work going on behind the scenes. Do you get the same mobile versions when you load pages over wifi?
sorry guys,
I forgot to check back in here. But I found the solution on another forum. Check posts 4 and 9 here:

Opera's now working just as I'd hoped.

Try BBC.com, 'cause for me it still redirects to their mobile site. I'm using build 2745 btw. Odd thing is that i briefly tried 9.51b2 and that goes to bbc.com fine (no mobile site).

I think I might have cracked it on Build 2745. As well as the settings in Opera:config mentioned in the links in the posts above, you need to edit the opera.ini file. You should find a couple of lines looking something like this:
UAProf URL=http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/diamond-1.0.xml
UAProf URL Enabled=1
Change the second line to:
UAProf URL Enabled=0
Works for me
Only Mobile Sites
I'm also getting only mobile, specifically 2 I am checking are www.yahoo.com and www.cbs.sportsline.com and they are both constantly forwarded to mobile sites.
I've made changes in about:config, I made sure to hit save and also got a pop up confirming it.
I went into opera.ini and I see first line mentioned, but I don't see the 2nd anywhere that says UAProf Enabled = 1 to change to 0, just not seeing it there on mine.
Looks like I'm stuck, but I'd much rather see all normal websites, PIE I can use to get wap sites just fine, I'd like Opera to render real sites.
Can't claim to be an expert I'm afraid, so there's not too much more info I can offer.
There are four key things you should check:
1. Do you have build 2745? I was present in the ini file that seemed to come along with this build after full install - all bets are off for other builds
2. In Opera:Config check that you have set User Agent-Spoof UserAgent ID to 3 - I suspect lots of others will work but 3 worked for me. It is only spoofing the user agent type and I'm not sure how key it is to success. Be sure to save the change though
3. Make sure you set something suitable under User Preferences-Custom User Agent
4. Check the ini file for the lines mentioned or something similar. If it isn't there and you have the same build as I did, that would be worrying! As another thought, you could try adding the line - backup first of course
It's a real pain so I hope you get this sorted out soon
On 2392
Build 2392 came native on the Fuze that I just got. I put 2745 on my 8525/Hermes last week and it worked pretty well except for some issues with the keyboard not recognizing at first.
I've hard reset 6 times now trying to get something else working, which is more than likely a problem with our 2003 exchange, so I'll put on 2745 and see if it works correctly. I've made all the changes, not sure why this build won't work, but I'm not overly excited about the performance anyway.
herg62123 Opera 2745 build upgraded on Fuze
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442252&highlight=2745&page=12
Post 115 has the details for Opera upgrade to a current release, build 2745
herg62123 posted the 2745 build, and it's really awesome. I put it on my fuze with all the directions from post 115 that have it updated for VGA.
I can now go to the normal websites and not always get pushed to the mobile sites, which I did everything to fix, and none of the many great suggestions seemed to work. I think it was well worth doing, if I wanted to look at wap pages I'll use PIE.
I'm still looking for ways to change the link that the Globe opens on the Internet tab on TF3D on my Fuze. It goes to http://device.hom/ which is a dead link of some sorts. And no, changing the home page in settings and every other good suggestion doesn't change what that globe launches. The links under it are just favorites in Opera, all good. Not sure if others are annoyed by this.
I can't seem to find this opera.ini file. Which folder is it located at and how do I edit it? Do I need some other kind of software? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is the last step that I needed to get Opera to work like i wanted it too. Thank you very much. I did everything else, Custom user agent, upgrading opera to 2745, changing spoofing agent, this was the final piece to the puzzle. Now I just need to get flash to work and Opera will be wonderous!!
HAH! Flash working with Opera? Good luck with that one!
Glad it worked for you - it was driving me crazy until I found the solution. I've had the same issue with various different builds and each time the solution has been different!

Touch Pro - Replacing ROM Opera

I just got a Verizon Touch Pro and I'm trying replace my ROM Opera Mobile (9.5b2392) with the newest Opera Mobile from their website (9.51b2723).
I installed the new version on to the device memory.
It looks a lot nicer and seems faster.
I have the new version set to default (the old version doesn't have that option).
When I use a program that has links and opens the system default browser when clicked, upon initially opening a program (say profimail, but it's not only with that program), it opens up the old opera when I click a link. If I close the old opera, click the link again, it opens up the new opera. If I close the program, go back in and click a link, I get the old opera again.
Any ideas? I hoping there's someway to just totally disable the ROM Opera Mobile.
The ROM Opera is also in programs too, not sure if there's a way to remove it from there, but I guess I could live with that.
Delete new Opera.
Get new Opera's cab.
Install new Opera.
It should replace old Opera.
You need to try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401643
That's what I did.
I just uninstalled new opera from the device, then reinstalled onto the storage card and now it appears to be working as intended.
Should it have worked installed to the device? Looks like it was conflicting that way somehow.
Only problems left are that I can't get rid of the old icon in programs....and that it doesn't go landscape when I rotate the device, only when the keyboard is open. The old Opera did rotate along with the device.
Was the ROM Opera some special build from Verizon that used the accelerometer?
Also, the browser link in TouchFlo3D still opens the old Opera. Any way to change that?
Any ideas on how to get the new Opera to use the accelerometer? Is that possible?

I replied to your howardforums thread. I got it to work.
Basically you need to install two programs, they are listed here
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=11993391#post11993391
The Gyrator 2 to use the accelerometer
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407777
to replace the TF3D operal.exe with the new one.
After some work, I got both working.
That's great. Thanks!

Should I update Opera?

My brother just got an HTC Fuze with Opera 9.5 Build 2392. The Beta 2 release that came out a few weeks ago is Opera 9.51 Beta Build 2723. Should I update? Will it break anything?
I just read this:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7848.html
I haven't tried it yet. With the separate Youtube app on my Fuze, I probably wouldn't use it that much anyway.
2808 is out.
where do u update opera from? i'd like to upgrade to the newest version..

TP keyboard madness with this latest release..... Glad for PIE and Skyfire to hold me over while Opera is still failboat.
GOD yes.... IE 6.0 sucks...
opera is a beautiful browser, Skyfire shows some serious promise but I like the fluidity of opera.. I use this for my main desktop browser. hands down, opera is sweet!
tvos
opera mobile
who is using this beta on a touch pro?? anyone, and what are the effects good and bad if any.
Windows Mobile 5/6 Pocket PC, version 9.51b2
I have 9.5 1938 on my phone now and havent upgraded until i see some of you all with some feedback on the beta
I am using 2745 Flash Lite 3.1. It seems fairly stable, but a bit slow. I'm not certain that I'm really getting much benefit from Flash and suspect that it may slow things down. Sometimes pages seem to pause while loading. Screen rotation and keyboard work fine. Just the usual difficulty pressing/selecting a button (link) on a page.
There's no reason to use Opera Beta on the Fuze/Touch Pro. There are two incredibly annoying bugs that don't affect the OEM version: first it doesn't flow text properly and bunches it up into small columns and second it resets your SIP to the small WM keyboard no matter what. The OEM versions have none of these problems.
I like build 2808 over 2745 because the scrollbars (and dropdown lists) are now actually usable. The secret to upgrading the OEM version on a device with Opera on it already is that you only have to upgrade 2 files: Opera9.exe and OperaL.exe. Use MSCEInf (google it) to export these two files from any 2808 cab on this forum and copy the two files to your \Windows folder.

Opera beta2 on Topaz

Hey,
Did anyone here succeed to install and run the new Opera Mobile beta? I installed the beta, but can't run the program - nothing happens. I just click on the program and nothing opens, however the originally supplied Opera works just fine.
No... I couldn't get it on either. Whilst I appreciate that Opera opens so quickly, it sucks that they've integrated it into TF3D and haven't thought about upgrades...
well i did install it but i`m not 100% if it works,
I`ll tell you what happens:
after install i go into Start and press ADD program - u must scroll down a little and at the end (under the default simple Opera, there it is "Opera 9.5"
the browser opens just fine but to be honest i c no major diffrence (Java does not work either) so i`m thinking it is not rly the 9.5 beta2 that is working - maybe i`m still running the integrated 1

Open the main menu of the browser, and go to Help. Scroll down a bit, you should see the version there.

Yeah, version 9.5, build 16277.
Anyone wanna dig through registry and se? I guess the "browser" button points to a specific program directory..
Perhaps try and replace the opera 9.5 files with the beta2 one? I might when i get home.

Getting Opera 9.7 back without hardreset

Hello,
I installed Opera 10 Beta 1, which totally sucks for me. I cannot browse a site, because it just freezes.
Do anyone know how to get the old original back, without hard-reseting? I think it was 9.7 or something, but I cannot find it, on Opera's site.
Thanks.
On my device Opera 10 install itself into a new folder and I could use Opera 9 and 10 simultaneously. Uninstall Opera10 via Start>Settings>Remove Application should revert your device to the "original " state. If IE is now your default browser you can set it back to Opera 9 with this cab.
That's right:
Uninstall Opera 10, the old one is still on your device... (In my case, dutch original: rom 9.5)
It might not be your default browser anymore (as I experienced) but you can still find it in your programs list...
I have the solution
I've done some digging and found a solution!
Why would you want to change back to 9.7? Because the browser works better than Opera 10, as 10 is just a Beta..
1. Uninstall Opera 10 Beta from Start / Setting / System / Remove Programs
2. Download Opera 9.7 from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R148IQ5V
3. Enable Zoombar

That worked fine for me. G-sensor is working, "Launch Browser" works, and URL's from Twitter tab is working
Thanks
It's was really helpful!
