Mobile Adult Content (no not real content just concept) - General Topics

Well it looks like this is being resurrected, in a month or so I am going to be given the option to pitch this idea after I do the proper market research. So if anyone is in the biz or has some numbers they could throw out me please do. I won't really be hitting the books (so to speak) until we finish a special project we are currently working to launch. If your interested in the pr0n watch this thread!

what does this have to do with xda-devs general discussion...smells like spam...but you have 111 posts,so...not sure

Should it go in Development? It isn't developed yet, and I can assure you it is not spam. I work for one of the largest providers of online Adult content in the world.
I had posted something similar about creating a Win Mo program for streaming content before but now that I actually have a definitive answer on going to pitch it I was just getting my ducks in a row.
I just put it in General since I wasn't sure where else it would go, especially since I am kind of looking for market research resources.

well i assume it will have to be payed...and we don't sell anything around here,i think...so i'd suggest moving to off-topic at the moment

Possibly pay, possibly not. Either way if some help they could be beta testers which would be free (I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS DEFINITE SO DON'T SEND ME PM's YOU PERVS). Also just for the record I have never advertised the company I work for.

well i wasn't going to ask for it...think you are a perv.
just wanted to see where would this lead
but for this kind of mobile usage....thanks not
there are better things to watch on the ppc
i mean to work for a company like that, man you could have found a better job
this is just my opinion,so no hard feelings

Your opinion. I love my job, for the record I do not do any programming what so ever just building tutorials and flow charts.

i think the market/demmand is probably theire...not sure tho it's hard to say i mean when would you really have time to watch that on a mobile...it's not something you can just watch while riding the bus or plane...and if your at home just go on pc plenty of it out theire...interesting idea non the lest tho...good luck....

Yea the one thing I could see a major advantage of is having a TV out on your phone and using that to watch it. You then could by pass the nagging wife, girlfriend, boyfriend who snoops around your PC trying to catch you.

Streaming Adult Content

I work for one of the largest Video On Demand porn sites in the world. My question is do you guys and gals think there would be interest in a program in the vain of V-Tap for adult content? I know that you can stream from our sites directly with WM phones, but it seems to take a hell of a lot of data and memory usage, especially with Opera Mobile. So give it to me straight pervs would this be worth trying to pitch to the bosses about?
Ha! 45 people have read this and no one has had the guts to say something.
I say go for it! No shame in my game, brotha'.
I say go for it man!
Good idea mate! Just go for it
Do people pay for this service to get it into a v-tap type of software?
I'll be your first beta tester!

pron is great. Greater still on the go!
(yes - p r o n)
go for it dude... theres more women that will be watchin... lol
Just so no one gets their hopes up, this is a really big IF. These are just ideas that are swimming around in my head.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. I was just thinking, "damn did I just get black listed?". I guess I'm just trying to do a little bit of market research. My company also runs Pornotube which I think could easily be adapted for mobile devices a la some Vtap like software for the phone. I'm getting documentation together right now about it, the only problem is I really know jack about programming especially on a mobile device.

No people do not pay for this software. If we decided to do it on our adult version of Youtube I also do not think there would be a charge, but because it is adult content, for safety (don't want the kiddies on it) reasons it might be smarter to have a small monthly fee (5$) something like that.

This could be possible, if the execs went for it we would probably need Beta testers. Of course there is the problem of ensuring the Beta testers are of age, but more then likely I would turn to this site for beta testing. So just keep your fingers crossed.
bring it on !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over 300 views and only 7 people have an opinion? Come on people, at least PM me.
well i think people were looking because they thought that it was a post about a serivce.. if you had that many hits im sure youd have alot of support if the program went into development.. **** be the first to have a niche in the mobile market im sure youd be stabing yourself in the foot later if you dont... look how many things are becoming mobile.. mobile banking, youtube , music everything i say do it
I do believe its a good idea, but only if its 100% free... I don't see many ppl paying even 1$ as a monthly fee.
Unfortunately there is just no way it would be free. Trust me who doesn't want free porn? But the company I work for is in the business to make money first and then please people second. It just doesn't work that way to give free porn. Hell even sites that do give away content for free pester you with so many banner ads it's almost not even worth it. I think Pornotube would be about the only thing that could be free on the company's end.

You could always put small (like 10 sec or so) ad before each video plays, to get advertising revenue. That way it would stay free on the user end.
Honestly.. where would the internet be without P&P (pron and pirates)???
Contact me directly, if your interested, i have an idea to sell you that might just take mobile pron to the next generation with an app that is already well under development for other uses...
i have several ways of streaming adult contact to my device.. orb is one but the others are a little more complicated. Go's like this. access the site (usually wmv streaming sites) copy link location, open media player or tcpmp and open file or location and paste that link and click open and 70% of the time it works.

WinMoDevelopers.co.cc
Forums for NON HTC Devices
The idea of a WinMo Forum place for non HTC devices is great. But for the life of me I would never ever be able to remember that URL.... It's really, sorry to say, terrible for branding, terrible for memory, and by the very use of .cc it looks amateurish. And the only reason why I point this out -- to be helpful actually -- is that I just did a quick domain search and all 3 of these are available -- as dotcoms -- the universal easy-to-remember address -- since you more or less drop the .com and only have to remember the first part.
To reach the same audience you wish to reach more of, I believe you'd do much better with one of these.... and that was just my first-pass thinking in 2 minutes... please don't take offense. Branding is important... it's also not something everyone is naturally good at. best regards, /qs
WinMoDevices.com

the idea was to have a simialr forum for nonhtc devices
the issue is my forum is a new forum
it has yet to recieve any finacial donations and it uses a forumer.com forum so i cant pick up the software like vbulletin and input it inot a server or whatnot just yet
also since there is no money being donated and im not making any due to unemployment then im having trouble finding the money to buy a domain
so until i get a job or i get any donations then itll have to be a free domain till then
also it cant all be that bad, a goolge search for winmodevelopers brings up every ite i have.
btw
i find it hard to take offence here after the first few flames i got when i started
I gotcha.. i didn't know it was a free domain. I also understand well re economic times, amigo, and I wish you well. I totally see the value of this additional WM niche not served nearly as well at HTC owners. I want to talk to you about that. And secondly I would like to buy a domain for you-- it's 10$ /year... and I can offer you hosting, perhaps w vB. I do have it installed. You may have zero time right now, and perhaps zero motivation/interest at moment due to much higher prioroties, but I think there are opportunities there and for you to play a bridge role between sites would be great. When you are READY to chat please send me an email. (see my profile). Thanks, and glad you weren't offended. It hadn't occurred to me that the name was formatted that way due to beung free.
best regards/ quicksite.

Android App Idea Lawn Irrigation

Hey guys;
Not sure if this is the forum to submit ideas, but I wasn't sure where to go exactly. I've never wanted an android app developed until now.
So I'm looking into getting this controller for my sprinklers so I can control them from the web or my phone. I figured if I was on vacation for example and forgot to set my sprinklers from the controller in my garage, I could do it over my phone or any web browser if I buy this controller from this site.
http://www.quicksmart.com/qs_etherrain.html
On that page they say "Open API for Software Developers" so I'm wondering if someone is willing to take on developing an app for this? Do you see a good market for something like this? I will gladly donate!
Thanks in advance for any comments, etc
Hehe, that's an unusual request. However, I imagine that there isn't much of a market for this kind of app. Unless there's some kind of standard interface for internet-enabled sprinklers (even the concept makes me laugh ), the app would have to specifically support each brand. That would mean that the number of people interested in each app would be very low, or the dev would have to spend a lot of time working through all the brands to ensure compatibility.
I didn't read through their site in detail, but I take it that there's no configuration webpage that you could access? That would clearly be the easiest and cheapest (free!) solution. If someone had to write the app for you, it would probably end up costing quite a bit if they charged even just minimum wage for their time. That said, if the app is so important to you that you're willing to pay ~$100 for it, I'd look more closely at what writing this would really require. (You can see my previous work in the Android Market - Spectrum Puzzles.)
Well I dont think theres many brands... Rainbird is the most common out there. I was debating on this unit too:
http://www.irrigationcaddy.com/
I like it better, and I wonder if someone could just make an app that is based off this units browser interface. Prob not tho. It's a funny request cuz its not techy at all, but kinda amazing if u think about it to control ur sprinklers from ur phone. To me, yes its worth 100 or more
lol that could be jokes , send someone to get something in your garden get out your phone open the app and get them wet!!! lool
Lawn sprinkler app
I'd just like an app to turn and off a valve connected to my outdoor hose bib / faucet. I just planted some grass and need to water it 2 or 3 times per day. If I had a controllable valve I could set the times and durations from anywhere with my phone. Seems like something many people would pay for???
Necro thread!!
It's in the wrong section anyway - should be in Android General.
Thread moved.

The First XDA Phone

Hello anyone reading this message.
My name is gregory. I am like most of you pretty pissed about the behavior of canonical (at least if you followed the ubuntu edge fund campaign http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge). What a lame way to make advertising. Of course, anyone with a bit of sense would smell the scam here, 32,000,000$ in a month? come on man!!! So here I am. I've been a flasholic for years and I think I came up with the idea of making my own cell phone about 3 years ago. fear, shyness and lack of funds made me drop the idea several time. But today we have the possibility to change the cell phone world together, thanx to canonical's lame way to advertise their OS. Basically here is my idea, Why not fund our own XDA phone? After all, many of us having problem or getting fed up with the slow updates of our phones are coming here to get things done. Most of us don't wait anymore for those big brands to update our devices. So why in the world are we waiting for them to build them. I've been around XDA for quite some times now and all I see here is a great mix of DEV. So correct me if i'm wrong. The dev on XDA are for most way faster and more reliable than the one at samsung, htc etc. the parts for the phones are all made in china for the most part, we all know some designers and the ubuntu edge crowfunding made it to 12,000,000 +. So here is my question to you people on XDA. Why don't we make our own phone the same way. Even 10,000,000 would be largely enough to make simply the best phone in the world. we could make a poll about each part and design in the phone, and i'm pretty sure the dev here would agree to make the device better. Not only because they will be pay for it, but because they love it. I am no business man, neither a develloper. I don't know code or anything in that matter. Now let me tell you my vision (and no i didn't take LSD for it)
imagines a phone with the latest specs like the edge. 128gb drive storage, 4gb ram, sapphire glass etc etc, it would be nice, but now imagine the same device with the XDA community back up, updates and corrections every 1 or 2 months, pushed straight to your phone without need of external program (kies, itunes or else... why is it call mobile phone if you need to have a computer to update it?), a minimum of 3 years updates, and of course, the ability to solve your problem here without having to talk with lame company commercials who would send your phone to korea just because they don't know anything about the product they sell. won't it be a dream? - more ideas are very welcome and that's why WE should do our own phone.
As I said, i'm not into the cell phone business, although I know some things about business in china, i'm no designer or dev, but i'm sure we could put up a pretty team from people here and make it happen. And when it's done, start a crowfunding. I know it would work because the name XDA alone stand for quality and improvement in our mobile world today. I have in mind that anyone willing to do that would succeed and I can't protect this kind of idea since i'm not the one who invent cell phone. but I also think the great thing with the xda community is that there is no lame boss or greedy stock sharers to decide what people should do or not. I'm hard working and if people think we should make it then i'm willing to work my ass, even travel (i'm from Paris, france not texas ) overseas to make this happen. here is the team i think we should put together to see this device built:
- people who knows the chinese technology market (where to buy and select company)
- DEV who knows about Android devellopment (maybe ubuntu or any other)
- designers ( let's try to make something more beautiful than the iphone )
- lawyers (I guess)
- commercials
any other ideas are welcome.
I opened this thread just to see your reactions on the subjects. it a little messy because i have so many things in my mind but feel free to argue, critisized, encourage, or just explain to us anything that comes in your mind. cheers

Do you consider VirtualReality as the next bit thing in mobile?

VR seems to be booming. The buzz is all over the place and new products/content are bumping weekly or bi-weekly.
Did you try it already with your phone via Google Cardboard or GearVR? Do you consider it as the next big thing in mobile?
There's definitively a lack of content for GearVR while the quality of VR experience there is astonishing
I am in two minds about VR being the next big thing in general, not just in terms of mobile.
I have a Google Cardboard, and yet, I barely use it. I mean, when I first got it I was all "THIS IS AWESOME!", but now, really, it's best use is showing people the tech. As an actual device for me to use? There isn't anything there.
One problem I can see with VR is that it seems to have come at the wrong time for a lot of people. With mobile phones, we've been trained to always be doing something else, no matter what activity we are doing. For example, when I am watching Netflix, my phone is right by me, on messenger or on WhatsApp, talking to people.
Honestly I did not heard about it. Just visited the link you have provided. Still confusing. Can you provide me any link of video?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4zr5Eq_F5g
but i really suggest you to try it in real at any big IT or gaming expo. it's one of its kind experience
Oh my, I didn't even know about the Aperture Robot Repair demo. That's amazing!
EDIT: Oh, in my excitement over new Portal Media, forgot to say this:
Meetup.com is normally a good place to go to to have a look for places to try out the rift and other VR systems.
