Hi,
I don't believe this issue is ROM related, but if it should be, forgive me for starting a fresh thread...
I'm running Dr. Gonzo's 6.1 ROM, pretty much vanilla. Installing the latest Opera Mini works fine, but I don't get any font smoothing, like I'm used to from my Kaiser. Is this related to the Smartphone platform or is there another issue on my device?
I've tried different JBed versions already, up to 20080222 - no difference.
Ideas?
-Alex

Ok I have done quite a bit of trial and testing before posting this and feel now is the time.
I have installed and tested a good number or custom WM6 roms. See list below:
NBD 7.9
NBD 8.0
NBD 8.1
NBD 8.2
NBD 8.3
NBD 9.0
NBD 9.1
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 3.2
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 4.5
TNT 4.0 Professional
Black Diamond 2.0 Touch
faria-htc wizard...WWE WM6 ROM- [the real thing]
Windows Mobile 6 - Titanium 2 (WM6Ti)
I love flashing new WM6 roms and testing them out but I also rely heavily on 3rd party software that I have to install after the flashing is complete. For every one of these roms mentioned above, I have experienced performance issues(slows down to a crawl) when installing larger amounts of 3rd party software not included in rom.
On thie flip side, when I install T-Mobile's official WM5 rom and then install large amounts of 3rd party software, the performance of the phone isn't affected in the least.
What I would like to see, is a custom WM6 rom with the performance of WM5 after installing large amounts of software. I believe the only way to do this is to change the page pool to 12mb because other than software installed, the pagepool is pretty much the only difference between these WM6 roms and and official WM5 rom I downloaded from T-Mobile.
Here is what I install on every rom I use:
Wisbar Advance 2
Palm Threaded SMS (WM5 or WM6 depending on what rom I am using)
Inesoft Address Book
Resco Explorer
Resco Registry Add-in
Resco Keyboard pro
Batterystatus
Weatherpanel
Chronos
Coreplayer
For WM5 roms I also install:
Touch WMP skin
HTC audio manager
Touch syle dialpad skin
10 button comm manager
When I am running T-Mobile WM5 then installing all of these programs does not impede the performance of the phone whatsoever but every WM6 rom I have tried to date has slowed down to a crawl when installing this software. I dont understand why... It just does.
Right now I dont even have all of my software installed. This is all the software I have installed, not already included in rom:
Wisbar Advance 2
Inesoft Address Book
WM6 Palm Threaded SMS
Thats it and it is running so slow I can't stand it...
of course will find WM 5.0 more stable than WM 6.0 if you install all of these 3rd party apps, WM 5.0 compatibles with all the Apps listed, not like WM 6.0.
- What you have to do??
- find the app effecting on WM6.0 and replace it with newer version (if available).

That sounds like a good idea but when it comes down to it, most of the software I use isn't really available for WM6 yet. For example: Wisbar Advance 2 and Inesoft Address Book.

i didn't read correctly, are you using Inesoft Address Book!! it is the most effector on the system (at least WM 6.0).
we are looking for many of 3rd party applications we are not really using them, so revise yourself and check out the most important apps for your really using and install them, test this thing for a week, then you will know which important, the stability or too many apps .
thats not means i'm not a 3rd party applications user

I am going to try installing Windows Mobile 6 Titanium 2 again and install 1 app per day untill I find the one that is killing the performance of the rom. Thanks for the idea.
It sounds like people are generally getting a pretty major performance increase from some of these cooked ROMs. Especially Dutty's WM 6.1. I think I'm about ready to give it a shot. I want to make sure I flash the right ROM though. So I have a few questions before I do this.
1) Im assuming most of my CAB files will work in WM 6.1; (Egress 3.4.0, Good FTP 1.0, Live Search 3.0, Opera 9.5 beta, Mortplayer 3.31, Resco Explorer 2008 beta, wmTorrent 2.1.6, IM+ v3.4.1, SPB Mobile Shell 2.0, Pocket Scrobbler 1.5, TCPMP 0.72RC1) Any known issues with any of these programs on Duttys WM 6.1?
2) I read somewhere on this forum that the "lite" version removes Duttys_AdobeFlashLite_3. Is this correct? I thought the newest version for WM was FlashLite 2.1. If version 3 is available, could someone post the CAB?
3) I'm unfamiliar with various Radios. If I run WM 6.1 on an ATT Tilt in the USA, what radios can I use?
4) Aside from Duttys WM 6.1, are there any other ROMs I should consider?
5) If things go wrong...can someone post the original ATT ROM?

All of these answers are in the Wiki or FAQ I suggest you read them thoroughly before flashing. Check out the links in my signature.

good place to start, read, read and then re-read, roms are a choice base on what you like.

What about FlashLite 3?
What about FlashLite 3? Does anyone have a CAB?
Hello everyone, just joined, first time poster and relatively new to the scene. So please, in this aspect, I am a newb.
I have managed to follow the guides to convert my elfin from winmo 6.0 to 6.1 and am running onyx ultimate and am happy. There is one exception, my work uses an app that can only be installed on winmo 6.1 and after trying to install it and having it fail a couple of times, I realized something.
The ROM that I am using has had the SQLCE Mobile component removed. When I realized this, I downloaded from M$ website, the latest version (3.5), and again ran into troubles. From what I could decipher, I tried to use (3.0) and got farther, but still ran into problems.
Are there any other dependency issues or components that would accompany SQLCE that were removed in the Onyx release? I am so close, and would love it, if someone could assist.
Cheers,
Bob
I'm new to this forum and to flashing the ROM on my Wizard. This is a fantastic forum with a wealth of contributions, though it is rather daunting for the newcomer.
I have experimented with a couple of WM6.5 builds (RC4 and newer Beta), a 6.1 build, and the original 5.0. I find WM6.5 to be rather unusable. WiFi doesn't work well, TouchNFlo is intermittent, and everything is dog slow. 6.1 seems a nice upgrade to 5.0.
Are others having a similar experience with 6.5? Is it too much for this 3 year old device? I'm not sure what the advantages are, other than personal taste for user interface.
Another question (and excuse me for perhaps not doing a better search)--if I find a build I like, but want more than the "clean" version, can I easily add the missing pieces, such as Manila 2D?
Thanks everyone!
Hi! Glad you joined! With regards to your question....WM6.5 officially released on October the 18th so until then all of the WM6.5 builds were based on betas and RCs which usually have bugs and what not which usually end up being slow anyways...there are several 6.5 builds based of of the final/ release version which run fairly quick . WM6.1 has been out for a while now and is the best go between for WM5 and 6.5 as of right now and its highly recommended by me! Im not telling you to (because you should research and pick one on your own!) but i used X2Hs NSN WM6.1 with Manila 2D and it was blazing fast so you should look into that!Cheers!
Maybe try to overclock your wizard? I got H3r's WM 6.5 rom on my wizard. Overclocked to 260 Mhz, about 29-30 MB of free ram after reboot. It works better than some 6.1 roms i tested.
I installed X2H's new "iphone killer" WinMo 6.5 ROM and its BLAZING FAST even without overclocking.... i highly suggest you look into that!!!!!

in fact there are some cabs to add m2d (4 ex) htc home, etx.
and yes im using the iphone killer (wm6.5 based) and is really fast, no need to overclock (i think is no worth to overclock since the wizard work flawless with iphone killer and some others i have tried be4)
but 6.5 have a flexible interface so you wont miss the m2d (i prefer the htc home) but 6.5 is very nice..... and of course if you go to spb shell page there you can download very nice demos and get the best.good looking-funcional interface.
good luck!
p.s. send pm if you want more tips

Over / under clocking iphone killer rom
Hi there, how can you use dynamic over/under clocking with the iphone killer rom?
Download Homescreen++ and deactivate the Windows Standart Desktop Interface an select Homescreen++
About custom ROM of course. OK I know the first reaction to such question is that the question is stupid and "find out yourself" and such.
But I don't even have the device (I have HD2 and Touch Pro), I want to upgrade a colleague's Polaris because WM5 and our new Exchange 2010 don't fit very well.
So I don't have the time, our "prerequisites" are simple:
- WM6.1 and up.
- Manila (of any version) welcome.
- Stable and light.
Anybody can help?
If you are looking for WM6.1 then I recommend ROM in my signature. It comes without Manila. There is also a full flavor of this ROM with manila
thanks noted
unless someone comes with a nice 6.5 one (I already use 6.5.5 on my own devices)
use pcar's roms good stable and fast... also wm5? i swear this phone never came with that?!?!
what do you mean?
I am not looking at WM5 ROMs.
good rom => Pcarvallo's roms
WM5? I will explain. The touch cruise shipped with 6.0 upped to 6.1 then cooked to 6.5/6.5.x.
That was my point nothing really about it. Most likely a typo by you...
3LIT3 VIII Naked is probably the best choise. Everything what I tried worked without problem and soft-resets I did only extraordinarily.
Kostas' A- version is a stable WM6.5 rom, everything works very well.
Just try it out, you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554071
thanks guys
3LIT3 VIII for 6.1, without doubt.
megan rom for 6.5. full stop.
