WIKI not working? ROM flashing ? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Not exactly a newbie, but I am not about to brick my phone because the wiki won't load on either of my machines and am too man to ask.
Steps to flash a cooked rom seem to be...
1) HardSPL (directions in the hardspl thread)
2) Flash radio of my liking (should the ROM not have one)
3) Flash the rom
4) ???
5) Profit!
Is that how it works? Seems like I went through a similar process with my Wizard.
ps - on a tilt, if it matters.

4) Hard reset (press both softkey's and stylus during boot until message appears)

Thanks!
Flashing now.
I waited a whole week after I got my phone.
So proud.

... when do I hard?
I pooped while it was flashing the rom, and now it is sitting here gleefully waiting on my input...
Set up my exchange server and it is running flawlessly... ps - mail2web.com is free. saves me from installing outlook on my windows machine

rule of thumb is when ever u flash a new rom hard reset at the windows mobile screen (where it says tap screen to setup ur device). this way all the files of the previous rom, if exist, r deleted.

First attempt at ROM Flashing

Please don't flame me but I've got a n00b question for you.
This is my first GSM phone as I've just come off of a CDMA network so I've never flashed a ROM before. I've gone through a lot of the posts that I've seen on the forum and on the wiki and I just want to clarify steps before I brick my phone.
I just picked up a new AT&T Tilt w/out the camera yesterday and I'd love to experiment with the new ROM that Dutty just released. Here are the steps as I understand them:
1) Download HardSPL for Kaisers onto my Vista computer
2) Attach the data cable from my computer to my Tilt and verify that the ActiveSync icon is green
3) Run kaiser-hardSPL.exe from the computer
4) After this has completed execute a HardReset
5) Download the Dutty's DualTouch v1.1 Rom to my Vista computer
6) Keeping the data cable attached verify that the ActiveSync icon is still green
7) Run the Kaiser_RUU.exe from my computer
8) Perform a HardReset again
9) Keeping the data cable attached verify that the ActiveSync icon is still green
10) Download the 1.27.12.17 version of the radio since I'm currently on .11.
11) Decompress the package
12) Run the CustomRUU.exe
13) Perform a HardReset
14) Go to Dutty's site, click on the paypal link, and show the love!
After this everything should work. Will I need to perform the keyboard fix at this time or is that already incoporated? Have I left any steps out? Anything in here completely wrong? Any suggestions what so ever?
Thanks in advance!!!
sounds like u have it all figured out. good job.
and yes, install the keyboard fix.
Any potential issues since I haven't "unlocked" the phone?
none that i know of. good luck.
Outstanding!!! Thank you for giving me a sanity check.
glad i could help. good luck w/ the roms. once youve done 1 it gets alot easier. just dont forget to hard reset. i did and had to flash all over.

[HELP] installing new rom (vodafone)

hello all,
i've tried a lot of roms who are displayed on this forum. unfortunately none of them worked on my vox jet .
i've read and followed the instructions, but it always result in nothing.
for example the wm 6.1 ROM
i've unlocked my phone, runned the .bat succesfully and then i've used the flash update.
this one tells me that i am going to install a new rom. i follow the steps and the process bar wil come up (on pc and phone). but in a few seconds (instead of 10min) he is ready with installing, and displayes that the new rom is installed.
my phone reboots directly, and its shows the vodafone starting image, nothing is changed.
i've tried a couple of 4 ROMs, they all wont work.
A hard reset befor running the steps doenst make any difference.
is there somebody who have a (dutch) Vodafone branded version of HTC Vox?
Can someone help me?
Thanks for your time
Hi,
I have a Dutch vodafone bbranded S710 and flashed it with the latest ROM update.
First I followed the instructions in the post to flash the USPL and then had no problem updating it with a new rom.
Mike

1. run the SDA unlocker -> succesfull
2. delete storage card from slot
3. rebooting mobile
4. copy the 3 USPL to the root directory of my phone
5. run uspl and follow seps
6. when i am able to install roms, my phone screen is black and has 3 difrent collors
7. running rom update
and, wtf he is updating :s, the only diferance between now and before, is that i broke connection with activesinc. and clicked the readme file on the rom update.
thanks for your support anyway
so did you finally manage to flash it or not?
uspl is a necessary step.
breaking the usb connection while flashing could brick your phone so be careful.
yes, now it worked.
i think because i didnt follow the steps 100% :S
didnt reboot at all, and did the steps diplayed above different.
It took a while, but now i am a happy user
thanks

Hey there,
I just wanted to ask, how to install the OpenTouch 7.x. This is the FIRST thing ever that I will flash to my HTC, and I just want to make sure everything will be okay if I flash. I just don't wanna f*ck up the phone.
So I have the OpenTouch file, the 50 MB one.
I have downloaded the 'Flash Center'.
So, WHAT, do you do step by step. Have I forgotten something?
I know there are tutorials, but I just want to hear it from someone who like, does this daily.
-Can I backup my settings and stuff BEFORE flashing? How?
-Imagine the flashing fails, can I still do a hard reset and everything is cool?
Thanks a lot for the help!
PS.
I have a DUTCH WM RUU. Is it compatible with the OpenTouch 7.x?
If you are running the flash center from ttran's post then follow the readme in the root folder of the flashcenter. It will unlock phone then flash rom. If you are using ROMUpdateUtility.exe to flash them you need to unlock phone before flashing or flash will fail.
Read the tutorial. It was written by me. I flash 7-8 times a day.
Just make sure your phone has an SPL/IPL of 4.0 or higher and you'll be fine. If it's lower, search for the word goldcard.
-If you want to back up your stuff and settings, go ahead, but I wouldn't back up settings when going from wm6 to wm6.1 as it might cause problems. As to how? Search about back up options, or just copy your files manually...
-If Flash fails, then you flash again. If HardSPL fails, then you have to do a goldcard (so make sure you CREATE the goldcard first, just in case.) or your phone is dead.
How to check if SPL/IPL is = or > then 4.0. Hold camera button and soft reset while still holding down the camera button. This will bring you to a multi color screen thats called bootloader. It will show you your SPL/IPL ver.
Use PIMBackup in order to backup your contacts, messages, and appointments. Then, if your IPL/SPL is higher than 4.0, use USPL in flashcenter.

New to windows mobile, would appreciate help.

Hi everyone, I have recently bought a htc touch pro from polish orange provider. I have browsed dozens of topic, trying to make my windows mobile 6.1 life more satisfying, but I have few questions to ask.
1. What does Hard-Spl do ? And can I hard-spl my phone ?
2. To install advanced config, do I have to jailbreak my windows, or do anything to install it ? I don't want to end up with useless phone
3. When I try to upgrade my default opera browser to the newest build, the instlaler cannot uninstall previous version of opera, neither can I because it is not listed in add/remove programs menu. And, if I ignore the warning, I get an error in installling the newest build, but somehow I have 2 opera mobiles listed in programs menu.
Thanks in advance, r4ster.

I probably can't answer your questions like a pro, but I had a few experience that I can share with you.
1. I don't know what Hard-SPL do, but I guess it's like jailbreak for Windows Mobile device. If you want to flash to a new custom Rom, you need to Hard-SPL it first (don't need to do this if you flash back to the original ROM). And yes, Hard-SPL your device
2. Jailbreak is only a term to unlock your iphone... With a Win Device, you don't need to unlock anything to be able to download and install other software. This is the beautiful part of a Window mobile.
3. Definitively can't help you here... but I know that plenty of thread has been posted for this matter... just do a quick search. However, I strongly suggest (with no responsibility) you to "Hard-SPL" and "CID unlock" your device and flash it to a new ROM. It will make your phone faster and much cleaner. Also, you'll get your new Opera install.
The question now is, which ROM
I suggest NATF's v2.3, but he'll be releasing a v3 today or so. Don't flash to it right away... just flash to v2.3 first and see if v3 is stable or not by reading people posts.
Flashing is not as hard as people claim... just read and be very carefully before you do it. Don't skip any step. The first time is stressful, but after that it's just a daily burger.

you have to hard-spl first before Flashing any Rom. Please read those sticky carefully. I do not take any responsibility of what you're doing.
This is what I did (it works for me without any problem)
0- I backup everything I need with PPCPimbackup and outlook
1- I HARD-SPL my device
2- I CID unlock my device
3- Flash to NATF's v2.3 ROM, hard-reset my device
4- Flash new Radio (this step is optional... and to find the best one, you have to test one by one.)
5- Restore my backup
6- Re-install extra software that I need.
Like I mention earlier, these steps work for me, and there are big chance that it will work for you as well... but I do not take any responsibility. Before you Flash to any ROM, HARD-SPL your device. and after flashing your ROM, HARD-RESET it.

Well, first I hope that it doesn't go wrong. And second, I'm pretty sure you can stand the temptation of flashing to a new ROM, so you'll probably going to do it very soon. But Third, So far I haven't seen any thread that someone can unbrick their Touch Pro after a bad flash (he/she didn't Hard-spl before flashing, that's why)... However, there is a way to do it with the Kaiser... so don't lose hope there.
Just READ everything carefully, you have a 99.5% successful rate if you do. I would say that the 0.5% is just your bad luck (example Computer stop working during the flash... but that's just pure bad luck and you can't blame anyone but God)

my hd2 is a timer...

hey guys..i noticed that my hd2 is a timer XDXD every 4 minutes one percent of battery power it's used...even if i don't use it or it's in standby....i istalled the update radio version...but there is the same problem....my battery works for 2 hours.....someone can help me....i dont' know anymore what i can do....
No one will able to help you without you providing more information. There are literally hundreds of possible reasons for your battery drain:
- running processes
- ROM version
- radio version
To save a lot of time in the long run, hard reset and reinstall apps one by one. If you notice the problem recurring, you have found the solution.
I know you are going to say "I don't want to hard reset" but you have little choice. No one wants to hard reset.
Good luck.
i hard resetted more than 10 times my hd2 so i'll try another one...but the problem is there...i thought ...it can be a problem of the battery...maybe i have to change it with another new battery..
You could try that, it is an expensive way to test your battery by buying another one.
If you install a stock ROM and try that for a day or so, you will see whether it is a hardware or software related issue.
and where can i donwload this stock rom??? my rom is artemis italian rom 2.13 with radio 2.07.51.22_2 version and 2.5.20 manila version...
Relax...take a deep breath. Turn off your phone . Start it back up while also pressing the volume down key . Keep it pressed until you are presented with "the bootloader screen".
If it says HSPL 1.66 or 2.08 you are all set. You can Download a STOCK ROM from VBN Files or HERE: http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
After you have downloaded the rom(it will appear like a new application) you can jump to step 2 which is getting Task29 application. I will Atach it here . Now . While in Bootloader, Connect your hd2 to your pc . Run task 29 app (extracted from the archive i attached here) go ahead and press next next next. It will erase everything on your phone . After it is at 100% it will restart the phone . Remember to quickly press volume down again to bring the phone into bootloader once more. Now Run the OFFICIALL ROM APP and voila.
!ATTENTION! => THIS IS ONLY GOOD IF YOU HAVE "HSPL".
IF your phone says SPL version 1.x or 2.x no "H" then you have to use an entirely new method of flashing . For more info just read :

I see your problem is not resolved yet!
first, you dont have enough info.. otherwise we'll be guessing until you try everything. i think it has to do with your radio, rom or WiFi cuz i've had that problem then I said i had enough and flashed t mobile's latest Rom, replacing the custom radio, rom and hard spl. it corrected the problem, lol. its like taking taking out three birds with one stone.

nooo my buddyyy... my hd2 burnssssss
damn...i have a big problem... i used task29 to erase the hd2 and istall the leon italian rom but with that download i didn't have to use task ad now i don't have the file of the rom to rename and put into the storage card and istall...but i thought ..i can istall artemis rom and then istall leon rom with the istaller...or the original htc rom...
If you have HSPL just download http://www.4shared.com/file/X9gQD6tK/RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1664052_Radio_.html and try it!
P.S.
I don't understand what you are saying. After task29 you just install an officiall rom like the one i posted in the link here ! I keep telling you to put an officiall original ROM onto your device and NOT A CUSTOM ! Artemis,Leon, are all CUSTOM ROMS . You have to put a officiall htc one after task29 ! That should make your device more stable. After you see everything is allright you can proceed with further flashes. Just try !
yeah but i'm downloading it..but after done with task29 my ppc is empty and how have i to istall the rom???

Start the phone by holding down the volume down button and the power button . Keep the volume down key pressed until u see the bootloader menu . Connect to pc . FLASH !
OMG....i love you guys....you are genies....god bless your mind....
you can also try this: remove your sd-card and check how the battery drain is. in my case, i didn't format the sd-card with the phone's tool...battery performance was very poor.
then i copied all the files of the card to pc, formatted the card inside the phone with the tool provided by htc (an app on your phone), and then copied back the files onto the card.
now, with artemis v18, radio 2.11.50.20 and hspl 1.66, i have the best battery life i've ever had. normal usage (some sms, 30 min. phone call, 1h wifi, 1h 3g surfing, some games...) , and my battery lasts sometimes nearly 2.5 days!
