No connection Myguide 3100
Hi there,
even if I am pretty new posting in this Forum. I came so often across these board, when I was looking for solutions. Therefore I consider you guys here as my last chance. I have here a Myguide 3100 from a friend, where I tried to make the desktop free and install iGO8. However I made a serious mistake when I renamed the device.exe in the init file of the registry. Now, if the systems comes up, it shows me that the service.exe has crashed. I've tried to restart device.exe and service.exe manually in the explorer many times but without sucess. The result of crashed service.exe is
1. No PC connection, neither via activesync, nor other. The Computer identifies myguide only as unknown hardware.
2. SD Card not recocnized in system, I can only see internal Flash.
Both means that this piece of electronic has absolute no connection.
Here my questions:
1. This device has normally no Hardreset function, is there any trick to make a Hardreset (I already removed AKKU for a night without success)
2. Or ist there any way to go into the registry, without PC connection, only with onboard possibilities?
3. Or last but not least, is there any trick to get PC connection working, even if it is not activesync, but only, let's say as a hardrive to bring a registry explorer to the flash ROM.
Thanks for help!

Possible Stupid Question. Lost USB connectivity.

Hi folks.
My Tornado (imate sp5) was flashed from factory WM5 to WM6 with VJ Grace 3.3, it worked just fine. One day I lost conenctivity via activesync over the usb cable. BT activesync still works fine. I had not done anything to the connecter port other than using USB cable to activesync occasionally, and to use the wall charger.
After 2 months of going like this, I decided to upgrade to a newer Nitrogen ROM, and I enter the bootloader mode by pressig the camera button and plugging in the usb cable. The three color screen comes just fine.
Now, when I attach the USB cable, I do not see the small writing "USB" at the lower left hand corner.
Also I cannot connect it with Terraterm pro or the RUU utility, says phone is not connected via the USB.
But my usb cable still charges the phone when connected to the PC, even though activesync doesnt do anything.
Is there anything I can do?
Can it be a hardware error? Or a registry change I might have done using smarttweaks (enable/disable charging over usb-- I dont remember). If so can it be restored or undone?
I tried hard resets (clear storage and leftsoftkey/rightsoftkey/powerbutton combinations), but still it doesnt recognise activesync.
My other windows mobile devices get connected to same pc activesync with no problem, using the same data cable. Heck I even repaired by reflashing a friend's Wizard using the same pc and cable last week.
Is it possible that my tornado's usb connector port might have gone poof (it still charges the phone), and is there any remedy to that?
Thanks for reading, and please help..
Regards,
Steve
I've got the same problem. I can't connect via AS:/
I had a similar problem once in a while when I upgraded my phone to WM6; it seemed almost random. One day, the phone wouldn't switch out of Vibrate mode, and ActiveSync wouldn't synch with the phone. The first time it happened, I had VJGrace's 3.3, and 3.4 had just come out, so I went ahead and flashed it. I didn't format binfs or anything (which, in my experience isn't necessary for a functioning OS flash, just a clean one) but it flashed a fresh WM6 on, and the problem went away.
Then, a couple weeks later, I had the same problem again. It was right around the time that VJ's 3.7 came out, so I flashed that (again without format binfs) and it fixed the problem again.
Then, a couple weeks later, I had the same problem yet again. This time, Nitro's Platinum Edition had just come out, so I flashed it. Haven't had the problem again.
Interesting note - since I got my Tornado, my first Smartphone, I have only ever done the format binfs once - the first time I flashed WM6. Haven't done it since. It's my opinion that format binfs gives you a CLEAN install of WinMobile, but is not strictly necessary.
So, to summarize: try direct-flashing a new WM6 install. Just plug in the USB cable - ignore ActiveSync when it fails to synchronize - and run the updater program. It'll take care of the rest, even if AS doesn't synch.

If you lost USB connectivity, how did you flash your phone?
Should I read between the lines that the bootloader connected properly and that it was a WM6 driver problem?

To be totally honest, I'm not 100% certain. See, ActiveSync wouldn't SYNCH with the phone, but I could still "Explore" the phone. WM6 was active and working, and charged via USB cable, it just wouldn't synch.
So, after I connected the USB cable and ActiveSync popped up a message that said it couldn't synchronize with the phone, I just started up the ROMUpdateUtility program. It rebooted the phone into the bootloader for me.
I honestly never tried to start it back up in bootloader mode. The only reason I decided to just flash a new ROM was because I had already downloaded the ROM, but where I was at the time, I had no internet access (and therefore couldn't remember the steps before flashing the new ROM.) A friend of mine who has a Wizard (and who, I think, might be a member of this forum) suggested that I didn't *have* to format binfs to put an updated ROM on the phone, so I said screw it. I needed it out of Vibrate mode (my phone is my second alarm - my second line of defense against oversleeping) so I flashed the new ROM.
ninja edit: If ccpraveen is getting *nothing* when he connects the USB, then my suggestion probably won't help. But if Windows recognizes something being connected, and he can *explore* the phone, but ActiveSync just won't synchronize, then he's probably having the same problem I was. I can't tell for sure from reading his post.
Sweet...
Thanks for the comments, its all dejavu again
Djsleepwalker's comments did make me wonder, hey this is exactly my problem, except that mine doesnt connect in any manner.
Lots of similarities, problems started with VJ 3.3, on and off for a while with USB, then totally lost connection.
I am not concerned with formatting BINFS now, I somehow want to get the phone recognized.
Exitao has actually asked a VERY VALID query. It is indeed impossible to flash a phone without any USB connectivity (unless via an SD image or something). Djsleepwalker's issue was minimal, only that the PC was not showing up the activesync as connected, but indeed there WAS a connection, he could explore the phone from the pc etc, and I bet if he did go into the 3 color screen, he would have seen the "USB" on the left lower portion.
So, mine is just that. No connectivity. Nada. PC just sits dumb. Phone just gets charged, and finally into the fully charged green LED. Thats it.
Could there be something in VJ's ROM that is doing this?
I wonder, because a Wizard I once tried to repair would not let me flash upgrade either. I had to go back to a basic BUTTON ROM to get the upgrades running properly again. But there atleast I had connectivity then.
After I read DJ's comments, I tried running the RUU straight, without getting into the bootloader (for a change). Again its the same error 260. Here is a screenshot.
Anybody?

It seems, from the description, that the activesync profile became corrupt.
Deleting any device profiles from Activesync and connecting the phone as a new device might also solve the problem. However, it might be active synch on the phone that is the problem...
Anyone unsure how serious their problem is should just turn off the USB connect in activesync, start the phone into boot loader and do an "info 2" with terraterm pro.
If terraterm discovers the device, the USB is not the problem. It's activesynch.
Terraterm pro would not connect either.
I started the phone into bootloader by plugging in the usb while keeping the camera button pressed. Started the terraterm pro, selected Serial > USB, clicked Ok, Terraterm says ERROR, Cannot Open.
One minor thing, what do ppl normally see in their bootscreens? I see these lines, Tornado IPL 2.00 Tornado SPL 2.00.0000 and another line Tornado IU.
I dont remember seeing this third line saying Tornado IU before. Is it normal? It is in the middle zone( green coloured zone).
I believe my usb connector port might have a physical error. What else it could be. PC just will not detect ANY sort of USB connection.
Thanks again Exitao, I am stumped.

Steve
Have you tried any other USB ports on your computer? I know it's a longshot, but on my desktop PC one of the onboard USB ports just doesn't function at all. The other three do.
ninja edit: Maybe try it on another computer, too?
I tried on all four USB ports of my laptop, as well as on another Desktop PC I have.
Even without activesync installed, plugging in this should bring out a DING, saying something has been connected to the PC USB. (and asking for drivers, if Activesync was not installed. Here nothing happens, no DING). Remember, the same USB port is being used to sync my Wizard, Blackjack 2 and my old Himalaya even now.
Another possible reason, I was using a dumb chinese charger for charging the phone, after I lost the original one. Could that might have fried the usb pins?

Please excuse me if I'm stating the obvious, or if I'm a bit off, as I don't haven't used my Tornado in a bit (upgraded to Touch Cruise), but in the last ROM I used, NitroGen's latest WM6 version, there was an option in settings to disable usb connectivity and only allow USB charging. Perhaps VJ's ROM has the same option and you activated it. Have you already checked this?
Did you remeber to uncheck "Alllow USB connections" in activesync before you connected the boot-loaded phone?
This may be a hardware problem. Is it possible to use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or debris from the USB socket on the phone?
Do you have WMStorage on your phone? If not, can you load it onto your storage card and install/run the app and see if the PC will recognise your device as a USB mass storage device?
I guess you also want to check the Device Manager in Windows and check for any exclamaition marks (!) or "bangs." Both with the phone disconnected and connected, and maybe even with wmstorage enabled. If it does show your phone in the device manager, delete or remove the device in the manager and reboot.
(To get to device manager, you can right click on "my computer" and select "properties", or press the Windows key and the Pause/Break key, or go to the control panel applet.)
BTW: is this XP?
If you are using Vista, try the following:
Step 1: Press Start
Step 2: Select settings
Step 3: Select (6) Connections
Step 4: Select (0) More
Step 5: Select (1) USB to PC
Changing the type of USB connection your device uses can help with problems
connecting ActiveSync.
Step 6: Disable the option - Enable advanced network functionality
Step 7: Press done 3 times
Step 8: Return to main screen.
Step 9: Uninstall unrecognized USB device in device manager (on PC)
Step 10: reboot Phone and reconnect

If XP, keep going...
You've stated that the PC is recognising your other devices. Isn't there a limit to the number of windows mobile devices you can sync or associate with one installation of activesync? Can you delete a device and try again?
Is USB charging enabled or disabled in your phone? Try toggling the setting to opposite whatever it is.
If you are using a firewall app, add these programs to your firewall's exemptions:
# Wcesmgr.exe
# Wcescomm.exe
# Rapimgr.exe
Or simply disable any firewalls, network traffic optimisers or possibly antivirus (some have network protections) app to test if that has an effect.
Ok guys..
I will try doing all these, step by step and lets see
And accept my sincere gratitude from my heart for detailing all these info for me, I am soo deeply moved

No need for thanx. If I helped, just give Nitro a donation on my behalf.
Well guys, with deep regret, I must say, even after trying all that, the phone stays put. PC wont recognise it, neither as a phone nor as a mass storage device. The connector port must have gone kaput.
I kinda feel stupid, u know, with all the tweaks and hacks out there, what use it is, if the dumb thing wont be recognised? Hmm.. So much for the tornado, now stuck at VJ 3.3 (unless someone find a way to flash via an SD image or something).
Well, thanks guys, your support did make me feel better, in the WM world, all is not lost, as long as there are good souls like you, willing to help, live and let live.
Regards
Steve.
PS: If the phone was not recognised in the bootloader mode, (ie even before the operating system has kicked in), I guess there should not be any difference if activesync was installed or not; and if or not mass storage option is enabled or not, right? Well, correct me if I am wrong, I think so. Could be wrong.
This is probably a useless comment, but have you tried using bluetooth instead of usb to connect to your computer?
Have u tried to delete the network card from XP device manager ?
U can also disable advanced network functionnality from your smartphone in "settings" -> "connections" -> "USB to PC"
Good luck
Can You Tried Different Usb Cable :d

LG Incite CT810 - Problem with USB

So I got my shiny new LG Incite at Best Buy yesterday. I knew I was getting it a while ago, so I downloaded a bunch of games and apps to load it up with as soon as possible. I get home from the store, play around with it and let it charge for a while, then I try to connect it to my computer (After installing ActiveSync 4.5 from the included disk, as well as both of the USB drivers on the disk). Windows comes up with that "found new hardware" stuff and asks where to look for the driver to install. I tell it to look on the CD, as well as the directories where the USB drivers from the disk were installed. It looks like it's working at first, but then I get this error:
(Error: "The data is invalid.")
Then it gives me the message balloon about how there was an error during installation and my new hardware may not work properly, etc. Now when I go to Device Manager, a number of things showed up with that little yellow exclamation point that I'm pretty sure were not there before, but I could be wrong:
- IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers: VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
- Network Adapters: Unknown device, WAN miniport (L2TP), WAN miniport (Network Monitor), and Windows Mobile-based Device
- Ports (COM & LPT): Communications Port (COM1)
So I tried reinstalling the drivers from a link I found in a thread on these boards (after clicking uninstall for "Windows Mobile-based Device" and having it tell me that the device is necessary to boot up the computer), but the same thing keeps happening. I also tried having ActiveSync scan for devices, but it never finds anything (Just says that USB is "available").
Please help, I really want to start putting pictures, music, and all that good stuff on my brand new phone
(btw, I'm pretty sure the problem is with the software/drivers on the computer, because when I plug in the USB cable the phone starts to charge. Other than that, nothing happens on the phone.)
If at all possible, I would try using the phone with another computer. For quite some time I was only able to sync data with my laptop and not my desktop, so I knew it was a software issue and not the phone itself.
would say it's down to
dead activesync install and no uninstalling it is not enough one have
to remove all traces of it in registry too
and it could also be an issue with usb drviers for the motherboard

Well, I'm not going to have another computer until September at least, so I really want to get it working on this computer, but I guess I could test it out on a friend's pc to see if my computer is the problem.

Know of any links or tutorials that would tell me all of the registry entries I'd have to remove?
(Sorry for the double post, but no one was replying...)
So I found my bluetooth adapter for my PC, and after I installed the proper software I could connect to my phone no problem. After that, I just used the bluetooth adapter's software to transfer files to my phone via FTP. (ActiveSync still just sat there, even when I set my phone to sync with bluetooth instead of USB, and I allowed wireless connections in ActiveSync)
So I'm glad I can finally transfer files, but I still want to get USB working. No one has any ideas at all?
(Triple post... sorry)
Ok, something happened to the bluetooth drivers and software now. I turned my computer off for the night after using bluetooth to transfer files to my phone, but when I turned on my pc today and clicked the shortcut to start the bluetooth software, I got a message saying that the program the shortcut was linking to no longer existed. Sure enough, the folder was gone from my Program Files directory. Now, every time I try to reinstall it, I get an error 183 that installation was interrupted.
So now I'm back to having no means of transferring files to my phone.
Please, any suggestions at all will be helpful to me at this point. I'm at my wits end!
Any progress on this?
I have a similar problem. I think usb sync worked on my laptop at one point, but hasn't for at least a week.
I was able to fix the problem at least temporarily by disconnecting the device, deleting it from ActiveSync and reconnecting. ActiveSync happily added it back and resynced everything. Now I can install the new Xcite ROM.
Still nothing...
Now my computer doesn't do anything at all when I plug my phone in, not even make a noise or ask about drivers. My phone, however, still recognizes that it's plugged in.
At least I got bluetooth working again, but still, USB would be nice.
It's hard to believe that out of every member on this forum, no one has even the slightest idea of where to start...
Menu - settings - connections - USB to PC.
Uncheck Enable advanced ...
OK TO ALL AND READY

Fuze not recognized on USB even after reflash and other phone is recognized

I'm not sure where to put this so I'll put it here. I have a Fuze running the October 4 TAEL rom. Since I played with Exchange settings for Activesync, it won't sync. I first tried my Tilt which is recognized and syncs happily. I then tried to replace the serialusbfb.dll file but couldn't replace or remove the exisitng file. Some posts suggested to use Total Commander but it couldn't remove, replace or rename the file. SoI did a hard reset and that made no difference and then reflashed it from a formetted SD card, with the same 4-oct-09 TAEL rom. Same thing.
There no sign of abuse, or loose jacks, or so on, and I've tried two computers (a desktop and a laptop) and both are happy with the old Tilt and both are unhappy with the Fuze. It charges happily, etc.
Any suggestions? Can it be synched by BT if there is a hardware problem? How can I tell if there is a hardware problem?
This might fix ur problem:
1) Go to your "USB Settings"
- For me its Start->Settings->System->USB Settings but i have EnergyROM
2) Under "ActiveSync" uncheck the box that says "Enable faster data connections"
3) Plug in USB cable..
changing USB settings made no difference
any other suggestions? Anyone know how to replace the serialusbfn.dll when it seems to be in use? Can BT be used to sync?
can bluetooth be used to create pairing for the first time?
My Fuze won't sync and give USB device not recognized errors and I can't seem to replace the serialusbfn.dll because it is in use, and after flashing the phone to attempt to replace the dll, I have no pairings in activesync. The instructions I see for using BT seem to require first making the pairing on USB and then going to BT.
Any advice on getting the USB working or BT to create a pairing?
Bob does it simply have problems linking through usb? I blew on the connector and on where it hooks on the phone and it worked. Figure out a way to clean the slot on the phone because it may be junk and oxidation that may provide a bad connection.
it charges but is not recognized
contacts are nice and clean: the phone is only 4 months old and is in good condition.

Usb wont connect

The first week I had my fuze i connected it to my cmputer multiple times. I connnected through active sync and through the memory card in my phone now when in plug it in on the same computer all it does is charge it doesnt show anything is connected or even attempting to connect. I reinstalled activesync, turned off firewall both didnt work. I prefer not to hard reset but if thats what it takes.... Any Ideas?
Partnership
I think I have had this problem before, you may want to try deleting the Activesync partnership from both the phone and the computer, then set it up again.
Good luck
if i delete activsync from the phone how do i reinstall it?
Noooooo
I didn't mean delete the actual Activesync application, just the partnership with the computer.
select manually from settings-connections-usb activesync and then connect wire, then disconnect and set it to storage and connect wire again. The point is to change the purpose of the usb manually between physical connections
i cant use my sd card
hy i`m new in android community... i`ve instaled xdandroid on my htc touch pro raphael 100 . almost everything is fine unless my connection with pc. i pair my phone with pc i`ve instaled the adb driver and sdk manager... my pc still don recognize the sd card... if i switch my phone on wm pc and sd card work fine... hope someone cand find a sollution 'cuz i done all i know this proble beat me. thx a lot !

Problems with USB-Host at HTC HD2 WM6.5 stock 3.14

Hello.
I'm sorry for the poor English, but I have a question.
Can you tell me how to set USB-Host at HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 stock 3.14 to connect Fat32 USB-Flash-Drive correctly?
I soldered the following cable (cable scheme 1):
Cable Scheme 1
And installed everything from DFT_LEO_USBH_WM65.rar which I downloaded from here: DFT LEO USBH WM65 at forum.xda-developers.com. I restarted my smartphone.
I setted the phone to USB-Host Mode in the program and tried to connect the first Fat32 Flash-Drive which contains many folders and files. The phone detected the Flash-Drive as Hard Drive. I opened it with Total Commander (TC), but there was no any file at the flash-drive and TC stopped responding.
I restarted the phone and tried to connect the second Flash-Drive which contains only one mp3-file. The Flash-Drive was detected again, I opened it with TC, saw my file, but TC stopped responding again. And I noticed that Hard Disk disappeared from Explorer (It seems the phone disconnected (unmount) the Flash-Drive, we lose it).
I restarted the smartphone and tried to connect the second Flash-Drive again, but the phone didn't detect it (I didn't see it in Explorer). No one Flash-Drive (had been) detected, no more. But these Flash-Drives works at my laptop very well.
I Hard Resetted my HD2, installed everything again, setted to USB-Host and tried to connect the second USB-Flash again. It started flashing lights, but didn't want to be detected by my phone. It stopped flashing lights after some time and now it don't want even to flash.
I tried to Hard Reset again, but it didn't solve the problem.
I thought that the phone uses too much energy while charging and it's not enough energy for Flash-Drive. I changed cable scheme to the following (cable scheme 2):
Cable Scheme 2
But it didn't solved the problem. Sometimes Flash-Drives flashing lights (for a short while) and nothing more.
It looks like this:
View 1
View 2
I even tried to install Zeno USB Host Drivers... But it didn't solve the problem.
What's wrong I do? Why it worked more or less at the first time (but disconnected Flash-Drive after a short while)? And why it doesn't work now? The cable soldered correctly and very well...
Thanks in advance.
