Wi-fi not turning on in my T-mobile MDA doesn't work after ROM upgrade! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi,
i am having T-mobile MDA brought from US by my brother. recently i upgraded to WM5 2.26 and suddenly found that my wi-fi not turning on after the upgrade. when i switc it on, it tries to switch on for seconds and suddenly switches off. i am able to see the wi-fi adapter SDIO WLAN wireless adapter in the list of network cards available. but even trying for many options of changing the settings for this, i am unable to switch on the wi-fi(WLAN) in the COMM manager. i have tried upgrading to wm6 professional(TNT_5.0_Wizard_TouchFLO) got from this site. no use. It is still not turning on. I have tried hard resetting and other stuffs. no clue. All other operations seem to work fine.
Please any one help me to correct this.
My MDA config:
ipl 2.26
spl 2.26
gsm 2.47.11
os 6.0.0.0
Thanks in advance,
VM Karthik Kumar

I noticed the same problem and all I simply had to do was turn the wifi on again and it stayed. Not a solution but it's what worked. Hope it helps.

yeah same here but also tried hard reset and used to start via creating a shortcut made by me from windows directory.it worked but com manager wont work otherwise

I had alot of problems with WIFI, I had to turn it on then off then on again for it to work. Then I found this file to replace a DLL and it works great!
Just copy the DLL file to your windows folder then do a soft reset.

Will try and come back!
Hi guys thanks for the solutions. I have already tried all the options available in this forum for wi-fi,
Joe! let me try copying the dll you have attached to my mobile and see what happens.
will come back with the updates.(Hope to get resolved)
Thanks for all the guys in help.

it did not help! problem still persists!
Hi,
i tried installing the wifi fix in my mda and have done soft reset and still found wi-fi not turning on. I have even switched the MDA off and restarted again and tested. it doesn't work.
Any other option to solve this.
Also i am not able to see any mac address or other settings in wi-fi settings. everything is empty. i can't key in any ips too.
Help me if possible...

my Wifi wouldn't turn on in the last couple of days. I found that it was because I set up overclocking with omapclock plus.

Trouble with WM6, Internet Explorer Connection

Hello,
I have trouble to get my internet connection work. Normally i go to Start->Settings->Connections->Connections and rightclick on the existing connection.. Then my PDA connects. But after upgrading to WM6 my PDA does nothing.. I tried to execute welcome.exe again ( maybe two missing files) but this didn't work for me...The Settings for the connection are the same as i have used with WM5.
Pleaaase help me ? anybody?
Thanx
I found that if I have GPRS running with the Smart1 Rom, and I then disconnect it, I can only get it to reconnect by either soft-resetting the phone or toggling flight mode on and off. Did you hard reset your prophet after flashing the WM6 ROM?
WM6, Ie, GPRS
Yes, i made hard resets for several times now, but the internet connection doessn't work. Maybe a language problem?

Do you guys only get a "x" at the GPRS icon? I have run cabs to install network setting of my carrier correctly, but still unable to connect to the internet via GPRS. no matter using IE or MSN or or Worldmate
Nope.. My Device doesn't do anything at all. Normally i would get this message that my device is connecting. but i do not even get an error message. The same situation when i try to send/receive Emails...
???! quite annoying..'cause my settings ( proxy, Accesspointname etc. is 100% correct, because this are the settings that would work for WM5..

This is the same situation that I mentioned. Don't know how to fix on this Smart1 NEW rom v1.
So it seems to be a Bug.. I hope it will be fixed in further release. I am wondering that nobody else have this problem ?? I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023, so i guess that my Network (O2) does not have a 100% functionallity..
Additionally i' ve tried the AKU 3.3 ASERG Rom. Here the Inet Connection works, but the ROm doesn't have this Look&Feel of WM6.. The Today Skin is like on WM5 ...maybe this can be improved?

My wifi comes back ON automatically, why?

Hi all, once I turn OFF wifi on my SP5m, it sometimes comes back ON automatically, even though all my "internet applications" are shutdown/closed. It's as if an internet connection would still be needed somewhere on the phone?!... but once I turn it OFF again, it stays OFF this time! Why would it do that? How can I make sure it stays OFF once I actually turn it OFF?
Thanks all
highmighty
May be a bug? or a Feature ??
* Double check for all application shutdown
* Go on Comm Manager and disable it, wait for LCD go off now return on Comm Manager and check if wifi is on, than turn it off
I'm using bundled CeleTask to close all tasks and stop wifi, work, may be some time need to turn off wifi 2 times, (after the lcd turns on)
FYI, I'm using WM6 (perfect edition) and to me it looks like a bug, anyone else has this? It's very annoying cause I always have to double-check that wifi is OFF when i put my phone away... otherwise, it reconnects to my wifi network and drains my battery
Same over here
same here as well
but even before i flashed my dopod577w with imate sp5 rom i already experienced that problem
I have the same problem. SDA flashed w/imate
I do face that problem using AKU2 , sometimes
so does that mean it!s a known issue for both wm5 and wmó? anyone knows more about it? someone is working on a fix? thanks all
highmighty
This has plagued the SP5m in every firmware version I tried, except the factory one, and also in wm6.
Same thing on my qtek 8310 with any firmware. Always have to close Wifi two times.
I have a T-mobile SDA with its stock rom and it has the same problem. I think why the problem is happening is something to do with the setting that turns off wifi automatically to save power.
I have not experimented with it, but I think if you turn off the setting, you shouldn't have any problems anymore.

GPRS stopped working...

Hi!
My GPRS on my HTC S710 stopped working after flashing to Dr. Gonzo's eminent 6.1 ROM.
I get the message "The remote party has ended this connection".
I have my operators correct connection settings.
I have to admit that I missed that I should upgrade to latest original ROM prior to doing the whole Dr. Gonzo procedure.
So my GPRS stopped working. It should be noted that everthing else works just fine. I'm able to sync with our Exchange server via USB and wireless.
I get the "G" symbol in the top of the window and sometimes the antenna reception bars include the "G".
So when I saw the problem I downloaded the latest original HTC ROM (RUU_Vox_HTC_NORDIC_1.34.402.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe).
I re-flashed my phone but even after installation of original ROM the problem still persist.
I re-flashed once using ActiveSync and once by removing/replacing battery on phone and holding in Camera button while connecting USB cable.
What more can I do?
My HTC S710 had the following version when it worked. Before I started tinkering with it.
1.15.402.4
Does the SIM card being in the phone effect the flashing?
Thanx in advance!
/Richard

It seems that you don't have the correct connection settings, there is the problem.
Try to find or change this settings.
@Matrix77
I have verified the connection settings with my operator and they are as they should.
I had quite similar problem. Inmy case - the problem was in connection settings. I recommend to remove DNS and WINDS IP address from configuration. There was my problem. After this setting my GPRS connection started to work properly. Using WM 6.1 made by Gonzo and T-Mobile Slovakia as network operator.
Figured it out.
Apparently my SIM card partly died at the same time as I upgraded.
Don't think the issue had to do with the upgrading. Rather me pulling the card in and out.
I tried with another card and it worked fine.
So now I'm a happy camper again.
Thank You for your input.

HTC S170 - WLAN Issue.....

Hi.
Yesterday I acquired a SPV E650 from my mother, and the first thing I set about doing was to flash it, so I followed this GUIDE and now have the HTC ROM on my phone. After numerous attempts, using different settings, trying to connect to my Netgear DG934G router, I was still unable to connect.
After scouring the net looking for a solution, I found a wireless profiles cab, which apparently would help because it allows to turn DHCP on, which there is a setting for, is now turned on, but still no avail.
Another issue I have found, is that after entering the correct network key, if I go back to the setting, the key has doubled in length, which is probably the issue, but I can't stop it from doing it, any suggestions?
EDIT
Thanks in advanced!

universal and wifi

hi everybody! finally i got this wonderful mobile phone! i'm just disappointed by the fact i can't connect to any wireless network... not even mine, which is proprly configured... i can obtain the list of all the networks, i see if they are free, if they are encrypted and so on, but when i try to connect to mine or the free ones appears "connecting..." and then it skips this connection and try with the following one... how comes it does so? i tried with different versions of OSs but it's always the same issue... i also disassembled it and everything is it its place... can anyone help me please? thanks
Welcome to forums
Yes, you have one of the best devices ever made!
Try a hard reset or reflash another ROM
Here instructions:

Good luck,
already tried, but nothing... i tried to use the tomal one, the italian one and the chinese one... but it's not working... do u have any idea why? in my opinion the hardware it's fine, as long as it can see the networks the wifi is working. but the software is not responsible because i tried 3 different roms and it's always the same... i really can't imagine where could be the cause...
Try to do A doc format
what do you mean?
EDIT: now i read about it, i already did it and i'm flashing right now!
EDIT 2: No, it's not working... always showing "connecting" but then just goes back to "available" status for the network, it just does not work...

OK one thing you should notice is Universal is only capable b class of wireless so.. and see what class of wifi modem you have and try to install following cab (which i got from Jonny) it should make it capable of wifi b and g and see if problem still presists try another wifi modem and still same then i suspect it might be hardware issue....
also, isn't the radio responsible for wifi connection? perhaps try a different radio?
mine is b/g both active... i'll try that rajivshahi!
@jonny: i both tried .18 and .15... should i try the previous ones?
EDIT: I tried installing that .cab, but it's not working... do i have to do something in particular after installing it? what do you mean by hardware issue? what could be wrong with it if i see the networks?

the cab just creates a some registry. so try to connect to other modem and see... if everything fail then it might be issue with uni's hardware... as if it was software issue flashing to another rom and another radio should fix it...
just a quick question.... does it connect to a open network or is it just the encrypted oneş.... i cant connect to any other than a WEP network...???
Try this (Configure Wireless Network, DON'T activate "This is a hidden network")

Maybe this will help:
In my case, after a hardreset, I cannot connect to a Wi-Fi Network until I do the following.
1.Turn on Wi-Fi--> when your network shows up, enter the Network key and hit "Connect". (Here is, where the device tries to connect, but does not! IS THIS YOUR CASE?)
2.Go to Wi-Fi-settings (through the Communications-Manager) --> push and hold your finger on your network to open the context menu --> select "edit".
3.At the "Configure Wireless Network" page make sure the check for "This is a hidden network" is NOT set! --> Hit "Next".
4.At the "Configure Network Authentication" choose for Authentication "WPA-PSK" and for Data Encryption: "TKIP". (Make sure the Network key is entered.) Hit "Next" and then "Finish."
Again your device will try connecting and (hopefully ) be successful!
Cheers,
mdajj

HTC-Universal
ROM: Tomal v10 WM6.5 Build 5.2.21872 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=573739)
RAM: 64MB
Radio: 1.18
Welcome aboard
Thanks for that tip, hope can solve the issues some members reported
the point is that i can't connect to open networks... now i don't have any encrypted networks i can access... and i tried to set the networks as not hidden, bit it's not working... mdajj got exactly what happens to me "hit "Connect": here is, where the device tries to connect, but does not!" and it shows directly "unavailable status for the network, while the router is on the same desk i am sitting in front of. T_T
now i start thinking that the uni can connect only to encrypted netwoks... how could it be? i bought it because of the opposite reason...
Wifi cannot connect if signal is too low.
Unmount the device, check the wifi/antenna connection and make sure that it is not getting touched with other assembly...
i already did it, and i checked again today, the antenna is fine it does not touch anything and its shape is perfect... BUT today i noticed something missing, i have no idea why i never noticed before... the conductive tapes are missing, but even if they were in place, they'd not touch the antenna, so i guess it's not a problem... am i right?
wifi connection problems
Can I suggest a non technical approach. I also had a lot of problems with wifi a couple of years ago, it turned out to be the BATTERY I had a noname battery from Hong Kong that I think just wasn't generating enough power. The phone and everything seemed to work fine except for wifi. When I replaced the battery wifi suddenly worked perfectly. If you know anyone else with a Uni that works on wifi swap the battery and give it a try.
i also thought about that, but even when the power supply is connected to the phone wifi does not work... and then i have 2 batteries, one is not original, Yaobao brand, and the other one seems to be original, but with both does not work... [both 1620mAh]
Thinking about this, I don't know whether this is relavent, or simply an earth... but the original battery has metal case (or partially), which has a contact pressed to it when inserted in Uni. I have replacement batteries with solely plastic cases, so the contact isn't made. This doesn't affect my wifi, but it's just a thought.
yea, u r right, i did not noticed before... i have both kind of batteries, with one it makes contact, with the other it doesn't... and it's still not working! by the way thanks for the help!

Blow some hot air around the board (if you have a hot-air-station). This is the last thing you can try.
