I got my silicone case for the Touch Diamond today. I ordered it from http://www.netimes.com/shop/black-silicone-skin-case-for-htc-touch-diamond-p3700-p-1200.html.
It fits OK, but there is one thing that I think could be better. The cutout for the USB connector in the bottom is 4cm wide for some reason. Because of this they have not been able to make a hole for the stylus pen. This means that there is no way of taking out the stylus pen when the silicone case is on! Seems pretty strange to me...
If they had made the USB cutout just 2cm wide, which would have been more than enough, there would have been no problem to make a hole for the stylus pen.

I notice that the cover creates a 'raised edge' around the screen. Does it interfere with the touchscreen?

Good question! I'm not using my fingers on the Diamonds touch screen a lot, I usually use the stylus pen.
But after trying it with my fingers for a while, I think that it does intefere a bit when you use the fingers for navigating. If you swipe your finger from the right to the left on the screen, your finger often "catch" the left side of the silicone case and stretch it a bit. But as the silicone stretches without problems, I don't know if it will be a problem in the long run.

damn damn damn!
i fc****ing dropped my Diamond this morining and the beauty is spickled with scratches now. (fortunatly not the screen)
if anyone jumps into a polisher to remove scratches on the lower part where the keys are , please post here
Devaluated by at least 200 US becausew of this ... Damn myself

How about Brando?
http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02641&dept_id=004&cat_id=0002

i tried out the silicone case at a local mall
and it seemed ok
it is ugly as ****
but its cheap and does the job...
i decided to stick with a hard clear plastic case though, just seemed a bit better ...

For those of you who already have a silicone case for the Diamond, could you please tell me if you are still able to rub your finger around the edge of the center button and navigate up and down lists? Or does the silicone prevent this from happening (as it is based on capacitance, and given that silicone is an insulator, I would expect that this would stop working...).
BTW, I agree that the cutout at the bottom, way too bug for USB and with no possibility of taking the stylus out, is pretty stupid! First thing I noticed... But despite this I might still be tempted over the stock case I got with my Orange phone.
Thanks

Case for the TC

Hey all,
I've wanted some kind of casing even before I had my TC.
A leather thing would be most protective, but mostly that will be in book or booklet form, which is very unhandy to make phonecalls.
However there are a bunch of metalic or silicon cases available too. I was wondering which one to buy, for example http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000220&products_id=7161 seems pretty good except for the awful "With transparent plastic protection.". Which pretty much ****s up the total TouchFLO thing.
What do you think?
well the screen is the most sensitiv part of the phone
it would break more easy then anything else of the pda
The only ones that I have found are from pdair. I would like to see a glove fit or skin that would leave the front open for the touch flo.
I'm ordering mine from ebay...Search for HTC Touch Cruise. Much cheaper than pdair; and for the same product.
Let me know if it is any good, I'll wait, as I'm not much on the road right now.
case
Hey SabbeRubbish, I have bought a case for my X800 its not designed for wither the TC or the X800 but it does the job it’s a slip case from Ted Baker London its black with a purple lining its quite cheap and real leather so it might be in your interest to see it. And it covers the screen completely meaning no scratches and accidental unlocking the screen?
Sounds good, can you post a few pictures? Thanks
Touch cruise comes with a lovely, very classy, black velevet/suede pouch (slip case). Very elegant and protective. I don't think you need another one.
Since the Cruise is a relatively new device, there's not much in "specific" cases. You can get pouches that are fit for device that are similar in size and shape. Here are some of the ones that I found that are "compatible" with the Cruise.

Thanks for the reply, but I was looking more for something to hold the TC, rather than to burry it in. It's a phone, and I should be able to answer it withing 10s, not having to get it out of some kind of pouch.
I was thinking more like:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000220&products_id=7160

I don't know, opening a little flap or pulling out a device out of a pouch shouldn't take anyone that much time. The flip cases are a PIA (IMHO) and most other cases add bulk to the device. The Cruise is not that small to begin with.
Of course, preference is the key when selecting a case.
True, but I don't want the hassle of a pouch when risking the TC to fall out if it all goes quickly. Therefore I was thinking of the aluminum casing in which it is tightly held. That way impact damage will be less. But I think leather protects best against any falling damage. And no I'm not planning on dropping it a lot or giving it to friends or children

there it is sorry i took so long to post i had 2 days off so i spent them away from anything electircal lol except my touch which arived monday morning. its the one thing the shiny screen surround but an almost like brushed aluminum keys. really happy with it other than vedio quality.
but anyway that the case ive got but instead of green its purple. and ignore the phone inside the case in the pic its a universal case but it fits the tc slightly losely which is a really nice fit in my opinion then again ive never really liked tight fiting cases.

Ummm... What is standard screen protector made of? One which comes with TC?
Plastic?
Just curious...
I'm not sure, and can't find anything online about it, but it feels like plastic, definitely not glass or rubber
I guess that it *might* work with this kind of cover, but it should almost stick to the screen like the screen protector. And then again, if doesn't really stick to it, it doesn't protect the screen from filth coming through...

DIY: Modded Proporta Case

Hi,
In the quest to have a decent protective case, I went to the extent of modding a well-known one. The Proporta.
As many have seen, Proporta holds the Desire only in two points and leaves the rest of the phone unprotected.
What I've done was to remove those clamps and glue a gel case. The result can be seen in the attachment.
To me the original clips are holding the phone very well, there is one also on the bottom as well avoiding it to slide off. Im very happy as it is!
How the devil did you glue the rubber case to the leather?, I've tried to glue silicone before and had absolutely no luck at all, nothing sticks to it.
I used the same glue that's used in shoes. I don't know it's type in english! It's something in the line of Pattex Contact, I believe.

My Proporta case has no clip on the bottom?
I like the case, though the clamps/clips on side are a little looser than what they were when I first got it. As such the Desire seems to slide upwards or downwards when the case is opened (i.e. when in call) which is annoying and just about bearable. A stability clip, somehow implemented, would definately be a plus to an otherwise great case IMHO.

nice solution, now you've got my brain cogs whirling I think I've got some Shoo Goo that I used to use on my trainers back in my longboarding days.
I've got myself a Tuff-Luv case, which is basically the same case as the proporta minus the aluminium plate. Do you think in your opinion theres enough room to cut a hole in the back of the leather case to be able to use the camera?, perhaps seal the cut with something?
I keep flip-flopping between it being to close to the edge of the 'flap' and that it should work.
I've attached a picture on how it looks in mine.
I believe that it should work but it would definitely need some way seal the cut.
Unfortunately I can't give you any suggestion on the how! My expertise in leather is almost non.

Silicone case for flat back

Hi I am currently awaiting delivery for my DHD (and it could be a week or two).
I am wondering if anyone who owns a Silicone case - or something similar, and has found a case that allows for the phone to sit flat on a table surface to allow for one handed use. With the camera design set out from the main body I am hoping the case would come up to this level preventing rocking action.
Does the phone rock around on a table when used without a case or is it bearable?
I will then add a screen protector perhaps a Zagg product or similar.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Si
mine is currently cases-less, and does rock around when it on the table. however, placing a little phone sock under the phone is good at reducing the rocking, but i cant find one big enough to fit the phone in yet.
still looking for a good case, but it seems 3rd parties are being slow with this phone.
I'm needing a case or something like a bumper for my DHD.
I've had it 3 weeks and dropped it twice on to hard surfaces, got 2 small scratches and a small dent at the power button (since the button was flush with the case to start with, its actually made it a bit better!! LOL)
but my luck won't last too much longer so I need to protect it...
any ideas??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I was thinking of using a phone sock to help keep it protected, the problem is having to slide the phone out every time i want to use it, id end up just leaving it somewhere. But keeping it steady with one is a good idea - but overall I'm looking for something more protective, good looking and will prevent the rocking.
I'm normally quite good with not dropping my phones, but a bumper or silicone case would be a must with a screen this size...don't really want to scratch or dent it (even if it has its upsides ;D ).
I'll keep looking, the annoying thing is that all the silicone ones I have found only have front or back on photos, not from the side...which is obviously important to check the level in relation to the camera area.
Cheers
Si
Was browsing through Google products and found this new one on Play, looks really cool not as dull and uninspired as the average silicone protector. I don't know again if it will help the issue with the raised camera, but I am still really interested.

I bought one of these and it does what it says on the tim. Protects the back and sides while offering unfettered access to the screen. It helps with the grip too, so I'm less likely to drop it (eek!)

To be honest, I don't think the picture shown is even the actual product. There is no hole for the speaker and the whole is definitely for the 3.5mm jack. (you can see the power button raised on the upper right corner). Since the case is not released yet, this is quite possible.
I've got this one too...
As CD993 says it does wobble, but only marginally... this is a TOUCH screen after all, you don't need to press very hard for it to respond!
The fact it's nearly £10 cheaper than the official HTC one (and yes, the image is wrong or else it's not going to have enough cutouts on the back!) is good enough for me!

Got it on, and loving it! Extremely perfect fit. 100% top quality. It's all one piece, so getting it on is a bugger, but once it's on, you can't tell it's a case unless you know what the phone looks like without it. The light gray part is very soft, and very comfortable to hold. It does not add extra bulk when holding it, but just enough, so now it rest better in my palm. The glossy hard black part makes it look so sexy. Overall a great feeling case. The buttons are the easiest to push now. Even though they stick out ever so slightly they don't look out of place like the OtterBox commuter case. They have a dimple on the inside also which helps press the buttons on the phone, so you no longer need to press firmly, but just a gentle press works fine, but not so gentle that you would press it by mistake. The rubber around the screen is a great fit. It goes all the way to the glass, so you no longer have that aluminum edge there. All in all a great case. I highly recommend it.

Nope. The lens is slightly inside the case. The entire phone lies perfectly flat. Actually the shinny black back doesn't even touch the surface when it's on its back, so that won't get scratched by sliding the phone on a table or anything. The soft gray side grips are slightly raised from the case, so the middle is actually off the ground (I tried taking a pic of that, but it just looks like it's sitting flush, so I didn't add those).

So, the thing is a ***** to fit into initially.
Will it give way after a while so you can get it in and out easily, or is it some hard plastic that won't yield or wear down? Do you guys who own one see any way of modifying it for quicker removal?
I'd really like a case but I do not want to lose the ability to use my device for satnav, and I already have the Brodit cradle mounted....

The shinny black part is very hard plastic, and since the very soft gray part is fused to it, it is really really hard to get in and out. I almost feel like if I push any harder I'm going to break one or the other, but the soft part is just soft enough to get it in there. I don't see how it could get easier over time. It's one of those cases that once it's on, it's on for a long long time. Compared to the OtterBox Commuter case that one seems like it can fall off, and the Pop case seems like it was actually made into the phone, and not to come off without a struggle, but if I had to make a choice I would pick the Pop case 100% of the time. Again if you compare them side by side the OtterBox looks like it was made for a kid to play with, and the Case-Mate one that you buy tickets to see it in a museum. It is that good!
Thanks a lot for the quick reply mate. I was thinking that maybe one could cut or file down one of the plastic ridges that snap into place around the screen to hold the device.
I done that ages ago on a case for a XDA mini, and it worked quite nicely but obviously there is a thin line between making the in and out easier and making the case unusable by cutting in too far...
Again thanks for your input...

Nillkin stand & flip cover case [youtube review]

Hey guys,
I did a quick youtube review (my first!) of the Nillkin Fresh flip case with stand:
I purchased this cover from ebay, it arrived in a few days from Singapore. The quality is very good although the stand function isn't perfect. It offers a reasonable level of protection for the handset and overall I'm very happy with it.

Unfortunately the front flap doesn't stay closed, it's similar to the samsung galaxy flip if you've seen those.
I don't find it an issue for me but I can imagine for some it could be a problem (for example: if you were going to put your phone loose in your bag).
Cheers
Like you said on the video about it not standing up quite right. Would it with time wear and become more flexible in order to do this better. Also how is it pressing the buttons and also as you mentioned when you dropped it, which part of the phone did it hit.
Also for those who want your phone to unlock as you open the cover and vice versa heres a free app I found

Like you said on the video about it not standing up quite right. Would it with time wear and become more flexible in order to do this better. Also how is it pressing the buttons and also as you mentioned when you dropped it, which part of the phone did it hit.

Yeah I expect it will wear in over time and should stand up upright a little better, the fold in the flip cover is still quite "springy" at the moment.
I can't say which part of the phone hit the floor when it fell as I wasn't watching whilst it happened. It probably fell from a little under a meter on to hard marble floor, it certainly made a loud bang (suggesting it hit somewhere on the hard back). The phone was still secure in the case and there is no visible sign of damage.
I have a little concern that if the phone hit floor on the very top or very bottom then there is a chance it will completely bypass the case. Although I think this is the same with most hard back cases.
Cheers

I find it great in front pocket. The front cover stays closed & the case doesn't add much extra bulk. :good:

Great, are you in the UK and if so where did you order one from. I already ordered one from ebay (~nillkin_case or something) but it said it'll take between a month and month and a half. So if there's a more viable option i'll cancel that one.
It looks great this case and there is little to choose from wrt cases that have a stand.
EDIT: Trust me to order it during chinese new year :/
Looks good, I've currently got a TPU SLine case, but putchased a TPU case with kickstand, which I'm hoping is alright for a daily driver, but if it isn't I might have a go with this case.
Thanks for the review.

What do you think of them S-Line cases? How would they fair with a drop from shoulder/chest height? Also let us know how the tpu with a stand goes.

I emailed them and they said because it's Chinese new year, they're not working till the 14th . If only I ordered it the day before lol.
So overall you're very happy with it and would you think about getting a good TPU case like Diztronic? or even Otterbox if it's available?

Yeah, I do really like it and it's certainly good value for money (£7.50/$10). I will probably get a TPU case at some point too and a bumper to boot. I guess they're all good and suit different purposes.
Yes, during Chinese New Year's it tends to get a little busy and slow especially since Singaporeans celebrate it, some other vendors online have warned about it being slow during this time.
The back seems a little slippery. I had a Mercury TPU which is as slippery on the back as it is on the front glass, so I feel it slide when I hold it with my fingers on the front and back. I guess with a textured front cover on this it shouldn't be as bad? Has any slipperiness from the case been a problem for you? Thanks for the review, it's very helpful.

I guess it is a little slippery but it isn't something that I've really noticed or found to be a problem. The naked nexus 4 was crazy slippery, it would just glide across the desk etc. With this case it's more like a normal phone, it stays put when left alone. Perhaps the stand latch helps anchor it a little better other hardback cases.
When answering calls you'd usually fold the cover over so the inside of your hand is connected with the microfibre material which helps secure it. A small observation is that due to the flip cover having enough material to also cover one side of the phone, when folded back there is more cover than back of phone. It's a minor criticism with the design and one that doesn't really bother me.
Overall I've found the case makes the phone much less slippery but I imagine that a soft backed case (eg: TPU) would secure it even further.
Cheers
