Enable Fast & Slow USB Charging registry requested - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other
This feature (fast/slow usb charging) was appear on WM6 PDA Phone BUT NOT to the WM6 smartphone(i'm using HP iPAQ 512). From what my guess its just registry setting whether to display under settings/power management (correct me if i wrong).
Can someone please help to post the WM6 registry part at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power ? TQ very much.
The reason I need to enable FAST USB Charging, I'm using Internet Sharing but it seem like only SLOW USB Charging which 100mA, which mean after 3 hours + surfing from my laptop the battery will totally drain off [email protected]#$%^
Thus I need to tweak it to FAST USB Charging which allow 200mA
p/s: Sony Ericsson phone allow 500mA
You bring up and interesting point. That is why I like to flash ROM from a laptop with my dash at 100% battery in case the power goes out. Laptops have built in battery backup.
I noticed that if I used USB internet connection sharing (via activesync) with power to USB enabled, my laptop battery would drain fast but the Dash would still be 100%. So if you are operating remote without AC you may want to disable USB charging.
If you want the Dash to rapidly charge from the USB of the laptop just set it that the display quickly dims or powers off while connected.
Now as for the registry edit for fast USB charging perhaps some other guru will comment but that seems like it would be device dependent. Also Smartphones and PPC/PDA are quite different due to WM6 Standard vs. Pro OS.

hope it helps this would be a nice feature.

Yes, I don't see any about fast/slow charge settings inside the iPAQ 512 registry, probably required different driver files for that?

The problem is, once iPAQ battery level reach 100% it will stop charging, while your Internet Sharing keep on connecting to you laptop, if you using default WM tool to check battery level, it will show you its 100% but actually its dropping. The most, iPAQ would last 2-3 hours from Internet Sharing, after that this 'smartphone' will turn off itself & start charging from 0%.
Try Tweaks2k2 tool you'll see the actual battery level.
I'm still try to figure out how to increase the USB charging from 100mA to 200 or more mA..
Oh yah, I've tried use the USB Y cable(from portable harddisk, its two in one for pulling more power) but useless, still 100mA
is your cousin's htc p3400 allow switch btw Fast/Slow usb charginig??
hP IPaq
i Use Spb Battery Meter it tells acurate battery status n smartoolkit and n0 therez fast and slow charging 0pti0ns 0n my cuzins htc gene i dont knw why it does this mayb therez a way to increase usb voltage but i think its the usbfn driver because it tell the ppc how to handle the usb i think better post this topic on the dev n hacking thread coz i think will get better help there .
I have an HTC Advantage X7501 (Athena), and same here. Battery will drain dry in 2+ hours even w/ tethering USB charging when I am on ICS / WMWiFiRouter etc.
Charging is way too slow on these things!
But I never thought of the charging control can be changed in software though. So any updates?
The same problem is highly felt with the e-ten (now Acer) Glofiish M800, M810 and X800.
Any insight will be highly appreciated.

It Could Be in the XiP Dump Part01.raw with win Winhex You can see The Like Registry settings for Usb Charging etc

Hi all,
I've been trying to crack this issue for over 6 months myself and have spent over 100 hours on it.
Yesterday I was overjoyed (and slightly frustratied at my 100 hours) when I found this:

and http://www.bestparking.eu/miniusb.html
That cures all.
Let me know who else it helps.

[SOLVED] Linux USB Tethering on Touch Pro Working via ICS / usb-rndis-lite
There has been many problems in getting Internet Connection Sharing working properly in Linux. I had been using WModem/Wvdial which I have posted about here. The only problem is that this limited you to only certain ROMs as most chefs remove the Wmodem application as ICS is much easier to use. You can also use a BT dialup connection which is well documented for Linux/WM6 but this is not ideal for the faster HSDPA/HSUPA speeds. So the problem exists with the current usb-rndis-lite implementation where the device is recognized but the rndis0 interface never gets a dhcp address from the phone. In my many google searches I have come across a real solution that works. I do not take ANY credit for this as I simply stumbled across this on my many google searches. All credit to José Oliveira for posting this solution. For the full version please see Original Post The Fix: Code: Step 1 - Install Pre-requisites open a terminal (use same terminal in next steps) Code: $ sudo apt-get install subversion Step 2 - Get the Source Code: $ svn co http://synce.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/synce/trunk/usb-rndis-lite cd usb-rndis-lite/ Step 3 - Modify the source (Diamond only) Code: $ gedit rndis_host.c on line 524, find this bit Code: if (tmp <>hard_mtu) { dev_err(&intf->dev, "dev can't take %u byte packets (max %u)\n", dev->hard_mtu, tmp); goto fail; } change it to this Code: if (tmp <>hard_mtu) { dev_err(&intf->dev, "dev can't take %u byte packets (max %u)\n", dev->hard_mtu, tmp); retval = -EINVAL; /* goto fail;*/ } save the file Step 4 - Compile and make and install Code: $ make $ sudo ./clean.sh $ sudo make install Step 5 - Start the Internet Connection Sharing On OLD Tytn II's open Comm Manager on your phone and click on the Internet Sharing Now make sure USB is selected and choose connect On Diamonds it's a seperate program called Internet Connection Sharing Step 6 - Plug in the Phone (USB) You may need so select that device in NetworkManager or "sudo dhclient rndis0". Verified on a HTC AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro). Mods I apologize for the double post as I posted this solution in the Diamond forum as well. -e
Have you tested Bluetooth using wmodem? It doesnt appear to work on my touch pro. I am using the Sprint stock rom, but I have added the wmodem application and done all the registery hacks. USB works perfectly, but I can't get Bluetooth to connect at all.
weird i had no issues with ICS and my kubuntu laptop.
Are you using wmodem (DUN) or Internet Sharing application (PAN)? I have no issues connecting BT using Internet Sharing (PAN), but (PAN) doesn't work well with my work VPN.
I made a little change into the fix and now it's working for me : Code: if (tmp < dev->hard_mtu) { dev_err(&intf->dev, "dev can't take %u byte packets (max %u)\n", dev->hard_mtu, tmp); retval = -EINVAL; /* goto fail;*/ }
internet sharing not working for me. I am totally stumped. I have compiled and installed the usb-rndis-lite modules, but my phone (HTC 8525) still won't provide internet to my debian linux box. when I plug the phone into the usb port. I see that eth1 is created by the rndis_host module. This is with the connection sharing off. When I press connect on the phone, the computer acts like the usb was disconnected and reconnected. In the process the eth1 interface was deregistered. I have tried to plug the usb cable in while the phone was already in the connected mode (internet sharing shows "check usb connection"). This way, I get no indication of rndis_host doing anything. No interface is created at all. Here is dmesg output: Code: usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 68 usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice rndis_host 3-1:1.0: RNDIS_MSG_QUERY(0x00010202) failed, -47 eth1: register 'rndis_host' at usb-0000:00:10.2-1, RNDIS device, 80:00:60:0f:e8:00 usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0bb4, idProduct=0b04 usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 3-1: Product: Generic RNDIS usb 3-1: Manufacturer: HTC usb 3-1: SerialNumber: 01145735-9943-0170-0800-0050bf3f5173 eth1: no IPv6 routers present usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 68 eth1: unregister 'rndis_host' usb-0000:00:10.2-1, RNDIS device usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 69 usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0bb4, idProduct=0303 usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 3-1: Product: Generic RNDIS usb 3-1: Manufacturer: HTC usb 3-1: SerialNumber: 01145735-9943-0170-0800-0050bf3f5173 usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 68 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110 hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2 usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 69 Any Ideas? [Q] Tab seems to be dead
Hi there, another thread about a dead tab. My first question is about warranty. At the beginning I rooted my tab, this happend round 1,5 years ago. Since 2 days my tab seems to be dead and I didn't found a solution yet. There's no backlight, no sound by example when the charger is plugged (charger is working well), no reaction to any push button usage eg. ON + VOL- at the same time. I suppose the there is something with the hardware because the last few month I detected slightly flickering of the backlight. When I send it to Samsungs repair center or similar I assume that the tab may not be rooted, right? If so, is there a chance to unroot it in this state? Odin didn't detected the tab so I've tried a USB-tool (USB tree view) whats happening. I've deleted some entries, see below. Remarable entries are - string descriptors are not available because device is in low power state - MaxPower : 0x32 (100 mA) Max power should be higer I suppose and low power could be right when the battery can't be loaded due to loose connections or whatever. Any hints regarding warranty, unrooting or fault issue would be fine. - YYVYVVY Connection Status : Device is connected Capabilities : EjectSupported, UniqueID, SilentInstall, RawDeviceOK Problem Code : 7340032 (CM_PROB_0x700000) Power State : D6226037 (supported: D1, wake from D0, wake from D1) ---------------- Connection Information --------------- Device Bus Speed : 0x02 (High-Speed) ------------------ Device Descriptor ------------------ idVendor : 0x0451 (Texas Instruments) idProduct : 0xD00F bcdDevice : 0x00 iManufacturer : 0x21 *!* string descriptors are not available because device is in low power state iProduct : 0x25 *!* string descriptors are not available because device is in low power state iSerialNumber : 0x00 MaxPower : 0x32 (100 mA)
