I put it on here before eBay, because I'd much rather that an enthusiast got it
I wish to use a standard earphone (other than that bundled by HTC) with 3.5 mm stereo pin. But the problem is that HTC accessories are not readily available in India. Now what I thought is, can we not make a homemade adapter by cutting a mini USB cable and connecting / soldering it with a standard 3.5mm stereo adapter. In that case the microphone of course will not work. I have read at HTC site that the mini USB of HTC vox (may be all other phones of HTC) is a propreitory 11 pin connector. So can a standard mini USB cable be satisfactorily used ?
Anybody has any idea ?
This is what I use with my VOX
http://www.semsons.com/2miusband3st.html
it works perfect, and I got it delivered to my home in India.
but I dont use it anymore cause I have got the new Jabra BT3030 bluetooth stereo headset which is so perfect.
Thanks Prajith. I am thinking of buying one.
Also ebay
Do a search on ebay for "USB audio adapter for HTC Vox". They are very cheap.
JK
BUY IT from XDA DEVELOPERS STORE
Its available in the store.xda-developers.com

@naidu001
you can get two of the connectors I mentioned in that price.
and hey it can be used for charging too, which the connector you mentioned cannot.
Rightly said Prajith your conector has boyh USB mini and 3.5 jack. Actually I purchased a few things from another site where postage was further cheap at $3 per item. But it seems that cost of the items are cheaper at the link shown by Prajith.
Anyway I am searching for an adapter with miniUSB, 3.5 earphone jack and microphone too for answering calls. I know this will be avaialable but the shipping costs are main.
@parthabhatta
talk to some of the other windows mobile users near place and buy this together. That way shipping cost becomes very less and they may offer a discount also. I had bought 30 of those, now I have only one and that too I dont need.
I would seriously suggest that you try a bluetooth stereo headset, you would never again use a wired headset. Ever!
Let me know if any of you folks have bought this miniusb to 3.5 mm audio jack converter for Vox from xda store. How easy is to order one from there?
I live in Bangalore. Is there any one knows which is the right place here to find it?

I ordered it from brando shopping. I don't remember the price paid but they have a standard 3 $ per item charge for shipping anywhere. The item will reach you within a fortnight maximum.
The url is probably shop.brando.com.hk or google with brando shop and you will find the exact address. No extra customs duty etc has to be paid.
Thanks PrabhatBhatta,
i went to Bangalore's National Market and tried a few adaptors, none could really work actually. Then i tried a final one which is the same as seidio one, which worked atlast for me. I bargained it for Rs160.
maybe to solve the battery problems we could all buy emergency chargers.
if you have one with solar panels and batteries yu can charge your diamond everywhere.
and you do not need to have a thicker diamond.

maybe sould get a discount buy-action (inkoop actie)
But i'm off to holiday so we maybe do that later.
i got the solar charger today.
is is almost a thin as the diamond ;-)
but it charges the diamond pretty quick. just put this in your bag and you can keep the diamond in your pants. no need for an extra battery, thicker diamond etc.

I ordered one for me too. Could you tell me how do you connect it to Diamond?
In the description stays "4 x Connection Cable (Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson)". Is there any adapter to USB or something else?
I think Motorola also uses mini usb.
the different connectors were inside.
i sent an email to the company explaining which conectors i needed.
there is also an usb exentension cord included. so you can basically connect anything with a normal usb connection

Don't forget that if you're just using solar to charge up, the small size solar panel will mean it will take a day or two in constant very strong sunlight.
I've got a solio charger which folds out to 3 solar panels which are each as big as this. Living in good ol' blighty with it's not so sunny days, it can take 3-4 days to fully charge the internal battery (1000mah), one of these single panel jobs would take over a week
cant you connect these up to a power source and charge the internal battery that way?
then when your out you just insert the emergency charger to the phone.
I've got a Solio in Sydney and it's still not great, but yes you can charge them off a usb port, which is what I am doing for now. Not as environmentally friendly but it works and is a useful spare power supply.
I think the google desktop dock is way to expensive, as i only need it as a charger and have no need for the A2DP function.
But all the cheap dock's on ebay uses the USB connection and not the dock pins, has anybody found a cheap dock that has dock pins connection?
It's much more convenient to be able to just drop the phone in a dock instead of needing to connect the phone to a dock, and be able to use the dock mode is a plus when you use it as an alarm clock.
I was wondering the same thing, is it that hard to reproduce that? I havnt seen anything besides the usb ones either and i have heard it can screw up the usb connection of n1s so didnt want to buy one of those
Exactly the same thoughts here
does anyone have specs of which pins do what? (i.e. do you apply +5 v to pin 1, ground to pin2, etc)
i've got some ideas on a homebrew dock.

Search for the thread: "Dock Pinout"
It seams that it alot harder, that there is a binary communication in one of the pins, not just a current that tells it to go into dock mode...
Doh! delete my post haha.
Just bought an original Nexus One Desktop Dock brand new from Ebay for $15.00 . The seller has 49 more available. It arrived today and it's all original with sealed packaging. Just throwing it out there if anyone is interested.

Too bad it isn't shipped for free outside the US. Shipping costs are more than half of the costs of the dock itself :silly:

brought last week http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/330770220824?item=330770220824
Dock US $15.00
Shipping US $8.46 (Germany)
Thats €18,65 (a new one costs 60€ at launch day ..)
I bought the dock when I first got the nexus one. If you guys get one for cheap and want to continue using the Nexus One, go for it. I mean the phone does slide down easly if the bump against the dock. But the lack of wear on the usb connector is well worth it.
Do you mind giving any feedback on this unit? I want to buy a separate charger cause I have a spare battery and OEM dock the previous owner bought new with the phone but I want to be able to charge the spare battery without swapping back and forth from the phone. Its a real hassle. I don't want to buy a charger that ends up cooking the battery.
