That's what I plan on doing as well. Waiting for the charging dock....

Got my spare yesterday, along with this dock from Hong Kong. The dock isn't the most glamorous but it works, and came with a 1500mAh AC adapter. Having a spare battery let me really see how long this thing could go... had it off the charger at 9AM, about two hours of internet browsing, one ~20 minute phone call with mixed reception (E/3G, sometimes 0 bars), and a little better than 6 hours of music playback. At 9PM I swapped the battery, it still had 13% remaining... My G1 would have crapped out a long time before that.

i'm assuming these are the standard batteries, not extended life versions?

Yes, the same as what is shipped with the phone, though for only $25, it sure beats the 1600mAh that Sedio offers at $55 +shipping...

It cheap and works like the original one. Before nexus one I used similar for my G1. And worked beautifully. And free shipping!

Can anyone recommend a decent external charger for the Desire HD battery? Thinking of getting a spare battery but want a way of charging outside the phone.

Yeah, you can usually find these things on eBay for pennies. Maybe in a week or two...

I have one of these that I occasionally use for my G1. It isnt amazing and charges very slowly, but with a high quality battery it should help a little on the go!

i found this one
ebay Item number: 120640014972 (new users aka me cannot post external links )
which is a battery powered portable charger rated at 5000maH and charges the battery in the phone.
that battery cover worries me so i dont want to have to open it too often. also it means you dont have to wait for the device to reboot. not sure how accurate that 5000mah is, but i should be able to fit that and my phone in my pocket for a couple of hours to charge.
not ideal, but i dont trust non-brand batteries, especially if im importing them from china since i have no legal comeback if it explodes in my phone because they are not a UK company.

Mobilefun do one for around £20 that docks the phone and has a slot for a spare battery to charge aswell. Not in stock last I looked, but ill be buying one of those.

Kind of sucks that it doesn't come with the needed HDMI cable though. At least the one I saw at the VZW store today didn't have it.

if you get it through customer service or in store ask for the one WITH the battery, its $10 more and it comes with an extra OEM battery you can charge in the dock without needing the battery in the phone.

No its a corporate store, just not well informed. I will maybe stop in again today and see if they have the media dock.

I like the deal that I got the battery with mine, and it's kinda slick, but was VERY disappointed that there isn't a video out that goes with the dock. Why didn't they put the HDMI port on the same side so that you could have HDMI out while on the cradle?

I love mine as a bed side dock but this should not be considered a media dock...
The extra battery is what made it to good deal for sure.

The dock is nice and the extra battery is always a plus. I do like that the have a line out port on the back of the dock, but it would have been infinitely better if the dock had an HDMI out feature.

I got one when I picked up my phone yesterday. I LOVE IT!

so in about a week or so i'll post the review and actual pictures
i figured since the 3 people who ordered their other Qi charger were satisfied that i would give this one a shot...it's a decent price and i like the looks...and it has a buzzer as well as an LED to let you know when it's done charging

Let us know how this one pans out.
I bought one of the DT-900's (on sale).. it worked great for 2 days.. and I haven't been able to get it to work since with my N4 (still works fine with my N7).

Only thing that really interests me on this one is the 1A charge, seems like that would definitely be on the high end for Qi chargers.

All of those pictures are CGI. I would wait for real photographs.

I´ve just got it. Looks nice and works well, BUT it plays a moderately loud sound when you put your nexus to charge. This is very annoying because i use it when i go to sleep and awakes my wife.
Obviously i am not going to risk my marriage for an iq charger Anyone knows how to disable the sound? I´ve opened it, but i´ve found no buzzer in the circuit. I don´t mind breaking the buzzer if needed.

Regrettably that it really isn't. I never had a problem with batteries marked OEM. But I guess the good news the seller refunded me the money and said to keep it our toss it out. There are still a few who believe in truth in advertising. I have reported the seller to eBay. But I doubt anything comes from that. If they don't say OEM, I know I am taking a chance to save a few bucks.

I have buying them for years, never a problem. I normally notice the little details, like the waves missing in the battery. (The NFC antenna) but failed this time. But at least I got my money back. If I wanted cheap Chinese batteries, I would have bought the ones for five bucks.
