HTC to release ROM update for HTC TyTN II with improved graphics drivers
May 07, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
When? Keep reading...
We know it from good source that this month, possibly already next week, HTC will release ROM update for HTC TyTN II that will ship with improved graphics drivers and will offer improved performance. It will be ROM update for HTC TyTN II but not for other versions (branding) of this phone like AT&T Tilt, etc.
We are not sure whether the issue with opening of the QWERTY-keyboard is resolved with this update however. This issue is annoying for some (not all!) users of HTC TyTN II, who wish to write quickly some text (like SMS, email, etc) but must wait several seconds until the orientation switches.
While it is true that we have not asked HTC about the need to release new graphics drivers for old phones, we have done it on purpose: not to spoil the party that HTC had due to the launch of their new breakthrough product (i.e. HTC Touch Diamond) but also because we knew the answer: "no comment".
Note that apart from the imminent, graphic performance related, ROM upgrade for HTC TyTN II, HTC is not not (!) preparing in near future updates for any other phones that might have these graphic issues.

So in summary: A website says that HTC will release an update, but they can't specify when. Wow, that's breaking news!

hes pretty reliable.....so im sure its coming....but just HOW improved the performance is we shall see....

I find it hard to believe but we will see...
And even IF it's true.. then what does this fix actually do? are they graphic/videodrivers? lets goddamn hope so, so we can finally run some 3D apps smoothly or even TomTom without hagging..

Yeah, right, only for Kaiser and zipo, nada for Tilt. Let the XDA good cookers handle that new ROM with care and presto, graphic drivers for everybody.

until I actually see the real thing, I dont believe it.

knowing htc....and also knowing that they have new phones coming out with real drivers....im not expecting much....didnt mean to start a flaming thread just posting what i read....one can only hope

Why release drivers when you've just announced the latest product?

I just hope that msmobiles.com is right on this like they have been right on many other things before they came out officially.
A new WM 6.1 ROM from HTC, with increased graphics performance will be very welcome here.

April fools *****es!!!

Well, I've been very impressed with the improved video performance of the new ATT rom (3.51.502.0) so I definitley think it's possible. They have obviously made some significant changes based on the performance of this new build.

msmobiles is usually very reliable, I actually am somewhat hopeful about this.

It likely will, but even if it does not, you can trust your friendly modding community to cook one for you.

By the time WM7 comes out I'm sure there will be a HTC 9225 model out. And hopefully it won't have a 50 cent video driver in it!
I am for sure, WM7 will take at least another year to be released , if not more...
Else we would not have wm6.1
Most of the new handsets details that are leaked from vodafone , show that they have wm6.1

Let's hope not - apparently there's a whole team at MS dedicated to porting Zune technology to the WM platform - how sweet would that be!
The recent leaks about WM7 say that we will not see any WM7 devices until 2009 and according to the other info I have read, I don't see it coming a moment sooner. So hopefully WM 6.1 and XDA will be enough to hold us until then.
The Tilt will get it...
See here for information about the supported devices for System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 which requires WM 6.1...
If you look up one page at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobiledevicemanager/default.mspx look on the right side of the page.
Currently, the following devices will receive a software update that allows them to work with System Center Mobile Device Manager:
* AT&T Tilt
* AT&T Blackjack II

Official HTC Polaris WM 6.1 Release (WWE)

Any word yet? I just got a Touch Cruise, and it's great... but... it has enough little issues here 'n there that I'm looking forward to a ROM update. Not so much for 6.1, just a cleaner running device overall...
What i have read about the wm6.1 release its coming in next month, but when we are talking about HTC so you can never be sure about that
Darn! That was a misleading headline. Looked like an announcement rather than a query.
In the UK, we just got an official release of... what turned out to be the bog-standard WM6.0 ROM I downloaded from here when I was finished playing with custom ROMs.

I was happy for a while, till i saw the contents of the thread... Anyway, my touch cruise, seems to be a problem free device at the moment, of which i do not think i will upgrade to wm6.1 at the moment even if the rom comes out..
The one feature that sounded nice was the threaded SMS, but when I saw it working in practice (using one of the 6.1 ROMs) I was... less excited. It's dog-ugly.
WM Standard (non-touchscreen) received the most updates with 6.1. WM Pro has some page zooming in IE and threaded SMS, a 'getting started' feature and some under-the-hood speed improvements.
HTC will be including some improved graphic drivers, though not anything that will fully utilize the chipset. I'm hoping my GSM reception will be improved some; improved camera operation in certain light settings; and better GPS sensitivity.
I'm quite happy with the Touch Cruise, but a few minor improvements would be welcome
Looking forward to a HTC WM6.1 release as well.. so I'm hoping omaga is right with that rumour of next month
ye me too ... I wouldn't mind wm6.1 right now.
lol... 1000 views... probably most because they thought this was an announcement rather than a question ;-)
Oh, and I also want 6.1
Stefan
me too
when is it expected to be released (if any?) the WM6.1 for touch cruise mean?
According to the release WM6.1 date of Kaiser.....maybe in October this year, HTC will provide us WM6.1
just a guess~
Please change a title!!!
Can someone please change this therad Title.. its very misleading.
Does HTC have some sort of agreement going with carriers where they won't update their own branded stuff until the carriers themselves are covered?

My guess is that this delay is waiting for the final Opera 9.5, and any custom HTC-specific tweaks to it.
But it's just a guess. Personally, I'm disappointed in HTC -- I bought direct from them just to make sure I didn't have to go through a carrier dragging their feet on updates...and it looks like it made no difference...
Must be your first HTC device? They're always last out with the updates, no surprises here...

Official HTC Sense release for the Magic

I'm sure this is in the wrong place, but it does have a lot to do with the Hero ROM porting that's goign on here. HTC Brazil's website is showing off the Magic with Sense. Anyone come across this built yet? I'm sure it will work a lot better than Hero ROM ports since it's official from HTC! http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=732&Itemid=51
Great news!!! Thanks for that Nick.... really looking forward to the official release
Damn i was hoping the brazillian magic phone had our low ram. Would this really change anything?
salivating... hope it can be made into a suitable rom for 32a soon

We are just waiting for a Brazilian person to extract it and we can have it too (I think so).. I was reading it and there's good and bad news!!!
Good:
Is really the 1st HTC Sense Ui officially on a Magic!
Bad:
All stores from the Brazilian market listed on the HTC website from the link there, hasn't the equipment available and only the TIM network are promoting the Android phone and asking for filling a form for a pre-release/information (I didn't feel it) about an Android phone (I think it can be the Magic).
soooo.. any brazilians got it !! if not HURRY THE F UP!

I doubt it~! I didn't see for sale it yet on any of the authorized HCT Brazilian shop!! We will have to wait, maybe the release date is the same that our so WANTED update will be released!
that sucks.. so does anyone have a magic with a hero rom that is fast.. and you are satisified with it?
I will not be satisfied till our ui is up to speed with the ones in iphone..
I can get nooo..

I'm not sure any Andrid UI will ever be as fast as the iPhone. The iPhone UI is only an icon list and that's pretty much it. We'll need a Snapgragon powered Android phone from HTC to acheive a no-lag Sense experience.
i am excited about this. having a native sense ui made specifically for the magic is good news and hopefully will improve performance since we dont have to port from the hero to the g1 to the magic. once it's released we just need one of the devs to root it for us haha then we can install like a normal rom, i think, right? i dont want to lose root to install this.

Since HTC controls this.. it sounds like it will be as well the time as well that we will have our so DESIRED HTC Sense UI updates! But, anyway we'll see..
Hope that I'm wrong in the good way (that they release first the update, since is already made)! One month to go..
midway october is still 3 weeks away , hope someone get a piece before hand and can make a dump and put it up for people to breakdown.
can't wait ! Singapore's one is releasing on Nov, one month later of wait

nativ or not. the problem is the same...
the htc magic in brasil is using 288 mb of ram.
its good for the 32a users but 32b has the same problem as now
even tho it has 288 mb ram , it will still be a better port of Sense as compared to the current one which is of a whole different model , so this would have lesser bugs and im sure with some swap in place it would be pretty snappy for those who have the 32B as well
The main benefit I see from this is that the LED and Bluetooth issues should finally be resolved.

I just noticed this too. Very intresting. They have links for twitter youtube and myspace up. wonder what will be when they come back online. 3am for me. im soo tired. must sleep and see surprise tomorrow. mebe a release for the diamond 2 finally.
Coencidentaly, before I wandered over to htc.com I had a message on my phone from microsoft to collect and send information and that there are updates for my windows phone and i shoukd connect it to the computer which im about to do. Very intresting. we shall see when i awake.
Even more intresting is that this came up on a 6.5.1 ROM for my TD2.
That would be the announcement of AT&T 3G version.

4 YOUs link to Hero... 3 to the Imagio and 2 to the Tilt 2...
Release SDK! <3 as if!
I do not see any changes on WWW and RUS Sites..
But Russian unofficial HTC site says that they can't find the lastest HTC Hero and HTC Diamond rom..
And small changes will be in late October.
but it is only rumors ...

The biggest surpriese for us from htc would be definitely a official rom upgrade to wm 6.5 for devices like htc touch viva. I dont understand why microsoft and htc dont wanna provide upgrade for these devices when they are running smoothly wm 6.5.1 that is 230xx.
What crap. The only change is to the US site with flash animation that says YOU and advertises the Ugly Sprint version of the Hero. The original is better. and the Imagio for verizon and the HTC Tilt2 (TP2) from AT&T.

Android 4.0 update to be released soon (before 1st of March)

According to @HTC_NL, the sensation range of devices will receive the ICS update soon (before the 1st of March). On the 1st of March an ice white sensation will be released in Holland.
Link here (it's in Dutch of course): http://www.whizpr.nl/persberichten/8268
Article from tweakers.net (source):
HTC provides users of the Dutch Sensation, Sensation Sensation XL and XE soon an update to Android 4.0 ICS. On March 1 also appears that a white Sensation Android 4.0 already installed.
To update existing devices called HTC no period, the manufacturer has only said that "soon" will take place. The update was on the air offered to users. It is still unclear whether the devices with the update to ICS also immediately be provided with Sense 4.0.
About new features in Android 4.0 version of HTC Sense is still little known, HTC has just announced that shortcuts at the bottom can be adjusted by the user. Recently there appeared images of the new version of Sense, showed that the appearance, colors and screen animations differ from both Android 4.0 and the current versions of Sense.
HTC Sensation spent the last year in June from 2.3 with Android. Last autumn there were the Sensation XE and XL on the Sensation. The Sensation runs on a Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core SOC running at 1.2 GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 220. The phone has a 4.3 "LCD with a resolution of 960x540 pixels. The camera has a maximum resolution of 8 megapixels and shoots video at 1080p with 30fps.
The manufacturer will this spring, next to the white Sensation, presumably releasing new models. These will most likely at the Mobile World Congress telecommunication fair, which takes place later this month in Barcelona, are presented
Nevermind, HTC has clarified that the phone will be coming with 2.3 and will be upgradeable to 4.0 ... lame.

This would be awesome, as they would release kernel sources with this phone which might be compatible with the original Sensation/Sensation XE... which would allow better custom kernels for ICS which is the only thing wrong with [email protected] at the moment! (apart from the *few* minor bugs )
I wont hold my breath that it will be soon

There will be not ICS on 1 March, on XE White. R u blind all? Read!
Update: HTC just wrote us to say that its original press release was incorrect — it'll actually ship with Android 2.3 and be upgradeable to 4.0 down the road, just as its other Sensation versions will be. In other words, don't expect an ICS-equipped Sensation on March 1st... but you can expect a white one with Gingerbread. Furthermore, the white Sensation is already available in select markets, so the PR is simply announcing its upcoming availability in Benelux. Now, the question becomes: how much longer is the wait for the upgrade?

Yes how retarded of people not pre-emptively predicting an updated article.
Take a chill pill.
Im seriously not impressed with the way HTC are masking ICS, AOSP ICS is a beautiful thing, so can sense be, but htc have gone about it all wrong with sense 3.6 and 4, I think im steering away from HTC slowly but surely, and can almost guarantee that I will be going AOSP ICS when it is stable!

I like the ROM's that are already out there, and as posted above as soon as AOSP is stable I'll be going to that.
On the other hand I wonder what's taking HTC so long, we have devs that do this for fun and they're releasing great ROMs and here you got a major company that you would think have lots of professional devs that do this for a living and they take forever.

A chef here has to make a rom which is pre made and stable and tweaks it. If it works for 99% of the users it's good. Htc has to release a rom which work for 100% of the users.

You forget that it isn not just a phone software that they need to update and polish, they need to sort out all cloud services that their ecosystem is all about (eg facebook for HTC, watch, hub, likes etc).
I would rather wait a few weeks to get a finished product, than have unpolished system that has memory leaks or whatever...
You forget that average user doesn't want to mess with rooting and flashing and they even don't know about that alternative (and/or care) so they cannot and will not flash new "xda" software when official rom "breaks"...
Very true, didn't think about that.
