Problem Radio with my Polaris. - Touch Cruise General

Hello,
My configuration :
- ROM : 1.25.406.1 FRE (12/12/07)
- RADIO : 1.58.21.23
- PROTOCOL : 25.65.30.04H
Here as the facts :
- I can't call anymore (or less than 1 for 10 calls).
- I can't connect to internet no more.
- about the GPS, it seems to be very bad too (I can't say if I can connect).
- the battery last less than a short night (yesterday at 10pm = 100%, right now 9am = 24% with no calls, nothing...).
The history :
- I unlocked the Polaris with the soft provided, hard-spl, 1.70.Olinex, ...
- I usually try many ROMs, I was using the BEPE 0.67 and no worry at all.
- I like to try new ROMs because it changes the Polaris a little and it is like having a new phone each time. But I always get back to BEPE 0.67.
- I never flashed the radio "by myself", but perhaps if it was included in the ROM.
- Since my problem I tried almost all the radios rom and I tried many roms too. I stopped at the original HTC ROM to see if the problem was solved... no luck.
With the last thing I did (can't remember what exactly), I had a problem with the battery drain. I read a lot here so I changed the radio to improve that. Result is what I described above.
The real problem is that I can't do anything to solve my problem : no radio, no rom, nothing....
If you can help me with something, thank you very much.

Yes, there is a solution for your problem.
Try to flash Murata Radio.
It will most likely solve your problem.
Olioaglio

I think I tried... I saw the thread about that one.
But I will again and let you know.

Ok I tried the Murata radio.
Just after it worked. But because I was in official HTC, I switched again to BEPE 0.67. Not working anymore... Is there a radio in the BEPE rom?
I am installing Murata again, after the Rom 0.67. Will see.

The response is : it is again not working.
I am sure that I read that you can mix whatever Rom and radio, so why this isn't working?

Again, after trying the Murata as the last action : no luck, not working...

What I did :
- BEPE 0.67 => not working
- Murata => not working
- BEPE 0.65 => not working
- Murata => not very good... and when it crashes, it crashes the calls with a metallic sound very bad. Actually it worked for the first attempts and it doesn't work now...
I don't understand, it differs from time to time...
I hope this is not an hardware problem because I would not understand from when....

Ok, I tested it and it looks like this works, not fine, but it works a little (can't connect in 3G).
I can call (sometimes, it is very long to have a call) and the gps is ok.
But if someone could help... to be at 100%

Ok, because this morning my Polaris was down, totally drain out.
I'm still looking for a solution.
I will try the solution from amzchhabra (in the topic Bad 3G/UMTS....), the O2 ROM (in deutsch). Hope the deutsch will be updatable after....
I will let you know if that works.
If the meanwhile someone think to anything....

3g-H
In 3g-H you can't call an can't make internet connections... I know about what you are speaking. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391741

Ok, I tried the O2 deutsch solution with the radio 1.58.21.24.
After this I put the 0.67 again.
It worked for the afternoon, no battery drain, everything working, sms, calls, data connections, and suddenly nothing again...
This morning, no more battery and can't do anything....
allanon, I read the topic you talked about, but I can't really understand what to do :
- do I need to use the SAV?
- is it a software I use where is the problem?
Thank you for your help anyway.

I think...
send it back to assistance! I don't know if they change something of hardware, but I think some polaris have different kind of chips inside that could be guilty of malfunctions related to Radio or soft... Ciao

Ok, bad...
Can you help me for some little thing :
- I put the original ROM (SFR, France)
- I need to put the original radio (I'm still looking for it)
- I need to change the splash screen to the original one (I know how to change it)
- do I need to sim lock it?
- I found how to remove the hard-spl (for the end)
Did I forget something?

VoIP an wizard speakerproblem

In many threads ther is mentioned that some wizard users have problem to get VoIP running through teh phone speaker. So they have it through stereospeaker and the partner will get bad echos while speaking. So I started this thread to probably solve the problem.
1. there was an idee that it is an rom problem that maybe been solved by flashing original orwell --> I did and it didn´t work either.
2. somebody think it might be an hardware problem, that "old" wizard built before week 6 2006 do not support voip through internal speaker. --> this might be, because it fits to the posting in an other thread
3. it might be an registry thing:
But who can find these settings???
Or is it an dll problem?
Everyone who wants to answer should please psot the "wizard-age" the rom and what ever might be usefull to solve the problem for everyone.
Thanks
Hi
It's good to see that you haven't given up on solving this problem, sorry but I haven't come any closer to an answer.
Just for the record: To see when your Wizard was made, check the serial number.
Mine says S/N xx604xxxxxxx, the first number shows the year, the two next the week.
mine is from wekk 44 year 2005 - and I also didn´t came further
My wizard is week 9 2006 and I still have the speakerphone problem. I have tried both mUn and MB ROMs.

Oh one piece in the puzzle that it might be an registry or dll problemn and not a hardwareproblem.
Thanks
Just wanted to mention I've tried Radio ROM 2.19, 2.25, 2.47 and 2.69 - it didn't solve the problem.
One question to you, papamopps, does the Xplore 1.1 ROM have elatepushservice.exe (java for running WiFi in standby mode), so that you have have the WiFi task bar icon (with BatteryStatus Today-Plugin)?

The elatepushservice.exe is in windowsfolder. But I don´t know if it is running the way you want. But just pm anichillus - he will know it.
No body can help us?
Faria mentioned this:
There is a possibility but then we will loose bluetooth function.
Please - nobody knows an answer?
I am also having the problem. My serial shows week 12 of 06.
Mine is 06 42nd Week and I don't seem to have a problem.
Anyone come up with anything on this issue. I'd hate to see this thread die.
No nothing. Faria mentined that there would be a soulution but we would loose bluetooht support. Don´t know what that means but he never answerd again.
Sorry.
Hmmm...
Loosing bluetooth for voip wouldnt be a huge issue since most of us will be connected via WiFi, and wifi is a rare thing when you are driving (main reason for headset).

But when you are loosing complete support for bluetooth?
Don´t know how it would be working. Will ask Faria again.
That would kind of suck to loose Bluetooth all together. Not only do I use a headset from time to time, but I also use a bluetooth gps receiver so then I would be out 2 devices.
Hi, i also have a wizard model and the sound keeps going through the stereospeaker... I would apreciate some help...
Wizard Model
WM6 Faria Kitchen
IPL/SPL 3.08
Radio 02.40.11
OS 5.2.318
There is still no solution?
This, to me, is a major show stopper for using voip on my phone
No one can help us? I got the problem, too...
Arrrrhhh
I posted on the VOIP forum when it started. Seems an age back now - and yes I have the same problem. Seems absurd that the s/w cant control where the sound goes.... but there you go.
I have tried some of these registration hacks, but no success Maybe you have more luck? http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa921918.aspx

Lost SMS. WM6 issue? ..any idea?

first of all: sorry for my poor english!
unfortunately I keep on losing some SMSs.
I have changed different ROM (from the NBD 4... up to the 8.2 that currently I have in use, XDA6 in all the releases...) but the problem persists.
sometimes... not frequently (unfortunately always from a person for me very important) I lose the SMSs: the telephone "revives", illuminates the display green and red buttons... but nothing.... SMS=0
(I have called the person that I imagined had written me and has confirmed me)
I have tried the whole radios: 2.69 (good audio...), 2.61...very fast but bad receipt, 2.47 (I thought the best), 2.37 (original of mine k-jam Italian), 2.25 of T-mob and finally the 2.19.. from all declared the best... but with a bad audio according to me.
Any idea?
with a downgrade to WM5 the problems seem to disappear....
Please, help.... i love WM6....
i think its not bcuz of wm6 !
you RESET your phone without any reason ! if you RESET your phone , all incoming data will be lost !
so try shutting down your phone by pressing and holding the power botton and this problem probably will be gone
Tau,
This is a confirmed problem with WM6, if you search around you'll find the T-Mobile Radio ROM and CIngular Radio ROM threads where people outline some of the issues they've been having and the fixes they've tried and gotten to either work or fail. I'd just reccomend either switching back to AKU 3.3 or just keep trying different radios.
That's a radio issue, the only ones that seem to work consistently is Farias version of 2.69 or 2.19. The non faria version of 2.69 still seems to have that problem, at least for me it did.
thanks...i'll try faria's one

No problem. The easiest way to figure out if a radio is going to work for you is to hook your phone up to activesync and then call yourself or text yourself while it's connected. If the the send and end lights come on but you don't recieve the call or sms it's time to flash a different radio rom. Call yourself or text yourself a few times to make sure because you may just get lucky and it recieves the call or sms the first time or 2.

temporarily unavailable despite max signal strength?!, but can make outgoing calls

Am I the only one in the world with this problem:
Sometimes nobody can call me - they get the "temporarily unavailble" message. And I don`t even get to notice not being reachable . But I can always make outgoing calls, any time. This problem does not have anything to do with radio signal strength, I tested that!
Now I tested the SIM in another phone, and it seems I`m not having that problem. So it must have something to do with the S710.
But it`s not even logical, or ist it?!
And I can`t even rely on soft-resets: sometimes this f***ing problem is still existent after a soft-reset.
How can I be unreachable while I could make a call at the same time????
This drives me mad! I cannot use the S710 anymore as long as this is not fixed.
Any suggestions?
I'm sure you've checked this, but you don't have any diverts setup do you?
uummm,...
I am not sure what you mean, to be honest.
but the Phone is not "tuned" in any way.
I have no additional programs installed or overclocked the phone. and for 3 months in usage before, I did not have this malfunction (asaik).
Let me state, that I always have bluetooth turned off.
Could you look up what radio and ROM version you have?! Where did you buy it and what language is it?
"CE-ROM update versionen":
Operator: 5.2.1235.17740
"Funkempfängerversion (= Radio Version):
4.1.13.37_02.83.90
Provider Orange
Language German
ROM-Version 1.16.407.1
Radio-version 4.1.13.37_02.83.90
I saw your Post on MoDaCo, did this help you? Otherwise you might wanna flash a new ROM?!
you might want to do a hard reset b4 reflashing!
I still am collecting advices. So far I haven`t taken any steps to solve the problem despite asking in different portals.
So you think, I should prefer flashing a new ROM instead of or before installing that Bluetooth Hotfix by HTC?
Is there a ROM version that is known to be "the best" or "the worst"?
No no try the hotfix first! Way less work to do! And safer anyways! I fyou're satisfied with your ROM then there is no need to flash!

[SOLVED] GPS Dead - Can't figure out why

SOLVED - I ended up flashing to the 1.64.08.21 Radio, then Dutty's Latest. Now GPS works. WEIRD!!!!
Hello,
Back story: I'm running Q-Mobile 1.2, all is well, GPS works fine because I used it all the time. Then I had family in town, took some photos using the GPS photo option, didn't work. I filled it away under the curious and just got around to testing.
GPS Test now can't find my device, keeps reading "Searching for GPS Device", HTC GPS Testing tool just stares blankly at me like I have the answers.
Live search GPS doesn't work.
Google Maps GPS doesn't work.
What I've done to try and fix:
I reflashed the 1.27.14.09 radio... didn't change anything.
I reflashed the entire Q-Mobile Rom... didn't change anything.
I tried Dutty's new WM 6.1 Rom... didn't change anything.
I tried Alex's ROM... didn't change anything.
Tried the "new" AT&T Rom from the HTC site... didn't change anything.
I'm back to Q-Mobile, still doesn't work.
There is no reason why the GPS should not be working, the phone hasn't been physically damaged in anyway, everything else works fine.
I'm at my wits end, I need some outside help/guidance. Can ANYONE please help? Everything I've searched for and come up with so far hasn't worked.
As always, any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
thats funny, because my GPS has been randomly working and not working these past few days....2 days ago it wouldnt pick up a signal at all, yesterday very strong signals, today, dead again......not sure whats wrong...
This is strange.... because a friend just lost his GPS also. He's using a 6.0 based ROM with various radios tested.
He's using a Tilt varient.
Could this be some sort of AT&T issue?
(I run the same ROM as him -I flashed it myself- and am also on AT&T with no problems.... yet)
GPS seems to be location dependent.
But here's my thought : if you want to use WM 6.0 then flash to Radio 1.27.
For WM 6.1 then flash to Radio 1.58.
Don't forget to change the Quick GPS Region in registry & then run it.
Hope that can help.

my region is set to US in the registry.....not sure that its the problem, because it worked perfectly fine w/ these settings before...
Yeah, my GPS as well. At first i worked perfectly. I used Google map and locate me, I show the exact position where I was. Then yesterday and today, my point have been moved further where I'm. And then I tried TOMTOM, and the performance is kinda slowe than before.
I'm using Radio 1.64.08.21, and UDK-7 R2
okay so i just went out to test it again, and ran GPS tool at 4800. I let it go for 2-3 minutes and eventually, it found a fix on about 12 satallites. after that, tom tom locked my location really fast, like a charm.....
give that a try.....if you just flashed, initial gps fix might take some time...
Alright, I'm going to try Dutty's latest again, only this time w/ the 1.64.08.21 radio... I'll see if that matters. I'll post when done.
UPDATE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365058
I installed the ROM on this thread as a test. ROM sucks bizzalls, but GPS Test if finally working! I'm going to flash Dutty's latest overtop, it should keep the radio but put his ROM down. More to follow.

Please post the registry string that changes the demobraphics to the US. Thanks.
Do we have a listing of these location codes as the US is a big place and it might have more than 1 code depending on location.
Can people post what they have in the registry of:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\QuickGPS]
The value of :
"region"="--"
I tried GB in mine (United kingdom) as another user (Dutch had reported using NL in theirs and GB is our equivalent. It definately seemed to lock faster.
I am using Dutty's latest rom and the region was Blank in after the flash, hard reset and setup.
Does the quick gps download different data depending on region or does it download all of them but start the search based on which should be the closest satellites based on the location setting in the registry. I presume once it has gained its locks it remembers for next time. (I think this remembered data is valid for 4 hours).
There are only about 28 satellites in total and up to a maximum of eight to eleven depending on time a(s the satellites are not geostationary) being visible at one time

Chapelhill
I used Dutty's WM6.1, ran QuickGPS then got a fix (took very long the first time) ... now my registry says Region=US
I noticed that there is another key that might be of interest:
curRegion = 0 (00000000)
Could this be current Region?
I've changed the region in the registry from "--" to "SE" (Sweden), but the string won't stay put. After a reboot and running QuickGPS, it goes back to "--". I've tried waiting a couple of hours after editing and holding the power button to shut down, but it doesn't help. I made a little MortScript and added it to startup:
Code:
While (1)
WaitFor ("QuickGPS", -1)
If NOT regKeyEqualsString ("HKLM", "Software\HTC\QuickGPS\", "region", "SE")
RegWriteString ("HKLM", "Software\HTC\QuickGPS\", "region", "SE")
EndIf
Sleep (10000)
EndWhile
This works and keeps the "SE"-setting, but having the script running constantly isn't exactly optimal as it uses processing power (around 4% currently) and thus adding to battery-drain. Anyone have any ideas on a different way of making the script, which is more effective/power-saving? Or is there an even better way to make the registry key stick?
I am having some GPS issues as well but not as bad as GPS not working. Two problems have been bugging me: Getting a slow GPS fix and my location seems offset. I am using CoPilot Live 7 for my navigation software. It shows me a little bit 'off' from my current location. I am using 1.58.26.20 radio. Should I change my radio? Do I have to change the radio first and then reflash Dutty again?

My Polaris get locked

Hi folks,
When my polaris is standby after a few minutes he is locked. The only way to unlock is to remove the battery.
Despite that It goes twice to HTC support but return without solution.
Any idea ? any upgrade ?
Currently, I am :
ROM : 3.13.406.0 FRE (the latest)
Radio : 1.59.42.15
WM 6.1 (5.2.19965 - build 19965.1.2.3)
Your help is more then welcome.
I tried with another ROM but problem still there.
I tried with Radio 1.58.32.33, problem still there (less frequent)
Downgrade to 1.58.21.23, problem still there (high frequent)
Any help welcome...
May should I find the right combination (ROM + Radio) for my hardware
I upgraded
you'd better describe the problem detailedly, espacially post a screenshots, so that we make out what's wrong with your phone.
Sorry but :
no screenshop, it just down.
no description as it happens a different moment as of the battery reaches 80%.
It happens for people having a FRE radio (BE / FR)
But I have installed a new radio (1.65...) and my problem look fixed. I just wait 24h more to close this post.
