I have installed esmertec jbed build 20071119.3.1 (3d mod & heap fix) installed. I want to know will it also run standard java applications (non 3d) and is this the latest version?
well by reading the version it looks like it was released on November 19 2007 and is version 3.1 Since its june 08 i think there might be a newer version.
I know there will be a newer version but the public availibility is more important. You know wht i mean.

1. It isn't.
2. what do you mean by "standard java applications"? Non-J2ME?
3. Did you read the MIDlet Bible?
Yes there is...
There is a new build. Dated some date in 2008-March. But still its v3.1. I have it & tried it. You can install it on SD cards, but then when accessing the files (eg: saving bookmarks, deleting bookmarks, saving pages.... on opera mini) it freeze for about 5-10sec. I think its because of the delay in accessing the file system on storage card. Problem disappear when installed to the main memory. But the program is over 2MB over double the size of previous. So, B'cos Im only using Opera Mini & morange only, I installed the older jbed on my main storage.
Note that my updates posted to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2263224 explain all these questions (what new versions there are, how the compare to each otehr etc).
Well I downloaded it as JBed3dMod_HeapSizeFix_12.02.2008_WM6 but the real version is as I told you above.
I am now going to read the bible and will tell you?
I am now using the Esmertec Jbed 20080222 3.1 Ebenezer.zip

Is it the latest and best now?

While the WM6.0 and WM6.1 edited ROMs with the newest NETCF v3.5 come
out one by one, most of them have a problem of incompatible NETCF and SQL with some softwares.
< For example >
Software 1. " Six Law" -------> e-book database of law, sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab is needed for it (also installed manually)
Software 2. " All-In-Me" ------> business software, sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab and sql.wce4.armv4.cab are needed for it (also installed manually)
After the two softwares mentioned above installed and run,
I keep getting the error message listed below:
System.IO.FileLoadException : Could not load file or assembly
'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=3be235df1c8d2ad3, Retargetable=Yes'
or one of its dependencies.
The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
After the discussion in this thread (especially thanks to juju-35), we get a
solution to fix that problem. List as below:
For people who need the solution to fix the incompatible NETCF and SQL,
Just collect the files mentioned here and install according to the instructions.
1. NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab-----> I don't know why I couldn't upload this file
But you can get this file (about 2.13MB) from forum or download the
NETCFSetupv2.msi (about 37.1MB) from Microsoft website.
After installing NETCFSetupv2.msi on PC, you can get the cab
"NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab" from :
C:/Program Files/Microsoft.NET/SDK/CompactFramework/V2.0 /WindowsCE/WCE500/armv4i
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it.
2. sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab -------> I have uploaded this file
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it. It provides the assembly
of 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0.
3. NetCFConfig.zip -------> I have uuploaded this file
Unzip this file and you get a folder. Copy the folder to Kaiser's main
memory. The folder has NetCFCfg.exe and two .dll files(ARM version) in it.
Then run " NetCFCfg.exe " and you can see the configure screen as below:
Four menus:
About ----> Show the .Net Compact Framework versions installed
You should see 2.0.6129.0 and 3.5.7283.0
GAC-------> Show all the Assemblies installed in the Global Assembly Cache
Device Policy----> In this menu, you can set the default NetCF to v3.5.7283
and click Apply button.
Application Policy----> Here you can override device policy for applications.
That is you can choose which software to run with
NetCF v2.0.6129. Then click apply button.
After that, enjoy!!!
If anyone occurs any other special situation, please post it here for discussion.

Is there any way to have downward compatible?
Maybe the sqlserverce is in the rom files so we can't made any modification to them.
i dont see my rom listed
I've had the same problem with many of the new wm6 and wm6.1 rooms
the program i use is pocket e-sword which requires SQLCE 2.0 or sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab
the 2 wm 6.1 roms i've tried that works is sleuth's (which i'm currently on) and austinsync's hybrid.
i've tried laurentius, udk, dutty's wm6.1 all can't..

Sorry, I had spend too much time to reflash my TyTN II so that there might be some other ROMs not yet tried.
I 'll give it a try when I get some free time.
Thanks.

Laurentius26 has released a new WM6.1 ROM~ L26 WM 6.1 Professional WWE V5.
It's fully compatible with Sqlce. I' ve tried this ROM and I like it very much.
Thank you my friend,
I was reading your thread before and saw which ROM's are compatible,
it was easy to take out the Sqlce from one of these

Not sure if you've realized the pattern, but the incompatible ROMs are the ones which have upgraded to NetCF 3.5 and SQLCE 3.5.
The ones that are not incompatible have NETCF 2.0 and SQLCE 3.0 just like the shipped ROM.
Hope this helps!
Your not completely right here!
I do have NetCF 3.5 running and my V5 ROM is compatible!
It was the first thing that I was thinking as well btw.

Was informing the original Op. It seems like you're the only person who tried to make any changes as everyone else has pretty much stayed clear of this thread.
Craig, I'm surprised you even listed my beta2 UltraClean ROM since it doesn't even have NetCF 3.5 SQL CE installed, hence UltraClean. You could always install Sql CE 3.0 and it won't be a problem. That's why I offer so many variants.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Alex, your rom is also very nice. The only one issue I occurred is that
after installing the E-book database of law I got an error message
as follows,
The file 'SLink' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try
reinstalling or restoring this file.
I have installed sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab and NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab manually,
but still got the error message.
Sorry that I didn't describe this in the first post.

Hello,
If your problem(s) come form the .NET CF 2.0 vs 3.5, which I think was mentioned to be the problem for esword in particular, there was actually a workaround posted in Quentin's ROM thread. I ran into the same problems with some of my cabs, I did the changes suggested in the thread, and it worked for me.
Basically, these were the steps:
1- Flash any ROM that has .NET CF 3.5 (most ROMs these days)
2- Install .NET on your PC (needed for step 3, I found out!). Can be dowloaded form Microsoft website.(Install file called NETCFSetup35.msi)
3- Install .NET power toys from MS. (File called NETCF-v35PowerToys.msi)
4- Install .NET v.20 on your PPC (cabs can be found on this forum)
5- Copy Netcfg.exe and its dll (ARM version) to your PPC and run it (prog can be found in Program Files/.NET directory on your PC)
THe NEcfg.exe is a nifty utility that allows you to detect all .NET CF versions installed on your PPC, and apply a default version to all programs but setup a few programs to run on a different .NET CF (like 2.0).
This way you can have programs that would run on any versions of .NET CF installed while having msot of your programs running on the faster, newer version.
I researched this to get Zagat 2 GO ( a great restaurant guide!) to run. Runs beautifully for me on Schap's, Dutty and 5.2 Alex ROMs (the program needs CF 2.0 to run and the default on those ROMs is 3.5).
Hope this helps.

Make the NetCF Fix more easier
Yeah, I 've tested that method. It really works. All softwares can be run on

Hi Craig,
I'd like to add this as a link in the wiki. Can you edit the topic to be more appropriate now that you've found the fix? It'd also be very helpful if you were to summarize all your findings and your solution in the first post.
Thanks much!

For the fix to be activated, the NetCF Config folder should be copied
to main memory. For me, if I put the NetCF Config folder in micro SD card,
the fix doesn't work. So I copy the folder to Program Files folder in main memory.
won't install for me...
this is a great work around it seems, i still have one issue. When installing NET CF v2.0, it won't install. It gets to the very end then says "Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info: 3." .. followed by the .cab installation saying "Installation of NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab was unsuccessful"
What is the issue here? how do I fix this???
I'm running ROM 3.49.NO2.5066 (19588 WM 6.1) on Radio: 3.37.20 on an Alltel Titan

i have this problem when trying to install .net 3.5
any help on this error?
Is it possible to have both installed simultaneously and in ROM? I have had a look at the files with each OEM package and there are two common files (cgacutil.exe & mscoree.dll). I have attempted to put both .NetCF packages in ROM - i.e. removing the two older files from the .NetCF 2.0 package however it doesn't work. The ROM works, however .NetCF 2.0 reliant applications (VoIPSetup.exe, LiveSearch etc) don't run.
Just wondering if anyone has managed this?
Cheers
Andy
Yes. Then run the NetConfigurator (can't find the link at the moment) to select which app will use which version. I use it now.
Please let us know the link as I also cant get the link durring my initial searches.

Yes I cooked the .Net Configurator (NetCFCfg.exe) into my ROM and tried this but it didn't work. The Configurator works and I can change the .Net version that is used for the Applications it lists, however the .Net reliant applications don't run. I think the two overlapping files are the issue.
Did you cook both .NetCF versions into your ROM or did you add one?

In general MSVC will be installed in one of two locations:
\Windows – This is common on devices using ROMS with MSVC already built-in
\Program Files\Voice Command – This is common on devices where MSVC has been installed separately from a .CAB file. This method is preferred, as it isolates the MSVC files.
If you have Voice Command installed, you should be able to find the following:
Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Voice Command - This is the Voice Command settings applet. Inside the applet you should also note the version number you are running. More on that to follow.
Open File Explorer and choose to “Show All Files” under the menu setting. Then browse to one of the above locations and find the file “voicecmd.” This is the main executable.
You should now know which directory your MSVC is installed in. Remember this as you may have to reference it later.
You should also now know the version number. To my knowledge there are only two versions of MSVC that can be configured to work properly with incoming announcements on the Kaiser/Tilt (as well I think on WM6.0+ in general). These versions are:
1.6.4622 - Retail localized versions (avaliable in US, UK, and French versions). Should work but WITHOUT announcements (see below).
1.6.17913 - Updated retail US version, unsure of retail availability. Should work with WM 6.0 and early 6.1 builds.
1.6.19209 - Updated embedded US version, not available for retail. Should work with most WM 6.0 and 6.1 builds - RECOMMENDED!
1.6.19123 - Latest 6.1 embedded US version, not available for retail. Should work with newest 6.1 builds.
If you are not running one of these versions, you may be on your own! More notes on these and other versions below:
(NOTE: Version 1.5 will not work, and may not even properly install or initialize!)
To obtain these versions of Voice Command do the following:
Make sure you have purchased a full/upgrade legal copy of MSVC through retail channels or have a device to which an official OEM/Carrier ROM has been released containing a copy of MSVC 1.6.x !!!
Download one of the approved versions:
1.6.17913 - search for MSVoiceCommand_1.6.17913.CAB on google
NOTES on 1.6.17913 download:
I have had some issues with this version on some newer 6.1 ROMs. After installation your device may hang when attempting to show the MSVC help screen. In addition you may get other random lockups and a message popping up stating something along the lines of MSVC failed to start.
If you get a lockup when going to Start > Settings, reboot and delete the VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl from the \Windows directory.
I suggest you use the latest 1.6.19209 version below and only try to use 1.6.17913 on older 6.0 and 6.1 ROMs.
1.6.19209 – RECOMMENDED! - Available here.
NOTES on 1.6.19209 download:
This copy of MSVC 1.6.19209 is an updated version that is embedded in many of the latest ROMS available on this site.(note: a newer version has been released, see below).
I have created this CAB installer based on the latest AT&T 6.1 ROM. As far as I know, no other .CAB is available for this build.
I have tested this on a handful of the older 6.0 and newer 6.1 ROMS out there including the latest (as of 5/9/08) Dutty's and Laurentis' "Lite" builds.
I have configured my CAB to install to the "\Program Files\MS Voice Command" directory. Hopefully this will help some people out who can't overwrite files in alternate locations. (NOTE: The the VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl file MUST be installed to \Windows as it is a control panel applet...no way around this!)
REMEMBER TO SOFT RESET after installation. Also, if may take 1-2 minutes after booting up for everything to initialize, so don't start furiously clicking as soon as your phone comes up!
To the MODS: The link to the CAB contains only files that are available in the several dozen cooked ROMS floating on the site. If there is an issue with hosting this link here, please advise as I am only offering what is already posted here but in a different form.
Notes on Other Versions:
Version 1.60.4622 (Localized versions) has been tested to work but WITHOUT incoming announcements (either to phone or BT). To get incoming announcements to work you can replace the voicecmd.exe with the version from 1.6.17913 or 1.6.19209. You can obtain a copy of those files here:
1.6.17913 voicecmd.exe can be found in the voicecommandreplacementfiles.zip listed below
1.6.19209 voicecmd.exe can be found int the manual install file. Information on obtaining that file is below.
REMEMBER TO ONLY REPLACE THE VOICECMD.EXE FILE!
UPDATE 5/12/08 - A new AT&T ROM BUILD 19123 has been released and it contains a new version of MSVC. This version appears to function similarly to 1.6.19209 on 6.0 and 6.1 builds. I have a .CAB version but am not releasing it at this time since there are no noticable improvements. If 19123 builds become more prevelant, I will release.
Older Methods and Hacks
The file voicecommandreplacementfiles.zip that is circulating is simply a set of 4 files from version 1.6.17913. Copying these over your current installation in effect upgrades it to that version. There should be no need to apply those files if you are running 1.6.17913 or above.
The older methods of updating the audio gateway and using xcsdm's BTVoiceCommand (the 0.9f hack) do not seem to be valid for the Kaiser. Covering these methods is out of scope of this guide, but you can find more information by searching xda-developers and looking at info for other devices like the Hermes. Check out the section on MSVC here
** GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW WHEN INSTALLING/TESTING **
Always remove previous versions first if possible
Soft-reset after removing any previous versions
Soft-reset after installing a new version
Soft-reset after making any change to files or registy
If MSVC doesn't seem to respond to any commands after start-up, disable and then enable it in Start > Settings > Voice Command.

Has anyone tried this Flash Payer on their Athena or Advantage??? I read it works on the Athena Mitchy ROM.
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423860
Did you get it to work on the X7510?
If YES.....what version of Opera are you using?
I tried it on my Universal running WM5, but it did not work. I was hoping someone with a X7510 already tried it and could let us know if it works.
I will try it after I finish installing a bunch of stuff and make a backup, just in case it won't work. But at this point, I don't want to loose all the hard work I already put in, as it is hard to start from scratch and do a hard reset.
i have Flash 7 working, and Flash Lite 2.1
i haven't got the time to install the new Flash Lite 3.1 yet
i've got the files downloaded for more than 2 weeks, and it's still sitting in my miniSD
which suppose to enable ability to support Flash 8+ scripts
Installed as directed and yes it is working on my HTC advantage 7510

Thanks for the update. As soon as I finished setting up more software. I'll give this a try after a FULL backup, just to be on the safe side. I'll report back soon.
So basically, you just installed the Opera CAB file and the Flash Player CAB file in the MAIN memory, even though Opera is already in your X7510.
Weird thing happened...
OK, today I decided to try installing Opera 1957 (latest build). I moved Opera 1114 (original build) to my Flash Disk, just to be sure. Installed Opera 1957 and got a message: INSTALLATION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. Crap I said... went back and deleted every folder that was newly created and returned Opera 1114. Wierd thing is both version is running fine in my X7510. The older version consumes about 10MB of internal memory to run. The newer version only uses 4MB.
I still have not installed Flash Player. I will try if this causes any conflict for now.
Flash Player does work, but only on youtube.com
Hey,
I wnat to put beta 2 on my Touch Pro but if I download and install it will it overwrite the preinstalled version?
It did not for me.

* OperaL.exe
* setup.dll

I had to copy the following files from \Program Files\Opera 9.5 Beta to \Windows in order to overwrite the previous one:
* Opera9.exe
* OperaL.exe
* setup.dll
* splash_225x150.bmp

I did that and now Opera crashes on start. Stupid me didn't make backups. May somebody share their copies of these four files from the shipped version - build 1522 I think? Thanks...
EDIT: Wtf, after softreset now Opera seems to try starting and crashing all the time. Even if I close the crashed window it keeps poping up.

Weird.
Remove the 4 files from the \Windows directory, they'll be replaced by the original versions that are stored in ROM.
I confirm this:

If you are asking what the difference between beta 1 and beta 2 are. If I am not mistaken they introduced widgets into the browser with beta 2. However, I am running Beta 1 Build 2392. (Diamond rip? Found it on PPCgeeks or whatever) and it's running rather great. I ran both Beta 1 and Beta 2 and kept getting that frustrating "Out of Memory" error despite opening my cache to like 50k instead of the BS 10k max and still got that error after browsing some news sites. The 2392 build (theme is black like the diamond touchflow theme) and I get no more out of memory errors at all.
So you may want to look into that one if you wanted to actually use it as an everyday browser. As others have mentioned Opera Mini is a much smoother and more efficient application to run right now if you need something quick that works. However I personally did not like the interface at all.

"installation was unsuccessful" message is a problem probably you have opera running in background or opera.exe was stuck
unistall -> reset -> install
good luck
problem with widgets in opera 9.5 beta2
widgets still run in memory when i close opera How to fix it
Why does the smaller keyboard come up by default and not the full qwerty? That's my only problem with 9.51b2.
Anyone know how to fix that? Also in build 2392, bbc.com always takes me to the mobile page but in 9.51b2 it takes me to the full BBC site (i like the full site).
Opera Mobile 9.5 downloaded from Opera's web site contains known problems listed on the download page. The "Text wraps in overview mode" and soft keyboard problem is the main reason I'm not using it.
Anyway, Opera v9.5 Build 2392 does not have the problem listed on Opera's web site and I'm happy with it.
herg62123 released Build 2745 in the 2D Manila package and someone uploaded it to http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PASJ6BX2. This is the upgrade version. Just extract the 2 files inside the RAR to your device's Windows folder. With this version, some sites which are displayed incorrectly with Build 2392 are corrected.

Build 2745 still redirects to BBC mobile instead of the full site. I give up i guess. Until the keyboard issue in 9.51b2 is resolved i'll stick with 2745 then.
Slightly related, the Sprint Powerdeck homepage doesn't recognise my phone type anymore, calls it Unknown Device.
