Help regarding upgrading!!! - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

I successfully upgraded my ROM to 2.03 but it seems alot of programs are missing. I did a hard reset but it didnt install the files it supposed to have. Unlike when i hard reset my xda mini when it was still on its original rom it doesnt happen after the upgrade. And i cant install the cab files, it says it my mini doesnt support it.
And my ExtROM is missing!!! Is this how Big storage works?
Can anyone shed light on this plss...
Thanks in advance!!

Yes. Big storage Rom means removing your extended ROM.

Windows files

I have been experiencing a very slow phone with thousands of files (many copies of some) in the windows folder. I have 5 copies of some files!! i need help deleting the files out of my windows folder because i think that's what slowing myphone done. I have changed the rom thousands of times from Black diamond 3.1 to tmobile 2.26 to TNT 5.0 to tmobile 2.26 again, and now im back at TNT 5.0 professional.
Please help me and my phone please!
This is due to some software you installed (such as unpactched HTC Home Plugin, HTC Photo Album etc).
Normally deleting the files or uninstalled the affected software will not restore the system to normal speed. So take note of what you have installed, and avoid using that after hard reset.
p.s. You don't need to flash the phone with another ROM, just hard reset is enough.
sorry, im trying to find the hard-reset tutorial, but it's actually hard! can you help me out plz.
does the phone have to have the tmobile 2.26 rom when i hard reset? I tried it with the TNT 5.0 and it failed.
It says:
Format Partition FAT
Format Failed
ive tried it with the TNT rom, the tmobile rom, and even with my sdcard in it. please help, thanks.
Refer to this post to get it fixed.

[solved] Palm 750 wm6 speedup options

Hi all, im new here in terms of posting but have been reading for a while now.
I have a Plam Treo 750 vodafone which is unlocked. I installed vodafone wm6 update on it a month ago... but since then i've stopped using the phone due to this:
I'm used to fast systems such as my linux desktop and i was really frustrated how the wm6 interface is slow. Even with few progs installed the phone gets very sluggish and hanging up calls even takes time.
Now here's my question:
Is there any way to speedup WM6 ? or install a custom WM6 that is faster ?
I tried Rest of the World wm6 ROM but it wouldn't install on my phone when i opened the installer it would say not compatible.
Would this speedup my phone ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345748
What should i do... i really love the phone and its features... but i just want wm6 to run faster so that the phone is usable.
thanks

Got it right mate! Nice research!
can anyone please help me install "WM6 AKU0.7.0 WWE Cooked ROM Lite"...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345748
I've never done something like this before and have no idea how to begin.. I can't find any guides only random text throughout the posts so i don't know what applies to me and what doesn't. I'm really worried about damaging my phone by doing something stupid.
My Phone:
750v from vodafone UK with vodafone wm6... but it was unlocked by previous owner... since i can use it on other phone providers in other countries. I have usb cable and 1Gig microSD.
The installation notes of the rom say i need to install Hard-SPL then flash radio then flash OS. Now for Hard-SPL do i need to install it if my phone is unlocked because i read some confusing posts there... then what is a radio flash do i need to do that ? how does it affect radio...
then after that i need KaiserCustomRUU.exe to flash the rom... i only found a post about CustomRUU with "RUUWrapper.zip" is that the same thing... sorry but i'm really confused and need someone to guide me through the process for my first time if possible.
You are ready to go. Download the ROM from Chaimd on the 750 Upgrading thread, rename it to CHEEIMG.nbh (the ROM file name the 750 expects to see) and copy it to the root of your miniSD card.
Insert the miniSD card, hold down the bottom right button on the side while you do a reset and the bootloader will start. And away you go.
Make sure you backup (backup program is best) all your data - it starts you out with fresh device and default settings. ROM works perfectly - fast and lots of extra storage.

Thanks txzman for the info. But just to be sure i understand... you're saying i don't need to install Hard-SPL from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100&page=1
Nor do i need to flash the radio ?
UPDATE:
ok i didn't install Hard-SPL or flash the radio.
I tried to install the rom straight away... i put the ROM on my memory card root and renamed it, then did the reset with sidebutton...and i got to the wierd colors screen and nothing happenes after that.
It says on the screen:
Palm Tr
IPL-0.20
Palm Tr
SPL-0.24.0000
In the end nothing happens... this method doesnt work. i tried using KaiserRUU.exe update method but also that doesn't work it gives me and "Error [260]: Connection" even though activesync is connected... please tell me what i can do to install this rom.
i posted the question in the thread for the cooked rom. i guess this is not the right place to ask thus no one is replying.
sd needs to be formatted fat32 - re-format card to fat32, re-copy cheeimg and try again. Google or search here for the available formatting apps.
INSTALL HARD-SPL FIRST....
i can't stress this enough...

If your Palm Treo is unlocked, you still need to install Hard SPL but just run step 1 and ignore step 2 & 3. This will allow you to flash your Treo with ROM's other than your provider as well as modified/cooked ROM's like the one made by Chaimd.

Hi pal!!
These cabs are the result of didnĀ“t formated RAM before upgrade to a cooked ROM, remember that all of original ROM's have a precharged extendedROM, cause you dont erase this extended ROM, it still loading in your new coocked ROM, this extendedROM is necessary in the original ROM for fixing probles and update functions but with the cooked ROM dont works and rest free memory.... Try this:
Format the RAM with mtty.exe, deactivate activesync usb connection and Put the uni in Bootloader before conect your UNI.
Open the mtty.exe and choose USB conection.
Put: task 28 55aa and enter
this will format your UNI's RAM,
Now your uni is Empty, you havent ROM and ExtROM, close the mtty.exe
Dont scare!!! and dont reset the uni, disconect the UNI and connect again,
Upgrade your prefered ROM and thats all. your UNI is free of garbage.
Hi
Thanks for your attention but I have my extended ROM unlocked ( thanks to
ranju's great work) and I can delete these files or simply format my extrom.
The question was that if I delete these files, am I going to have problems after
the next hard reset?
again thanks for your attention...
You will not run into problems at the next hardreset.
But anyway you can save the files somewhere and put them back if needed.
Thanks to all...
If anyone knows what are these files exactly, I will appreciate.
I can upload them if needed.
Thanks in advance..........

Help: Ext Rom

Need help guys! How can i delete the files contained in my phone's storage or ext rom? I tried deleting the files but as soon as I soft reset my device, all of the files keep coming back... It really drains my battery big time and I want to get rid of it. How can I permanently delete the files contained in my phone's storage? Hope someone could help me here, thank you in advance!
Sukir420,
Not quite understand the question. Sorry, but you are referring to too many things without much details.. ExtROM, files in it and 'Storage' are two different things , The files in ExtROM are used by the device to install additional applications which are there in it, when you Hard Reset your device, and otherwise they just lie there eating that space.
It would help if you post more details about your device and current versions of Radio/ROM/ExtROM and whether your device is SupeCID unlocked etc.,
Anyway, act any of the below at your own risk.
a) If you would like to delete files in ExtROM first unlock (search this forum to get the extrom unlocker) it and make it visible then use a tool like TC (type /Extended_Rom folder) or Resco Explorer and delete filesfrom it. Alternatively you can pick up one of the empty ext ROMs floating around and flash that then unlock it to use that space as storage.
b) Do not understand or comment on whether files in ExtROM could significantly impact the battery drain!! , to my knowledge files in ExtROM may not impact battery too much.

Oh, okay sorry for that. I am then referring to Ext Rom. Yes, sir I would like to flash an empty ext ROM for my uni but I can't seem to find one. If you could please help me with this I would definitely appreciate it Sir. The files located in my ext Rom has an autorun file with it and again, sorry for implying that about my uni's battery getting burned too quick.
My Uni is superCID unlocked and I am using Tomal's WM6.1 Rom right now. I had this problem since I flashed my Uni with the "WM5 faster than WM6 ROM" for its video calling feature but I was too hooked to WM6 that's why I flashed back to Tomal's.
So, if anybody can help me with an empty ext rom to flash, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks guys!
Here you go
You can find Empty Ext Rom here
Surprised to note taht when you are on Tomal wm 6.1 (hopefully 8.2) you should not have ext rom as is unless it is 'NOT UNLOCKED'.
Tomal's Rom makes the ExtRom as 'Storage' which is visible and uable for storing files.
Ensure that your Extended Rom is unlocked and Visible before flashing this empty one. Other alternative is, use the unlocker tool and reflash your current Tomal version, if you can manage to reinstall the applications you got post Hard Reset as that would for sure make ExtRom as 'Storage'.
Attached is a working Ext Rom unlocker(at least it worked for me)
All the best !
The link for the empty extension rom states "Page not found", if you could please provide a mirror for this file, thank you very much sir for your big help.
Uploaded the ms_.nbf file which is Ext Rom for you to rapidshare.. Hope this helps

Storage memory corrupted with WM 6.5

Hi,
I've got a Touch Cruise that I've flashed several times three days ago.
First I've done the hardSPL flash, CID unlock and SIM unlock.
After this I've flashed with a 6.1 rom (M-Amine 2.0) but I was seaking for a more "finger-friendly" UI so I've tried Kostas's C2 rom.
It's after flashing with Kostas's C2 rom that the problem first appeared. After a hour I could'nt launch any software. As File Explorer was already executing, I tried to launch exe files directly, but there were no more files in phone storage memory.
I softreset the device and it failed to boot (everlasting windows starting logo).
I've hardreseted the device and it booted successfully.
So I flashed the device with pcarvalho eXtreme :
pcarvalho eXtreme (3.60.WM65X) ROM 3.19 R0 Release (101MB RAM) [23557] (non3D) [16-Apr] (fixed)
It flash well, run for two or three hours and I noticied that my ringtones mysteriously changed to the default one. Using the File Explorer I checked the content of storage memory and it was all corrupted. Missing folders, files with non-alphanumeric names in root folder...
After a hard-reset my phone works well.
Things I've done after each installation : Contact+sms restore using PPCPimBackup, TomTom installation (7.918.xxx)
My Rom :
OS Version : 5.2.23557
Radio Version : 1.59.46.12
Anybody knows where can it come from ?
Thanks

it can be a many number of things...but you can start by check the card first...every time you go from one rom to another check it and save things (important ones)
now you can only try to get things back with getdataback (always worked with me)...
cheers
Thanks for the answer. It's not my storage card that lose data but phones internal storage memory.
It happened again just now, while installing a cab file.
I've got the impression that it's linked to cab installer since the other times I have installed a CAB to (tomtom) but it could be the fact that cab installer is writing data on defective memory.
Is there a way to test the internal storage memory in order to check if the problem is hardware ?
Finally it happened again, without cab install, without any manipulation after the hard reset.
I switched back to M-Amine 2.0 (WM 6.1) and it seems to have resolved the problem.
It's like the file system driver used in windows mobile 6.5 don't works well with my phone, wich can explain the file renaming, file disappearance, directory loss etc...
I would like to have a solution to switch back to WM 6.5 and a more recent version of HTC applications, so if anybody have any idea where can it come from...
Sorry to post three messages in a row, but there may be a thing I misunderstood.
In Pcarvalho rom thread I've seen this :
There seem to be HR and MC losing data issues with some roms, so i recommend flashing a htc original rom and only then this one, before proceeding as always make a backup of all data before attempting to use this rom...

But I don't know what HR and MC stands for here.... Is this concerning only the Storage Card or phone's Internal memory can also be problematic ?
I may have to flash back to an official rom before try again a WM 6.5 rom.
The problem have disappeared since I'm back to a WM 6.1 rom

i've been trying with android while waiting for pcarvalho next release. i am using task29 and radio.nbh to clean up the rom. what i noticed is that ( and i believe) task29 does not really clean the ROM, because after flashing many times android ( and i always use Task29, then flash android rom) the problem that i have ( lock SD card and its r/o status) did not disappear. i've been switching from rom to rom to rom (different build) , trying to elimante the problem. at last i flash back pcarvalho's rom back, than task29, than back to android. the problem solve. i donno may be because task29 only perform quick format instead of full format. the problem stays. i think ( maybe i am wrong) the bigger the size of the rom file is better as it rewrite the whole rom instead of small section of rom.
i guess...
It's surely something like this, i've just flashed with an official rom and flashed with pcarvalho's one and this time it works like a charm. (by the way, thanks to all cookers for their works).
So the problem is resolved, I had misunderstood the problem of data loss as it does not affect only the storage card data but also phone's internal storage memory.
Thanks to all.
