which radio has proper GPS cold fix? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

With the Kaiser, the quality of internal GPS reception (dilution of position) and cold fix time (time to fix without previous fix in last 4 days) depends on the Radio, not the ROM.
The only 2 radios I found so far that are able to process data dowloaded with quickGPS properly in order to deliver a cold fix within 20s on clear sky, and further a DOP of 1.5 or even less, are:
Original radio: 1.27.12.17 - works only on WM60
Niki rado: 1.58.11.07 - works on some WM61
Why don't the others process quick GPS data properly?
When will HTC finally give up the Qualcom GPS and switch back to Sirf III (4s cold fix on Eten devices)?
Did anyone successfully get 20s or less cold fix with other radios?

Try any 1.65.XX.XX radio
They seem to get a really good GPS fix in under a minute.

I'm currently on 1.65.16.25 and this one gives me a fix within 10 secs.

This is weird. Maybe I got different kaiser )) but main takes about 3 minutes with that radio. And 1.27.12.17 within 20 secs

Please differentiate between COLD and WARM fix:
COLD FIX means you just flashed your ROM and Radio, or you did not use your GPS for 4 Days.
Warm Fix means you just used it in the last minutes or hours.
Note that the Quick GPS function is designed to provide for less than 20 s COLD FIX, and instant warm fix.
None of the radios apart from those I listed properly feed data from Quick GPS software in order to deliver a true quick fix.

I meant cold fix in both cases
!!!!!Updated!!!!!
It's really weird, now I put Polish official rom 3.29.464.0 with same radio as WWE 1.65.16.25 and it works very quick. Similar to 1.27.12.17
Fix takes about 30 secs.

WinMo 6.1 - OEM / Custom Rom GPS Issues: Survey

Windows Mobile 6.1 Only
Thought of starting this thread to get an idea of GPS performance on OEM and Custom ROMS with different radios. According to most threads and my personal experience the GPS performance is sub-par on 6.1 and highly unreliable. It would be great if I can get some feedback on the following:
1. ROM Version
2. Radio
3. Time for Cold Fix
4. Time for Hot Fix
5. QuickGPS Version
I think this thread would help lot of members who rely on GPS navigation on a day to day basis to make up their mind on ROM/Radio combo - specially me.
Thanks.

So you are back on 6.0 permanently? I have been debating on this for over a week now
Have a look at this link - no real answer to this issue but possibly one of the recomendations will work for you

Thanks for the detailed feedback.
If you don't mind me asking are the above results constants or random. I am wondering whether this odd behavior is device or device/radio/rom related. Some don't have this issue at all and some do. Beats me.
It's all very bizarre, I've been watching posts on this for weeks trying to see some kind of pattern, but there just doesn't seem to be one. Some people have serious problems (like me), others have perfect GPS, but not one of them seems to be on quite the same combination of ROM/radio/SPL etc - or rather those that are seem to be split randomnly between the two camps.
It's a very frustrating topic to get into, because you'll inevitably get people telling you the problem doesn't exist (because they've not seen it) or offer some magic bullet that just doesn't work.
For the record I'm using the stock HTC WWE 6.1 rom/radio. Whenever I try to get a lock just walking down the street, or on the bus, it can take up to 20 minutes at times. The other weekend I was actually using it in anger on a roadtrip, relying on it for directions, and it worked brilliantly for two solid days, with lock times mostly under a minute. It just doesn't make any sense. I'd say it was unreliable, but when I actually did need to rely on it, it came through.
1. ROM Based on HTC Official 3.29.707.0
2. Radio 1.65.20.29
3. ColdFix - 20-seconds - (you mean following a soft-reset right?)
4. HotFix - 2-seconds - (hotfix is when you have closed down your GPS App (TomTom in my case) and then restarted it but haven't soft-reset the device right?)
I am counting from after TomTom starts and immediately when it begins to talk to the GPS module (if you go to the GPS Status screen it initially says 'No GPS device!', then a couple of seconds later the little yellow/black circular symbol begins to flash and it says 'Poor GPS reception' - this is when I am timing it from from).

Agreed 100%.
Just when I tell myself it's working the problem starts again. I used to be so content with the 6.0 GPS performance.
Furthermore, I think the device plays a major role as well. There is no reason for 2 identical phones having stock rom updates to spit out two different GPS lock times. Although I complain about mine the longest lock time for me have been 3 minutes.

I have just tested this again, just to verify...
Soft-reset, wait a couple of minutes for Kaiser to settle down and then start TomTom and open the GPS Status screen, wait for 'Poor GPS reception' to appear and start timing..
1. Cold-Fix this time was 28-seconds.
2. Hot-Fix this time was 6-seconds.
Still quite good though
I am actually sat in the house with the Kaiser next to the window but it is quite a clear day.

Constant, give or take 1-2 seconds.
Edit-
To Boinng,
Although I have little issue getting GPS reception, I must say that when I was running Garmin's ROM, and one of Dutty's (don't remember which one of the 1000's), my GPS signal was great, but my software performed really poorly; sometimes only updating in 1 mile increments.
TT7 vs. TT6???
I seem to be getting much slower starts since I converted to TT7. I tried this morning and after 5 minutes, just ended up resetting my quick GPS and then it took about 45 secs.. I've done the change to "other NMEA . . . " and no consistent result.
I also have no idea why the radio would make a difference with this as I've always thought that only dictated your phone reception and that the GPS was in itself its own device. Any clarification would be appreciated.
Breakthrough?
I just posted this in another thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2393635#post2393635
Basically it looks like my own GPS performance has been improved substantially by switching from the 1.65.16.25 radio (the one which came with the original HTC 6.1 update) to the newer 1.65.17.56, which they seem to have quietly snuck out with a new version of the same ROM (the ROM itself is still 3.28.405 so I just used the radio only version someone posted).
I wouldn't say it was quite 6.0 level, but it's a lot closer, for me anyway.
I did have to install HardSPL 3.28 (to replace the stock HTC SPL 3.28) first before I could change radio, I suppose it's possible that had a bearing too?

I have tried this and it works sometimes but not constant - at least on my device. This bug is killing me. I rely on Navi almost everyday and would hate to go back to 6.0.
Also I have noticed that even hot fix times vary with 6.1.
With 6.0 I used to get hot fix under 15 sec. indoor all the time.
My question to all....
Although we blame OS, Radio and SPL can this symptom be device related too?
i am also in the same boat as most of you the GPS just plain sucks ass on my kasier no matter what the radio rom combination it seems. i use the application Seagate which is just like quickGPS and i also use quickGPS sometimes its super fast on cold starts sometimes its more than 25 minutes and i give up because of battery drain for nothing. i dont want to go back to 6.0 period so i hope we can all work on this and get things working properly. i wonder what .dll's are in control of the GPS and what parts of the radio rom also control the GPS that would be a good place to start and see what we can modify a little for better performance.
Using GPS Test:

2. New NEON 1.65.24.36 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406995
3. Time for Cold Fix- about 1 minute
4. Time for Hot Fix- <10 seconds
5. QuickGPS Version 1.00 (220.821)
6. AT&T in Central PA

It took a few SR's before the GPS and the new radio clicked, but it did make a huge diffrence here in AZ. I had the same 20+min (if ever) fixes on a cold start before and getting an indoor fix was a laugh, hot or cold. I just did an indoor hot fix in under 20 secs! Cold fix indoors is somewhat dependant on where, but after running visual GPS, no issues
Death V.4 plus the latest Kaiser (not neon) radio seems to be the charm for me, but maybe it IS handset/local specific.
I just wish the handset silencing issue was fixed, but I digress . . .
WM 6.1 HTC OEM official
OS 3.02.405.0 WWE
radio 1.58.26.20
coldfix -- about 1 minute
hotfix -- 5-6 seconds
I was surprised to have hotfix this fast. and the battery goes way longer than on 6.0.
great radio indeed.

[Q] Does Raphael have the same GPS lag as Diamond?

Hi guys,
I think the subject says it all...
I have a Diamond which suffers from serious GPS lag (not fix!). This means that when I'm driving, my car is always up to 50m ahead of what TomTom or IGO tells me that I am...
I'm thinking about changing my device as nobody seems to know the cause of this...
So, I wonder if Rapheal has the same issue or not...
HastaSSSS
Here's what i tested for you on the way to work...
Using TomTom6 (6.032), driving at 30mph, using the tip if the blue arrow as my position (same as i always used on TytnII) i would say my car was no more than 5m behind were i should be. No issue going down the right road or turn.
Same situation as johnk1973. No 50 meters lag, but aprox. 5 meters.
Same problem here on Raphael, TT7 is 50 meters behind. Will test it tonight if it also occurs with TT6.
Same here with tt7 and igo8....
Now this is going to get complicated....
I had Diamond before and NEVER experienced GPS lag.
I tried almost every official and cooked ROM and had no problems with GPS.
Recently I switched to Raphael....
And guess what... GPS lag !
I used my Diamond and Raphael in identical conditions, with the same app (iGO 8).
I'll try to test it more.
I'll post if I find anything useful to you.
Cheers,
Sh*t...that means Raphael is a "no go" for me...
Unless we solve the problem...whatever it might be...
Please keep on posting your findings about this issue...I like very much Diamond and Diamond Pro....but I'm not willing to have a device without 100% functionality...
HastaSSSS
I have a Touch Pro with iGo8 installed. I realised this "50m lag" on my business trip this Monday but I thought it was due to the speed of the car (I was driving very fast for the most of the time). Now I see the problem might be a little more complicated.
On the other hand the 50m is not so bad - I never had a wrong turn, the acoustic signalization of iGo8 is very good. Nevertheless, I would be glad if this could be fixed...
And another thing - I'm not sure if you are aware of the charging problem while using GPS. My Touch Pro actually stopped charging because of overheating and was running only on the battery. So be aware of this fact too.
But this is a different issue, I'm sure there is a thread for this.
I dont have the problem with TT6.
I second this issue, both with TT7 and IGO8 (haven't tried it with another one yet)
Guys I had GPS lag on TT7 when I fist used it (Only tried it for 5min) it was awful. Mainly everytime I turned a corner whilst driving.
Then I did the following changes:
\start\settings\system\external GPS -> Set GPS Program port COM4; Hardware NONE; Access Manage GPS automatically.
Hit ok, wait 10 secs, switch off the device and then soft reset.
Now go to TT7 change the GPS prefences, to use bluetooth device and selected COM4.
No my GPS is perfect now, no problems at all. Have tried it with two different ROMs and no problems.
I have TT7 installed on the main memory and the maps on an Sandisk 8GB Class 4 SDHC card.
Radio ROM is 1.02.25.19 if that helps? and AGPS is turned on a up-to-date.
BTW it was exactly the same when using google maps.
Did you also try it by just setting tomtom gps to bluetooth? I'll give that a shot anyway before going into the register... tnx for the tip
Please keep in mind that you'll get an update of your past position only once per second. This means: The faster your velocity the more inexact the position will be, because the distance you'll pass in this second becomes longer and longer:
@30kmph: ~8m
@50kmph: ~14m
@80kmph: ~22m
@100kmph: ~27m
@130kmph: ~36m
Additionally there is the inaccuracy which comes with GPS: In good times you may have ~10m divergence on average. But with weaker signal (which one may have driving in a city) it will become even more. So keep in mind that GPS will tell you, where you've been one second ago (plus the divergence).
By the time I get my Diamond Pro, I'll collate this at the same time with my X500, which has a build in Sirf3 receiver.
I am having a slightly different issue with my TP using iGuidance 4. Although the unit aquires a signal faster than any other device I have used in the past, it seems to lag or freeze as I drive. It will not update the time, speed or position unless I press a button or something on the screen. There is another thread on XDA (I think in the Diamond or Kaiser sections) that claims to have solved this issue, but the fix doesn't work on my Touch Pro (in fact it completely freezes my iGuidance requiring a soft reset).
Hi,
I'm using Ndrive and TomTom 7.
on NDrive I don't have any problem, it's fast.
on TomTom is slow..
I thing the problem is on TomTom using this GPS of Raphael.

Using Igo8 very intensively with my TP, no lag at all. Compared it this morning with my VW passat stock nav system, and again, i notice no lag.
I have the settings in the posts above, and have very little lag. I am using QuickGPS instead of AGPS, but all else is the same. My main probklem is how long it takes to get a lock (much longer than on my old Kaiser), but since installing DCS's ROM and doing a hard reset immediately after that does seem to have improved - I often get a lock from cold within a minute now..
Rowan
I believe the reason that some people are getting horrible GPS lag while others get nothing has to do with the Radio ROM versions that came installed with the device. Most custom ROMS don't update the Radio ROM. It's 12am and I'm posting this from my TP, so I'll just tell you that the Radio thread is stickied in the Raphael ROM dev forum.

[PROB] TouchPro GPS lag problems

A lot of people have problems with the TouchPro GPS especially for pedestrian use...
From stock the TP GPS is quite unsable in car especially with TomTom 7 and totally unusable for pedestrian use.
After 2 weeks of reading and testing tweaks, here are the results of my tests and the applied tweaks to enhance the GPS performance
A. With Advanced config 3.2 http://www.touchxperience.com/fr/ou...ads/9-advanced-configuration-tool-32-cab.html
1. disable A-GPS
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt
7. it seems that if TomTom is installed on a fast microSD decrease the lag(have to test to be sure)
With those changes car usage will be quite perfect
B. Then edit registry with TotalCommander http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
Under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\
- Drivers\GpsOneDevice\PollInterval -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Drivers\InputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\OutputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\SleepOnNoData -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize -> 512 (by default not present, you have to create it)
Tests to be done with buffers at 256...seems to be a little better
Tests to be done with other PollInterval value...seems to "drain" battery
With those tweaks pedestrian usage will be much better but not perfect...I explain.
You have to walk for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map (before that, speed is always 0km/h) and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...and the speed reflect reality
...BUT if you stops you have to walk again for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...
Very strange indeed...
I hope this will help people...please test and feedback.
PS : tests were done with

I noticed GPS problems yesterday with Route66. Havent have time to test GPS lot before, just checked that it can find satellites and really works with Route66.
First while driving, Route66 got fix to satellite pretty quickly, but drop it then after couple seconds. Then couple secods of lag, again found satellites, couple seconds ok, drops again. This keeps going over no matter what, moving or staying stopped.
I then did soft-reset, no help. Then tried Google Maps with GPS, that worked no prob. After using Google Maps I returned to Route66 and strangely satellite fix was ok...
This might be just random satellite fix problem, but strange enough

Many of us have/had that issue so I can confirm you Its a device issue, not a satellite situation. The registry tweaks minimize that problem but I hope HTC solves the problem in his next driver/radio rom/... and the users hasnt to tweak their devices (95% of the users probably will never read this forum and they dont know how to "tweak" their devices
Thanks for sharing. I 'll check it.
Thank you!
I applied all the patches, my TP still doesn't want to find the sattelites...
F.....g hell!!! I tried anything, and morning I've got a fix with 5 satellites in 20secs,so it looks nice(yesterday evening I did the tweaks). But after 4 hours it can see 1-2 satellites, sometimes 3,very rarely 4 under blue sky. So 2 hours of my travelling from city-to-city I didn't get a fix! Co do pici s tym je!!??(sorry for slovak lng,but I cannot speak it english, because so wrong words english language doesn't have). I bought an useless technology and HTC is rolling on the floor laughing, how the customer is stupid. F..k them all with their technologies. Another thing is wifi...no comment is better. I will maybe buy an crazy Eten with Sirf3 and HTC with their stupid Qualcomm can go to hell. For what are all the technologies here, when they are working <20% of time? I am so angry on HTC,so when my kind of device will appear,I will immediately sell the Raph.

for such an expensive device it is...
For those how have still problems
1. Hard reset
2. Applied the tweaks
3. Download last QuickGPS
4. Install TomTom
5. Have a little more patience...
Gook luck.

Did all that and the bloody phone is still not getting a fix on satellites...
I am confused in other way...
Why it does lock the satellites in 30seconds and it sees 8 sats.and few hours after it has problem with seeing 3 of them at the same place with same weather conditions? I believe, that tomorrow(when I will not needed to have the fix, anyway I will try it) will fix the satellites ASAP. Do the Raphael have a status-sensor,that knows,if I need it right now or not? That's my opinion, while it doesn't work, when I need it and works when I testing it...
I will s..t on whole GPS technology and I will trust the plain maps as before(unfortunately, that costs me some money/energy that I spend for that).
Totally amazing
This is just amazing. Thank you!
Now I get a fix in 10-15 seconds. Earlier it took several minutes... totally amazing...

tried this also and been driving around for almost an hour without results is that enough patience?
hmm, my gps was working normally, applied these patches and nothing changed..still working normally (no lags etc.)
Applied all the patches except one (I kept A-GPS on), and after testing with iGo it's working like a charm. With the latest QuickGPS data downloaded, it can still take - seconds to get a fix, but the positioning is accurate (no more 100-200m lag), the devices sees 4-6 satellites in the Belgian sky, and the navigation is finally usable on the Touch Pro. I'll make regular checks in the coming days and I'll report the results. Thanks for the tweaks!
With A-GPS enabled the GPS works great. I had it in my pocket with GPS tuner running while running in a forrest and he didn't lose my position and no lag. The problem: with A-GPS enabled TT7 loses the fix every second. Like 1 sec there is a fix, next there is not. And it keeps doing that. When I disable A-GPS it takes way longer to get a fix with TT7 but it holds the fix.
Tip: driving around makes it harder for the gps to get a fix.

hi, i recently bought htc touch pro & i am facing problem to download gps on my phone could someone help me regarding this matter step by step.

GPS problem with cooked roms

This is usual thread all over net..
I have problem, a big one... Every cooked rom I have tried works great but GPS dont work. Fix takes 15 - 20 min quickgps updates normaly but no fix... with original rom and quickgps updated fix is under 30sec but i have problem with touch screen on original ROM. so i have spend 15 days of experimenting, flashing various roms, radios but no luck....
interesting is that when i connect external gps antena with amplifier i get fix around 1 - 2min.... then it works with integrated, but 2 hours later same problem...
Kaiser130 is my device
tried roms: shifu v1 & v2 basic & full, Dutty's WM6.1, REV_ROM_V8, SimpleOsManila, AtheneOS....
also i have tried exporting registry branch from original rom for quickgps and copyed quickgps files over but no luck.
no luck
I have used almost all of these roms and my lock is in 2-3 minutes. 1st, make sure you are using the recommend radio. If you use the wrong Radio, you will never get a lock. Also make sure it is not just your area; if there are only a few sat's then the GPS module in the phone will take for ever for a lock.

C'Mon dude really... 3rd post and you come out dropping bombs like "every" and "it's the usual" and "a problem... a big one"
I have used many different ROMs here too and have not had a single issue with GPS working!
I think "every" and "usual" is disrespectful to the cooks here and that your issue is likely hardware (hence your comment about it working w/ an external ant) or possibly between the screen and the seat
have you tried gpstest to check your com ports and then set it manually?
I also had the same issues
already changed the com port and radio from 1.65.16.25 until 1.70.19.09 (KAISER Radio)
As u see raf1987 has same problem as me, yesterday I have tried original HTC WWE 6.1 rom but with same result.
I dont mean to disrespect cooks, and dont see what is problem with me having 3 posts??
k2rolla503 Yes I have tried gpstest, nonigps plot.... they find satelites but no fix 1 to 4 satelites all time but no fix.. signall strength is normal in all roms (graphicaly to me).
I too have the same problem.
I find the GPS fixes to be very flaky. I've used both the ROMs from Laurentius up through V10 and now using Phoenix II.3.
Laurentius ROMs I found I had much faster lock time if I downloaded the ephimeral file right before I used my GPS. We are talking 24 hours between uses. This could mean the difference between a 2 minute lock and a 20 minute lock. I've never gotten GPSTest to show me anything other than starting...
On Phoenix II.3, the ephimeral file only last for 3 days instead of 7 like Laurentius. Once I saw the fastest lock in my life ever on this ROM, it literally must have locked in 15-30 seconds. I have never seen it do that again. Currently it's taking me a good 10-20 minutes to lock on average. I have to start up my GPS 10 minutes before I go anywhere just to get it warmed up.
I've also tried fiddling with the assisted GPS setting on both ROMs. I found that with Laurentius the fix is slightly faster. On Phoenix I haven't noticed any real difference in getting a fix aGPS vs GPS. Nor do I find it assists in tunnels.
The only thing that really bothers me about aGPS is that I get that dialup connection dialog that says it fails to connect every time I use TomTom. I have to hit dismiss before it appears to start trying to get a fix. I've tried reapplying the connection settings for AT&T, that didn't seem to help much. It is super annoying.
In the end, GPS does work, but like the OP, I found that my fixes were consistently faster on the stock ROM than the cooked ROMs. I too mean no disrespect and I appreciate the hard work that goes in to each and every one of these ROMs even if I don't use them. I too like the OP just want my fix to be as fast as those claimed here and elsewhere. It can be frustrating to hear about these fast lock times and have to suffer with long lock times. It's especially annoying to me because I travel for business a lot and find that I am now nearly half way to my destination before I finally get a lock.
While I may not have many posts, I do follow these forums regularly. I hope that my input will be constructively used to find an answer if there is one to be found.
I have no issue using L26's TF3D V4, Athine OS Jan 22, Mbarvian Solace 1.5 and Josh' Revealed 21500. All has the GPS working fine. I'm not that particular that I measure individual response time.
As long as it locks within 1-2 mins (from nothing), it's ok to me.
hmm.... i think , i found the solution... don't know if it could work for others
now, I use PDA corner from Abusalza... with Radio version 1.70.xx.xx
so, after flashing your new rom... make sure you update the GPS support programs like quick gps , etc
then, execute your GPS program ( I use Garmin for this).. and make sure you are outside of your house, or apartment, or wherever..
the reason why my tytn II could not find satelites is because I did it in my house, did not think that outside my house could work (because my Trinity could detect satelites in my house without any support GPS program like quick gps)
then... your tytn II should detect the satelites and GPS is activated...
NB: sorry for my bad english

I am having the same problem. The original Three (Australian) ROM would get a GPS lock within seconds. Now, I take 20smins to get a lock.
ROM version: AthineOS WWE
ROM date: 1/22/09
Radio Version: 1.65.24.36
Protocol version: 25.94.40.06H
I have just used GPS test and the only thing I changed was the baud from 4800 to 9600. Will try it out later, but hope it works.
http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail.asp?id=3170
PS Most of us know that GPS works only if there is line of sight with the satellites, so yes, I am outside on cloudless days when I try to get locks.
PPS If it dont work, I might go back to official ROM. http://www.htc.com/au/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=13&cat=2&dl_id=342.
flash back to WM6.0, there are no problems with gps. every fix in 30 sec.
Hmm I would like to go back to 6.0 but my provider has only this rom 6.1 for download that has touch screen problem...
Any link to 6.0 WWE would be helpful
Found 6.0 sry.... ill try and post reply
Search the Wiki. There're links to various WWE versions.
Hmm, I wonder then what the difference is between 6.0 and the higher version that causes this inconsistency in locking. This would seem to indicate software issue rather than a hardware issue. I love the newer ROMs but the inconsistency or complete latency in getting a lock can be extremely annoying especially when you need a lock quickly.

I changed the baud from 4800 to 9600 and so far, the GPS locks within 30 seconds. I need further testing, but perhaps the default settings of the cooked ROMs is causing this problem?
I have tried and sucesfuly cooked ROM from stock firmware, added some apps, replaced buggy touch.dll so far so good ROM is 6.1 (WWE 3.31.xxx) using radio 1.65.20.15 i think.
Yesterday cloudy weather with rain i got lock within 4min cold start after flash, today morning warm start 2min (still cloudy no rain) and around noon no clouds got lock in 5sec.
Big THANX to SHIFU for help with dll
help with dll?
hi Vratko,
could you provide more info on the dll that u got helped with?? cos as u can see, lots of us are facing the same problems....even i have tried all sorts of ROM's and radios....yet no success in getting a quick lock...any specific settings to be done?? any
Hi,
I have different problem on GPS, I am using Garmin DK Series, dated 01/16/09. The problem is if use GPS for more then 10 min, back of the kaiser started to heatup, if I turn it off, after a while it is fine. Otherwise, it is detecting the GPS faster. I have downloaded QuickGPS & SeaSGEE.
Is anyone having these problem.
Thanks
Vratoko:
5s ????????????????????????? Please do enlighten us.
Newwonder:
Can you please provide SeaSGEE link. What does it do? is it like quick GPS?

GPS = No device found

Fully aware that there are lots of GPS issues around and that there is a well known bug to get a good fix on this phone.
However I am under the impression I have another issue.
I am using this:
[ROM][WWE][05-20-09][ShEp's Rom][WinMo 6.5][TF3D2 V1d][Build: 21222][Version: RC2][Kitchen: Ervius Visual bepe's]
Others report a working GPS on this rom.
My issue:
The system does not see the GPS device; on my last ROM it was working well.
I have the problem with TomTom, HTC GPS Tool, Google Maps and with GPS Test from Chartcross.
All the software I have is not able to find the GPS unit in the phone.
Set it to port: Com4 and baud rate 4800, but experimented with this as well.
The GPS fix cab is installed as well.
None of the software is able to get the UTC clock signal or any satellite... Simple message "No GPS device" is displayed most of the time. As this does not seem to be related to the software I use for navigation I am convinced that this is an OS/Rom/Radio related issue...
Rom: 5.10.161.1 WWE
Radio: 1.02.25.28
I had the phone looking for any satellite for more then 45 minutes, nothing, nada...
I love this phone and Rom... But this is frustrating, working on it for over 48 hours now, about to pull my hair (If I had any) .
Radio : 1.14.25.05
It is working now.. Strainge, the 'old' rom was working with WM 6.1..
Maybe 1.02.25.28 and WM6.5 somhow conflice....
However outdoor it still took me 21 minutes to get a fix..
But this is the all known issue I guess.
Now I can't send sms...
Time fro Radio : 1.11.25.01
Perfect...
SMS is working again...
And GPS takes about 5 min outdoor.
