hi,
I'm wondering why the camera of the polaris has 2x digital zoom in every mode except the "normal" mode.
Does this have a particular reason or is there actually a zoom function and I am just too stupid to find it?
If there isn't, my question is: wouldn't it be possible to enable the zoom also for normal mode? Maybe via the registry?
There are some camera settings in there but I haven't found a zoom-setting.
digital zoom is just resizing like you can do with any image program
and programs like irfanview does a much better job then any digtal zoom
I know what digital zoom does and still I think in some situations it might be handy to have it. Also if the camera does the interpolation for digital zoom before it compresses the image to save it, the result can be better than resizing manually because more details are preserved.
Why don't you try it out and give us feedback?
ok, I tried it and here's the result:
I used the portrait mode as it has digital zoom up to 4x

I did the resizing with photoshop and I think the result speaks for itself.
Try Irfan View
It's got by far the best resize filter I've met with...
I had Irfan View installed once but it somehow screwed up my machine and I've never touched it since.
Oh well, I decided to give it another try and yes, the result is better, but still not as good:
Regardless of the better method to resize the image I still think it would be neat to resize the image "on the fly".
The zoom is tied to the resolution that you are taking the picture at. Because of the fact that that other camera "profiles" are by default set to lower resolutions, the camera can zoom in by just manipulating digital zoom. At the max resolution in normal mode, 3MP, there is no space for digital zooming.
Simply put if you want to have digital zoom on the fly, lower the photo resolution. The further you lower it, the greater the zoom option you will have.

Is there any program that you make a panoramic photo.
Marked a landmark in the picture and you have to follow it and that point is moving in one direction.
Like this http://www.panoman.net/
THANK YOU
Your camera should have a panoramic picture mode depending on your phone.
But this program is to make several successive images but not the only one, as

the one on your phone allows you to take several images and pieces them together, i'm not sure what you are asking
some camera apps don't have that option. you should find a software that can create a panoramic photo from a bunch of other photos.. i do that all the time with my G7 but i have an app suited only for canon cams.

I for some reason cannot get a decent picture out of this thing. No matter how I adjust the ev settings, in any lighting, the pics always come out blurry. Example below

So what's the trick for better pics?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Look up camera apps in the market. Fxcamera and camera 360 and Vigenette are popular for good picture quality

That does look bad... It looks like you didn't auto-focus, have you tried that? I think it's a long press on the camera button in the standard app.
Of course make sure the Picture Size is set to 5MP (2560x1920) and set the quality to 'Super fine'.
For third party applications, Vignette is indeed a good way to go. Has many more options than the default camera application.
Greetz
1. most important! be sure to keep the back lens cover clean. one fingerprint can mean the difference of a good picture and a blurry one.
2. lighting. watch for good lighting.
3. motion. a moving object(or your movement) will translate into a blur.
nexus s pics, stock camera app.
i have vignette and get the same results

clean the lens cover with windex(glass cleaner). it looks like the lens cover is dirty/greasy. no app will give you better pictures, only you can control the quality of your pictures.
Long press the button for focus, release to take the picture.
So i was thinking to take a hdr picture you need to capture 2 pictures one over exposed and one under.
well because when you use an app made for HDR they have a little gap between each picture where the exposure adjusts .
So with our phone having 2 cameras would it not be possible to capture both exposed images at exactly the same time so then the picture will not blur? for example the left camera takes the high exposure and the right takes the low exposure then blends them together the same way other hdr apps do it.?
just an idea. cos its hard to capture hdr images on objects that move like cars/animals.

The Alignment will be off 3D Cameras are spaced far from each other the resulting image lacks symmetry for the above method to work perfectly you would need to realign them in photoshop or a similar app which defeats the purpose of doing it furthermore you will be capped @ 3mp

It seems like the macro ability of this phone is not that great. I'm noticing that my Note 8 was able to get closer and take clearer shots. Is there some magic setting that needs to be set to get macros shots working correctly, or is it another case of it is what it is?
All lens has a fixed minimum focal range. That limitation is physical and by design.

I understand this. I just wasn't sure if there was something that I needed to set to get macro mode to work or if it is automatic.

Try the longest lens, and try adding a slight amount of digital image enlargement around 20% if no dedicated setting is present.
In the camera Photo mode, approach the object within an inch or two. At this distance, a "2x" will appear at the bottom left of the view image. See attached image. Touch the 2x and as instructed, back away a little until the instruction vanishes and the image is in sharp focus then take the picture. Note that this is not an extreme macro. The attached image is burred because it was captured before backing away.

I'm looking for the simplest app that allows me to turn HDR on and off. That option is not on Android 12, it's always on.
I don't need an elaborate app that does a whole lot of things.

Better than stock gcam.. you can turn off hdr and turn on hdr+
Also lot of modification.
Oh nice...ty!
Will that apk replace the stock app, or just add to it? Will I lose the highlight and shadow sliders?
I tried Open Camera. It lets you use their HDR or turn it off. I found no difference at all between their normal and HDR pics.
Their pics were just about as good as the native app, which has sliders for highlights and shadows, for precisely dialing in the exposure.

Not at all, it's a 3rd party app and it won't replace the stock camera. Btw i even found better one. Here's the latest version link -https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-MWP/f/dl23/
U will find manual control there, but for manual control u need to turn on hdr++
