So im running WM6 w/ TNT PRO, and without fail after about a few weeks of flashing the new ROM my texting starts to go all wacky, it will not register any characters after a certain #, which varies everytime. And then eventually my entire phone will freeze....ive tried soft resetting and everything. But the only thing that seems to solve it is re-flashing which loses all my settings and everything saved, its really a pain...anyone got any ideas>???

I posted this earlier in another forum, but I think it got buried and lost.
I upgraded to Faria's WM6 successfully. Everything works great except it keeps reconnecting to tmobile data every 7 seconds. This started after I reset my wizard. I reflashed the ROM, everything worked again, but as soon as I reset, the connectivity deal started again.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Issue continued
With some registry edits, I can get it to stay connected, but now I can't get connected to messenger. I can use the internet but it won't connect to messenger.
Strange...

Ok, the registry wasn't any help to the constant reconnecting. I set windows live to sync manually. I just reset it to sync "as items arrive," and it began connecting constantly as before. Even if I change the frequency that windows live wants to sync (even to manual now), it keeps reconnecting every 7 seconds.
Back to square one. It seems to be an issue with windows live. There must be some setting that gets changed when I reset my device. It works if I reflash the WM6 ROM, but I really don't want to do that each time I have to reset or turn off my device.
are you paying for the full internet service? if not, then that is why messanger doesnt work. The free net deal is gone.
Yes, I do have the data package. Each time I reflash it works fine until I reset the device. Pretty frustrating.
Hello all. I have an HTC Touch Diamond on Bell. The issue I have is quite annoying. I want to avoid a hard reset as much as possible. Basically, the problem I have is that when I delete messages, they will always reappear after a soft reset. Any messages I received between the last reset message will be deleted once a soft reset is performed. For example, I received a message on May 23rd and messages received after that are not kept once I soft reset. I found users with a similar issue here: http://www.technologyquestions.com/...general/225754-text-messages-wont-delete.html
I have tried everything. Clearing ALL text messages doesn't even work. I clear my messages, wait overnight, then in the morning, soft reset, all the messages have returned. I would appreciate any help that you can give.
PS: It does the same thing with my email. I have 2 new emails in one of my three accounts, which I delete, and then sync again. After a soft reset, they have returned along with all the other text messages. It's very frustrating!
I should also say that I am not using a cooked ROM, I'm using the stock Bell ROM. Anyone have any ideas?
I've heard of this problem before.. and to be honest, i couldn't find a solution other than hard-reseting or replacing the ROM... i'm sorry..
wm reads your pim files everytime it loads.. and apparently you have a problem erasing data from within the file.. no idea why.
wait for a couple of days to see if someone managed to solve this.. if not, i'd hard-reset.
Thank you for your reply. I did a hard reset. I just hope this problem won't return. I really don't want to do a hard reset every 2-3 months!
flash new roms
you will be hard resetting every 2 weeks and finding out how much better your phone can be
try out the new microsoft my phone software you can sync over the network so you dont lose anything when you hard reset

I flashed a cooked ROM in the past and I didn't like it at all. The time stamps on messages were way off and even when changing the time manually it would switch back.
And thanks for the MyPhone suggestion. I've been using it since April and has worked pretty good so far. I also used Dashwire which worked nicely as well.
cooked ROMs in this forum are usually fantastic. you probably just stumbled upon a sucky one. I always suggest cooked ROMs as they are faster and more useful than the official ones (to be honest, i wouldn't be surprised if HTC actually assume their official ROMs will only be used for reference applications and system packages)...
also, ALWAYS backup your data. ALWAYS!
you can use PIMBackup2.8 to backup messages/recent calls/appointments/tasks.... and SPB Backup/Sprite Backup/Resco Backup...to backup you system.
dont soft reset hold the power button until the popup appears then press yes... worked for me
If you soft-reset just in few seconds after deleting mesages, they'll appear again. They'll also appear again if you don't let time to write again the registry.
For soft-resetting, better use an app to do this, slowly. If not, take your time to power off after some minutes. Remember the message "everything you did not save will be lost" and apply it for the fact you deleted the messages but this deletion was not "saved" yet if you don't take you time.
As I stated earlier, I even waited overnight to reset, and have done it by holding down the power buttion. They would still come back. Something was corrupt and only a hard reset would fix it.
Regarding the cooked ROM, I used MightyROM before and it gave me issues.
This is a pretty general issue so I've plonked it here.
Since the new version of Microsoft MyPhone was released my phone continues to crash regardless of what ROM I'm using. Has anyone else had this?
There are about 800 text messages to deal with and it will bomb out and crash the handset at random, there is no pattern to it. Sometimes it crashes at about 100, sometimes it crashes at about 300. The most annoying thing is that it synchonises in the middle of the night, crashing the phone and then my damn alarms don't go off!
I've had the same ROM for a few weeks now (Duttys Leo R5) since before the new MyPhone tool came out and didn't have any issues until after this point. I've tried flashing the custom ROM again, flashing different custom ROMs, hard resets etc and they all crash when updating the text messages in MyPhone, I'm now on Duttys Leo R6 and that crashes too.
Any ideas guys?
No one else has had this issue I guess
Mine doesn't even work lol.
Keeps saying My Phone is not responding and must be shut down because of an unexpected error.
I just think it's a junk program.
I'm having reliability issues when it comes to SMS. The phone often freezes when a text arrives, requiring a reboot. Once rebooted, the new text is gone and never re-appears. This can be kind of a big deal, as you might imagine, because people assume I got a text that I never actually got to read...
I am running Fireburned's WM6.5 v3.1 ROM. I usually have SMSBubbles running, but it has happened when disabled as well.
If this is not a particularly known problem with some sort of fix available, is there, perhaps, some software that will more robustly save an incoming text? Thank you!
have you tried reflashing the rom? I've had a few softwares problems, and they've always been fixed by a reflash
I'm also facing the same problem.. tried re-flashing but still the problem exists??????? Some body help!!!
Hi everybody. Although this is my first post I had registered a couple of weeks ago and have been lurking for a long time. I thought I would post my experiences with the issues in the title in hopes that they might help someone else.
Th first problem I tackled was the SMS issue. With some contacts I could not reply to messages because their displayed phone number did not contain the area code even though it was listed in my phone's contact page for them. I also could not initiate a text message from their contact profile as the area code would be dropped when typing the message. The only way I found to send or reply to a message was to start a new message and enter the beginning of their phone number or name then the phone number would be displayed correctly including the area code.
I tried all the suggestions I found here and other places. Such as deleting all cache and log files as well as deleting the individual contacts and recreating them. Nothing I did solved this issue. What was really weird is some of my contacts did not have the area code in their phone number yet it would be added when messaging.
Finally I sync'd my contacts with gmail. I then logged in and made sure all phone numbers had the correct ten digits. Then I performed a factory reset on the phone and resync'd my contacts with gmail. All messaging issues were resolved.
Doing a factory reset gave me the ambition of trying to solve the phone shutting off after being charged. This was a problem as long as the charge was at least 78% to 80%.
After fixing the SMS issue I left the phone completely stock for more then a week. Not once did I experience any shutdowns. I then installed LauncherPro Plus. Immediately the shutoff issue returned. After several days I performed a factory reset and left it at stock and experienced no issues for another week. Reinstalled LauncherPro Plus and the issues returned.
I performed another factory reset and installed ADWLauncher. After two weeks of use not a single shutdown. Thinking this was fixed I started installing apps. Although not as severe the shutdowns returned. Uninstalling all the apps resulted in the phone no longer shutting down. So I started installing apps one at a time and testing for a few days in-between the installs. Some apps would cause the phone to shut down while others were fine. There really was no pattern to which apps worked compared to the ones that didn't. Both Handcent and ChompSMS caused shutdowns.
After a couple of weeks of using the phone with installed apps that caused no shutdowns I installed Spirit Level Plus. Once again the phone randomly shut down when charged above 80%. This made no sense as this app should have minimum interaction with the operating system. Then, for whatever reason, I had an idea. I uninstalled Spirit Level and reinstalled it using TWLauncher and once installed switched back to ADWLauncher. The phone never shut down after this.
Thinking I might be on to something I installed both Handcent and ChompSMS using the same method. What a pleasant surprise it was when after a week there was not one shutdown. So I installed a few more apps and still did not see any issues. This was maybe a month ago and since that time I have probably installed 40 - 50 apps using the same method and have not seen one shutdown.
I apologize for this post being so long but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. Hopefully this will help someone else and also be a small repayment from me for all the valuable info I have gotten from the forum.
stock or not it will reboot. the phone has a hardware issue. warranty it asap.
Still no random shutdowns. As far as exchanging the phone I think I'll hold off for now. Sending it in under warranty will most likely get me a refurbished phone that may or may not have the same or other issues.
